Laura, you take care of yourself..hard having to work when you are not well...whatever happened to the boss lady, did she get a promotion, has she now moved to new location..hope so!
Bad virus going around, lets hope she hasn't caught something..is DD doing ok..must be hard for her..including her in my prayers...
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #96 visit with friends..
Hello To All;
just a quick post then back for the nightshift! :)
Betty - Your lilies are gorgeous....I made notes to ask how tall they get....then read Starzz? say they are oriental lilies?....Hey they are all beautiful to me.
Where I want to plant the Asiatic lilies I do want shorter flowers...grow to no more than a foot? Unfortunately I crouched down real low to that spot today and saw some tiny portulaca's coming back from last year! But that's okay- I"ll just try not to disturb the portulaca's when I plant the lilies, then I'll have both !
Do the lilies look somewhat like amaryllis?
LK - I'm the same way - just want to sit out in the back and ponder!
Seed - do you know if I can pinch off a bit of sedum and re-plant? DH thinks I can...but I have some I planted last year that has just taken off! And I'm desperate to find stuff I might be able to trade in May.
I'm so excited about the familiy reunion Judy ! You'll have to keep us posted.
We had a beautiful day but I couldn't play in the dirt....MIL had a dual bday party for my son and DH brother's son. While there....when folks sitting around the TV...I couldn't help myself....went out and started weeding for MIL. Her back and knees are bad and she had mentioned that she couldn't do it....I've promised her to help just never gotten to it. It was funny - they all ended coming out to the back yard. MIL was telling me not to...but I could tell she was pleased. And I actually enjoy weeding sometimes when I get started on it. DH laughing at me....DFIL fussing that I shouldn't be weeding....It was lots of FUN !
Hugs to all,
More later,
Mary
Will try to make it back later, it has been a good/bad day
Laura and I took Orion to a park and a walk through deep woods near his house today, got some cool pictures in the forest....
Need serious prayers....my DHs 73 year old brother in law was helping set up for a musical event he slipped and fell into the Orchestra Pit.....broke both shoulders in back, damaged several vertebrae and broke all of the ribs on the side he fell on....
About 25 minutes after getting that news my mother called and my last living uncle just had a severe stroke...we are waiting to hear more news.....
Have to grab dinner and Laura is here to help put some stuff in the attic....will try and get back on later.
OMG Trisha, I am so sorry to hear of all of this news. I'm sending lots of prayers for you and your whole family.
Love the curtains Betty!
Laura I hope you get well real soon, you've been sick entirely too long now. Get well prayers being sent to you.
Mary just as long as you don't hurt yourself I'd say you should come to my house and help me! lol Seriously, I bet you made MIL's whole month!
So I got outside today, cut down a small "pine" tree, planted that creeping Jenny, some Sweet Peas, and Cosmos, dug a ton of weeds then realized I was getting too tired when I started digging up my bulbs with the weeds so I quit. Dave came out while I was in the middle of it and mowed the lawn and cleaned up the beds a bit. He also planted cucumbers and carrots the other day. I need a massage ;)
Trisha - I'm saying a prayer right now for your BIL and uncle. A double whammy - how difficult....
Please take care of yourself as well... (HUG!)
Crissy - loved hearing about your nightplace....sounds like "Cheers" "Where everybody knows your name...and they're always glad you came".
I need to make a point of getting back to MIL to do again. Those will come back....even grow in concrete....
Tubby shook his finger at me when I was planting the creeping jenny....I may regret it...but so far so good. I even clipped a few to try to root for DSD's planter box that Dh and she made today.
We ended up taking all 3 by the nursery on the way home today...and DSD's both picked out some flowers. Couldn't get DS 'into' it ...but hoping to instill SOME gardening into them.
Back in a bit. Going to have the "turn a new leaf - homework more important than tennis" talk with DS.....
Hugs,
Mary
Dedicated to Terry.....a bit of cheer....
Why we love children...
1) NUDITY
I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, 'Mom, that lady isn't wearing a seat belt!'
2) OPINIONS
On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, 'The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents.'
3) KETCHUP
A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. 'Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle.'
4) MORE NUDITY
A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, 'What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a little boy before?'
5) POLICE # 1
While taking a routine vandalism report at an elementary school, I was interrupted by a little girl about 6 years old. Looking up and down at my uniform, she asked, 'Are you a cop? Yes,' I answered and continued writing the report. My mother said if I ever needed help I should ask the police. Is that right?' 'Yes, that's right,' I told her. 'Well, then,' she said as she extended her foot toward me, 'would you please tie my shoe?'
6) POLICE # 2
It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me. 'Is that a dog you got back there?' he asked. 'It sure is,' I replied.
Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he said, 'What'd he do?'
7) ELDERLY
While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth
soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!'
8) DRESS-UP
A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, 'Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit.'
'And why not, darling?'
'You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.'
9) DEATH
While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his 5-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased.
The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: 'Glory be unto the Faaather, and unto the Sonnn, and into the hole he goooes.' (I want this line used at my funeral!)
10) SCHOOL
A little girl had just finished her first week of school. 'I'm just wasting my time,' she said to her mother. 'I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk!'
11) BIBLE
A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out.
'What have you got there, dear?'
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'

Opps... I hope I didn't do any of that on the webpage, here I fixed it.
Betty, I'm hoping for a job and up way too late trying to finish a project that might help that, but you do what you have to do. I'm making a web "resume" in that I redid the home page for the company I'm hoping to get a job with. I'm trying to get it uploaded, which is why I'm on now.
This message was edited Mar 30, 2009 5:44 AM
Barb see what you got started here LOL
I guess we all need to SLOW DOWN a bit when typing names. I'm sorry BEtty - hope this doesn't get out of hand. Practicing now
Betty, Betty, Betty........
Thanks for the heads up Tubby!!!!
Oh your forgiven Barb You know Batty will just laugh .Opps...LOL
Now Tabby, dear fellow, I'm sure Betty will be gracious and forgive my typo --- will you????
As I said I'm up way too late... it's 5:46am here and I haven't been to bed yet, but as far as I understand dad's going to turn my resume in at 9am and I want this redid webpage to work and be added to my "resume" for the job. It works just fine when I load it from saved, but some of the pictures won't load on the uploaded page and it's driving me nuts. I just want to go to bed. I have to be up with DSD at 7:30 and I told mom I'd be up whenever she wanted to help me tomorrow, so I have a feeling no matter what "tomorrow" is going to be a long day.
Ok, I officially hate Comcast right now. Here's what I'm doing though; I'm taking this webpage http://alpinex.com/ and turning it into this http://home.comcast.net/~alpinex/ it's the links down the side that are giving me trouble, they should have words above and pictures below, but only one of them will load and I've tried everything I can think of. I'm going to go take a nap, talk to you all later.
Laura, OMG you are tired..I'm ok with general posting but don't ask me to get that technical..hope all works out and you get the job...may I ask what type of job?
Tubby those children are adorable..good looking..again I guess you'll say they take after the wife..lol..perhaps it is a good time for them Tubby, when things are rough it's always nice to sit and gab to others..we have many local coffee shops that my goodness if you missed a morning they'd have a search party out for you..much like here..best of luck at the dentist..yep, these meds that save your life can do mega damage to teeth..prior to my episode I had strong teeth, rarely a cavity! Trade off for living right!!!!! Amen to that..
Half way here there was a terrible accident..a couple of ambulances, 3 or 4 firetrucks, tow trucks..I was about 15 vehicles behind, the police let us back up and take the Midhurst offramp..got to work on time but the girls were 1/2 hr. late...
Finishing my western sandwich then looking for something to do..trace the chair patterns I guess....
Barb, trust me, don't care how my name is typed..lol..
Wow! Can't believe how far I get behind on the weekends!
Betty, so sorry to hear about your friend.
Little story to share about my youngest son:
Saturday morning Trais was playing a game on the computer. He said, "Look, Mom, I can go to Heaven."
I answered, "When you get there, grab Paw-Paw." After I said this, I wondered out loud, "But Paw-Paw would probably not leave Heaven."
Trais asked, "Why?"
I said, "Because in Heaven, there is no sickness, no pain, no hurt, no sadness, no fear, no tears. So Paw-Paw is all better and he probably would not want to come back to Earth."
Before I could say another word, Trais replied, "Mom, Paw-Paw would come back to make you happy!"
I sat down and cried like a baby. My own 9-year-old knows the pain I feel and he knows somehow that "Daddy could make it all better." Daddy's birthday is this week and we are planning to celebrate by having his favorite meal, spaghetti, and his favorite dessert, banana pudding. I just know that Daddy will be in Heaven feasting on his own spaghetti and banana pudding!
Beautiful pics posted by all. Gotta show you some of my goodies from my garden.
Well, I'll chcek in later. Loved all the great jokes and stories.
Also loved this:
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
Love the people who treat you right and pray for the ones who don't.
julie
A job remaking and upkeeping three webpages. There is also a receiving job that might be open that DH and I would like to get.
Betty the guy that built the house and didn't clear the backyard decided it would be "cute" to plant a pine tree to have as a Christmas tree. We've never wanted it but hadn't done anything about it, Dave was out burning last Wed and lit it on fire to "slow it down" so I cut it down yesterday. We can see the whole backyard, the grassy part, now! It was about 6 ft tall, I don't know how tall that is in meters.
Dave's fine, got up at 10:00am yesterday morning and cooked breakfast for us! Then I had a hey day outside, oh I am sore today!! My butt's sore!
Laura - if you need help Dmail me, I did web programming in college and did some pages for myself as well. I have a web programming book that has that situation in it, I don't remember off the top of my head how to fix it. I LOVE doing that kind of stuff! That's why I got a degree in it LOL!
Well lets hope you both get it Laura..especially as it's something you both would love to do!
Julie, I just posted on your 'sorry' thread and here you were..was starting to worry about you..
Yesterday morning, as I do every Sunday morning I listen to Joel Olsteen..it was about living each day to the fullest..we're only alloted so much time, if wasted it can never be recaptured..he went on to say how someone had been hurt by a friend and she just couldn't get over it..not only did that person hurt her but she allowed that person to take up so much of her life, wasted by memories..
My mind from time to time goes back when I was so terribly hurt and how proud I am that I set that period of time behind me..I'm not living with vengence or hatred, I've chosen to let it go, and you know, the Lord has blessed me with so much and kindness of friends and family that I've far more than what I had before and lost...
I was half way through the post when a call came in from Diane, after painting on Thursday night her husband told her when she arrived home that his brother had passed on.. a blessing ..he wan't kind to himself..one could say he drank himself to death. He was a teacher and a musician at one time, gave it all up to drink..still sad to lose a family member that way..Diane was to leave Sunday for Kentucky for a horse show with 4 other girls, she's had to cancel..
Betty, I have to say the hurt I feel right now is making me stronger! I do know that. I can feel it because I am getting to the point where I just don't care. I cannot control others' actions; I can only control my reactions. And that's what I'm working on right now. Trying not to jump the gun and go off before I have a chance to calm down and think about it.
I'm going to Walmart late this week to pick out things for my first beading project. Guess what it will be?
love, julie
a frog??
Wishing everyone a good day.....
yes.....hoping Laura and Sean can get the jobs that are opening at the business where my husband works.....we already have two family members employed there.... they need someone to redesign and do continual updating on web sites for the three combined businesses.....they also need a shipping receiving person....Laura really needs a job, and Sean needs a new job....these positions are good pay, good hours (no working past midnight as he does now) good benefits.......just praying that this all works out...it would be so great for them!!
I have a seven thirty a.m. eye appointment tomorrow......was watching the late news last night and got strange black threads floating through my vision....now its like little sheets of gelatin (or constantly dirty glasses) floating around.....it scares me because this is the same eye that I had the detached retina a few years ago, and I do not want to go through that nightmare again...right now it it just annoying and starting to give me a headache from my eyes trying to make adjustments....seems like if it isn't one thing it three others....
The good news is my sis is coming to visit from New York! A friend who travels a lot for work is giving her flier miles and she has to buy the ticket today....so we should know soon when she will be coming.
Please give Diane and her Husband our condolences......seems like there is sooo much sadness going around right now......
If Laura isn't too tired we are going to try and get Sages room finished up today....run a few errands, then work on our studio for a little while.....but as she was up all night we may have to put off some of it until tomorrow.
crissy, thanks so much for your offer to help Laura with the web project.....she knows how to do most of the stuff, just a few places where she needs some advice so I know she will appreciate the help!
Think I will try and rest this eye for a bit until DH gets back from his meeting....some days I hate only having one car.....if the weather ever warms up he will start riding his bike to work again, then it won't be such a problem...hmmmm if Laura and Sean get jobs with Bill they could all car pool to work (or all ride their bikes)....interesting possibilities.
Julie, I did find some beads, in my gardening haste forgot to post photo but will just to make sure you can work with them..almost all white..some sequins as well...
Good for you Julie, too many times we lead our lives worrying about what others think about us..and doing that we really don't live OUR lives but that of others...I never in my wildest dream could believe I could be so self sufficient..I did learn I'm capable at doing many things but what is most amazing is the learning about myself..what I like, what interests me..it was always for others..step-daughter sure taught me a thing or two..thought it was all for the bad but you know, she did me the biggest favor..now how did I get on this tangent..
Suzanne just called, she's back in Barrie and wants to look for a comforter set for her new bedroom furniture so I've decided that I'd go to the re-use it center and measure a few outside doors..the back door going into the basement is an odd size, perhaps I can find one there...
Just finished tracing the chair bears..wow, do I have a lot of painting in store..just to pass the next 1/2 hr. am tracing design for a birdhouse..it's calld 'Bluebird Inn'..cute Victorian look...
Paul was in court this morning, he just called, everyone was gone, just poor me..anyway he'll not be in today, tomorrow he's in the city so guess I'm back to bringing in a major project to do...
So funny, as I'm tracing the pattern every once in a while I'm nodding off, best watch my head doesn't hit the desk..lol
Lunch time..
Fairy1004, You are right! A frog! Gonna get to work on it very soon!
Just read about the tooth fairy. My 10-year-old lost a tooth last night and the tooth fairy forgot. I had to take up the slack (LOL) and hide a $5.00 bill in the folds of the blanket while he was distracted. That tooth fairy always seems to forget.
Betty, I was SO independent when I started dating my husband (I had been divorced for almost a year from my first problem (oops! I mean first husband). I knew what I liked, I knew who I was, I knew ME! But after 13 years, 3 more children, and his shenanigans, I'm afraid I don't know me much anymore. I am so busy being wife and mom that I've forgotten that I am ME! I do count! That's why I love spending time with my oldest daughter- 25 years old (actually more like my best friend. I was 19 when I had her and we "grew up" together). I can tell her anything. She makes me laugh and I act "young" again.
The man I'm married to now is her real dad; it just didn't work out when we were teenagers, and I really don't want to lose him again. But I know I need to find out who I am and become ME again before I can make a decision as to whether or not I stay married.
love to all, julie
Trisha, OMG you must be frantic worrying about your eyesight....could be you are doing far too much and putting strain on that eye..detached retina let's hope not...
Wouldn't that be marvellous for the kids to get the job..know when I was manager at American Express I brought in dozens of relatives all who were great workers, that made it easier to keep employing more of them..admn. from Phoenix used to laugh, said we should call it Pauze Express.. will say some prayers that they meet the requirements...now when would they have an interview?
Julie, must be heartwarming to have a daughter you can share things with...my mother was almost 17 when she had me, then shortly after she and my dad started to work on the lake freighters - just after the war - I spend my childhood with grandma and grandpa so didn't bond as we should have...miss that...although we're close now it's just not the same bonding experience, then not having a daughter have never enjoyed that closeness!
Stacey, how did you make out with your sewing project..almost done?
Did you remember to give Janice her blackboard???? come on, share what you accomplished over the weekend, need to hear...
Betty, I got your butterfly pattern today! Thank you so much. I will get the postage back to you! Can you please tell me how the wings are attached to the body?
LK
This message was edited Mar 30, 2009 5:20 PM
LindaKay, absolutely NOT are you to send me postage, omg it's less than $1.00...friends do things for friends do they not! Just enjoy..
I have a compressor and brad nailer so I added a dab of glue and brad nailed...the original is screwed..now in the body itself at lower end they drilled a hole for the rod..I don't like that idea because the least pressure and it will crack the body so I added the little block and drilled in it instead...
In the photo I've left it as is just to show you the options..I'll stick mine in the block though..
So many colors to choose from..will look forward to seeing yours!
Backside of butterfly...
Suzanne's daughter, my niece Danielle is moving in a new home in 2 weeks, I had best get my act together..have basecoated the teddies for the chair, just put the pattern design on, now getting my paints out, perhaps not for tonight but to bring to work tomorrow..
Thank goodness the boys haven't spent a night here in several weeks, between what I've been getting in swaps, birthday gifts, pressies from Debbie, mom and a few others, there is No room for sleeping..lol..hope weather improves, they need to be put in the garden....
I lost y'all again! I checked "watch thread", but I still lost you! My surgery has been postponed indefinately. I have to have a heart cath done Mon. I'm really disappointed, I wanted it over and done with!
OMG Audrey...they must be concerned and taking all precautions necessary...that's good isn't it..know you were hoping that the operation would finally be done and no more pain..can understand how disappointed you are!
Sending you soft hugs and prayers...
