Good Morning! Gorgeous flower pictures... those mini roses are adorable.. my mom winters them over inside (cool).. I just don't seem to get 'into' roses, my mom and my aunt's are... I love the blooms, always thought roses were too finicky...now I'm tropical plants.. Glad it's sunny.. we need that. Cody, love the camellia pic! Debra, I meant to comment on Tropicman, he and his wife are such creative people.. his wife is an artist..she paints and quilts, beautiful... you know, he's also an enabler.. somehow, I ended up with 3 different kinds of palm seed in my order from Parks :) Now, what would make me do that??? Don has greenhouse upon greenhouse of tropicals, (some brugs included).. but he also has tropicals wintering over outside.. some covered with his own 'zone-pushing' creation of plastic trash cans/insulation/Christmas lights... he germinates seeds in clear storage containers... His yard looks like a tropical oasis.. even without the contrast to the yards around him... in KANSAS! I hope I remember to USE my camera next time I visit.... but ya'll know how it is... you get in the "zone" talking and touring, we just kept following him from one greenhouse to another...but his property really isn't that big.. he has a thread on the tropical forum somewhere.. w/pics.. Oh, got a Double Purple Ruffled Rose of Sharon seedling from your seed, Debra... new this week... aw, so cute. (Buddah belly is still fat, no sign of green, yet).. sunny, windy and cool today.. don't work too hard... still anxious about Karen..

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello all! I feel a bit better this morning, no vomiting so far but only because I am doped up on Pherargren suppositories, blechhhhh...But I can't keep the pills down. Now the tell me to come back for a 3rd blood drawing tomorrow morning. My poor hands (the only veins I have) are already blue. The Dr. has instructed me to not take my diabetes meds nor my depression meds (scary because I have taken them daily for 12 years) until they figure out what is wrong with me. Bonnie I am finally doing fine after discontinuing the "crazy" nitetime pill, thank God.

I can't help but be a bit worried after abdominal xrays and 3 sets of blood drawing and urine samples...But I have a terrific Dr. who is extremely thorough. I felt good enough to walk out to my greenhouse this morning and check on my babies. Ya'll might as well get ready for me to brag on my vegetables this summer as well as my Brugs....you won't mind I know. Jeanne, you live close enough to me that I can share some with you! :~)

I love you all, and so appreciate your well wishes. It means so much to me during this awful time. I'll keep you updated.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Karen, I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. I think you will be fine without your depression meds but you need to think happy thoughts. I went thru that and my biggest problem was anxiety. I got off the depression meds with no problem. I do take Xanax not but the lowest dose. The thing that helped me the most was the program I signed up for from othe Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety, Inc. They have a program called Attacking Anxiety and Depression. It is a self help thing and you must work at it but I did it and it worked and I feel so much better and have been really doing well. Keep up those happy thoughts and your flowers will get you through this. 'God Bless.

Today I had the lady from one of our Winerys come visit my place and she purchased some cut eucalyptus and pussy willows plus some small house plants. They had the vinyards blessed one Sunday a few weeks ago and I donated some Eucalyptus and yellow holly for a large centerpiece for that day. Today it paid off. I love when things come together. :)

Is there a bouganvillea specialist on this list? I just can not seem to propagate those buggers. The plants I purchase are great and bloom all the time. But I just can not seem to make babies. WAAAAAA! Help! I am going to see if there is somewhere in Dave's place to give me some advice.

It is very windy here today and my plans are all changed due to the weather, so I am here online not being very productive. I do want to wish you all well and hopefully all of your aches and pains will pass very soon. If you can find something to make you laugh, that would be good medicine for you. If your need help laughing, just email me privately and I will try my best to help you. Hugs, JB

Thank You, Karen.. I'm glad you are finding some relief.. but I know it's still kinda scary till they figure out your ailment. But feeling better is a step in the right direction.. JB.. great advice, my sister reads a lot of self-help books and shares info with me, I have to be in a reading mood. We're still thinking about you Karen.. and I can't wait for the veggie, brug bragging and to see pics. JB, glad to hear you got some "pay-off".. I have no idea on the bougies... they have stickers.. I don't like stickers.. lol They will help you somewhere on DG.. maybe the Tropical Plant forum?? Is there a forum for Bouganvilla? I'm going to try some air-layering later this Spring on a Rubber tree and want to start some more big philos that need repotted. Just HAD to check in and SO glad to see the Karen update..

Thanks Linda K but I had checked that out earlier and they are all from Florida or Georgia and by the sounds of some of the posts, they have mostly Bougs that grow outside in their yards. Unfortunately, mine are houseplants and some of them are patented. I do appreciate your suggestion. I may decide to ask them later, I am just a bit shy of them for now. I got my head chopped when I made a statement on the Brug list one time and I do not want that to happen again. I do not do rejection too well anymore. LOL. Hugs.

Sorry to hear you had problems with a nother thread. Most of the ladies are very pleasant.
Hear are a few more place to try.
From what I have read, it works better, and faster in warmer weather.

Karen, so glad you are feeling at least a bit better today! please keep us updated! You are in my thoughts and prayers ^_^

I too know little about bougies, except they are really hard to kill! LOL! had some growing in the front yard, cut them all the way to the ground, and they jut kept coming back! ugh! finally dug the entire root system out last year and I hope they are now gone! I liked the flowers, but HATED those horrible fang like thorns! these were planted along our walkway to the front door and I'd swear those new growth spurts would reach out and grab me and slice me all up every time I walked by them! lol! at least now I have a whole new bed to plant! teehee!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Nice links, LK.. "from what I've read, it works better, and faster in warmer weather"... :P Why must we wait so much? I know I'm just itchin' to get dirt under my fingernails and a sunburn on my nose.. waiting is why I have so many plants.. I tire of waiting on one and start 3 or 4 other things to keep my interest while I'm waiting for the 1st thing.. that vicious plant circle is what it is.. sure can't be cause I'm an impatient person... JB, I understand your apprehension, but please try again on posting a question, most everyone at DG IS kind and helpful. Great day here, little cool, I'm going out and capture what is left of daylight. It's Pre-Spring!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

I love the flowers pics. Such pretty colors. Keep them coming. I have two mini roses, one red and one pink. They stay in pots year round. Right now they are in the GH.

I have two bougies in pots. I fell in love with them while living in Fl despite the thorns. I even got punctured in the head last summer when moving a monster one. I have never thought about propagating. JB don't worry about folks. I'll go ask the FL GA folks for ya if you want.

Karen, I'm glad you were able to go out to your GH. I know that made you feel better. It's very calming for me to be in my GH with my plants. You do what you gotta do to make yourself better. I pray the dr finds what the cause is like NOW so you can have some answers and the right treatment. As for sharing your veggie bounty, ok. We might have something your not growing to share with you.

Bonnie, can you see the dirt under my fingernails? Can you smell the moist earth? I just had to mess with ya. It is so good to be out and playing in the dirt. My DR. Ruppel clematis has green leaves budding out already.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Look what I have in bloom. It is my cyclamen I have had for about 5 years now. I have other colors in the same pot, but this is the first to bloom.

Beautiful cyclamen Tatters, I have a white one my son just bought me and it isn't looking very well. Leaves turning yellow, think I'm watering it to much?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They don't like too much water. Set it outside and get some sun if you can.
LK

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks Tatters, we are having some sunny days so I'll set it out to bathe in the sun. We are suppose to have a big rain storm, gee I hope they are wrong and the storm changes directions.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Mornin ' all good to see you Karen, hope all the tests come back that you are okay, you know I have been praying for ya'all here.. came home to a sur[rise box of "blue Flags" and a nice brug cutting, thanks, LK..
I have little babies everywhere, a cherry tomatoe plant is now four inches tall with that bushy look going on.. it is in the basement window... I don't do well with Bougs.. all the ones and cuttings I have bought or been given have dried up.. sheesh.. I have another sprout from those brug seeds I got from Brenda, only took about three months for it.. I have four lovely Pear trees about 4 inches tall now from my back yard pear, and all my hibiscus cuttings have taken root..
the purple and red castor beans have sprouted, as well as the lilac lafleur datura.. those will be pretty.. don't do well with house plants so cyclamen and me don't mix too well, but they sure are pretty.. go a steal on some more Aisatic stargazers. 75 bulbs for 20.00 if anyone wants any let me know for postage.. I mite let go a few.. I love the way mine have donw the few I have out in the back from Wally World.. this was my very first bloom from Wally World bulbs three years ago..
have some coffee.. have some tea.. have some cinnamon rolls on me! TTLTR!

Morning everyone. T.G.I.F.!!!
Debra, thanks for the breakfast. Enjoy the brugs.
All my plants are outside also. I do horrible with houseplants. My cyclamen has been outside since I got for a get well gift years ago, when I had my back surgery. Wow, that was in 2000, so I guess it is about 9 years old now. I had moved it around the yard till it too found it's happy spot to grow.
Have a great week-end, and superb Valentines day.

Debra, BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE CASTOR BEANS! They are highly poisonous! Beautiful plants, though! I've always wanted to grow them, but I'm afraid of them! They are the plant that the poison RICIN comes from!

LK, thanks for the message in the valentine. I have received that gift and am thankful for Him.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, how are you doing today? You have that quillow done yet?
LK

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Thanks LK, very cool valentine message. Wow Debra, what a bargain on the Stargazers.. I bought one last fall, hope to get it planted this spring.. :) the smell is glorious.. they are Mel's fav flower, I learned last summer. I'd love a couple more IF you have some to spare.. they will smell up your whole back yard! I've been drooling on the lily pages in my catalogs. Gosh Debra, you have so much started! Congrats, can't wait to visit you this summer and see it all! I have "acquired" 3 black castor bean seeds (plant is supposed to be dark, not the seed:), I think it is a "new" one.. I will direct sow them in May and hope to get seeds to share later this summer.. I will keep you in mind, if ya want some.
I'm tickled HOT pink today! :)))))... I've been helping a friend feed his dad's buffalo herd (I drive the truck, he walks behind dumping food), while his Dad is having knee surgery.. they have a delapidated garage made of bricks out there, weird bricks.. I should post a pic.. anyway, I can have it all just for deconstructing it!!! Greenhouse HBA's!! Greenhouse!! .. I think I can salvage enough wood from the roof and I have some left over wood from my deck to frame up the sides and roof.. I'll need to buy the support posts, but I image bricks about 4 ft high and then the wood framing up a greenhouse panel length to the roof.. Might have to make due with plastic for a while, or piece in some old windows if I can find some, but my dream IS becoming a reality! I'm so blessed!! I was going to construct a temporary greenhouse, but now I get to have a permanent one! I'm on cloud nine! I'm going to get out my graph paper and start engineering.. Might take a year to complete it to my liking, but I WILL make it work...
(did anyone mentioned it is Friday the 13th?... I'm going to buy a lottery ticket..) maybe I will win enough to buy the posts for the greenhouse.. haha.. Hmmmm, Audrey... Audrey.... OH! Audrey! Welcome to the thread, stranger ;) Hope all is good with you. I got my sewing machine out this winter.. I was going to make Christmas stockings, but just never got the sewing mood.. when I was little my mom taught me to sew Barbie clothes and I sewed dresses for my girls when they were little.. Karen, still praying for you, Hon! Hope you're feeling better. Enjoy the day.. sunny and cold here, with chance of (gulp) snow... pre-spring..... sure...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bonnie, sounds like you have a major project on your hands. I bet it will be nice when you get it done!
Good luck on the lottery ticket, I need to pick some up too!

Esther! So sorry you've been ill.. Your home sounds divine all decorated in plants like that! You have some very lovely plants to play with once Spring gets here... when you are ready, we will all be happy to help you.. I'm not sure about everything you have, but some of us's will. So glad you posted... don't worry bout reading everything to catch up.. just jump back in anywhere.. hope to see you a little more and hope you are feeling much much better. I've been lucky on that subject this winter, but I think it is because I don't get out among the "germ spreaders" like I did when I was going to work everyday.

Thanks - will do !

Evening Everybody!!!!!!!!!!! Hope ya all have been havign a good day. I guess I missed the jump. Couldn't get that lat one to load for me it was so long, and then forgot about hunting for when somebody made a new one.

AuntB. Didn't even know they had a castor bean that was all black. I got a few seeds of one kind of them, just have to figure out how and where I would put it. I stil can't believe I gona plant some especially afetr beign a kid every time we got acold it was castor oil in a glass with a bit of ginger ale. grossed me out them and still does. So I hope the plant looks better than the real castor oil.

Linda Kay. That is so cool. Thanks for sharing that. : )

JB... One of the best ways to propagate them is get ya some of them sponge cubes. take yoru cutting and make sure ya have a couple of nodes and four leaves.

leave the top to leaves. The next two down cut the leaves in half across . Put cutitng in cube with a bit of root tone, put in baggy and put in sunny window and wait for sevral months. They are a woody and so they take time to root.

We got strosm comign again tonight adn tommorrow, so I may miss ya all, but wanted to tell ya all

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYBODY!!!!!!

The rain came pouring down, and I took a nap. We are supposed to have an entire week of rain, I don't think I will be sane at the end of that time. I hate bening cooped up in the house all day, need some outside time.

Anyone ever try drying a brug bloosom? My first bloom faded out so I'm giving it a try, looking OK so far.

Awwwwwww....bless your heart. Sounds like you have a great hubby Cody! Stopping by to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day my sweet friends. How blessed I am to have such good friends! It is my wedding anniversary also....10 years and counting. Well, I did kinda find out what my Dr. is worried about and why he keeps checking my blood. Seems I have a condition termed hyponatremia, which means "very low blood sodium". It can cause horrible things like kidney failure if left unchecked. I don't know where the vomiting comes in but am sure it must be connected somehow. This is why Dr. has insisted on continual blood tests (I have to go again Monday), to check the levels. I still am not allowed to drink water, only gatorade, nor take my anti-depressants or diabetes meds. (I guess they increase the problem somehow). Pretty sure if it was gallstones they would have shown on the abdominal xrays or something.

I was feeling pretty peaked this morning, but am a little better tonight, just weak. I love you all and hope you have a wonderful day full of Cupid's love! (watch those bums, he might just get one of you with his arrow! I know mine makes a good, wide target, ROTF)

Coushatta, LA

Thanks Karen,he is.I hope you get well soon.
Happy Valentine's Day to you too.
