Sounds like a well planned trip Crissy...I love my memories of Nashville trips..go for it..what will happen after your trip will happen as least you'll have enjoyed yourselves..no sense only thinking doom and gloom right..now listen to who is talking...
Do you think your co-worker is upset about the other day and that is why she hasn't been in?
Not sure why, Paul paid us all today..guess he won't be in Thursday..it's a plus because I can go and get $$$ changed into USA funds..omg a loss of about $800 because of the exchange..need to go get my travelling insurance as well, might do that today, not leave everything until last minute...
MUST clean out my trunk, lordy do you know I still have family christmas gifts sitting there till next I see them..was suppose to meet my sister and sister in law several times these past months but either sickness or weather interrupted our meeting..
Snow is falling more heavily, wish Paul would say, home you go..but can't expect that every day now can we...
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #98
Popping in for a bit. DS has a tennis match today so I'm waiting to hear when I need to be at the school....to help transport the team...
Crissy - that sounds like a great trip. I might want to get up to Tennessee sometime....have some family up there....if you are coming back through AL & MS, you'll likely hit LA as well and drive right by me!
Betty - now don't get nervous about the trip...everything will be so special for the boys even the smallest thing...like checking into a hotel room...since it's quite an adventure for them...just being away from Mom & Dad they will probably be on their best behavior for you just proving to themselves how grown up they are. You might want to pack a "Mom Kit". When we went we needed a pharmacy for something or another and it took a bit of time out of touring to find one and get what we needed. Eye drops, advil, sinus med, etc.
Sharran - you had to turn in early for a "Big Day" so - what is up?
Tubby - Yes I figured that! :)
Hugs,
Mary
I had errands this morning, and now am leaving for a couple hours to work in my gallery this afternoon. Some days I do very little and some days are swamped.
Luck with the tennis game, Mary.
Betty, don't worry about what could happen, because it most likely won't. Just enjoy such a great trip!
Oh Boy I'm losing it Just seen that I posted the shower joke twice..SHeeeeesh..LOL
Hey Sharran - You're likely on your way now. Is your gallery close by?
Tubby - Hey we put up with you! Just figured you did it for a laugh!
Gallery is about 8 miles from me. On my way now.
Enjoy the day Shar..you must take photo's of the gallery paintings for us..
Mary, enjoyed it when the boys were in school, parents taking turns driving 4 or 5 of them, these days with insurance and school policy, they don't tend to do it anymore...
Mary when I was taking seniors to Florida we did a side trip, little detour..lol here...went to Memphis then down to New Orleans and then Florida..everyone so enjoyed it, so yes, Crissy could make a left when she should turn right and drive right through your neighborhood...
Tubby, thought I had read that somewhere before..not to bright as well..
Just brough lunch in, took actual lunch to get travel insurance..on my way home I'll go to the $$$ store for a few things, pack my bag and make sure house is stocked with groceries for Cathy..tomorrow night I have painting at the house so it will be a late night not leaving time to organize myself...so it's do or die tomorrow...
Hello everyone. We are back from the Arizona trip. All went well. Dad had a great time! We drove straight through yesterday. A 12 hour drive took us 14 hours, giving time for food and potty breaks! Not bad at all. But I was so tired last night. I need to take time and do a bunch of reading here on daves! Everyone is so busy with gardening, and weeding, and sickness. Tubby, sorry to hear about your problems, but hopefully they caught it early enough for treatment? We will say prayers for you!
This is my dad and his Aunt Ruby. He is 75, she is 85. There were 13 brothers and sisters, and she is the last one left. She has 3 daughters, and they all have kids and grandkids, and greatgrandkids. Come August there will be 5 generations in that family!
LK - that is a precious photo! Will be very cherished in years to come. So glad the trip went well...sounds like it did worlds of good for your dad! Bless your heart for taking him...know that wasn't the easiest trip.
Betty - you are absolutely right....when I do have others on the tennis team to transport....we kind of do it ....hush hush....the sponsor/coach just looks the other way. But how else to get them there? Anyway I'm driving today because it's farther than I want DS driving ....or DS riding with 1st year drivers.
That's quite a tour of the U.S. ! slicing almost down the middle! I remember training in Chicago a million years ago - right after college (the time I visited Canada). I was placed in Metairie(New Orleans) at first. When I looked at the map.... me - little miss Florida girl....I thought I'd see beaches when I turned onto I-12 to head into New Orleans....was TOTALLY not prepared for swamps! :)
Are you headed somewhere first? or straight into DC. Your GK's all live close by don't they? The excitement should have Noah feeling better real quickly.
The Bayous! Arkansas has bayous too.
LindaKay, good looking fellow that dad of yours..wish he was a few years younger..lol..you tell him that for me won't you! how nice he got to visit..hope you got to enjoy some of the trip..stop in any craft stores?..bet they wouldn't let you...
Mary, probably what happens here now as well..all done on the sly..I remember I would drive the children skiing, me and my friend Barb..I'd drive them she'd pick them up, or visa versa..a young girl up the street whose parents had no interest in providing activity for their child put through her a guilt trip so we'd include her in our travels..not sure what we were talking about one day, must have seen an accident or something but she spoke up and said, 'my mom said if we were ever in an accident she'd sue you for everything' ok, last trip she toop with me or Barb..imagine...
Funny, same as when you arrive in Florida, ok, where's the beaches .. I'd often drive down to the Keys..hey that's a long way from the top of Florida border, almost a days drive...
I myself love travelling with a destination in mind but no time schedule, you get there when you get there..stop when you want, take sidetrips etc.
This Washington trip we'll try to drive Friday directly there but trying to stop as much as we can so the boys can use up some of their energy...
Although it's still snowing it is getting milder..walked in puddles to get into the stores..have to see what I need done in the drive when i get home, surely it won't have all melted..
Do you really Crissy...I soooo wanted to take a day to travel into the remote areas..visit with some Cajun folk, but, was not to be..one day I'll make a trip there and do more of the historic things..love walks in graveyards...that I remember, all the graves ontop of the land...older than Moses...so very interesting...
Wonder is they still practice voodoo? ooops better not tell Crissy they do, lordy knows what she'll do with that piece of knowledge..lol
Thanks Betty, I will tell him for sure. No craft stores, but we did get to a couple of plant nurseries. Well, I should say cacti nurseries. They sold mostly cacti, but had a few things like pansies, and marigolds. Most flowers don't survive the heat there, so that is why no one has grass or flowers!
I don't think I could live with no flowers! And all those prickly things!!! OUCH!
LK
Lol Betty, voodoo! Maybe I need a doll LOL
Oh I can't stand it here today. It's great that Ms. Cheerful isn't here, maybe she'll be gone all week, that's a stretch though. The other girl I was telling you about has told me 3 times that she doesn't want to be here. I've heard that from her almost every day for 2 weeks in a row. Does anybody 'want' to be at work today, or any other day for that matter?
Crissy would that doll resemeble Ms Cheerful..LOL
Judy, the house is the house. We have the important stuff that we can find, unpacked, but all the decorative and much of the stuff we don’t use isn’t unpack yet and we aren’t making great progress on it. DH has been working a lot and needs to spend time with Sage for at least a couple hours on his days off and I’ve been out with mom a lot.
I swear I spend more days mildly sick, with insomnia or a headache, sometimes a combination, than healthy, but the issues I had been having are passed. I’m doing pretty well today; Sage and I went out for a walk and to the park and I can’t find my good “Spring” shoes, just my winter, summer and uncomfortable shoes, so my feet and back hurt and my allergies are letting them self be known, but I think the daily allergy medication is helping. I was floored by allergies this time last year. We had a long cold Winter; it snowed earlier this week, and now have had 70+ degree weather, so everything decided to come up at once. So, there is a lot of pollen in the air. I think it’s better than last year, but still pretty bad. According to the Weather Channel webpage Tree pollen is low right now, but was very high this week and that is one of my worst Spring allergies.
Tubby, one of the blooms that went this way hadn’t even opened yet the other two had been open maybe one day. I’d think it was the soil, which though I’m working on, is not the greatest, but all my greenery, other than a few that got damaged during transplanting, are healthy and seem happy, if slow growing.
Laura, I felt my meds just took a huge weight off. I lost them for a couple days during the move and it just felt like I was carrying 30 lbs of weight around all day. That’s not to mention the outlook and emotional effects.
I’m glad yours are working for you.
Betty, I kept getting woken up last night, DH worked at 11 and Sage wasn’t up when mom left, Sage did get up a little before 10, but too late by that point and I’m baby sitting now so I couldn’t go out after lunch. I’m sure Dad was happy with this since he didn’t have to baby sit. So, I didn’t go out today, but I will do so later this week. I’m actually bummed that it didn’t work out, I wanted to see more of Peter, my uncle, help my aunt and work on cross stitch projects I’d picked out for the occasion. Oh well, I did spend some quality time with Sage, which doesn’t happen anywhere near as often as it should.
Hi everyone! I got home from the hostital about 5:00. I sure sam tired. I had no blockages, but a good amount of bleeding. My knee hurt all night. I don't know why! They had to give me demoral twice. The knee surgery is set for the 24th.
I'm going to bed! Later!
Audrey, your heart is ok, for the surgery? That is good news. Glad to hear you have a surgery date!
LK
Laura I asked Shirley how long ours bloomed ..She said 1 1/2 to 2 weeks..Did it get very cold without snow for a blanket..That is the only help I know..
It might very well be your soil. You don't know what could have been dumped in that spot????
Sorry about the allergies. DSis fights them a lot..
Audrey, glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I hope you start feeling better.
Tubby, we had sub-freezing weather for several nights in a row.
Laura that maybe this reason. Now what wait till next year to see if they do better?????????
Audrey good luck..Wont it be wonderful when it is over...
Well, I think I possibly have a couple more crocus blooms left this year, I have a hyacinth? bloom coming up, I will hopefully get daffodil and tulips, then later Iris. All my Spring plants are a bit behind due to transplanting. We'll see if they bloom at all, but I have hope.
Hello To All;
Sorry so late dropping by. We had the Band Booster April meeting tonight.
Unfortunately DS lost his tennis match but it was a very close game....neck & neck...if DS had more self confidence....I think he would have won...he is so hard on himself....
I'd love to see a pic of a Hyacinth bloom Laura! When you get one...
Audrey - glad you are getting closer to getting this done!
I'll read back again in a minute...trying to do too many things at once!
Hugs,
Mary
Hi all....a quick scan....spent the day at the hospital.....we've turned CCU into a craft room...SIL is knitting....i worked on clay.....was a pretty uneventful day. Tomorrow will be a bit more traumatic as they are going to try and get Peter off the ventilator again. They had taken him off earlier in the week but his throat started to swell and they had to put it back again. They have started him on a series of Steroids today....hopefully he will be able to stay off this time. As soon as they get his lungs and breathing taken care of he will be able to go straight to rehab.....so please keep him in your prayers. We will be spending quite a bit of time keeping Jackie company until Peter is better....she has too much time to think when she is there alone.....and she is an RN so she knows everything that is going on.
LK glad your trip went well,
Betty I know you are going to have so much fun with the kids.
Best...chose my swap windchime! Walked 2.5 miles, great exercise!
Worst, no nap! mid life? Insomnia? yikes not so cool!
mid life...yikes I got 5-10 minutes to make the change! (would it help if I did a dance?)
insomnia, well, guess i can catch up on some rest....heheh, I like rest, a book, tv, sewing, crafting!!
Learned, whatevr is going on, I just Don"t care for it. I am glad to have you all.
Thanky ou.
OMG TUBBY, you are just too cute, give Shirley a hug from me too, winks and smiles to you both.
Good night everyone...I better go to sleep!!!
NICE
TEQUILA AND SALT
This should probably be taped
To your bathroom mirror
Where one could read it every day.
You may not realize it,
But it's 100% true.
1. There are at least two people in this world
That you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world
Love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
Is because they want to
Be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
Even if they don't
Like you.
5. Every night,
SOMEONE thinks about you
Before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8.. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
Something good comes from it.
10. When you think the world has
Turned its back on you, take another look.
11. Always remember the compliments you received..
Forget about the rude remarks.
And always remember.....
When life hands you lemons,
Ask for Gin and tonic and call me over!!
Good friends are like stars.....
You don't always see them,
But you know they are always there.
'Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway.'
I would rather have one rose and a kind word
From a friend while I'm here
Than a whole truck load when I'm gone.
Don't you know the phrase
'stop and smell the flowers'?
Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only
God keeps You Going
'Worry looks around, sorry looks back, Faith looks up.'
Have faith.
((((Tears))))
Wow Tubby - Thank you.
Adurey I'm glady your heart is ok, but that sucks you're in so much pain! My tendonitis was acting up today big time for some reason, must be the weather change. My left arm was killing me all day!
My crocus lasted about 1 1/2 weeks, that was it! I won't buy any more of them, I'm not impressed lol!
Tubby that is way too cute! And how sweet!! LOL Shirley
Well I've been next door for, well got home at 8:30, about 3 hours, and hit the shower, talked to mom, now I'm hungry but I'm not eating, I'm not I'm not I'm not!!!
night night!
I have a favor to ask..I would like an HONEST opinion of joke about women & men showering
Nite All
Tubby
Crissy - you sound like me....if I don't eat by 6:30p - I'm not eating! I'm not I'm not I'm not! and I had the band booster meeting so went from 2:30 pick up at High School for Tennis match, drive, match, 5:50p drop off son at home from match, drive to High School for 6:30 meeting......7:30 home from meeting.....not eating dinner...
Tubby - IMO (In My Opinion) It's one of those jokes that is "most women" to the 9th power, and "most men" to the "3rd power". It's cute but not all of us do those things......
But I DO LOVE the last post you sent....I am thinking about copy/pasting it to DS's bathroom mirror.
I just found out that DS's Norwegian Foreign Exchange Student GF broke up with him Prom night. He seems okay which is totally different than last year's break up with "Girl who moved to North Carolina". But I wish I had some kind of poem/something that talks about the people in your life ...how they add to your life and then sometimes move on...sometimes hang on....etc.....
Tubby - Do you have that somewhere in your saved articles? I've seen something before that would work.... DS isn't totally heartbroken....he just wouldn't have broken up this early.....
Hugs,
Mary
Mary....
People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support,
To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are..
They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Your job is to accept the lesson,
Love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant
Thank you for being a part of my life,
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
And then there is this one, which is the last part of a much longer poem:
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. ~Flavia Weedn, Forever, © Flavia.com
Not sure which you were thinking of, but both are excellent. I think the name of this one is Forever, author is Flavia Weedn.
Great poems Shar..
So glad I did not cancel Rogers Cable tech support appt. for tonight..computer seems to work well in the a.m. and by the time I get home evenings no service...
Talk shortly..must leave early, roads not the best...
Mary not the meaning..LOL I don't think there are that many people like that.
My Question is it BAD or Just funny like I thought..I cleaned it up before I posted
Sharran good choice's
LOL Mary, if I haven't eaten dinner by 6:30pm I'm dead. Once I eat dinner I have to tell myself to not have a bowl of cereal, a sandwich, or any other type of food that is all carbs.
Betty that sucks about the internet, I'm glad you didn't cancel that appt either, we can't make it without you!!
So Ms. Cheerful is back, still not really talking bummer!!! I couldn't get a voodoo doll, I would have to look at her every day. She said she had the stomach flu, but her husband didn't come to work either, so I have my doubts on that. Karma!! LOL
you are bad Crissy..lol...
Lots of snow of the ground, my plowman did come yesterday so no need to do the drive..other walkway areas sure did need it but i decided to just let it melt..lol save my energy..
left home a little earlier than normal..got my banking done, also had a chance to pack my suitcase so everything is done..few more items for Cathy in grocery dept..omg lots of little things to worry about isn't there..
Kyle called to gab last night..they are just too cute..he went on to tell me he wasn't sure money wise what to do so to save himself carrying $$$ he and Noah would just use their bank cards...imagine, young children such as they with bank cards, most likely have more $$$ than I do in their acct. lol
A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves.
"What are you doing in there?"
She asked.
The rabbit replied:
"This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?",
To which the lady replied
"Yes."
"Well," the rabbit said,
"I'm westing."
Sorry... I couldn't stop myself.
Have a Wonderful Easter...
It's coming soon!
Lol I know.
The snow just needs to go away and it needs to warm up! I'm glad you got it plowed.
lol cute Trisha..
Sky is blue, snow starting to melt, oh happy days!
Have to go straight home tonight, Cathy is waiting for Rogers Cable internet repair serviceman, then at 7pm I've the girls who are coming painting..so long day..should close my eyes and have an hour nap..
Think I told you when Kyle called last night he was telling me they had a holocaust survivor visit the school for a few hours and how interesting she was...so today I went back on the site to check the hrs.
Museum is free but you need a pass for the exhibit, they only let so many in at different times...no charge for it but you must have it..got 5 tickets for Sat. 2:30..put the admn. fees on my c.c. and it was only $11.00 for all USA funds...so pleased with that..then I read about it and I copied this part for you to read..
At the holocaust museum DC, visitors travel aboard a cargo train, like the victims did, whilst listening to an audio montage of survivors' stories. Exhibits track the rise of the Nazi machine and, in a more positive display, the heroic efforts of others in Europe to save Jews from being caught up in the destruction. When you enter, you will be issued an identity card of an actual victim of the Holocaust; at several points in the tour, you can find out the location and status of person on your card -- by 1945, 66% of those whose lives are documented on these cards were dead.
Isn't that neat...they'll be thrilled..the 2 older boys have taken it at school so imagine the other 2 will learn about it next year...what an experience that will be...
I'm so laughing, got a calendar out and making a schedule as not to miss out on anything...put in about 6 hrs for night sleeping..lol..no not really but almost...
Will take the scenic route Friday and going to go Gettysberg, do a Civil War Museum then Hershey chocolate farm...get on a trail that goes inside for a tour, come out with a chocolate..just what they will need...lol...
