Hey Trisha, is Laura going to school for something or did you mean, Sage? Yes it's cold here too barely 30, bbrrbbrrbbrrr and I'm heading to the hot tub to get warmed up. Then time to get to work on house and cragts. I'm behind on my Spring swap because I've been working outside since Saturday

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Here ya go, Cindy... I wanted to take a pic when they got some of the pavers laid so I could show the pattern...
BTW... it's a company policy, they can't take their CPS shirt off.. (Concrete Paver Systems)...
Another worker showed up... so, now there is 7 of them.

Oh how pretty your yard is going to be when it's all done. You are one lucky lady to find all these great deals.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Doesn't happen very often, Cindy... deals are hard to come by...
Actually... when I told Don this morning that he offered to do the work in the Secret Garden for FREE... Don asked me what I had to do in return... him mind was in the gutter... I said, I don't know yet, to just be glad he didn't have to pay for it... LOL...

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey Donna, look back on the past few weeks or so. You've been going, going, going and with the stress of what you are going through your house, you've forgot to take care of Donna. You need to take a break now and then and take care of YOU!!!! ^_^

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

There will be more beautiful days, Donna... take care of yourself till you get well... I was sick the last 6 months of last year... couldn't hardly keep up with myself, much less the yard or house... so, this spring, I'm reveling in all the work to be done, and feeling good doing it.
BUT
I'M SO SORE !!!

They broke for lunch... and Manuel said he thought it was going too slow.
SHEESH... one half is complete already, and almost done with the other half... I'd be a month doing all that.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

BJ, now you be careful. We don't need you over doing it and getting sick again. Is that the front of your house or back? It is going to be ssssoooooo nice when they are done.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

BJ, that is going to be so nice when finished! Love the pattern they chose. Will it be set with concrete? Or just sit as is? Sounds like you need a day for a massage and hot tub soaking!
Cindy, can you bring her your hot tub? LOL

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

It's the front of the house, Cindy. It connects the drive way and Don's shop & gate to the secret garden area. Goes all the way across the front of the house.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

No concrete, LK... it just lays like that, and we'll pack dirt on each side to help hold it in place... The neighbor has a whole drive made the same way, and it's very secure.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cool. It looks really nice. Can't wait to walk on it in a few months!!!
LK

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

bj That looks great what about the rain season it won't float away Just joking ^_^

Kimmy

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey Kim, do you know if the house was appraised befor they put it on the market? Most lenders ask for that befor they give you a loan. They want to make sure that the property is worth what you are asking loan for.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I was reading in another thread about noises so they told me to post my ghost story in this thread. Some of you may have already heard it. Dang hereis 12:10 and all I've done is unload dishwasher. I need to get busy........................TTYL ^_^

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/948339/#new

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cindy, is that a real story? Wow, I don't know what I would do if I had that going on inmy house!
Todd and I watch the ghost investigation stories on tv all the time.

LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

You are right Cindy....it was Sage not Laura,....,.,I am completely beat....went back to sleep (fell asleep in the recliner is more accurate)........I think Laura had the right idea. just recovering for the day.

Kim glad to hear your dad is getting to come home.

See If I can get rid of my headache and turn into a human being. Sean was at the emergency room with his neck and back problems night before last...he isn't supposed to be lifting things right now. Bill and I will probably go over and get Sages bed put together and her dresser moved in from the garage so she can sleep at her house tonight. need to start getting her back into a normal routine.

Raleigh, NC

Kim, thanks for the MLS info, had fun reading it.

what this housing market is doing to prices! Ouyvay. the accountant says we need a new appraisal, just got one seven months ago, to prove to IRS what house is now worth. the county revised home values (tax appraisals) eighteen months ago, now they are waaay too high yet IRS used them. the first appraisal came in $20k higher than sale value, in my opinion, which peeved me, but $20k lower than tax value.

Kim, if you purchase the house, after you're done moving in, go check with your county and see if you can challenge the tax valuation. when and how you can challenge varies a very great deal from place to place. You don't need a male for those numbers! Randall is still certain "earnest money" is a communist plot.

BJ, that's looking so awesome. can't wait to visit again and see progress on secret garden.

Now it's my turn to come down. Think it's sinus infection. Had to refill my allegra prescription in San Antonio because of their cedars, couldn't find them on returning. I take it because when I don't during pollen season, VOILA! sinus infection - oh blast it all.

Trisha, you're reminding me of why I don't live in WA anymore ^_^

Cindy... just read your story... scary... bet you were glad to get out of there.

LK... come to find out, they're laying a concrete footing around the outside of the pavers... so, it will never move... ever.
Got two guys cutting the pavers in the curves on one side, two guys setting the footing on the first side, and the others starting the digging in the secret garden... I can't keep up with them all.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Well Im still alive but icky is an understatement.. I think you all are right .. Too much stress and not enough time to just relax has made this worse than it shoul dhave been.. On the upside my pepsi and ciggarette habits are about broken..

Kim please tell me you had an inspection done?? Buying this house was a nightmare for the first 2 years due to a shady inspector.. Just please be careful...

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

BJ that path looks great.. I woul dlove to have a whole driveway done like that..

Cindy please tell th ewhole story .. I love Ghosts and have one here already..

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Awwww.... Donna... go back to bed, dear.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes LK, it's true. There was one time I had my mom's poodle while they were on vacation. I found him sitting in kitchen staring at the wall in a trance and shaking like a leaf. Oh I loved that house, so did my mom. The dinning room was about 20 x 15 3 "walls" were ceiling to floor window and a slider, with a swap cooler I had the best indoor greenhouse, lol. Had a wood burning stove that sat between dinning room and living room. The peeps that moved in after us had a can of white gas sitting next to it and caught the house on fire. Landlady rebuilt and made it even more beautiful. Rent was only $850 too. We then moved into a little house that Hated, the bathroom was between both bedrooms. Guest would have to go thru either one of the bedrooms to get to it and I HATED that. I left my husband not too long after we moved in there.

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

OK The House was appraise at 185, call my insurance and it if burn down they cover 226,000 of it
I will get and have it inspected
They have told me to go to the tax person with all my paper to lower the taxes
Police called the Chief and told me that its nice around as he brought up his kids but he said use common scents leave outside lite on lock all the doors but it does have a security system in the house also
I just offer 139,000. but I will go up to 148,000 so until they come back I just have to sit and wait

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL Donna, you want to hear what the medium told the landlady? That story?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trisha, thanks.. I clicked on Wiki's link and it didn't show a pic of the hat.. Seems Tam o'Shanter originates from a poem by Robert Burns. Did a few finger walking, and a woodcut shows the character, Tam wearing a Scottish bonnet. So... now I know.. :D
Trisha... don't say we didn't warn you for overdoing it. Heed your body please sistah!

Your pathway is looking good already. There's no way you can get that done in a month BJ.. unless you get help from your 2 sons, Mike and Don. Then who's gonna cut the pavers to fit the sides and the odd places that don't need full size pavers?

Good luck Kim, hope you'll be able to save more. Can I watch your winter from my home?

Bonnie, me too got something bad for just being outside for a few hours. Benadryl konked me out last night, and today I was feeling very lethargic with headaches. Is it a sin if I tell Kel once again to just order take-out :D

Cindy, you should have hollered at the ghosts earlier!!!! Glad you got out!!

Once lived in a house (in Cairo, Egypt) where each time I lay my purse or some shopping bags, they will go missing. My ex thought I was losing my mind cause he will always find them... not at the original places I had said.
Called my late mum, told her about it, and she said apparently there's a 'naughty' spirit playing with me.
So, following her advice, I burnt some Muslim incense (at that time I was a Muslim) and smoked all corners of the house. (She said they love to hide in corners)
Well that didn't work... until one day, I just screamed at the top of my lungs and told the spirit to just leave me alone!!
Since that yell.. no more hiding..

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

LOL, they don't like getting yelled at. They weren't bothering me I loved it, lol. But that old man he was always taking things off the walls and laying them on the floor. Nothing ever got broke.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Believe me, Jaye... If I had to do it myself... it wouldn't have all those wonderful curves... I'd have square corners... and as few cuts as possible... and even then, it probably wouldn't be straight.

This side has the footing on each side, and they're about finished cutting the pavers for the curves on the other end. Manuel just told me that they will be filling between all the cracks with sand and using the compactor on it... see, I wouldn't have thought to do that... probably.
And That, my dear sistahs is why it's better to hire professionals sometimes.

LK... do you see your bird bath leaning up against the house here?

Thumbnail by bjwilson
(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

BJ, I love that corner there. What a beautiful flower garden you will have there.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Love it BJ!! Manuel and company sure are pros!! Looking grand! Would love a walkway like that hugging this house and encircling some garden plots..

Cindy, tell us what the medium said.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I brought this over from the ghost thread:

Yea there were some oldies, ya know ancestors. And that woman told them when they were born, what kind of a life they had, and when they died. The medium told the landlady that one of her daughters was in some sort of trouble, and that she needed help asap. Come to find out she was into drugs really bad and close to dying. They did not know that at all. When they went to my house and opened the basement door ( I still don't know why they went thru that door and not the main entrance) the medium stopped and when she said she could do it, the landlord was thinking to himself "Great not she's going to charge me more", the medium turned to him and said "No I'm not, there are 3 ghosts here and I can't do this by myself" Right then and there the landlord reliazed that this woman was for real she had just read his mind.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

A walkway hugging the house... now, I hadn't thought about it like that. It has extended my planting area, though... on both ends of the house... so, now I have to think about what all I will plant in there. hmmmm... such burdens to have.

I had not planned on this project, girls. My neighbor had these pavers on his company's yard, and wanted them out of his way... offered me a price I couldn't refuse, and we didn't want them piled up here for months or years. The neighbor felt sorry for me if I laid this walk myself, and offered me another good deal for his crew to lay it... since they're out here a lot right now to do work at his lake house across the street. So, this project jumped ahead of all the projects I had planned for this year... and now, my budget is blown... No more projects this spring... and maybe summer.
Except... now, I want to repaint the house... LOL... it's just too yellow now with the red brick walk. I want to go whiter... maybe a creamy white.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Now Rick is tearing up this yard. This is actually considered the front yard as out front door is on this side. He cut down a Mulberry tree, took out the stump. Perfect fish pond hole, LOL. Now he rototilling it. I don't know what to do with this. It's mostly shady, except for the very front gets sun from 11am and on. Ideas??????

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Wonderful BJ!!!! looks super and yes I see the bird bath against the house I noticed that before reading LOL

Kim keeping my fingers crossed and prayers for you if that is the house you really want..if it is meant to be it will happen for ya :)

We've talked of puttin in a pathway to the front door but after the exchange today about the trellis arch I just got to replace the one I took away in the driveway and the wedding I am done doing stuff. I understand the stress of planning a wedding have helped with plenty int eh past but to call and threaten me wtih just having it someplace else because I bought a trellis...I could really care less if she has it here or else where and I am not going to listen to her be rude to me over any of it..... then tio be sitting here and listen to DH sit and talk with her on the phone and not defend me in anyway or support me just really really hurt ...if she wants things to go good and no one get upset then she needs to learn to talk to everyone and not be rude sounding when she talks ...she knows she hurt me ..well at least Dh says she did when they talked
And to think he knew of the plans of the tent and such but never bothered to say a word to me either when I came home with the trellis.....grrrr lack of communication really ticks me off to the point of tears ....grrrrrrrrrr
Sorry just needed to vent someplace with someone who would understand and not try to straddle the fence

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Phyllis sorry to hear DD is giving you problems. I planned both of mine and my daughter's wedding without anyone bugging me and everything turned out great. LOL, except that I forgot my veil and my mom had to go back to her house which was a 20 minute drive from church. Needless to say I was late, but that's how it's suppose to be.

About that birdbath, is that from the link I posted last summer? I still haven't made one as I don't have a EE leaf yet.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cindy... you need a hydrangea there in that corner...

Vent away, Phyllis... kids can be rude sometimes... I go through the same things with mine.
