Larry said we had a ton of rain while we were in Texas, Janice. I came home to grass and weeds up to my knees. The lawn service that we said we would call, did get a call from us. They had to cut the grass twice at to different levels just to get the mowers through it and cut the grass down.

Good Morning!

Deborah!! How was your day with Riley??? Hope you have lots of pictures to share.

Another busy day in the neighborhood...So jake and dad came home with shoes, belt forgot the tie! Will run for it after school.

Jaye your so sweet thank you! I sure enjoyed that...Was so tired pulled a Steve and dozed on the chair, finally went to bed at 10:15.
All the calls were made...
LOL, Steve and I were in absolute frenzy each trying to tell what the day was like..lol was too funny, and I see after reading my post, i will never make a good secretary, ROFLOL, missing words, miss spellings...what a nut! BJ, I am taking some breathing this AM before off and running again...

Good morning everyone -

Not much of the morning left, but I am just getting started. I've been up since 8am, though. Done with my morning chores, had coffee with my DH.

It is raining again. Thunderstorms predicted, but my son, Mike, and I have to go out anyway. He has a doctor's appointment at 1pm.

Linda Kay - The tarantula is beautiful, but I am glad he isn't here ! I don't even like small spiders ! You know how bees seem to head straight for some people ? Well, spiders come to me. I've been bitten quite a few times. The last time was just this spring. I was working on a flowerbed by my front door.

Marion - Would you believe I have never seen Les Miz ? I must at least listen to the music sometime. I thought Susan Boyle was amazing. I found it hard to believe she didn't win Britian's Idol. I guess the deciding votes came from viewers.

Trisha - I agree with you - playing piano is relaxing. Wonderful to have a piano given to you ! Grandpa gave Mom an upright when I was about four years old. I started playing then. I took lessons from a lady across the street for a couple years. When I was in grade school, I took up violin and continued to play and take lessons through high school. My violin teacher had a piano in his studio, and I always went to the piano before my lesson. Anyway, I gave up the violin after school, but I continued with piano. I never took any more lessons, I just practice a lot.

What kind of music do you like to play ? I enjoy classics, mostly sonatinas. I have trouble playing pop, but I try.

Here are some pics from my little garden.

Oh how pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and Kii Kii in the background, how sweet. Nothing like getting yourself a birthday present huh, I do that every year, that way I get what I want! :)

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Good Morning all you lovely ladies!!
We have rain here in Ohio this morning...I zipped out fast enough to get smokes, as we were out and right back home...I'm hoping it will stay quit long enough for me to do my banking and grocery...

Judy...Your dress is just like my white skins that I wear as Clan Mother when I go home...The only difference is mine is calf length, my mocs come to my knees and the entire bodice is beaded...It stays with my cousin Ramsey Walkingstick, and each year that I remain Clan Mother, another band of beads is added to the bodice...

Today is my daughters 41st birthday...next month is mine..I gave myself an early B-day prezzie to celebrate hers by renewing my membership here at Daves since it is always due on her B-day...LOL

I hope all you gals have a terrific day!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yay Dusty, glad you renewed your membership, and how easy to remember the date! Tell your daughter happy birthday, hope she has a great day!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL!! It's funny you say that Dusty...Mark (my son) and I just had a discussion about birthdays....we agree that it's the Mom who should be celebrated on that day!

Judy brought her belt and headdress to TX, it is just lovely.

Hi Deborah! Don't get too stressed over the party....no one will remember anything but the bride anyway!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's only 80* and I'm drenched in sweat... no, I learned recently that women glisten... well, I'm glistening A LOT right now... had to come to cool off a bit.

That big bucket of manure holds water... a lot of water... so I had to dip out the "tea" so I could get to the manure... now letting it dry in the sun a bit so I can mix it up with some compost so it won't be so strong on the hostas.

Clan Mom, huh? Dusty, what an honor that is... how long do you get to hold that distinction?

Countrymom... what lovely blooms... so, the secret is to stay on your knees in that dirt, huh? Seems like that's all I do, but will try to do more of it.

I think kids birthdays should be celebrations for the mom too... I need more celebrations in my life... but all I ask of my kids is MY birthday and Mother's Day... they're equally spaced during the year... May and November... If I get those two days with them, I'm pretty much a happy camper.

Well... better get busy now... glistening or not, there's stuff to be done.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Passing through. Very dark and overcast here today as thunderstorms are moving in on us. Not complaining as we need some rain--again!

Oh BJ you just have to get the little red pepper!! I see you and Phyllis now driving through the countryside enjoying the scenery --and ride! LOL You two could find a way to get into trouble I bet. Hey-just wish I was closer to join you!!!

Deborah, don't wear yourself out that you don't enjoy the shower. That would not be any fun!! Time for new pictures of Riley dear.

Ok have read all the info about manure in the garden. I knew about the "tea" bit as we had cattle when I was growing up and Dad kept a 55 gal drum with the mixture in it . Kim has a friend with horses who said I can have all I want --humm maybe later I will take her up on it. Now I am trying to get things together to go to Mom's for her surgery. Typical woman!! She had a perm yesterday so she would be pretty for the doctors. I have said her motto is "growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional".

Oh Dusty I would love to see a picture of your dress. Do tell us more about being the Clan Mother. I still say you should write a book and soon. I would be the first in line to buy it!!

Speaking of books, Tink, how are you doing? Fill us in on the latest.

Waving to all--need to go get busy now.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Meoooooowwwwwwww.........splat!!!
No slick cat here Synda!!! Lolol!!

Hello everyone. Reminding all, any prayers needed, I'll post your request. We do have prayer warriors here.

Beautiful pictures Penny. Seems your garden is neat and tidy, unlike mine. You are so right, only way to achieve a beautiful garden is to spend more time on one's knees in it! I use DH's ;)
Always envy those that can play any musical instrument. I just don't have the discipline for practise.

Congrats Dusty!! Clan mom and another year with DG. By anychance, do you have a pic of the dress. I'd love to see it.

Talking of beads....Judy, you need to take a pic of that beautiful head band that you wore on your wedding. You all should see the exquisite beaded work.

Sis Deborah.. now your house will be just fine for the shower. Will you be doing the foods, or will that be catered. Wish one of us is close enough to help you.

LK, thank you.... my quilt of life is threadbare, and Christ has definitely been with me all along, shining through..

I won't be trying to get rid of all those pesky bugs if I could afford a pro, Crissy.

Maid M.. I wish all the best for your Mum. And please don't overdo it yourself, either.

Well BJ, I'll be glistening here as well. Or perspiring.. Got those bags of cotton burrs to work in my beds.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I need a good punch recipe. Anyone got one using ice cream or sherbet?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah... the best punch I ever had was simply Lime Sherbert and 7 Up...

Got a race going on here... how much can I get done before it hits 90* today... sheesh...

short break is over now.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Lime Sherbert and 7 up! i cAN DO that! thanks kiss kiss!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm trying to pick up and put up clutter. What's out should be in the closets. What's in the closets, I haven't used in years and needs to be dragged out for a yard sale. Do I dare try a yard sale before the shower? Oh what a mess I'd have. But I think I'm up to it. Got 2 wks before the shower.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That spider is about 3 inches long! Not a big one. I have seen them darker and bigger. If my dad was here, and see's them in the yard, he rolls overt them with his motorized scooter! Hubby gets mad if I kill them. He say's they don't harm you! I say yes they do, they make me have to go change my pants when I see them! Not to mention it makes my heart race! YUCK!!!

Beautiful dress Judy, and yes Dusty, we need pictures of yours too!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh that's gross LK! LOL!!

Judy I LOVE that dress. I always wanted a buckskin dress and always said I was going to make one someday,,,never have, and don't know where I would wear one,,,except for Halloween. We dress on the bus with the kids,,,they are always having 'dress-up day' for Halloween.
I did take a pic of Marcus in his suit, the moccasins don't show that well, and he's NOT a happy camper before the contest,,,but after first place,,,my how facial expressions can change. We still have the suit, moccasins and all.

Love your beds Joycet,,and I like hens and chickens. I've got to get some! Have a pot that I want to grow them,,,have had it for years,,,don't know why I've never got the H/C's . another,,,,someday. lol
too busy I guess. taking a break today though,,,have 6 out of 20 vests done,,,and lightning again. so shut down the sewing machine,,,then it quit,,,but we are expecting more, so until I hear more, pc will stay on.
seems we are having our summer afternoon thunderstorms early this year. I sure hope that's not a bad sign of things to come this summer.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Cookie, what gorgeous beds!!! Love the rocks to but like them better if they were at another house! Mine!!! I have been toying with the idea of red mulch and now I think I would like it in my paths. Son has sketched me out a wooden walkway but it is so far down the list I am not sure I will live long enough to ever do it. To many projects in the works as it is. Maybe he will surprise me one day and just do it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Taking a break from the heat here.
Cookie, that cherub is so adorable!!! I want one!! Haven't seen one like that around here. I have a cherub holding a large shell.. but that bird on his hand is cuter!
BTW, Kel finished off all the caramel candy. And I need to know where you got my sugar free candy. I love the coconut filling. It's not sweet.

Marilyn, you and I might just have to get one of those old time sewing machines that don't require electricity. But then, who wants to be constantly sewing.
Kel's aunt has this huge pot of hens and chickens.. think I might swipe a few..

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I was not a fan of red mulch for a long time, but I just love the contrast of it in the pathways.

I wish I had a magic wand to make all the little weeds and seedlings go away....sigh.....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, Jaye, that candy came from the next town over. Just a little family owned place, but I love their stuff! It's called Freisinger's (Springboro Ohio)

I should go take pictures of all my cherubs....when it stops raining, I'll do that, angels, too....

Raleigh, NC

Morning Glories!

wow are y'all chatty! can't keep up much less catch up.

Great spider, lovely containers, but I'll pass on inviting any more rabbits, with welcome signs, into my garden! LOL

my gardens are not that beatiful - great camera angles help. but will post more photos.

LK - I just adore that quilt story. mind if I send it on?

Joyce, Francis Williams is one of my fav hostas, but hasn't grown for me yet - had two die in drought. ZD is one of my fav roses, and one of Randall's as well, as it has no thorns.

They were offering chocolate mulch for sale at the festival this year but I didn't like it. Found out since then it is bad for dogs--makes them really sick and can kill or at least that is what I have been told. Guess I need to research that to see if it is really true.

I like the contrast a lots. Since my path is in a lot of shade I am thinking it might work after all. In some ways I am old fashion. Can change tho.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bon, I don't mind at all. I stole it from Tubby, on Betty's thread!
Lovely pictures Joyce! Will be waiting for the angels you post.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I switched from red mulch to pure compost for the past 2 years. Truly help improved the soil, but had not kept weeds down.
So back to red mulch again..

Maid M... Kel's mother uses chocolate mulch. No problems with her dog.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cookie... that shaded pathway, and beds looks so cool and inviting...
Have a swing in there by next June, and I'll bring my book...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What is chocolate mulch?
Bj, I agree, and swing or a hammock would be so nice!

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh Jaye, I used to have a treadle machine and it actually still worked. But like so many of my other treasures, due to a separation,,,it was sold also. That thing would sew through anything. Saw the little girl that bought it a few months ago, she said she still had that machine. I told her I would give her double what she paid me for it.,,,she wouldn't sell. But did promise I got first dibs if she ever decided too.
Love all the pretty flower beds. Mine look so bad after all that rain....poor things were droopy,,,to much water and I couldn't get them dried off. Water finally went down,,,but they sure look the worse for wear. Hoping they will make a come back. Never have seen my angel trumpet look so wilted!! and it was from too much water.
Marcus came in early,,,caught me cleaning his room,,,,but he appreciates me doing it. When the grandkids come,,Marcus' room is the hang out and it looks like a cyclone went through it when they leave. So this clean up is on me...if it doesn't stay that way, next clean up is on him. lol
Here he is today at 23 years old. the indian suit picture was taken in grade school, around 2 or 3rd,,,can't remember now which grade, he went as a clown the first year, and the Indian the next.
