I have placed one order so far with them. The plants were smaller than I thought they would be. They weren't sent as fast as I thought they would be either. I will give them another try though.

I placed a couple of first-time orders with Logee's this past spring: one for myself, and one for a friend. Six months later I can say that my only problem with these plants is that they've all grown so huge. All of the plants (in both my and my friend's order) arrived in a strong and healthy condition. They were packed well, and there weren't any foul odors or chemical residues noticeable as there were with the plants that I had ordered from other places at the same time. I cannot speak for times past, as this was my first order with them, but in Spring of 2001, Logee's exceeded my expectations, and I am looking forward to ordering from them again.

I received an order from them last week, which I placed early in May. I was a little apprehensive due to some of the comments on this web site. Wow was I ever thrilled when I received my order. All the plants were outstanding. They looked like they had been packaged a few minutes ago. They were not small but neither were they big. They were just the right size to pick up fast after being in a box for a couple of days. The day after they were all in their pots and had no problems whatsoever. None ever drooped and all 21 have grown since and some have even formed flowers. Most of the plants I ordered were on sale so I cannot complain on the price. If you want plants that cannot be found in your local nurseries, then you are willing to pay the price. For 21 plants I paid $137. I will definitely order from them again.

This place is great! Whenever I visit home (in Connecticut) I have to go to Logee's at least once a day just to walk through the greenhouse to find some unusual stuff. The neatest thing is certain items they have for sale they have a very limited supply, not enough to put in the catalog. So if you wander around in there and look carefully, you can find some super unusual plants. To make a long story shorter, if you have the chance to visit - please do. Everything is healthy, no dead plants hanging around, just the sound of running water with the humid smell of a tropical rain forest.

Have been a pretty steady customer of theirs for a couple of years now and really have been very happy with the orders and conditions of plants that I have received. Everything I have ordered has grown and is thriving. Have contacted them and real pleased with their service and advice. I have and will continue to order from them. This year's catalog is really good.

It is true that Logee's doesn't offer much information on the required growing conditions for their plants. I live on the desert and this information would help in selecting plants that would be suitable for the hot, dry air here.I ordered plants from them in 1998 and they did well over the winter. Since their catalog comes out in March, I e-mailed them in February, asking about placing an order for Datura or one similar to the Brugmansia I had ordered in 1998. I said I didn't want to wait for their catalog as I wanted the plants to arrive and become established before the hot weather sets in. The plants arrived in 2.5 inch containers and the price had increased from $22.95 for four Brugmansia plants to $29.95. You can imagine how I felt when the catalog arrived and the price increase indicated that it was because the plants would be shipped in 4 inch containers, providing more rooting systems for the plants!!! My e-mail to them on this remains unanswered since March. I doubt that I'll ever order from them again.

I have found Logee's excellent for buying begonias. I ordered 4 plants in February and they arrived in good shape and were very large (6-10 inches tall). I recommend them. I only wish I could find other places for begonias.

I have been a Logee's customer for about six years. I am very pleased. I have never lost a plant. I think the key is to follow the instructions and repot only into the "next size" pot rather than into the ground (or a largish pot.) Living in Texas, I experience some decline in Begonias late in the year so I've learned to get an early order in (March, April) and to the plants established. Only once have I had a problem (wrong plant) and that was rectified within a few days. No problems at all really. I'm sorry to see others with problems as I really have had none at all.

I have had mixed results. Once I ordered an ornamental grass (several different orders) which was consistently filled with a different plant. You probably cannot beat the selection, but I've had problems with insects on the plants. I've probably had about 50% survival rate which is somewhat lower than I would expect. I will order from them again.

I recently placed my first order with Logee's and dealing with them was a pleasure. The saleswoman was helpful and friendly, hunting around for info for me even though I called after official hours. Most important, the plants arrived in pots in perfect condition - tissue around damp newspaper - even the soil was wrapped in black plastic to keep it damp and keep it in the pots. I've ordered a lot of plants by mail and I was really impressed with the care with which they had packed these. The plants are bug free and healthy and they even added a gift plant as a welcome (a real catalog item in pot). A nice touch. I'll definitely order again.

I have ordered from Logee's over the past 5 years and I have never been disappointed in the quality of the plants I have received. They have been carefully packed, healthy and large enough to really perform when potted up appropriately. I have ordered primarily herbs and scented geraniums but also a few more exotic things as well. Prices are very competitive and I have been pleased with the variety of the selections. I am looking forward to making a pilgrimage to the greenhouse!

Recently I received plants from Logee's and I am impressed with the size and quality of the stock, the only disadvantage is their catalog, which has too little information about the care and description of the plants. I received a "gift plant" (a different Camellia than the one I ordered but still got the refund from the original) from them, which is doing well. Overall, I would recommend Logee's for your rare plant needs.

I haven't had much of a problem with quality. In four orders, I only lost one plant, and truth be told, didn't report it to them. However, they are VERY slow in responding to your order, I guess because this is almost a mom & pop style operation. On the plus side they have some stock that no one else has, so weigh the pluses & minuses. I've gotten things from them in 2" pots that are thriving, growing & have to be divided, and I would rate myself a better-than-average, but by no means advanced gardener.

I have bought mailorder plants intermittently from Logee's for the past seven years. My experiences have almost always been negative. Few of their 2.5" potted plants survive the first month, generally because they are barely rooted cutting. Frequently, plants featured in their catalog are "out of stock". Some plants arrive with insect eggs on them. Their staff are ignorant of their product's culture except "They grow great in our greenhouses"! I would rate my capabilities as intermediate (orchids in a growing case, tuberous begonias on a patio, rhododendrons in the yard, etc.), so I don't believe the plants I received from Logee's were very hardy. A number of conversations with them about these difficulties were fruitless.

I recently made a couple of trips to Logee's Greenhouse and boy what a treat! They have 7 or 8 buildings which also house full grown versions of a lot (if not all) of the plants they sell, so you get to see what they'll look like. The owners were happy to answer any questions I had. The prices for rare plants weren't bad and they are in excellent condition. I purchased 5 plants and all have taken off and are doing well. The Jasmine is about to bloom! On the downside, the catalog doesn't tell you much about the growing conditions needed for the plant.

This is a great place to find unique plants. The geraniums here are really spectacular. The fragrance collection is a bargain way to get 5 small plants that smell heavenly - mostly jasmines. I also ordered two small staghorn ferns and a citronella grass. These are doing great. P.S., the citronella wasn't even in the catalog, I just asked for it.
