Betty, are there any fish left from last year? Or do you have to replace them all?
Looks like you have been very busy in the yard. Please don't over do it!
Does insurance cover the reapirs to your fence?

I smell like sewer, should eat but think I'll continue the pond, can't believe it's 2:00 pm..perhaps Ill be able to wash up, skip into town and try and purchase an extension arm for the pump water feature, seems I've misplaced mine..if not, I won't fill pond as high until I can order one in...

Making headway though and enjoying..the garden around the pond has been raked..only about 8 more to go..lol

And that's how my day is going..I'm grinning from ear to ear!

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

Linda Kay actually fencing belongs to neighbor, highly unlikely after having a fire and them replacing the house will they put a claim for a new fence...tall yellow flowers about 6' tall will grow in same..when the ground thaws enough I'll put maybe 8 to 10 feed there so I can make it pretty, always have a table/chair set there so I'll fix it up..

You are right about overdoing..managed to get the garden around the pond raked, also, the upper garden as well..maybe 5 or 6 more piles to burn and my day is done..I can feel my shoulders paining so other than switching off the water..that's it...

I'll have to call it a day..look at what the weatherman is calling for tomorrow, just maybe I'll get 4 or 5 more hrs. of cleaning done..if nothing else all the leaves, branches poop raked up..big yard for this little girl..

Pond is filling, nice to hear the sound of water again...

It's amazing, here I tried to keep an ivy alive inside and as I rake, look at this beauty that survived under the snow, below freezing temps...

Did the fish make it from last year? Probably not, if you said frogs were bloated and floating.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, love your ponds, it is all going to be so pretty, when it all starts growing for you again.
Love those litle surprises, don't you.
Amazing how something can survive, when we pamper them so in the house!

Victoria Harbour, ON

the fish did survive for 2 winters..I left all but 2' at the bottom undrained so unless they are hidding there, nope, no fish..I'll have to purchase some come late spring..kitties won't go in the water but they sure love to watch them..

Got another garden cleaned..no to burn the leaves..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Linda Kay, I'll have to take of photo of the flax..one of my favorites, so miniature and always providing blue or maroon or white flowers..here they are under the snow, about 6" in growth hardly a hairpin for a stem and they've survived..

I was feeling so depressed looking outside after a long winter, seeing the filth, but just today my heart is singing, know it's mega work to do the yard but I'm as happy as a lark...will have to put one of my birthday gifts out there...

Imagine it will take another 3 hrs. or so to fill the pond, more after I purchased the extended arm which I cannot find..watch me purchase one and find it minutes later...oh well it will be an extra...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

I'm in between thoughts here, shoulder are so sore, have about 5 piles of leaves to pick up and burn, if I don't do it and it rains, what a mess, body saying 'no do it tomorrow' but I know I have to have one more burst of energy...

Flax growing strong..

Will be so nice to have leave on the trees..never know I have neighbors once the leaves are open...

Well I've rested long enough..time for the last of the leaves, then a warm bath, and I know the # for the restaurant next door..I'll even have them deliver..lol

Chicken Souvlaki and greek salad..

Nothing lazy about me, or is that called prioritizing

Good message here.....

When your hut's on fire

..The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small,
uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him.
Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed
forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little
hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to
store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he
arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling
up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was
lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried
out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he
was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had
come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary
man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story: It's easy to get discouraged when things
are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work
in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering.
Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to
the ground, it just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace
of God.

This is to funny..We had a good laugh..Shirley's sis is a lawyer in MO
This is from ClanCampbell..Posted on Daturas: Datura: Joke Contest

When Grandma Goes To Court

In a trial, the small Southern town prosecuting attorney called a grandmotherly, elderly lady to the stand as his next witness. Approaching the stand, he then said "Mrs. Jones, do you know me?" Mrs. Jones looked him up and down and replied "Why yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've known you since you were a little boy and what a disappointment you turned out to be! You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think that you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realize that you'll never amount to nothing more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you!"

The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he turned and pointed to the defense attorney. "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?"

"Why yes, I do!" Mrs. Jones again replied. "I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster too! He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the state! Not to mention that he cheated on his wife with 3 different women and one of them was YOUR wife!! Yes, I know Mr. Bradley!"

The defense attorney about died!

The judge asked the two lawyers to approach his bench. In a very quiet voice, he said "If either of you idiots asks her if she knows me, I'll send you BOTH to the electric chair!!"

Another New One today

'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.'

Of all the gifts you could give a US or Canadian Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.

Tubby I needed a laugh...lol..

Judy, wonderful news..I'm sure if she's tried to locate your brother she'll be thrilled to talk and get to meet you..isn't this a glorious day for your family..

Chilled to the bone..nightime and it's getting cold as am I..
NOT going to tell you how I'm feeling because I just know I'll be in deep do/do..

Noah and his friend Shane dropped in, couldn't talk them into a restaurant meal..just came to visit, had a pop and on their way..

As Stacey will tell you, when you order a meal at the little restaurant they give you enough for an army..so guess what I'm having tomorrow..

It's earth night..making sure every light in the house is off..
Starts at 8:30pm..entire planet might be in darkness..will you..

Stacey you know where you had your picture taken with the iron art in Barrie park, big bands all set up for tonights concert..me, I'll be in bed, but think Greg/Mel and the boys might go..

I always pray to St. Anthony - patron saint of lost objects..wanted to find the 2nd piece to my pond water feature..in about 4 times, looked in same place as it was stored for the winter, no go..each and every time I went outside and look at the unit..guess what, no 2nd piece at all..pond's full..

Got the dickens from Greg for doing so much in one day, of course Noah had to tell him grandma was having a hard time walking because of her leg...drats..have to teach those grandchildren what 'shhhh don't tell' means unless of course it's me trying to find something out...

Animals are now fed...off I go for a quiet night..

Barb, leaving you in charge of Tubby..you keep a close eye on him ..he's full of mischief as always...

Night/night everyone

Best of the Day.... played in the Gardens
Worse of today... I'm getting too old for all this work

Betty-haven't gotten to the sewing part yet-I had to cut out 48 reg squares and 96 muslin squares this am, then I had to match them and had to iron and pin-all ready to sew which is really the quick part-the prep is what takes forever!!

A concert sounds cool!! A little too chilly for me though:)

GUESS WHAT MY VEGGIE IS TONIGHT?? Yup-TURNIPS!!! THey were little though, about 1/3 of the size of what you had, so I got 4 since DH eats like it is going our of style!!LOL

She'll be excited to hear from you! A sad story although with a happy ending.... :)

It was gorgeous today, and we had a Band Jambalaya fundraiser. We did very well...I'm still waiting for the final tally from the treasurer....

Betty - I do believe you got more done outside today then I get done on any day ! WIsh I could've planted today but the ground is still soaked and DH says to wait.

I'm headed to DG to look up Asiatic Lily.

Hugs,

Know I won't be able to sleep, now that earth hour is over perhaps I can leave the light on and look at craft/garden magazines...

Always happens, work/work/work and only thing I seem to get is more energy..

Stacey, looking forward to seeing your project..

Turnips! way to go girl..and you all thought I wouldn't be able to give cooking lessons..lol

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Betty! Nice to see you here this time of night!

I have a space that I'm looking for some flowers for. Our theme is tropical. I found the asiatic Lillies at the nursery today and they definitely fit the 'tropical' look.....

This is a sandy spot, good drainage, full sun, I had portulaca's there last year but I have portulaca's in another area. So I'm looking for something different.

Hugs,
Mary

Good evening everyone!! I'm thinking about going to bed, no partying for me even though Dave went out. He was supposed to work tonight but got a call this afternoon saying he didn't have to go in, so after I took a hot bath cause it's really cold here today and got my jammies on he decided he was going out and I've had a couple of girls nights out so it's his turn to go out without me, the only problem is it's not a boys night out, he's by himself. Iye yey yey.

Betty looking at those pictures makes my body hurt! That's a lot of work but kudos to you! Your yard looks completely different in the winter after the snow is gone.
