You know I haven't been able to earn a star .lol
I'm sorry buy the book is men's eyes only..LOL
Boy the wind is ripping here..Can't go out ,might blow away.LOL
May have to spiff things up here DW working today..
Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #88
I am working on a baby quilt for a friend, done in pinks, and yellows, with a cute frog fabric on the back. All in flannel. The garden will have to wait till this week-end, so hubby can help. My muscles aren't that strong.
Reason Judy I posted the jacket is because it's only 4 straight pieces.. can't go wrong...now how did you manage for be short on the material..think Judy you are fretting far too much..you know the project will be cherished when you send it to her...so relax...enjoy what you are doing...
Are you still working on the above ground garden LindaKay? Saw something similar in a new gardening magazine I got a few days ago..it was so pretty..the subscription to this garden magazine was purchased via Kyle's class room fundraiser..got a letter last night that the magazine is no longer..odd just got one? anyway gave them a call, not many with regards to gardening..got Better Homes and Garden and she said because of the changes I would get a 2 yr. membership..rather have the other magazine though..
Quilt sounds pretty...best we get all the inside things done, soon time to spend all day outdoors.
Great jacket, Betty, thanks....might be a new project. Did you have a pattern or did you just invent a pattern?
Might be good if I finish up all that I have started before starting on something new...
A friend used to make them Shar...had a group of seniors at Baxter Hall, thought because it was done in just 4 pieces it was something they could accomplish in an afternoon, which they did...
Will look for the cut-out template if you want..know you've too many projects to mention that you are working on..lol...don't need another right at this moment, but it's good to have a 'future list' just incase you run out..
what have you been doing today to keep yourself occupied.
I am still working on the garden, it just take more muscles than I have, so I have to wait for the week-end, when hubby is home to help. I don't mind waiting, by the time we get it done, it will be planting time.
LK
Wonderful..bet it will be amazing come summer...do you have plants to transplant or is a trip to the nursery in order..
Wondered by I felt down today, no reason for it, or was there...
Today was my dad's birthday..Sharon is always on msn to gab with me but not today..she takes his death very hard...just e-mailed her...
LOL Terry!
Crissy you better?
Betty, I have been painting, ceilings and walls....huge rooms so lots of paint and lots of trips up and down the ladders. Don't remember if I told you but the great room is about 40'x20' with 11 or 12 ft. ceilings, so that's all done, also the hall, now I am working on the living room, and nearly have it done. My studio is huge and with 13' ceilings. I am not looking forward to doing it, but thankfully two of its walls are western cedar, so that only leaves the other two and the ceiling. I am using a rich cream, and a dark red on a couple of short walls. Might have already told you that.
It has not been good to get outside yet, so have busied myself inside, and that's taken up almost all of 2 weeks. It is about 70 degrees today, and I have taken a break or two outside to check to see what might be growing. Still muddy, though, so maybe by the time I get finished inside, I will be able to go outside.
I would love to have a sort of template for the jacket. That would be fun to make and to wear.
Oh Betty-when I was 17 I went to DC-we saw EVERYTHING!!! The best and most thought provoking thing we saw was the Holocaust Museum-so please make sure you take the boys to that-was not impressed with the White house to be honest with you...the monuments were OK, the Smithsonian's were cool as was the mint, the FBI building and the Arlington Cemetery were both pretty cool-the memorials were all right, but the Vietnam Memorial Wall was astounding!!! Oh-and the Nat'l Cathedral where Helen Keller is buried-that was so beautiful-better than all the works in the museums!!
{{Betty}} I know just how you feel. my daddy passed on fathers day 18 yrs ago :o( his birthday is in July, so usually the whole month of july is hard for me, but especially fathers day :o( ~ sending warm thought and big hugs your way!
My Mother passed 3 years ago, the day after Mothers day! Amazing how we all have so much in common!
It's a good thing we all have each other here.
LK
Paul Harvey RIDDLE:
When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to
17% of Stanford University seniors.
What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The
rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?
LK, my sis's (peafowlanjl) father in law passed on mothers day a few years ago :o( same sis was born on fathersday, and when dad passed it fell on her 30th birthday too! (shes the oldest) so I really feel for her! She said that now fathers day, mothers day and her birthday are all sad now :o( I keep trying to tell her to just use those days to remember all the good times with them instead! much easier said than done tho....
I have my wood all ready to go, got the screws and will use a quart sized mason jar (instead of gallon! lol!) but.......gotta wait for hubby to come home and unlock garage :o( we had some breakins on his work truck a while back, so he decided to lock up the garage where all his wonderful tools are! key is on HIS key ring! ugh!!! tried to get him to come home at lunch, but he's working too far away today :o( so instead I've been puttering around the house waiting....
I know how hard it was on my Mom We lost my dad in 1981
He was in poor health for ever.Didn't make it any easier.
I tell you this so you don't think I'm insensitive When I send this.LOL
LET HIM DIG!
An old man and woman were married for many years, even
though they hated each other. When they had
a confrontation, screaming and yelling could be heard deep
into the night.
The old man would shout, 'When I die, I will dig my way
up and out of the grave and come back and haunt you for the
rest of your life!'
Neighbors feared him. They believed he practiced black
magic, because of the many strange occurrences that took
place in their neighborhood. The old man liked the fact
that he was feared. To everyone's relief, he died of a
heart attack when he was 98.
His wife had a closed casket at the wake. After the burial,
she went straight to the local bar and began to party, as if
there was no tomorrow. Her neighbors, concerned for her
safety, asked, 'Aren't you afraid that he may indeed be able
to dig his way up and out of the grave and come back to
haunt you for the rest of your life?'
The wife put down her drink and said, 'Let him dig. I
had him buried upside down.'
Women - they think of everything!!!!
OK-I give up on the riddle-what's the answer??
The answer is NOTHING
My DD just emailed me that she figured it out after about 2 hrs.LOL
LOL-I didn't have that long-after about 10 mins I gave up....
I listen to Paul Harvey.every day driving to or from work..So many interesting stories.
One short story
A man is working on his roof (repairing shingles)
for security he throw rope over roof & ties it to bumper of car.
Mean while DW gets in car & drives off..
Paul's version was for more explanatory & funnier to hear the way he told it
okay...you all ready?
here is my (scaled own) version of the squirrel feeder :o)
DH came home and let me in the garage.....I was allowed to put in a few screws....he did allthe cuts! LOL! so glad too, cause I would have used the scroll saw for the circles...but he has some fancy thing on his drill press to do those...who'd have thunk?! lol!
I would suggest that if you use the gallon size jar...dont cut the fence board down. The board I used was a redwood dogeared and was 7" x 6' little under an inch thick. I think I will use an old sun tea jar for the next one, and keep the board at 7" wide for more support. didnt realize until after we cut it at 5 1/2 " that the mouth of the sun tea jar is wider! lol! so went back to plan A with a 1 qt mason jar.
Anjl, that is very nice, and quick work too!!!
Now all you need are the squirrels!
LK
we have PLENTY of squirrels! lol! thats why I am thinking of making the bigger feeder, wont need to fill it as often! lol!
Hey, got my internet going again! Woo Hoo just in time to have to shut it down for some severe thunderstorms! Actually, I think they're going to split, one is going south of me and one is going north of me, I'm praying that happens!
Something is making me dizzy, but my hair changes color when it hits air anyway. I am feeling a lot better, just have this hacky dry cough. What's really weird is when I breathe in I can feel the congestion moving on the inside and I can feel it when I put my hand up to my chest, but I can't cough it up, it's driving me nuts!
Oh well, it's bedtime so I'll see everyone in the morning!
Have a great night!
Hello To All;
Stacey - We didn't get to see all that you got to....perhaps b'c kids in tow. But we did love the memorials. Vietnam was striking particularly b'c when we went, I planned the trip for Memorial Day weekend so I would have the extra day off from work.... I was too dumb when planning the trip to realize the significance of picking that weekend....it was HUGE with the motorcycles / Vietnam Vets. LOTS of flowers, teddy bears, memorial items graced the Vietnam Memorial...we were all teary eyed. At the Lincoln memorial...I teared up again while reading the Gettysburg Address...the kids did as well. All of the memorials had something to offer...for us.
Wish we had visited the Holocaust Museum...I don't even remember seeing it on the list of things. The Natural History Museum was a hit with the kids. I recall that the cafeterias in the museums were expensive and food not that great...but choices are limited in that area.
Betty - when we went in 2006, we were told we had to give 6 months notice to have the congressman tour. And the Congressman's office is in the same office building as mine...so I tried to pull strings but couldn't .....was told that it had changed due to 9/11/2001. Maybe it has changed back since then, but you may want to check on that. And if you want me to - I can try to ask my congressman....I think the office is still in my office building. Another thing....the kids were 14,13,12 at the time and wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe. So we did....but didn't realize until we got there that the Theatre where Lincoln was shot was across the street. That was interesting...
Terry - Some of your jokes are a bit raunchy for me...or I just don't get them :) ....but you got 'extra points' for that riddle.....I REALLY liked that ....will have to forward that one... :)
More later....Hugs to All,
Mary
Oops - Liz "et al"....I almost forgot your American Idol Update:
2 of my 3 made it in the Top 12: Allison the 16 year old redhead, and Adam. When you (finally) get a chance to watch....tell me if you don't see a bit of Elvis in Adam...... :)
A guy made it into the third place....cute but not the best singer...
Megan was my third choice, she is blonde but different in her singing style....but I foresee that she will make it "into" the "wild card" round where the judges pick from those not chosen to make it into the bottom "3".
So she may still make it yet.
Next week is the "last 12" where the viewers will pick the Top Guy, Top Girl, and #3 Top Votes. Interesting how they are doing it this year.
4004 I apologizes For the bad ones..If I think that they are bad I will put several %%%%%%%%%%%%%%up first..If that works..LMK..Last thing I want is to offend any one..

Just got in everyone..it's hard staying awake till after 11..kittie got out as I opened the door, now I'll be up half the night I'm sure..
Shar will send the pattern to you..you best stay off those ladders OMG that's a high ceiling..aren't you terrified, I get on a 2 step ladder and I'm beading with perspiration..that's a big undertaking for a little lady..lol..
When do you figure all will be done..I mentioned to Darlene yesterday that I'd like to get something to do the craft room floor, no sense putting rug or linoleum till we finish having a studio..dropping paint etc would ruin it and I think it would be a big undertaking and I wouldn't have to climb...
AnnMarie doesn't take you long to get something done..must read when I'm wide awake to find out what difficulties you found...
Want to gab with you all, but I'm falling asleep..thank you for your thoughts re my dad's birthday today...you all have had losses and it's never easy nor is it forgotten...
Will re-read your posts tomorrow and chit chat
Best of today..being with painting friends again..
Worse of the day...not knowing what I'm going to do with this little table..moved it around in the living room and absolutely doesn't fit..
What did I learn today...one of the male workers in the city doesn't talk to me very nicely..did learn I can hold my own...
Night/night
LOL..now that's my style of a fitness program..
Hello To All;
Hey Terry / Tubby - Don't alter your posts just for me. I am very new to this blog and just happy when folks include me. If the "regulars" are fine with your posts...I am as well. I am not a judgemental person at all.
You are very funny - probably like my Grandpa Garrison.... :) He was an orange tree farmer in Florida...and very much a "People Person". You and your DW seem like fun people..... Continue your jokes....I can pass over the ones that are "raunchy" on my own. :)
GOOD ALLS WELL THAT ENDS WELL
The %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%will be there just in can
Another safe one
Dear friends,
It's important for us men to remember that, as women grow older, it
becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as
when they were younger. When you begin to notice this, try not to yell
at them.
Some are oversensitive, and there's nothing worse than an oversensitive
woman.
Let me tell you how I handled the situation with my wife, Amy.
When I retired a few years ago, it became necessary for Amy to get a
full-time job along with her part-time job, both for extra income and
for the health benefits that we needed. Shortly after she started
working, I noticed she was beginning to show her age.
I usually get home from the golf club about the same time she gets home from work.
Although she knows how hungry I am, she almost always says she has to
rest for half an hour or so before she starts dinner.
I don't yell at her. Instead, I tell her to take her time and just wake
me when she gets dinner on the table.
I generally have lunch in the Men's Grill at the club, so eating out is
not a practicable alternative.
Besides, I'm ready for some home-cooked grub when I hit that door.
She used to do the dishes as soon as we finished eating. But now it's
not unusual for the dishes to sit on the table for several hours after dinner.
I do what I can, by diplomatically reminding her several times each
evening that "they won't clean themselves." I know she really
appreciates this, as it does seem to motivate her to get them done
before she goes to bed.
Another symptom of aging, I think, is complaining. For example, she'll
say that it's difficult for her to find time to pay the monthly bills
during her lunch hour.
But, boys... we take 'em for better or worse, so I just smile and offer
encouragement.
I tell her to stretch it out over two or even three days. That way she
won't have to rush so much.
I also remind her that missing lunch completely now and then wouldn't
hurt her (if you know what I mean).
I like to think tact is one of my stronger points.
And when doing simple jobs, she seems to think she needs more rest periods.
For instance, she had to take a break when she was only half-finished
mowing the yard.
I try not to make a scene. I'm a fair man. I tell her to fix herself a
nice, big, cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and just sit for awhile.
And, as long as she is making one for herself, she may as well make one
for me.
I know, I know..... I probably look like a saint by the way I support Amy.
I'm not saying that showing this much consideration is easy. Many men
will find it difficult. Some will find it impossible. Nobody knows
better than I do how frustrating women get as they get older.
However guys, even if you just start using a little more tact and a
little less criticism of your aging wife due to this article, I'll
consider that by writing it, it was well worthwhile. After all, we are
put on this earth to help each other. Good luck.
Signed, Mel
EDITOR'S NOTE:
Mel died suddenly on March 15 of a perforated rectum.
The police report says he was found with a Calloway extra-long 50-inch
Big Bertha Driver II golf club jammed up his rear end, with barely 5
inches of grip left showing, and a sledgehammer laying nearby.
His wife Amy was arrested and charged with murder.
The all-woman jury took only 15 minutes to find her Not Guilty.
They accepted her defense that Mel, somehow, without looking,
accidentally sat down on his golf club.
good morning,
have to have my coffee and a nevermind will just get yelled at lol
will be back in a bit.
tubby here are the tin men,
on the plain ones he is at 4, then one of each on the theme's
he is now working on yet another fireman and swears thats it he is retiring from tin men lol
and on the indian here it is before the post office beat him and ruined his leg.
Going to bed with a laugh and waking up to one...can you imagine..am sure there are still men out there who think it's the norm...lol..now what does your DW think of that one?
Mary, the 5 girls in painting class all watch American Idol and then Gray's Anotomy so here and there class would stop so they could view the shows and comment...lots of ohhhh's and ahhhh's going on when they were announcing the individual who would remain...
Went to pay for my wood piece and my class and was told my class which is $75.00 was paid for..said nope I didn't pay for it at registration only gave a deposit..nope, you don't owe for your class..told Carol she'd better check her records..paid for 5 new Genesis brushes which shortly will no longer be made and my woodpiece...
As I walked out of the studio, Diane was getting into her car..I thanked her for my meal (she insisted) and she said "Happy Birthday" and I knew right there what had happened..Diane paid for my class as a gift...
Last night we based the insert panel with oils - now they must cure in the oven (don't cook food but can I cook my paintings...) lol .. so in the next week or 2, I must find a nice color for the table and get it stained and varnished..we base coated our panel, mixed all our heat set oil paint colors for the project...set color highlight and shading where needed and homeward bound...
I was up till 1:00, couldn't sleep knowing Missy was outside..she's out all spring/summer/fall but it's cold out there and she has been inside so would be worried..
With getting up at 5:00am this morning, I know I'll be tired and glad we're off at 3:00 pm... maybe I can snooze at the office today...
Here is the table I'm doing with the insert in waiting for me to start painting next week...
Neat Liz... coffee and a - nevermind/nevermind - now let me guess, you are lighting up right...hands on hip Liz....
Tinmen are coming along wonderfully..can understand his wanting to move on to something else..although, each is designed differently so tell him to keep on trucking making more..oh, pun there, is he still trucking? enjoying it?
Here is the photo of the painting I'm doing on that insert..
What is nice about this piece is you can change the insert with seasons etc.
Again, if I can't plant flowers and work in the garden, I'll work at painting flowers...how's that for a gardener...
Had rain not long ago, roads will be slippery, temps cooling so best get at it, leave earlier then I'll not have the stress of rushing...
LOL meant to add...
Paul is bringing in a couch today to set on the wall next to me incase there is a shortage of seating for clients then he's off to the city....hmmmm.... I've a pillow in the office coat closet, now a couch, anything come to mind???
Morning everyone. Betty that was so nice of her to pay for your wood piece. That painting is so pretty!
Tubby that joke was so funny, but sad to say, I still know men like that!
It is Friday, so I hope you all have a great day, and a better week-end.
Betty, don't get caught sleeping too long! LOL
LK

Darn postman.
Betty your quite the artist ..DW has flare for that sort of stuff.
Never has enough time..Seems like..
Cold today chance of 2" to 4" of snow..Oh well it wont be around long..I hope.LOL
While I'm reading that story to DW she says Humff(sp) Like that would ever fly..LOL
Shes pretty spunky..On the tom boy side as a girl.LOL
Linda Kay, no, she paid for supper and my class fee, I paid for the wood piece $125.00 plus tax..looking at it, shucks I can make one of those..problem is you must purchase wood piece from her in order to take class...I'm laughing here, I say I can make one of those, go for it, lol, can't find what to do with this one and now I'm thinking of making more...Christmas is coming right?
1/2 rain 1/2 snow here..took back concession, took my time - no problem..Paul's already been with the couch, doesn't look very comfy to me? Did he have an ulterior motive to bring one in from Toronto office that's not at all comfy?
What to do, what to do to occupy my day..stopped at my daily coffee shop variety store..she was putting new magazines on the rack so I have a 'Get Dramatic Results with Attic Finds Country Almanac..35 glorious garden rooms..in and out....also Pretty up a Porch..add romance to your Bedroom ....hmmmm right, live alone..did try my best with the curtain canope last week...so off I go to look at pretty pictures and try and get ideas
Crissy, sounds as though you miss California...do you? What made you decide to move? Are you and Dave both feeling better..think you are passing it on to each other..that's what we did in the office here...
