Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #94visit with friends..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I am so glad Betty and Stacey are having such a good time and getting so much done! I'm also glad that Betty likes her pressies.

Laura what a cute cute puppy Harley is! He's going to be a good dog.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you all again for the pressies..

Laura, do hope your blue days will shortly be behind you..perhaps this week you'll get something to make you smile..don't know why my slip for postage says it has to be signed for? Didn't intend to put you out of your way to pick the parcel up...let's hope it's this week..postal lady says it will be...

Everyone, I'd love to stay and talk but we've just washed the paint brushes , off for bath, relax 1/2 hr. and then off to bed..

Stacey said to tell you all that I can cook..in the midst of all this crafting I cooked turkey dinner and baked an apple pie..said she took a photo just to prove it..

DIL and Kyle dropped in to pick up Sophie on their way home from snowmobiling, Melanie asked Stacey what I cooked for dinner and laughed, said she was surprised I cooked..

What did we accomplish today...all we started out to do..
4 sleighs
2 sets of candles
a project that I can't say what it is, but quite extensive
2 sets of butterflies for me, then 2 for Stacey and 1 for Cathy
2 blackboards
1 blackboard note piece
a few tips of the trade..

Tomorrow is another day..we decided as tired as we are even though we've painted our butterflies, they can wait till morning to get put together...amen to that..lol

Just realized that I don't think I even combed my hair today...put on my painting clothes and that was about it...oh well, we crafters don't have to look pretty, just make pretty things..

Stacey's 4 sleighs SHE made!!! she now has a zillion ideas of how the technique could be incorporated..

Las Vegas churches
Accept gambling
Chips

THIS MAY COME AS A SURPRISE
TO THOSE OF YOU NOT LIVING IN
LAS VEGAS, BUT THERE ARE MORE CATHOLIC CHURCHES THAN CASINOS.

NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME WORSHIPERS AT SUNDAY SERVICES WILL GIVE CASINO CHIPS RATHER THAN CASH WHEN THE BASKET IS PASSED.

SINCE THEY GET CHIPS FROM MANY DIFFERENT CASINOS, THE CHURCHES HAVE DEVISED A METHOD TO COLLECT THE OFFERINGS.

THE CHURCHES SEND ALL THEIR COLLECTED CHIPS TO A NEARBY FRANCISCAN MONASTERY FOR SORTING AND THEN THE CHIPS ARE TAKEN TO THE CASINOS OF ORIGIN AND CASHED IN.

THIS IS DONE BY THE CHIP MONKS.

Baton Rouge, LA

HA! I've heard that one.

Where is everyone/ anyone? I'm headed back to disboards.com....will check in later.

Unless - I can plan a DIsney Trip for anyone... :)
Mary

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Mary,

Got a start on my Fairie Door....Baked Chicken for dinner, no work to that.....took Sages bed frame to their house...Laura not exactly happy but if I have to choose between grumpy Laura and Grumpy Mother...I will put up with Laura! Baseball is on, we are getting beat so might as well find my hinges and go back to the Door....

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Trisha;

Do you have a whole Fairie village in your garden? Is Laura having a hard time settling in?

I would think with all they've both been through...the new home is still going to be a bit stressful for a while.

Are you watching professional baseball or a home college team?

Hugs,
Mary

PS - bedtime in 1/2 hour.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

On the fairie village, not yet....need to experiment with the polymer outdoors...all my little ones are inside right now....

They aren't completely settled yet, her DH works full time and Laura has been over Dog Sitting for my MIL this week...her dogs are 1. Very spoiled, 2. the older one is starting to have some health issues, so Laura has to sleep over as due to their training, or lack there of, they can't be left alone more than a few hours (according to MIL).....oh well, she pays very well for the service and they need the money so guess I shouldn't gripe.

Classic Baseball.....USA got their head handed to them by Japan tonight.....so the final is giong to be Japan/Korea.....should be a good one!

Baton Rouge, LA

That's really neat....where do you keep the fairie village?

I can certainly understand the stress they are going through. Laura's been out so she can't get settled in....I know from before we put Indy down...an old dog can be such a handful....

Bedtime in 9 minutes. :) GOT to make it in on time tomorrow since I did not last Thursday & Friday...

Hugs,
Mary

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Don't really have a village, just the few fairies and the troll I have shown here,in flower pots and on tables, working on the whole set up though..

Had to go over to the Write Robin and read Sharrans latest addition....I am so hooked on their stories!!!

Have a good night....don't be late.

Hugs,
Trisha

Baton Rouge, LA

Thank you Trisha! LOVE SHARRAN! She really helped me through a tough time a few weeks ago and won my heart!...

I guess she is busy tonight....

Need to read up.

Hugs - Final goodnight....

Mary

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Night Mary, have a good one.

Baton Rouge, LA

NIght NIght Trisha! See you tomorrow!

Dog For Sale

Even if you don't own a dog at present,
you'll appreciate the efforts of this
owner to sell her dog.
Read her sales pitch below...

Dog For Sale

Excellent guard dog. Owner cannot afford to feed
him anymore, as there are no more thieves,
murderers, or molesters left in the neighborhood
for him to eat.

His name is Tiny.
Most of them knew him as 'Holy Moly!!'

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning you all...

Trisha did your team win? from what I've seen your clay art ability far surpases what you need to create a village...oh my, your mom sounds like my mom when it comes to dogs..

Tubby thanks for the 'smile'....

Mary, you must have been tired yesterday after the gang you had visiting..

I'm up, Stacey was up but for a few seconds, she's back in bed, I'm trying to be ever so quiet..going to do my hair, have a coffee, can't be noisy doing that now can I...

Today, we brad nail our butterflies, clean our work shop and we're ready to roll on Stacey's sewing project..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

You two are certainly busy! How fun!!

LOL Terry! I've heard that one too, love it!

Well I need to start working here, making phone calls and all I'm getting are busy signals, typical for a Monday morning. I'll get someone here one of these hours.

I've got to take pics this evening of the things I planted Saturday afternoon. There's a vacant lot next to mine and my next door neighbor came over asking if I could play, lol we went over and dug up some nice daffodils and I found some Leek growing, so I have Leek in my front flowerbed now! I love Leek, don't know the first thing about growing it, but I'll read in the veggie forum and find out. It was all wilted yesterday but this morning when I left it looked like they were starting to come back, so that's good.

Gots to go! See ya later!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!

Wow, so much going on, I don't know where to begin.

Well, Stacey and Betty, sure are the busy crafters. I enjoyed your days.
What prety presents for your Birthday Betty. Your gardens are going to be just lovlier with the additions.

Speaking of which, i have to grumble again, grumbling very loud, dang squirrel shimmied right up my bird feeder, grrr I am going tohave to resort in a 10 inch round pst lol, see if he can shimmy up that! Then more grumbling...that polish cat is back chasing after my feathered friends...so i tell it to go etchte...and he rolls over for a belly rub!!
just crazy already and season hasn't even begun.

belly growling now so see you soon.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. How are you all doing today? Hope you all had a good nights sleep?
I have my angel garden almost done. I have 20 angel trumpet plants in there so far, and I am thinking of puttting maybe some zinnia's and or some dahlias in the back along the fence, and maybe something else to fill in for ground cover. If anyone has suggestions for full sun ground cover, please let me know!
I placed the new angel statue in the center back, and my new leaf birdbath center front. I still need to make a base for it. The empty keg is just to show where it is going.
There will be 2 more little planters made to go out front, made from the timbers, so maybe I can use the timbers for a birdbath base?
Betty, don't work too hard, but let us know how the sewing lessons go.
LK

Sorry, I forgot the picture.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Tater55 saw your picture on the other thread. That looks so nice and all your hard work shows. Wish I could help with info on ground cover but I know diddly about plants. Sure sounds like it will be pretty.
Betty don't you work Stacey too hard and be sure to give her all the tips for easy sewing.
Everything you two have done so far is wonderful and I'm sure Stacey's quilt will be too.
Have fun... That's the best part!!!!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I wish I could put my brugs outside now! I'm afraid to do so, it might still freeze here. I know it'll frost again. I need my living room back!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Morning all! well, looks like mom is going back to WA tomorrow night...so trying to spend as much time with her as I can today and tomorrow... I wont get to see her again until may, and that seems sooo far away! lol!

Stacey those santa sleighs are beautiful! I love the northern lights one! really pretty! cant wait to see the butterflies when they are all assembled.

Trisha are you going to show us a pix of your door? You are so creative...I'm anxious to see what youve created now lol!

Judy, I know all about those aerobics! careful...bodies have a way of reminding us there are muscles that we didnt know we even had....til they start hurting lol! hope you have a nice relaxing restful day. I know I was thankful for the rain here, sat night and sunday...gave me a chance to rest up lol!

LK LOVE that new bed!! and the angel statue! beautiful! is the birdbath going to sit outside the bed where it is now or inside? Think the timbers would make a nice stand for the birdbath..but how do you attach it? I wish I could help with the ground cover plants...but I have no clue :o(

Crissy, I hope you post photos soon, anxious to see what youve done! I transplanted some spanish bluebells and they wilted at first too, but after a good watering they perked right back up.

Audrey, is it still cold where you are? no snow is there? how are you doing??!!

Betty...now dont YOU overdo it today :o) cant wait to see what the two of you create today! hope you share more photos...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I feel bad because I just took them, I feel like I stole something, but the lot is vacant and not taken care of. These were not in rows, just bunched up together entangled in Bermuda Grass and other miscellaneous weeds. Oh yea, we dug up a bunch of garbage too while we were digging, like a hub cap, a garbage can lid, pair of shoes, beer cans. A royal mess.

I'm going to take a couple of pictures when I get home.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

ha, dont feel bad crissy....just think of it as ...you SAVED them! :o)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think the bird bath will stay there? Still not for sure. I may just place it up, inside the garden on the ground? What part of Washington is your Mom from? I have a Brother that lives in Bremerton.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Always stressful when mom has to leave. I'm trying to get my dad and his girlfriend down here but things keep happening I don't think it's going to happen anytime in the near future.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Betty, I'm glad you are finally getting to the sewing. I am excited to see how the rag quilt works. You both have really been busy and have cleaned up lots of projects. Can we all make a plan to come over and spend time with you? Oh, what we could learn!! in just a few days.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

As for the ball game Betty, USA got beat out by Japan big time....so the final will Japan vs. Korea....should be a really good game because they are both incredible teams....at least a couple of "Our" players are on the Japan team.

So envious of everyone that is out in the garden....cold and windy with rain predicted here today...

I am half way through with the fairie door if I don't run out of clay...I would love to make all of the figures and scenery that are depicted in this book....it is all soooo cute!!

Stacey, Your sleigh turned out absolutley wonderful.
Each so very different. Just beautiful.

Anjl, enjoy the rest of your visit with mom. Funny because at work i would blabbin away about all that I am doing in the gardens. The clean up is enormous all by itself...But while i was doing that DH, finally got the siding on the house up. what a difference. We will let it weather for a few weeks and then finish the stain. I am giddy with excitment as it has taken him a very long time to get to this point!
This year it will get completed, woohoo.

LindaKay, Oh my how wonderful your new garden space will be...just my opionion, bird bath in the garden bed. That is one heck of a leaf? did you say? oH...AND FINAL DECISION, i GUESS WOULD BE HOW YOU PLAN ON FILLING IT, DO YOU HAVE TO CLIMB TO REACH....oops sorry about the caps, lol i was not screeching at you. But wherever you decide is going to be a splendid touch.

Well, I am currently writing my commercial. Geesh, did alot of stuff in 21 years it is hard to consolidate it all in one page. So I decided it is best if i first sit and write it all out, sort of outline.
LOL, was telling a friend of mine, that it takes what seems an eternity just to state my name and where I worked. Anyway it seems to be a good way to rest and do something constructive.

Crissy, I agree, you saved the flowers. LOL, not to mention you have a neat storey to tell about them. I too saved some flowers from a certain doom...When the house next door was sold and up from demolishment, I went over and rescued some spring bulbs. I did ask the neighbor if they wanted them and he said no, I could keep them! So smile at them when they show their pretty lil heads.

Ok back to work!

Started to take some photos but batteries died so charging them then i can show ya some of my work from the weekend. Ahhh and so my season has begun. I am thinking tomorrow will go buy some soil and start a few, not many but a few plants indoors.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

oooh, Trisha I love those lil figurines! maybe someday I'll learn polymer...just too many other things demanding attention for now lol!

LK, Mom Lives in Rochester...just outside of Olympia. I think she's gonna be in for a shock when she gets back home...based on trishas weather report lol! its been really nice here, except for the rain and wind on sunday our temps have been high 60* and into the 70*s...nice sunny spring days, still gets a bit chilly at night...but nothing like it is in WA, Moms been here since the 9th...so she'll have to re-adapt to the cold and rain again lol!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I didn't think of the weather difference! She's not going to like that...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

well, she IS taking the train back.... so will leave here tomorrow and arrive in WA on Wed (24 hour ride) so she'll have a tiny bit of acclimation if she gets off the train in OR..etc lol.

Judy, I would love to see pix of your yard!

I'll try to log back on later tonight, for now gotta take my dratted car back to dealer...they replaced a tire on sat, but now the flat tire light is coming on again...and no flat tire. ugh! there is a downfall to all these electronic gizmos on a car lol! at least the dealer is within walking distance to joannes, so mom and I can browse while car is being repaired. Then off to a dr appt this afternoon. hopefully when I get back there will be an update from Betty on all that she and Stacey accomplished today! anxiously awaiting to see what they create today... lol!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I know!!

It only takes 1/2 an ounce low on air to make the tire light come on, their gauge is probably off. Mine flashes until I do something about it. Very annoying but good for the tires and my pocketbook.

Ocean Springs, MS

Sorry I haven't been on lately, but things are just weighing me down.
Journee will have her tonsils removed April 2. The lawyer has put off filing the bankruptcy until her surgery bill comes in.
Meanwhile, I am in a constant state of depression and confusion. I asked hubby to leave last week but he wouldn't. The boys want to go with him, but he says he can't bring them to his mom's because of his dad's cancer. I won't leave the house without my boys. My husband told me that he was not "IN LOVE" with me anymore. Quite devastating because you can't make someone love you. I realize now that I have to do something. I know it will be an awful, messy fight to take the boys from him, but I have never left one of my children and I can't leave them now. No matter what!
Colt is still not speaking to me.
Can someone tell my why boys treat their mothers like this because it is breaking my heart? I'm the one always home with them, cooking, doing their clothes, getting them up for school, taking them to school, helping with homework, signing papers, and so on. So, why do they choose dad over mom when it comes down to a split? love to all, julie

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Julie, I am so sorry for your troubles. How old are your boys?

Baton Rouge, LA

Julie -
Is it too late to try therapy? Even if he won't go - It might help you. I tried to get my DD's into therapy but they refused and then I realized it was actually helping me...so I just continued to go without them...

You sound as if you need a shoulder to cry on right now....I wish you peace......

I know how torn up I get when things go awry with the family....

LK - Well here's a beginner giving advice...but what about a potato vine? If you look it up in DG you will see how I used it as a ground cover....it's bright green color is really cheery.....DH couldn't stand it though....I had to go cut it back towards the end of the summer....but maybe not where you are at....

Judy - love the aerobics....

Crissy - I vote that you "Saved" them. DH "Saves" plants from empty lots all the time. He caught a wrecking crew about to bulldoze right over a palm tree once....and they told him to take the palm....they were just going to kill it.....

It's all how you look at it....

Julie - I wish I could stay with you but I have to go....at work and there's a meeting I'm headed to.....

Hugs to all - Special hugs to Julie....

Mary

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

{{Julie}} I agree with getting the boys into counseling, if you havent done that already. I agree with you on the mom/dad tugging at the heart stuff. I raised my oldest on my own, he went on weekends to visit 'disneyland dad' the guy who never paid child support --etc, all I heard for years was... "I'll just go live with dad!" so when he was 14, I called his bluff, packed his stuff and sent him to dads. well, dad didnt do laundry, or cook, or clean etc... so about a month later...son decided he wanted to come home after all. It was so hard letting him go, especially since thru adult eyes I could see that it was going to devastate him knowing what the truth was...but in the long run...well, I never again heard him say he wanted to go live with dad lol!

my youngest is 12, and spends ALOT of his time with his dad (different dad) but his dad is a really good man and really, really active in my sons sports etc. I think he is more bonded with his dad, than with me, but I figure he's a boy and needs that bond. I will say that thankfully his dad and I get along great...so that makes a huge difference. we are both willing to share him and usually just let him decide whos house hes staying at that night etc. I could have never done this with my oldest sons dad...in that situation the two of us were always fighting over what was in the best interest of my son...it was a horrible mess that I wouldnt wish on anyone!

My heart goes out to you, but remember that God doesnt hand us anything that we cant handle...and He will be there for you always.

AnjL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dropping in for a few seconds before I begin supper..we've had a non stop day-even included a trip into Midland .. of course we had to go to Fabricland and see what goodies they had..Stacey did pick up a few discounted remnants..I'm so laughing, Stacey just called me, said she speeded up the sewing speed..that's a good sign, she's more confident..

She working silently on her sewing project..doing a magnificent job..omg she's hooked..

All the butterflied turned out A+ so whoever wants a pattern let me know and I'll copy and post..no scanner...not a problem though..

Julie,I sure wish I had words of wisdom to offer you..I can't imagine just how hurt you must feel..almost betrayed..know when my DH passed on and his family treated me so shabily, the boys still wanted to see them, needed to be close to what reminded them of their dad..it hurt like 'h..l'..eventually things worked out ok..

Sometimes Julie you almost have to be cruel, show hard love and as AnnMarie says..perhaps a little stay with dad is what they need to realize what a great mom you've been...best I can offer Julie is prayers and know that I or all of us are always here should you want someone to talk to...going to be around more Julie once Stacey has gone, always at the computer..will d-mail my tel.# should you need someone to talk to..

Judy, must see photo's of the work you've been doing around the house..shucks, soon you'll have to get a job there will be nothing left for you to do!

Crissy, not to fret, just think of the care you'll give them, they's flourish where perhaps left on the other lot they'd just have died..do you make 'leek' soup Crissy?

AnnMarie, sorry you are feeling down, always nice to have 'mom' around, especially when you haven't been feeling that well..what did the doctor say today???

Hoping both Laura's are doing ok today!

OMG Linda Kay, that's beautiful..tremendous amount of work..how pleased you'll be to see it all abloom...can't help you with what to plant as the climate is so different from mine...how long did you say that bed was?

How's work going today Mary...bet your son's friends are still talking about the awesome 17th birthday party he had...

Kyle and Noah came for lunch today, was nice that Stacey got to meet the 2 boys....on our way back from town dropped into Aunt Muriel's..showed Stacey the river in her yard just ladden with trout..Aunt Muriel had just taken mom's quilt off the quilting racks..not sure, but think she said she put 180 hrs. into it..lot's of quilting..

Best go check on my sewing partner..our time together is nearing the end.. I do think we've had loads of fun, accomplished everything and more ..

Who is next..

Laughing with Stacey, she's only 1 full tank of gas away from me...lol

Batteries are charging, back shortly
