I heard the frogs last week but haven't this week..... too cool for them ????
Garden Photos of '09...#26
I've heard lots of spring peepers out my way, IrisMA. They have come and gone. Heard them sometime back in April or early May, can't remember now for sure exactly when.
Go for it, Bill!
Karen
Nice shots Karen.
Victor.... gotta love the odd ones!
Venu... I love that pic of your cat. Very curious.
love that sage NFD.... and the austin rose is beautiful Ge
Hi Onewish
Wish it was mine.
Nice tree! Those roses aren't to shabby either. ^_^
Nutsfordaylily, love the frog shot and that DL shot of 'Beautiful Dreamer' which is the same color as in the frog shot. No DL's out for me yet.
Ge1836 great maple that I think I also saw at Wha's. I think your collages are great.
I have been thrilled that my perennial Gladiolus communis subsp. byzantinus has bloomed again since planting it in 2006 from a sale that Bulbmeister had @ 6 for 5.95 and is bigger this year. Pictured with Allium giganteum from a 2008 coop 5 for 11.00 from Bloomingbulbs. Patti
Thats a great combo.
I have to have the gladiolus.
Isnt it wonderful when a bargin thrives?
Isnt it horrible when a reeeeally expensive plant doesnt?
My Stolwjks Gold isnt doing well.
The first of 2 ordered from Plant Delights( for a kings ransom) died.Lesson learned.
Ge1836, I try to find many bulbs on sale in Nov, but I am lucky that I can still get them in the ground in Dec. Some of my non hardy glads that I left in the ground as an experiment, or perhaps I was I just Lazy, have appeared, now to see if they flower. The communis is a perennial to zone 5 or 6a according to the bulb folks.
Some more alliums taken yesterday. Patti
Allium Firmament just starting to open, but wonderfully dark now
Allium christophii too short for where it is planted
Allium globemaster with Ornithogalum magnum
Allium rosenbachianum gone by but lovely still
Some whites. Allium nigrum is pretty nice, hope it doesn't go wild as it is new for me this year. I have to check and see which Iris is which and get them labelled on the computer. I have always loved this shrub, Potentilla 'Abbottswood' which has bloomed in this spot for over 20 years. This knotweed has been in this spot for more than 5 yrs, and has been totally well behaved, Persicaria polymorpha though I cut it back after flowering and then again after a small rebloom in Aug. Patti
can't believe you still have allium growing patti, all mine have past - nice pic's
GE what where the conditions where the eskimo sunset was planted? I do have a baby one and have read that the more shade they are in the better the color/variegation - that one looked to be in full sun
thx-bill
It's actually a part sun area. Its behind the house and there are larger trees around it.
I doubt it gets more than 3 hours accum. per day.
Great shots. Love the DL, Karen. That dark iris is fantastic, Patti.
thx
Lemme tell ya ... I cannot wait for thread 27, and get back on track!
Bill, I am not sure of the paeonia .... It could very well be Kansas, if that is a REALLY common one from the 50's, as I am not sure this one came from great grand-mom's garden.
Does Kansas often show up less then overly double? Some of mine seem sort of light on petals, while others are fairly full. I have to say, I think I always see the yellow stamens in mine.
The color seems about right.
I am liking all those alliums a lot, Patti!!
Here is a bad shot of the paeonias, but it shows how different the amount of petals can be.
