Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy how fantastic for you..and for her to attend your brother's wedding, well that's just icing on the cake isn't it!

I've been up early, it's lightly raining so can't play outside, say it will rain most of the day..I've got to clean the craft room book shelves and re-organize, should be done by 11am and that's when Fabricland opens..thinking I might pick up flannel to do a rag quilt for Caleb and Braedon..and, must not forget Stacey's material..

Had a coffee sitting outside on back deck, so nice to once again hear the spray of water..

Mary, you will just love the lillies, when sitting on back deck, they are on the furthermost garden and you can smell them..a must..

June was telling me that the Garden Nursery has skyrocket and globe trees on sale, not sure why so early in the season, you'd have to keep them inside..need to pick up at least 2 globes but have to wait

Crissy nice for DH to get out on his own...he'll probably be dead bored and home before midnight..

Trisha, are you starting to feel like yourself? how about Laura, all organized?

Laura (Wonderhug) so love calling you that..need to make a distinction between USA Laura and you....Don't they say that when you have the flu injection it should never be given when you HAVE the flu? maybe that's why you are having such a reaction..can't believe Laura that when the post office tracking # says your parcel is in Australia that it's taking over a week to get to your house..would seem that posting problems are your side of the universe and not here...you didn't get a card to say a parcel is waiting for you did you and just not see it amongst flyers? I so wanted you to have it for the weekend..

Tubby, so many choices when picking an electric range, bells and whistles..for me, I purchase the regular because I rarely use it..lol

Stacey, did you remember to give Janice her blackboard???
Is she getting you up early this morning .. bet she's impressed with your sewing ability...

Best go back to my organizing then wash the floors on the main level..then it will be time to play!

Hope it's sunshine in your neck of the woods..

Those are just gorgeous Betty. I tried to keep an eye on Tubby last night - honest I did. But when it was lights out at 8:30 for Earth Day, I'm afraid I went out too. Sound asleep. I guess I'm not a good Tubby-sitter!! I'll try harder next time....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Barb...bet he's a handfull...

what are you up to today..it's pouring rain here, dark and gloomy after yesterday but it should wash all the winter yuk away and things will start taking on a green tone..have you almost completed your sewing blocks/quilts??? must get started on mine..all those quilting books Helen dropped off are giving me the urge..

Did I tell you Roger and I spend a few days in New Hamshire and I absolutely loved it..every long weekend we'd travel to visit a friend in Boston, one year we decided to take an extended long weekend and visit..did Cape Cod, Vermont, went over to Martha's Vineyard...love the area...

The spring after Roger passed away my girlfriend Liz from Ireland came over and we left for Florida, did a little detour lol and went to Atlantic City (she loved to gamble) then took the ferry over to I think Maryland, might be wrong..know we ended up not long of a drive to Washington D.C. so guess I've done a lot of your side of the USA...

It's a dismal day here too. I still have snow to melt but nowhere near as much as there was before. The yard is such a mess from the ice storm we had in December. With constant snow since then, none of it could be picked up. We lost one big tree but had no damage from it. My azalea and my two burning bushes have suffered major damage. My quince too I think. We had to have someone come to shovel the snow off the roof. Landlord was afraid of collapse. They came when we weren't here and dumped all that heavy snow on the shrubs. I'm so sad. But nature has healing ways and I'm hoping we can save some. My quilting is going well. Right now I'm handpiecing a small Grandmother's Garden piece for a dear friend. I made her a tablerunner about four years ago and she asked me last week if I could make her something small for her table . I STILL had some pieces of the original material so this seemed like a good way to learn the pattern. It's fun....

Morning all,
Betty..
You were right when you said I would be clenaing up the leaves and cutting back some of the perennials..
But it is hard on our backs for sure. I had to lie on the couch with the heating pad after I said....enough!
It was so nice to be outside yesterday.

It is raining hard here too..no gardening today.

Your photos from last season are a joy to see. I must say you are the best dressed pond cleaner I have ever seen.
LOL ...
Your lilies that smell so wonderful are Oriental "Stargazer" lilies I think.
The other lilies that are similar are the Asiatics..but don't have the strong beauifiul fragrance. The Orientals are usually taller than the Asiatics.

This is a pic of my Oriental lily Casablanca

Beautiful Carol..Oriental Lily, a must for my list..this year for sure it's a trip to the Lily Farm up the road..

I'll have to get my lillies right..never know which is which, just know they are pretty and some have fragrance..can you remember Carol when we went to the nursery, the name of the plant that had such a nice smell to it..think it had white flowers..want to keep my eyes open for a few more..looked in the garden yesterday but couldn't find the tag....

Pretty bad isn't it when you have to take pain killers in order to rest comfortably, not smart of us is it, but know it won't stop us..so hoped I could be outside again today, guess it's the Lord's way of telling us, we've got to rest..I think I've a lot to clean, nothing like you, OMG where do you start, at the house and work to the back of the orchard???

So what will occupy you today Carol???

Barb, that looks like a difficult block to make..how nice you still had material left from the original piece you gave her..she'll be surprised...

Drats on the damage that has been done to your shrubs/plants..maybe if you prune them where the damage is you'll be ok...

When June was here yesterday, she has a love for Lilac trees, mine are old and don't have many more years left I would think, when it's warm enough to plant I'll purchase 3 or 4 more and put them in same area..perhaps by the time they grow the others can be dug up..

You walk the gardens and there is so much you want to do..right now, just dream about what's to come..Carol, imagine then you have lots of dreaming to do..

You are up to your tricks Tubby..lol..
Is everyone having a rain day?

Hi Betty,
The name of the white fall blooming flower was... (common name)..Bugbane ....I believe you bought two.
Cimicifuga "Brunette" was on my tag. There are other varieties.
This is mine blooming last year Sept 28 08

Plant them and they will bloom this year. This is a new one I bought last year as a bulb..about 3-4 $

Morning everyone. Betty, now you know we all told you, take it easy! ^_^ Hope your feeling a little better once you have gotten up and walking around a bit. I thnik we all over do it, when we finally get out in the garden for the first ime in the spring. Your garden looks like it is a lovely place to go sit, and have coffee with someone! Even is if it is by yourself. I know I love to sit out back, and just sit and ponder life!
Enjoy.
Judy, that is great news on your brothers daughter. I do hope she comes for a visit soon.

Judy..so happy for you,
Wonderful to have found your neice again.

I'm off to colour my hair now. LOL..

Bugbane, Carol is it a flower plant that is easily available..will drop into the Garden Gallery and ask if they can order some in..such a pretty picture..

Will look for bulbs as well..

Wow seems as though the morning is endless waiting for mall stores to open..

Off to get dressed then into town

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost finished organizing the shelving in craft room..about another hour left..can do that when I return..

Linda Kay, should sit more in the garden when it's in bloom but always enjoying it by weeding and walking through it..

While going through books I was given I found a book that perhaps might interest someone..now who could that be??

Been looking at the Gratrix lily site. They seem quite expensive for their lily bulbs.
I would think you can see a nice variety at the Garden Gallery that you have in Barrie. Also they should have
the Bugbane there I would think..they are a bit pricer than other perennials.

Enjoy your shopping..

Hey everyone..this is Betty in my garden last fall.

OMG, I so want to be back in your garden Carol..I've paid to go see gardens in mansions, cities etc. NONE can compare with yours...I will make another trip to visit with you but ONLY after you come and visit with me...tit for tat..my poor uncle Oliver, thank God he passed on, both legs amputated..anyway..his favorite saying was ... tit for tat, you kill my dog I'll kill your cat!...not sure where that saying came from, guess same as 'eye for an eye'...

No scanner but I will photo copy and mail out to you same for Trisha..

Carol, a smaller Garden Gallery is in Midland, I'm sure they don't have much at this time of year but I think they are open Sundays...so off I go....checking things out...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Betty, you could save so much if you had a scanner. They are only about $80.00 or so, some even cheaper!
Thanks

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have to look into that LindaKay..seems like a must..

Just got back from Midland..was ticked off..got to Fabricland at 11am-don't open until noon..what kind of plaze doesn't open until noon, lordy my day is almost over by noon..

So off I went and did my groceries, went to Norm's Gallery..Carol they did have the bulbs, said they were 5 in a package for $9.99..only trouble is the were not unpacked as yet, he offered, but they had trees down from the storms and guess it did damage to the roof..mega rain in several areas of the store, a pail in hand he was sopping up the downpour..guess I know who is getting a new roof..told him I'd be back next weekend save me 3 pkgs.

I also left my name and number, said the girl that orders would be happy to order my bugbane..told him 4...different colors if it comes in different colors...

back to Fabricland, all in a torrential downpour...she's opening the store only to find out the members sale was Fri. and Sat. so didn't purchase Stacey's material as it was $20.00 a meter..they said that another sale is coming up shortly and I could get it then..also my flannel came off sale..so I'll wait..

But they did have a pretty pillow in blue for back bedroom and had cotton window panels for $5.00 each..bought 4 and 2 window rods..I'll put them up in front of my craft book storage, that way I won't see the mess...

Off to put supper on and make a bread...

Finished the cupboard..

Good news about the bulbs and that they will order the Bugbane for you.

Just make sure that the Bulbs are 'ORIENTAL' lilies if you want that fabulous fragrance.

The Asiatic Lilies are pretty but do not have the heavy fragrance. Maybe you could get some of each LOL.

Good idea for the window panels to cover the shelving.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

They predicted rain...it is cold and beautiful sunshine out right now.....Porter and I took a walk around the yard....it is still squishy and a bit of a mess....will be so glad when it warms up and dries out! The Rhubarb is coming up!!

Looks like some good clay ideas, would love some please....yes scanner is wonderful thing to have !

Babysitting Orion for a short time then working on the Studio for bit this afternoon...time to start making some progress...I know there is a room in there somewhere and I have so many leather projects that I really must get done in the next two weeks....

I real do want to get some of Oriental Lilies this year...the smell soooo wonderful! I have a clay book that I got specifically because it had flowers in it, one is the most beautiful lily!!! Will have to try that one soon....problem is it won't smell nearly as good:(

((((HUGS)))) to my other Laura......sorry you aren't feeling well.....me, I detest any kind of shots......one of my major allergies is to "Needles" !!

LOL Betty, from last night way up there in the thread, we know the owner, manager, and all the employees in the bar and all of the regulars that frequent the bar, so not having fun isn't going to happen, one of the bartenders is my good friend. Apparently she was giving him crap about being there without me! lol He didn't get home until 4am! Thinking he's all clever sneaking in, going straight to the guest room on the other side of the house, "She'll never notice, she went to bed at 9!" LOL NOT! I called him on it this morning, he said he worked the front door because one of the bouncers had food poisoning.

I hate to brag here, but it's bright, sunny, a slight breeze, and at 1:14pm already 65 degrees. I want to go plant some seeds, or at least prep some soil. I would already be out there but my jeans are dirty so I'll have to wait til the dryer is done. I would've just wore the jeans I wore in the house all day yesterday but they stank. Oh well.

I still can't find my camera!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hate it when all of a sudden my bit has posted and I am not even finished typing...

The dog thinks it is time to go for our long walk, but just had to show you the Rhubarb beginning to pop though!!

Oh I hate it when that happens! I'm going to go check on my jeans, I'm tired of being in my underwear.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Curtain panels will do the trick, makes it easier than a sheet I had up, when I want to hide the mess I can take the tiebacks off...

ohhh best go check my cake, be back in a sec. almost forgot

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, is there a scanner at your work, maybe you can scn them from there. I hate for you to send them in the mail, if you could scan them.
Pretty curtain panels.
Trisha, that rhubarb is starting out pretty good. But what is the apple looking thing in the center?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

It is part of the plant....never seen it like that before....we will watch and see what develops..

Good Afternoon!

LOL, Betty What Mess??? I wish my mess looked like your mess.
Oh speaking of which, Got to clean mine as We are meeting Julia's Boyfriend Anthony's mom today.
We have been talking about getting together for a while soo Steve and I left them a note to invite her for dinner so today's the day.

Steve will be doing the cooking and I will help. And wow, what a novel idea, those two literally lept to the house cleaning! Yippeee. So still working on laundry!
OMG, woke up to about 2-3 feet of snow!! Fortunately, it is melting quick! suns out bright. Huge blotches of snow falling from the limbs, plopping down everywhere.

Trisha was grand chatting with you as always! LOL, now I have to tackle this cooking the clay, phooey little sprite didn't harden like I thought. Sooo, back to clayboard! But will have to wait til tomorrow. We'll see...

Also, wow,the ruhbarb leaves look really cool. Yep wondering what the reds are as well. Bet it's the new growth.

Betty, how are you feeling after your workout? Iam stiff just from seeing all you did.

Carol, I am anxious to see if my Oriental Lily comes up, when it does i think I will relocate it and build a little cage so the deer don't eat it, same with my Sedum, last year it attempted to grow 3 times and the deer just chomped them right down to nothing, so Nicely surprised to see it trying again. LOL, talk about survival of the fittest!

Well, i better go and do a bit of organizing.
See you all later, enjoy the day.

Glenview, IL

oops for to show you Our Sprites, Jakes is the tall good looking one.
Mines the Tigger looking one! LOL.

Trisha I'll post on the clay thread when I take another quick break.
Oh and show your Elf...He is so adorable.

Must tell you, didn't burn the 2 cakes but they are a little browner than they should be..guess it was the extra 10 minutes they stayed cooking..was going to bring one to Bernice/Cliff for supper, nope, going to keep it for me..into the freezer it goes..
At least the bread machine isn't letting me down..lol

Day is getting cooler, I'm a bit tired, think I'll just basecoat that table/chair set, at least one or two of the chairs while I watch a movie, it will be early to bed tonight for sure..
