My feedback is absolutely positive! I had been wanting to order from Logees from some time due to their interesting selection of plants. I finally did so last week via their website, which is very user-friendly. I ordered an aporophyllum for me and a begonia for a friend. I had a question about my order which I sent via e-mail before my order was shipped, and I got a very informative response back right away. My shipment came within a week of my ordering, and boy, were those plants packed with obvious care! The shipment came with an invoice and instructions. Both plants were healthy, large, and gorgeous. I am definitely impressed, and I will be ordering from them again. I have already told a bunch of family and friends about my satisfaction, and am happy to do so here.

i had a large order. each and every plant is just perfect. not a one broken, not one brown leaf, not one small plant....unless you count the drarfs! this is my third order with them. everytime it's like xmas opening a box from logee's. ok, here's the best to me; one cannot always tell about a company just because you received good plants, the truth about a company is when you have a problem, large or small and how they handle their customers. i have had a few minor (now they are minor just because the way logee's handle them) problems, you call them.....they don't even question your word. they are on it in a ny minute. they just want to fix the problem no matter how big or small. there customer service people; well i just don't know who's my favorite....deb, amy...you just can't tell because they are all perfectly friendly, willing to help in any way they can. but i would expect no less from this company. i just can't say enough good. i just won't rate them positive....but excellent.

i highly recommend this company to anyone looking to buy without hesitation the best quality plants found on today's market. it just doesn't get any better then here.

i will order again and again from them, they can count on it.

I received last night my very first order from Logee's. The box had been turned on its side by my postman and I was a little worried about the contents in the box. When I opened the box, all I could see beneath the invoice and planting instructions, were sheets and sheets of paper.

There was no one lick of soil anywhere in the box. Each of the 9 plants I ordered was wrapped in papers. The pots was wrapped in black plastic, tied with rubber bands; the soil was held in place by shredded papers before the black plastic was secured. Fantastic packing job!

Two of the plants I ordered have fragile foliage: maidenhair fern and sarracenia (pitcher plant). I could not detect visually any damage on those plants. I was very impressed, especially having been disappointed by other nurseries.

The passion flower plants that I ordered are HUGE. The main vine of one of them is longer than 1 foot. This is insane, as I haven't seen such growth on passion flowers offered at my local nurseries. Very impressed.

Count me in as a very likely repeating patron.

On May 19th, 2006, DCUrbanGardener added the following:

As soon as I posted the comment, an email arrived from one of their customer service associates, responding to a few specific questions I have on the plants ordered that were not answered on the instruction sheet. I sent the email at 11pm EDT last night, and the response came less than presumedably 6 business hours. Not too shabby, not too shabby.
On June 1st, 2006, DCUrbanGardener added the following:

One of the passion flowers didn't make it while being acclimated to full sun, which was odd. That particular plant looked very healthy. I emailed Logee's reporting the problem, and they said they would dispatch a replacement. Again, great customer service.

A few years ago I ordered some sweet potato vines from this company - they arrived with a slug! (we have our very own slugs, thank you). The ground cover plants were not in good condition and didn't make the transplanting. In the past I ordered some citrus plants - and they did not do well at all.

In reading the comments from others, I think I shall try Logee's again. My only problem, still, is the pot sizes are so small.

On April 2nd, 2006, sacajawea changed the rating from neutral to positive and added the following:

I ordered again from Logee's. Plants were received 4/2 and were really in spectacular condition! Some were in the very small pots but the root systems are well along and after they get used to me, will be re-potted. The plants I ordered in the larger pots - well, they are just beyond spectacular.
On August 24th, 2009, sacajawea added the following:

My experiences with Logee's have varied over the years. I have come to the conclusion the best time to receive plants is during the summer/fall and keep the plants in the original pots for longer than recommended - and away from others. This is for their own well-being. My past two orders have arrived in wonderful condition and are thriving. I really don't like the very tiny pots, however, I am able to re-use them for cuttings. I recently purchased a "ZZ plant" from them labeled new in their catalog. When I opened the wrappings, I thought it looked familiar - I have one!! I purchased it a year ago in a local grocery store. Their care instructions were right on - it is a very, very easy care plant and grows like a weed. I like Logee's and am already working on a list for my next order. I do think they are expensive and their shipping rates are high. You get what you pay for...

I visited Logee's for the first time in January 2006, with a group of garden buddies. What a great place! The owner (3rd generation) and his staff are knowledgeable, courteous and friendly, and the plants are first quality.

Byron Martin, the owner, told us about growing up in the greenhouses -- how his parents met over begonias, married and ended up carrying on their love of begonias into turning a family greenhouse into a complex of greenhouses full of tropicals, and some hardy plants as well.

The setup includes a number of well maintained greenhouses, potting and propagation areas, as well as a room where orders are prepared for shipment for the mail order business. Everything is spotless. Plants are constantly monitored for health and pest control, but I didn't see a spot or bug on any of their current crop.

The retail shop is a charming, tiny old garden shed that was part of the original operation. It leads into the "Lemon House," which is one of the main greenhouses containing citrus trees, hibiscus, brugmansias and other beauties. Mature citrus and guava trees, as well as bananas, grow right out of the dirt floor, and Byron said that many of them were already large when he was a child.

Plants for sale are small and young -- 2.5 and 4" containers. But all are healthy and grow fast. I went home with guavas, jasmine, passionflower and other goodies.

The telling moment: I leafed through one of Logee's color catalogues in the retail store, and noted that the plants in the greenhouses were every bit as gorgeous as the ones depicted in the catalogue photos. So, you can be reasonably certain that you're going to get good merchandise. The plants may be young and small, but they will be healthy and full of foliage.

Although my experience was an "in-person" one, I believe that Logee's mail order operation is every bit as good as its retail point-of-sale operation. I took home a catalogue.

I have purchased several plants from Logees (on different occations), always with happy and positive results. The plants were always very well packed and healthy. Logees staff are Very friendly and professional as well.

I had an opportunity to visit their greenhouse last year. The storefront was not much to look at. But the greenhouses were beautiful (better than Disney's EPCOT "The Land"- in my opinion). I found a plant in their greenhouse that was not in their catalog, they even offered to root the plant and ship it when ready.

I had an unfortunate situation this year in that I live in zone 5b and was away on a business trip during the week where tempurature turned sub-zero. Lost several of the plants, but that's life :(.

I would definitely continue to do business with Logees and highly recommend this company.

I ordered two abutilons and a 'Lady Margaret' passiflora for my first-time order. The abutilons have been absolutely wonderful, right from the start, apart from dropping a few leaves immediately after I received them, probably due to shock from shipping. They are doing well, after two months here. The passiflora died shortly after its arrival here, and a replacement was sent out. It, too, didn't do well and soon died as well. Whether it was due to shipment during cold weather, or something I did or didn't do (although I have a large p. caerulea that has done exceptionally well under the same conditions), I don't know, but after losing two and knowing that Logee's couldn't keep sending replacements, I merely let them know that I was not successful at a second attempt, and they promptly offered me credit towards something else I might want on a future order. I feel that was more than fair, and will definitely be placing a future order (when the weather is warmer) and not just because I have a credit to use there. They answered my concerns very quickly and cheerfully and I will not hesitate to recommend Logee's to anyone.

Very healthy and sprouting new leaved branches all over. The other was a 4" potted Ponderosa Lemon. It is 15" tall with the most beautiful LARGE dark green leaves. In two days to my suprise, the lemon has sprouted a flowering branch! In my book A 5 out of 5.

I recently received the latest of several orders I have placed with Logee's. I have always been pleased with the plants that I received, but this time the plants exceeded my expectations! The plants were very large and very healthy. I am unsure if the plants were larger because of the time of year, but I was very surprised at the size. One of the streps had no less than 7 open blooms with many more buds. A hibiscus plant was no less than 9 inches tall with three branches. I was so pleased with the quality of the plants that I quickly placed another order last week and am anxiously awaiting their arrival.

Another nice thing Logee's does is to include their latest catalog with your shipment of plants. (Or maybe this is part of their evil plan to entice me to order more plants. It worked!!)

The people I brought with me - NY or Boston - have always agreed Logee's was an oasis in the cold! The best was visiting during winter when one just wanted a little bit of sunshine in their lives. The Plants - oh my God the plants - and yes, Biff and Buffy - you're going to step in a puddle or two and brush up against the plants. Hello! This is a country greenhouse - a REAL greenhouse ! If you don't want to get dirty then stay home ! I have several varieties from Logees, including Jasmines and Oxali and a wonderful S African Haemanthus (which is always a conversation piece) that are growing strong in my (potted) garden here in Glastonbury.
In fact, I have a friend up from Costa Rica who is very into plants and we are planning a Day-Trip (no pun intended) to Logee's this week because he is salivating over the prospects (and the Haemanthus).
Keep up the good work, Logee's !!! We love you for bringing sunshine into our shadowed lives !

My Allamanda Butterfly (2 plants) were small, and not well rooted -- contracted spider mites almost immediately after they warmed up and died. They did not transplant well - I don't think they were "well rooted" .Some of the rex begonias I ordered were quite lovely -- some have done better than others. Plants were well packaged, except when a heavy bottle of liquid fertilizer was placed on TOP of small plants !
I think they have some unusual plants that you just can't find everywhere -but I think for the premium prices, ALL the plants should be premium quality. Yet, I would probably order from them agan - just because I collect unusual plants. and they have some quality items. I just wish they would have kept the dialogue open and answered my e-mail. (and maybe said I'm sorry you had a problem. That would have done it for me.

First let me apologize, we truly do believe that every customer should be happy with their experience with us.

Please understand that we are a small company that truly tries hard to please all of our customers. However, being a small company we also have limited resources ... during this past spring season we nearly tripled the number of people in our shipping department (from 3 to 8). We still could not keep up with the orders and many took up to two weeks to process, unfortunately, we could not afford to hire more people.

We always inform telephone customers about the approximate order processing time, however, we received two complaints about the delay from internet customers in May and realized that we did not properly warn them. In response we added notes to both our website and our email confirmation as follows:

On our "select shipping" page on the website it now states ... "Standard Shipping: Logee's ships all orders as quickly as we can process them, in the same order that they were placed. During our busy season (March-June) processing orders could take up to 10 business days. Shipping time is in addition to process time and can be from 2 to 5 business days depending on where you are located."

On our email confirmation for an order it now states ... "Logee's ships all orders as quickly as we can process them, in the same order that they were received. During our busy season (March-June) processing orders could take up to 10 business days. Shipping time is in addition to processing time and takes approximately 2 to 5 business days (for standard shipping) depending on where you are located."

In this case the delay from Friday, April 22nd to Monday, May 9th was either 10 or 11 business days depending on the time that the web order was placed on Friday."
