Great company. Huge selection and great variety. I can sit and look at their catalog over and over again, putting little check marks on the plants that I want to order next.! I ordered a Jasmine, Flowering Maple and Gardenia. The Flowering Maple and Gardenia were already flowering in their little 4 inch pots when I received them. The jasmine now has a flower (in a 2 1/2 inch pot!). The plants were healthy and arrived safely. Don't hesitate to order from this company.

Due to some online problems, my order was quite delayed, and I'd begun to wonder......HOWEVER, they did explain that there was quite a backlog on orders & shipping, and that they'd get it out as soon as possible.

WORTH THE WAIT! My plants arrived in marvelous condition, expertly packaged, with the least amount of dirt spill I've even seen (I order alot of plants by mail! lol). One was a very nice-sized mimosa, and a surprisingly well developed bonsai'd begonia that I bought on sale--lovely pot too! A carnivorous plant arrived with the bloom INTACT (yay!), and the 4" pot of variegated saxifraga was stuffed full.

I'm highly pleased, and will order again!!

I've heard many good things about Logee's and was finally able to make the road trip on a warm winter's day....and I'm glad I did! Though not much to look at from the street, inside I felt as though I had stepped into a warm, vibrant rain forest. The plants were exceptional: the selection more than I had imagined. I was very interested in the different varieties of Streptocarpus and found it hard to make a decision. The camellias and jasmine were in bloom and the fragrances were intoxicating. The staff was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend visiting the greenhouses if you're in the area and if you're looking for hard to find plant varieties, this is the place.

On Saturday 29 January I visited Logee's for a bit of winter escape. (and to indulge in a few more plants)
Yes the aisles are narrow and you have to turn sideways to get down many of them. (although I am no thinner sideways) Narrow aisles=more plants.
The prices were up about a dollar per plant over last years prices which amazed me as oil has gotten so expensive.
The staff was awesome, I don't know how they manage to stay so positive as dealing with the public can be very wearing but the place has a great vibe. The ladies working both the register and the aisles were very helpful and had no problem directing you to who ever happened to know more about a specific plant or it's care. (it's obvious that they have the plant bug at home)
I saw a previous comment about not wearing anything nice because the place has dirt and you brush up against the plants and this is true, so Biff and Muffy if you wear linen trousers with your green wellies you will stain them when you explore. If you can sneak out of the condo in jeans and a sweatshirt I highly reccomend it!
I managed to restrict myself to only two plants, an Aristolochia ringens and Hibiscus "The Path". My date left with 6.
I will go back again and again.

Summation: Dirty and lots of bugs.

I've been lucky enough to visit Logees twice in the past few months so I could pick out plants in person. The selection was amazing. What was also amazing was the shocking contrast between the pristine, vibrant catalog and the reality of Logee's filthy greenhouse. I don't think I've ever seen so many fungus gnats in my life. I was also a little grossed out by the green slime that was coating some of the older plants in terra cotta pots.

If you ever visit don't wear anything nice. Some of the aisles are about 18" wide; I had to walk down them SIDEWAYS. There is literally NO room for people to pass if they are walking towards you from the other direction. I had to climb up into some side aisles whenever anyone needed to pass by me.

It is great that they have been around for over 100 years, but I don't think they've cleaned anything since their grand opening. The prices do seem high for the small plants, but you do pay for getting plants that are hard to find. If you can visit I do recommend it. You can pick out your own plants and you get to walk around a place with a lot of history. But... expect lots of bugs and be prepared to get a little dirty. Watch out for the uneven floors and steps.

Logees is a place where I can get things no one else will ship. Their violets are exotic, begonias are extensive, they have a wonderful selection of fragrance plants. I used to think they were the best I could get, until I tried another source and got a big shock.

I ordered an osmanthus fragrans from another company to go with one I got from Logees...what a difference! The price was the same! The Logees sweet olive was about 4 inches high in a small container. It looked like it had been forced to grow roots from a twig. The poor little plant has bloomed but it was sad in comparison to the 1.5-2 FOOT specimen I got from Ecolage for the same price. The Ecolage olive was very full of leaves which looked healthy and was blooming when it arrived. The wrapping was great and there was an impressive set of papers from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture stating the health and pest free status of my plants.

For the money, I will only be shopping at Logees when I can't get it anywhere else. I have had the whitefly experience from Logees in the past, so many of their plants are teeny weeny things with great big price tags.

I placed an order with this company for two plants in multiples of two each. One plant, I could not find elsewhere and the other was either sold out or twice the price elsewhere. I placed my order by phone and the customer service was excellent - friendly and helpful. The plants arrived right on time and were in great condition, except for one plant which was obviously broken off in shipment. I called back, and again, customer service was courteous and helpful and said they would ship a replacement plant immediately. The replacement arrived in great shape and I was very pleased with the whole experience. Their plants are healthy and robust, and they provide outstanding customer service. I would recommend this company and I will be using them again in the future.

All of them have been large and healthy, packed securely, and in a few cases with buds on them. The majority of the plants have even been watered adequately prior to shipping! The prices are a little high, but considering the quality and wide selection available, more than worth it to me. All the calls I have made to their horticultural hotline have been returned promptly and courteously. I am a VERY HAPPY customer and will continue doing business with Logee's into the foreseeable future!!

This was my first time ordering from Logee's. I think they are awesome. I actually expected smaller plants as everything is cheap, to me anyway. Having ordered from many other on-line site as well as eBay, I was surprised how quick they shipped. They have an excellent variety of hard to find plants. Everything was wrapped great and as others have said, perfect condition and much bigger than you would expect from a 2.5" pot. The catalog they sent with the plants is very helpful. I will definately buy from them again.

I've been buying from Logee's for about 15 years, both in person and by mail. Overall, I've probably bought about 65 plants and 95% of them have done well ONCE I PROVIDED THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT. I lost many plants because I refused to increase the temperature in my greenhouse, even though the catalogue clearly stated a minimum temperature for each plant (chalk that up to Yankee stubbornness and "frugality"). Of the 30 or so plants I bought by mail, only about 3 or 4 arrived in less-than-perfect condition. I find their prices a little steep for 2.5" pots, but the plants couldn't be healthier.

The catalog and website info, photos, and selection are great, although the prices and communication for ordering and shipping could be better. I have been to Logee's about 15 times over the last 8 years, and the place has truly changed my horticultural life. As a horticulturist, it's a source of endless fascination and wonder for me, and I have brought many friends there over the years. One thing I love is that it's never the same place twice! I was even asked to apply for a job there once, but the 1.5 hour commute (-each way-) would have been a little too far!!!( I actually entertained moving to Danielson for about 6 minutes...) The mature plants I have created from Logee's plants are beyond compare in regards to genetics and performance. I absolutely understand that some people may be miffed when they receive a wimpy Passiflora when the picture looks like a vine sent from above, and the management has made serious strides in identifying the fact that plants are usually sold in 2.5" wide or 4" wide pots. That information is very clear in the catalog. Logee's superior (and often ancient) mother plants which these cuttings are procured from are very costly to maintain, and the retail prices simply reflect that. As for bugs: whenever you move a plant from one place to another, you need to be careful to defend it while it adjusts to its' new surroundings. When a plant comes from the comfy, humid confines of Logee's to your dry house, it's mad! It's defenses are compromised, and it's going to take a little while for it to toughen up! During the adjustment period, a plant is very susceptible to pests and diseases, JUST LIKE the latent ones that have been hanging out on and in your already existing plants!!! I like to sequester any new plant for about a month or so before I put it in with its' new friends (-my existing plants.) Logee's is absolutely NOT packed with bugs (and believe me, I check too!!!) What I would say to anyone who doubts Logee's is to examine the catalog and website closely, and choose wisely for what they can handle. "Right plant, right place" -- remember that one? You're not going to grow that 'Kona' Hibiscus too well in the natural light of the north window in your apartment, so try to give other plants a try that will do well at your place. There are more of them than you think! Heliconia stricta, many Begonias, many Hoyas, Clivia, Epiphyllum, etc. etc. etc. A little extra help, courtesy of a simple aluminum clip-lamp (using more than one at a time is great, too) and a good grow-bulb from the hardware store can do wonders. You can even get all fancy with nice lamps that fit in with your decor, too! And for the love of God, stop using Miracle-Gro. It's plant crack. It leaches out the good nutrients and then deposits its' salts in your soil, and does absolutely nothing for the health and longevity of your plants. Quick results do not mean healthy plants... So, go organic (PlanTea, etc.) and you'll have unbelievable results, besides less pest and disease problems as a happy bonus since the plant and soil will be stronger. Soil is not simply an anchor for your plants, treat it like it's alive (-- it should be!) I have bought many hundreds of dollars worth of plant material from Logee's, and I'll be a customer for life. ... But I digress, and now I'll hop off my soapbox. I've got to get ready to go to Logee's tomorrow! :)

I visited Logee's in November of 2003, I was pleasantly surprised to find 17 varieties of Hoya. Most places I have visited were lucky to have 2 or 3. I bought 3 of each of them and they were kind enough to re-pot all of them in hanging pots for me at no charge except for the pot. I now have a houseful of beautiful growing, and some blooming hoya's in my home. They were free of any kind of disease or bugs and are growing great. They have since sent me e-mails when they get new hoya. I had nothing but glowing words for this greenhouse. Thanks. Sandy of Attleboro Mass.

I ordered about 20 tropicals from Logees, most in 2.5" pots - some of them hard to find elsewhere (ie. Aristolochia Peruviana, Thunbergia Mysorensis, and Mucuna Species).

They were shipped out within a week via priority mail. I live in NY, so they arrived in 2 days. They were perfectly packed - not a single leaf was lost in shipping.

The plant sizes and overall condition was excellent. One of the passion flowers arrived in bud and bloomed the following day. Two of the citrus had nice top growth, but limited root systems - however - factoring in that these are young plants in 2.5" pots for only $6 or $7 each, I would still say that they were a great value. I'm sure that once they have settled in to their new home that they will do well.

I will certainly buy from Logees again.

Mailed order and check April 1st this year, specifying May 12th week delivery; check was cashed April 10th. Sort of forgot about my order til June 10th ,when I emailed to ask where my stuff was? About an hour later, a very nice customer service person called and apologized for the 'delay', and said my package had shipped the previous day (June 9th).Hmmm.Got the box the next day (Hmmm) and was disappointed to find 4 TINY crummy plants (that I paid $4-6 each for), and 2 larger crummy plants. The bouganvillea($14) actually looked as if it had spent time in a freezer, and was now in the process of dropping all it's leaves, and a hibiscus was obviously chlorotic-a $15 plant. So I sent another email, detailing my complaints. The same service person called back again; this time she had talked to the owner, who had authorized her to reship new plants and give me a full refund. Well, I didn't expect to get anything for free, but accepted. 3 days later got the replacements via Priority Mail: mostly better quality though still small, BUT they had apparently run out of the hibiscus variety I had originally ordered, and had substituted a (cheaper) one that I detest. I emailed again, to let them know I got the stuff, and it was mostly acceptable, but that I wasn't keen about the substitution. They emailed back, basically, 'Sorry'.The next day I got the refund check in the mail. I would have been very satisfied just to get good replacement plants, even though they were late, but that substitution bugs me, even for free. They get an A for good intentions, and a seductively gorgeous catalog, but there are some problems there. Unless I desperately want something in one of their catalogs that no one else has, I don't think I'd take a chance again.

WISE ADVICE
As far as purchasing plants... From trial and error, via other mail orders, which is no ones fault but mine. I have learned that plants may or may not grow in my area.
Through this period of learning I ended up purchasing a book from my local Waldenbook book store (Texas Gardening-second edition). This book is on Texas plants. It makes it possible for me to know what best grows in my Zone in my Wonderful State of Texas.
Thanks to this book my plant selection errors no longer exists. As a Chinese Fortune Cookie once said, "Age alone does not make a wise man. A man becomes wise through experience."
POSITIVE VOTE
I have looked up and down for bougainvillas. Not only does this site have them, they have plenty of choices in color. My local nursery doesn't even carry this kind of selection. As for purchasing. I will give an updated vote when I purchase some.
