I'm the one PMSing, good thing it's almost lunch time!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Bon, you need to go to the dr for your headaches and dizziness! Goodnees, we worry about you all when you are sick. Please take care?
Wow, Bj, that is a lot of money for an air filter! Geesh! Guess none of the fun hobbies are cheap anymore?

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I beez here to quote sistah Kathy! Emergency call to baby sit the GDs yesterday and didn't get home until late. Mom and Dad on 4 day weeks with long days. Kim tried a new slow cooker recipe one of her friends had given to her and brought it over for dinner. Oh my but it was so good---no leftovers--her brother saw to that. Oh yeah, it is chicken stroganoff. We did learn the lil pirates don't like mint tea.

Cindy, dear sweet sistah, if I have to explain about Johnny Depp then maybe you are to young to understand! LOL Ole ladies love their "eye candy".

Gwen, it was about time you showed your face around here again. Now is you can't wait a year, nothing is to stop you and BJ form a road trip to Florida!! Good way for BJ to try out the little red hot pepper!!!!

Trisha, so sorry to hear about your neighbor but alas it is much better she not be living alone. Old age is not fun with illnesses like she has. How is MIL doing? My Mom goes in the 8th of this month for her knee replacement. I plan to leave here Saturday to go be with her for a few days then after she is released. She will be hospitalize for 4 days and then will go to a center for physical therapy for 20 days. Plan so far atleast.

Judy, you have way to good of a memory dear!! We had better watch our p's and q's around you! Atleast I got everyone back where they belonged so the picture wasn't necessary after all. Just wish Kris would let me know about her daughter and the tulips!! Come on Kris, tell them the story.

Phyllis, make sure you are taking good care of my PUPPY!! I would oh so hate to have to come take her away from you.

Waving to all I missed--brain still tired from the girls. I need to figure out a way to bottle their energy and sell it!!

Everyone I am in total agreement about the sistahhood. Such an age spread, diversified backgound, strong opinions, medium opinions, some easy going, some "strung out: (yes the shoe fits and I wear it) but one thing all in common, an unexplainable bond that has formed that we can put aside out differences and just sit back and enjoy our similarities. Oh the strong bond of laughter in all of us!!! So here is to 2010 at Cookie's!!!!!!!

Afternoon everyone....just have a minute, waiting on DH so we can out and visit his mother.
She came through the surgery great......Bill had to teach a class so we didn't get out to visit last night.....don't imagine she felt much like company anyhow..............Marion it sounds like they are going to be on similar recovery schedules......she decided to have both done at the same time so we will only have to go through this once (also figured after the first she would never have a second one done).

I agree....we have a wonderful group here and I don't know what I would do without all of you....

Yep Synda, you and me and our Happy Pills!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I MOVED MY LAST 2 POSTS OVER HERE AS I THINK THEY ARE BEFITTING OF THIS WONDERFUL GROUP......

We are not an inherently mean group, and that is why our love is spread so wide and in such flagrant expression to each other. The healing of our hearts, the song in our souls and the words of wisdom that we impart on each other is what makes us remarkable as individuals and as a group. The diversity in age and backgrounds make us a truly unique and dynamic collection of tremendous beings. Like any group there are those of us that hold certain honors, like I deem one above all of us as the heart of our group. I am sure that we each hold a different distinction for certain members, but the point is that we DO hold that distinction. We have used DG as the catalyst for a gathering kindred spirits. Maybe not all of us are kindred to every one of us, but we have found at least one other that we never knew we were missing and now cannot imagine being without. I know I have...

I just said that as I have a few distinct people here that make up something that I had been missing without my knowledge. I also have people that I deem in certain places. Like for instance, I think of Jaye as the heart of our group. Always one to help others, quick to console, generous as a queen, whit to match any comedian's and the warmth that can melt even the coldest one of us. A true angel amongst us...

I almost think of our group as one large living being, each person being one facet that makes up the whole being. But each one a specific piece of that puzzle...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day everyone!
I see Bonnie has returned.. missing you gf! Happy Anniversary.. and wishing you many many more.
Always wanted to try Tx. Roadhouse. Do they have prime rib?

Hiya Penny. I have never been through a tornado... not looking forward to it neither, but like Marilyn and Maid M. in Florida, I faced hurricane seasons back in Louisiana. Thought I escape that when I moved here, unfortunately, we have our share of hurricanes too, and lately tornadoes have been hitting a few miles away.
Guess there's always some natural disaster anywhere.
You've been the longest member of DG amongst us all. Any advice you could share on maintaining a picture perfect garden?

Wow.. LK.. watersorb crystals to help with the brugs. Yep, they don't like their feet wet, but that will certainly cool them off in 100 degrees heat.
I have quite a few in full sun. They droop in the afternoon, and perked right back up at night and in the morning.

Synda, so.. will you be making that quilt for Cindy? I agree, it is gorgeous!! If you start now, you'll finish it in time to show it to us in Ohio!

Poor poor Crissy..... just make sure no goons are around you at work. Ooops, that's hard, right? I hope there are no firearms then.. don't want you to go postal. Stay away from the coffee pot too.

Hi Sis Kathy. Is today a slightly better day for you? I do hope 'his' mother's wise enough to know what's good for her grandbaby.

Congrats Cody. Next will be some guineas right? They make great gumbo... ask Sis Kathy!

Marion, no way you're "strung-out". Unless the Marion we saw at BJ's had been fortified with behaviour altering drugs!!! Lol!!!

I love you to death too BJ!! And what recipe are you talking about? Is it the one that Kenboy had posted some time back in the brug forum?
You know I have CRS!!

Stacey Sweetie.. you failed to mention that I have a girth so big, that I can survive a year's famine ;)

Sorry.. didn't see you there Trisha. Will pray for an e-z recuperation period for your MIL.
Cindy-- *Riverland* had a succesful surgery too. Thanks for your prayers.

Shame on you Tante-that is not true by any means-you are a cute little package that I wanted to take home with me:)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Nope Jaye what you saw is what you get!! My sister says I am "strung out"--hummm maybe need to analyze that some more, then maybe not. LOL

Tinky sure wish you were going to be here the end of the month--son and DIL want me to go to Disney with them. Just think I could 3 small children in tow if you came. ;-) Got to go see Stitch as the youngest has now become aware of Stitch. Gee whiz they change hourly at this age.

Hello Penny, how is Phantom coming? Waiting to hear you play it--so make it really loud.

Off to do some more much need work.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, any job offers yet?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm... I've never been called cute.. at my age, niece!!!!!!!
Lolol.. cute as a jolly puddin' you mean!! Anyway, you're too kind and have you read all those books you picked up in Kemp?

LK, think we'll try the Roadhouse in a couple of days. That might ease our sorrow after we send Cedric home.
Imagine, at first, I wanted to back out of the Round Robin, since I really don't have much time to spare.. now that I have him, I hate to let him go. But I know Ci Ci will be waiting, and he's missing home.

We caught the other sibling. It's a HE!! Brought him along with us to the vet. Dallas is also a He.
Dallas gained 3 more ozs.!! Vet was very happy that he is 'prospering well' (his words). The other one is 1 lb. 2 oz... 1 oz lighter than Dallas. He's also the only one that the mama's feeding. He will be on antibiotics and formula food too.
We stopped at a feed store to get this great big rabbit pen. That's where they'll be 'quarantined' for a while.
Dallas' brother is silver with tortoise stripe markings along his forelegs.
We haven't named him yet.. any ideas? Kel thought of "Basil"...
Since we have the other one placed with Dallas, it seems Dallas needs less attention!! I was surprised that Dallas remembered his brother.

Still we wished we had caught SS Hope early enough.

Talking of Hope............ Twyla, how are you doing today? Got some sleep?

How cute, little fuzzy fur balls!

I was just going to the prayer forum to check on Cindy, glad to hear it went well. Thanks for the update.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, those two little brothers are so cute. Glad to hear you caught the other one, and got him treated too! As much as he avoided being caught, you should call him Houdini or Merlin, for the disappearing acts he pulled!
LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

MERLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's it!!!!!!!!!! Perfect LK!!!!!

Just checked the menu, it got something Kel can't say no to.. TX. BBQ RIBS!!!

BTW BJ, Kel wants the recipe to Don's BBQ Ribs. He's been salivating over the memory!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy.. you could use some prayers too!
((((((((((((((((HUGS Crissy)))))))))))))))))))
It will be 5 o'clock soon!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I hate editing to include things I've forgotten to post..

Anyway... at the vet, we made an appointment for the mama cat to be spayed. The vet is 2 months solid booked!!! Imagine that. Well.. actually, I wasn't surprised.. he's very good and reasonable.
The charges for today, dewormed and 'physical' along with ear mites and flea meds are $12.50. This vet is not greedy, he knows he will prosper as customers will keep returning to him. He is also the vet for the humane society in the county.

Dallas and Merlin.. they do go well..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you liked thename.
Jaye, when we got to roadhouse, they have a combo plate that has a steak, and ribs, and is really good! Comes with a big ole potato, or other veggies if you want, and the biscuits are so good with the cinnamon butter. I know you can't have most of that, but Kel will enjoy it! And don't mention it is anyone Birthday, cause you will get embarrased. They have a saddle on a workhorse, and they make you sit on it, while they sing thier version of happy birthday!
Now I got my own mouth watering!
Yeah Bj, Is Don giving up any secret recipes?

LK

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Ft. Worth comes to mind,,,Then you would have Dallas and Ft. Worth,,, Basil also sounds good, but just doesn't go with Dallas. Got to have something that 'goes' together.
LK I can't show what I'm working on for two good reasons. Number 1 I was making men's bags, (I call them plain ole pocketbooks but guess they call them ammo bags) for the re-enactments,,,,they looked to pretty to be ammo bags. anyway, started on them early yesterday morning and the lady that takes them has already picked all 20 of them up. I have one left to finish,,,so if I can get over to my son's tonight and steal my camera cartridge back, I will take a photo of that one.
Then I started on the vests again,,,don't know how many of those are in the tote box. And I've got two bolts of material plus a bag full of already cut out dresses. Little girl dresses this time. I will try to get you a picture of these,,,as when I'm finished with them, I will ship some to Maryland. and forget the other state they are going to. Will have to look at my notes. CRS? yep,,,got it bad.
I love doing the little girl dresses,,they are the simplest. no apron or anything , just little plain prairie dresses.
I do take orders,,,but those ball gowns take a lot and people just don't want to pay what it's worth to sit and do one of those. They are beautiful though. So it's mostly just little girl dresses, vests, blouses, skirts, aprons, and 'ammo' bags since last summer.
I would rather create than alterate. I hate alterations, and people think because you sew, you can take a size 50 and make it a size 10 or vice versa...I just don't like alterations, never did,,,I 'd rather start from scratch and sew something brand new. lol
I make all my friends' grandkids halloween costumes every year. that's fun. and they ask me every year, "Aunt Marilyn, are you going to make my costume this year?" So that's strictly a freebie,,,and sometimes I put my own finishing touches to it,,,they buy the material and I put the notions on ....I"ll try to find Elvis and Glenna the good witch and show you ...I didn't get a pic of Sara Leigh last year, she was the Good Witch,,,not Glenna , something else. but she was cute.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Yep, Merlin is good. you guys are so fast! lol,,,by the time I posted he was named. lol ,,,but Merlin is good, I like that too.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

I'M BACK! Didn't get home from BJ's until Friday after Memorial Day since Stacey and I decided to spend a day with Dad in St. Louis. He was disapointed that we hadn't stayed on the way down so he could take me to dinner for my birthday.

Stacey's tat was a hit at the retirement center. One of the guys gave it a really close eye full! Then a server at Outback remarked how beautiful it was. Even her DH seemed to like it once he saw it (or at least, didn't hate it).

I was not too thrilled to be driving to Texas from Michigan and a bit shy about meeting all of you but all of that was sweep away in the love and kindness that we all shared. Such different women but all with stories and lives to share. I can think of no better way to usher in my 70th year than in their company.

I took Marion's fat quarters to her and I would highly recommend giving those when you can see the other's reactions. SHe keep pulling out one after the other and grinning from ear to ear. Everyone had to see and I thought she was going to have to share with some of the others!

I so worried about my snoring but woke one morning to hear three "chorus's" going on politely and went right back to sleep thinking we all shared even in the little things.

BJ and Don took remarkable care of us. The food was to die for and I miss my morning breakfast on the deck. Warm skies, soft breezes and no stinging bugs. I may just change my mind about retirement and move into BJ's craft room and stay! Maybe they would make me the next exchange student; I could go back to school, learn a language...

Kell was amazing! He was always ready for fun, fit right in with the "ladies" and interested in everything and everybody. He could always find something he had in common with each of us. We talked old science fiction, movies and TV programs and he took us on a detour a the greatest used book store where we shopped to our hearts content.

I'm so glad that Gwen has joined us on the thread. I could tell that she was taken with the group and really wanted to be a part of it. She did and will fit right in.

Kris, so sorry you went home to trouble. That is no way to "come down" from as great an experience as we had. Hope DH is better and has no lasting effects from using your toys. I was looking over my hostas and will pick out just the right one to send to you.

Phyliss, I hear you have "my " dog. I'll be glad to claim Milly and would have put her in my bag for the drive home if you had not been watching her so closely.

Judy and Joyce, I'm glad you had good flights home. No lost luggage or such. I seem to have come away from Stacey's with her caramels and I love them! I limit myself to one n the evening while watching TV and really savor it. However, I can't hang the dream chaser since the cat seems to think it is a live bird and wants to get it and eat it. Hanging it high only encourages her to jump really high!

How you doing, my Georgia peach? Haven't heard from you but I have been reading the threads at top speed to get through what I missed while my computer was on the fritz. When I got home I wanted to see what everyone was saying but my computer wouldn't work. boy was I frustrated. Got it fixed yesterday and am at work today so I have two now at my disposal.

Must try and get some work done today. Have a good one!
Janice

don't know if they have prime rib, Jaye. they have a LOT of choices, though, and country fried sirloin - CCS is Randall's personal favorite dish. their prices sure are reasonable.

been on here for hours uploading photos to PlantFiles, so only read a few postings and have to get a bit o' laundry done.

thanks everyone for the hugs and sweet wishes. I'm waiting on my doc's office calling with that referal they were supposed to make, to neurologist.
y'all sure are chatty ! it'll take me forever to get caught up!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

OMG!!!!! LK.... think I'll do that to Kel!!! AND I'll have my camera with me!! That's being mean huh?

Marilyn, yeah, take pictures please. Seems you're cramming whatever spare time you have hunched over your machine.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Janice, I'm dropping my jaw here. NO WAY you're 70!!!
Thought you're 60.. serious!
Kel said he's thrilled to find someone in the group that likes Sci-Fi.
If we're living closer, you might have him as a frequent visitor. He'd bring all those "Dragonfly" dvds and watch them with you!!

Hey Gwen.. where are you?

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

lol, I love making money,,,and sewing is money,,,I like to sew, but also trying to quit smoking,,,so busy busy busy,,,no time to light one. lol
right now, going to take a break though and check on my flowers, smell the gardenias,,and check on the pool. bbl ladies.

Raleigh, NC

been posting so many photos, might as well....this is front walkway bed, totally shaded, beneath huge camelia, in front of some very very late blooming azealeas (that are just now in bloom).

planted 2 cheapo hosta s. Elegans the first summer we moved in, small 1 gal size. (the vase shaped hosta) We did have 3 drought years.

this year look - it's HUGE and getting bigger. read that these get big, but figured it wasn't going to happen for a long time - some hostas are really slow to grow. this thing is twice the size it was last year, and it was twice the size last year it was the prior three years!

OMG... Marilyn... COSTUMES?... How fun !!!

Sorry, Synda... that was in fact Crissy have a grumpy day... sorry.

Well, Jaye... look in the cubboard and pick out a bunch of stuff like Cayene Pepper, Parsley, Garlic... stuff like that... salt and pepper too... nothing sweet though... use a table spoon of each, and rub it into the meet... then smoke it for a very long time... good rule of thumb is about 1 1/2 hours for every pound of brisket. When we warmed them up the next day, we wrapped them in foil with beer... and if you remember, they fell off the bone.
Today we're smoking some beef short ribs that I bought already rubbed... I'm only going to smoke them for 1 hour per pound, then wrap them in foil with some beer and put them in the oven for about an hour to finish them off... Will let you know how that turns out.
I've also found a recipe for a marinade for pork... bought some pork riblets CHEAP at the gro store... so I'm going to marinate them over night tonight and smoke them tomorrow.
We're still experimenting... but having a blast doing it.

Yes... "The Recipe" I'm using is one of the ones that Kenboy posted... but wasn't HIS recipe... another DGer that posted there.
I just couldn't find all the ingredients to his ... but I already have the stuff to make the other one.
And, let me tell you... that stuff should be bottled and sold as gold.

Judy... what's up with the graduation ??? You still kickin' girlfriend?

I'm off to get another chore done now... BBL

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Well, Jaye, since NC is one of my favorite places I'll just come and sit on your porch and Kell and I can have a good old confab!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a beautiful hosta, Bonnie. Thanks for sharing. They're truly maintenance free. I've been lucky, so far found no slugs here.

BJ, so the secret is beer.
I can see me now.. "Emmm preacher.. the beer is the main ingredient for Tx. Ribs."
Preacher: "Jaye, if I remember correctly, the last time you bought some beer was to use it in your batter for onion rings!"

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Janice, will the sunroom do?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Janice... so good to hear from you... I'm scoping out my craft room to find space for your bed... will even hang some curtains for you, sistah. We really enjoyed your visit too... and how special that you chose to spend your birthday with us...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey... beer is a great cooking ingredient...
I'll bet... if truth be told... that that preacher's wife uses it to for cooking.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Whew.. relief here.. and wine too, BJ. Makes great sauces..

Okay.. I'm off.. have to move this hiney now. Plants and kids waiting.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

No need to go fancy smancy on me, BJ. I'll take it without curtains!

By the way, the first thing I did when I got home was make a big batch of sweet tea using your recipe. Now I always have some in the friz!

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

Okay LK,,,haven't found Elvis yet, but here is a car seat that I recovered for my girlfriend's granddaughter, it's frogs.
will continue to look for elvis. (it seems he may have left the building) lol
