Best/Worse/What did I learnt today...visit with friends #88
Hey Liz - Here's your American Idol update....in case you didn't eat your peanut butter and fell asleep. :)
Tonight there were way too many GOOD female singers. Adam was the only male that stood out. With the Females, to me it was the 16 year old, Allison, and the Blonde, Megan, that stood out...however there were at least 3 other girls that did really well.
So that's it... I guess we have 12 more next week....Too bad...I have a Band Booster meeting Tuesday and will miss it. :)
More later,
Hugs, Mary
Morning, did I go zonko, was in bed by 7 and just got up...peeked outside, light snow falling, don't think it will amount to much, just when the front deck had been cleared by sunshine, knew if I waited long enough it would..now back to shovelling..now tell me why I don't mind working in the gardens, hard labour for what 8 to 10 hrs. a day on weekends, 2 to 3 hrs, weeknights and NEVER complain..and yet it's still Mother Nature's beauty and I complain..
Packing a tote bag this morning, my 1st class for that side table begins tonight..meeting Diane in Barrie for something to eat..so will be an 11pm bedtime for me, no wonder I got all my rest in last few nights..what I will do with this wood piece is beyond me..just going to be with my painting friends...expensive deal..we should just meet once a week and do lunch ..lol..sure I'll find a place..if not my home then likely Greg and Mel's...
Forgot to tell you that last night on my way home I stopped at Bernie's for no more than 20 minutes just to check up on him.. he's off to Toronto this morning for final pre-op tests, was at the doctor's yesterday re sugar diabetes..has to drop 20 lbs. and no more coke..now that's a hard thing..he drinks about 12 a day..know someone else who did the same..think I remember telling you about a 5 month stay in the hospital because of coca cola... anyway it will be a struggle...
I saw such a change in him and her that I hadn't seen in awhile..he was laughing, I had given Charlene the cut wood pieces for the cafe birdhouse and so she asked him to paint and decorate, it's now a log cabin, with different compartments within..have to go to his workshop and have a look...
Also, their home was well on the way to looking tidy and clean..they both had lost all interest in it..so that's the biggest positive thing I noticed...as well, Charlene and her daughter work (past 6 months-as Bernie cannot due to health) at a big resort..Golf and Ski hills..the organization has hotels all over..so they are planning 2 weeks at Christmas..$40. per night at an expensive hotel in Mexico..now remember, they don't have 2 cents today, they are now starting to dream, if they get this settlement then all will be well and life will continue so I'm praying this is so...we all need our dreams..how would we survive without them...
Best I get moving, still things to do .. cleaning is not one of them, lordy, when your house is clean and you simply walk in, go to bed, make your bed, go to work how can it possibly get amuck...lol
Going through my closet Shar (and all others lol) knowing you had some jean material I came across one of my rag jackets..only a few seams to make it, comfy to wear and lightweight..it's jean yardage, almost like cotton..
With a bright lining inside and some bead stones on the front it looks lovely wearing with jeans...
Ok, time to leave, that's what I get for going to bed at 7pm..wake up with so much energy that I keep up with myself...not 8am and I've got a rug design book just incase Sharon can't make Saturday, so I'll pick up a 6x8' piece of linoleum at Home Depot and paint myself a new one for under the dining room table...be creative I must..lol...
Out the door I go..
Morning all,
Update on the fire. Three teens have been charged according to the paper. They didn't say what the charge was but I bet their parents aren't happy campers! It ended up that BOTH of the troublemakers were charged even though one of them wasn't there - because he supplied the accelerant that the kids were playing with. We wnt back to the site yesterday afternoon and they had already been back there and bulldozed it. The firemen were there off and all all night (Tuesday) and then the arson investigators were there yesterday getting all their pictures. There was a fourth boy involved but no charges for him yet. It appears he was there but troublemaker #1 said he hadn't done anything except try to put the fire out. Betty you asked if any of the boys are in my DS's class. Two of four are boys my DS has played with (and probably won't anymore!). One I don't know b/c he lives in another neighborhood and the fourth one (troublemaker #1) he has been forbidden to play with from the get go b/c he is a punk.
I'll send more info as I get it!
good morning,
anjl, hope all go's well with you and the tests, omg how funny i just printed out the squirrel cafe directions last week! you have chickens? you must live in county where there not as restrictive, i wanted a couple but by the time we would have gotten a permit and measured out from neighbor to neighbor the coupe would of been in the middle room so we gave up!
several years later dh brought me home a teeny tiny duck who was abandoned we raised him only to find out he was a mallard, (we heard later we could of been fined big dollars if we were caught).
but we didnt know he was a protected species...
he wouldnt leave our side he lived in the house use to beat up the cats he was the best pet i ever had, what a chore he was i had to keep everything double covered had carpets on carpets, he was a lucky duck, miss him terribly.

Jeannine, can't imagine having the police officers knock on my door with news that my child was involved in something like that..only through grace of God did I not..probably a lot we parents don't know of our children's childhood..sometimes when they get together with group of friends and start going back in time...lol...best I close my ears..

Terry-I almost peed myself and spit my coffee all over my screen as I read that-SOOO true!!LOL And only someone who had never had one would write some so moronic on the sticky tab!!
BTW-Betty-is your Bday the 2nd or 11th??
Can't you just picture this..LOL
On the first day of school, the children brought gifts for their teacher. The florist's son brought the teacher a bouquet of flowers.
The candy-store owner's daughter gave the teacher a pretty box of candy.
Then the liquor-store owner's son brought up a big, heavy box. The teacher lifted it up and noticed that it was leaking a little bit..
She touched a drop of the liquid with her finger and tasted it. "Is it wine?" she guessed.
"No," the boy replied. She tasted another drop and asked, "Champagne?.
"No," said the little boy.. "It's a puppy!"
EWWWW!!!LOL
LOL..can just picture it...
Bored here, sitting looking at my Floorcloth pattern book, so many I'd love to paint but just don't match my decor..dining room to small for some of them..girls just left for lunch, Suzanne and I try to go late, makes aft. go by more quickly BUT having dinner with Diane at 5pm so best just have something light to fill me until I meet with Diane...
Been on line for the last hour getting info on Washington D.C. - not bad 10 1/2 hr to drive from home...lots to do, lots to see..
Just e-mailed Jeff and Lisa, big con..said I was going regardless as it's just getting too difficult to get 4 boys together..said it was a great learning experience.. we'll see!
Betty-when is your Bday-2nd or 11th??
Always liked Paul
Paul Harvey Writes:
We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse.
For my grandchildren, I'd like better.
I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice
cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.
I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by
being cheated.
I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.
And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.
It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old
dog put to sleep.
I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.
I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And
it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but
when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope
you let him.
When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag
along, I hope you'll let him/her.
I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live
in a town where you can do it safely.
On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your
driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone
as uncool as your Mom.
If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead
of buying one.
I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.
When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract
in your head.
I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a
boygirl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory
soap tastes like.
May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and
stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.
I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it... And if
a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your
friend.
I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go
fishing with your Uncle.
May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.
I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your
neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hannukah/Christmas
time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.
These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and
happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.
Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for you. And if I die
before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you.
We secure our friends, not by accepting
favors, but by doing them.
Jose and Carlos are panhandlers. They panhandle in different areas of town.
Carlos panhandles just as long as Jose but only collects $2 to $3 dollars every day.
Jose brings home a suitcase FULL of $10 bills, drives a Mercedes, lives in a mortgage free house and has a lot of money to spend.
Carlos says to Jose, "I work just as long and hard as you do. How do you bring home a suitcase full of $10 bills every day?"
Jose says, "Look at your sign, what does it say?"
Carlos' sign reads, "I have no work, a wife and 6 kids to support."
Jose says, "No wonder you only get $2-3 dollars."
Carlos says, "So what does your sign say?"
Jose shows Carlos his sign. It reads, "I only need another $10.00 to move back to Mexico ."

Hello everyone. I keep losing this thread...
Betty what is the next project your going to teach us? What materials do we need to gather?
So glad they caught those boys! Any idea, what the punishment will be?
LK
Oh gosh...Betty, so unlike you not to have something to work on.
...ohoh, I am in big trouble again! this piece iam working on, I mis -calculated and now I have to go shopping yet again.
(don't you love that excuse??) So now i have to quick refigure and decide best way to go.
Think my brain stopped functioning.
Hmmm, I would think there is a tour for non residents??
...Maybe if i made that squirrel feeder, they won't bother my bird feeder?
going to print the direstions...lol, you think that will make Liz think I am working on it/...lolol.
PS Betty, i love the rag jacket. The lining is a real nice touch too.
Linda Kay, might just take a few hours this weekend and go through some of my projects and see what we could do..what kind of things would you be interested in..flying blind here..lol suggestions please?
What things are you working on now?
Tubby, wouldn't mind looking at that book..does she put stars when you are a good boy...lol
Hello To All;
Betty - Did you try www.tripadvisor.com ? If you go Waaay back to June 2006, you can read my review of the Holiday Inn / Washington DC. But if you don't have time to ....I will tell you the highlight of the trip was walking the monuments....Vietnam...Lincoln Memorial...Korean...FDR....Jefferson. We started before dusk and with sun setting in the distance, it was gorgeous albeit...a long long walk for the kids.
More later,
Mary / Baton Rouge, LA
Oh AnjL, I know that freeway wall! I can't stand I-880, big parking lot LOL When me and Dave would drive over to see Uncle Roy in Sunnyvale we would always take 580 to 680, then cut through Fremont to 880, then to 280.
aaagghh hit send before I wanted to, then the phone rang. LOL
