MArion do you see where gardn_whisperer is from? ANother one from Florida. AMybe she can even get us some discounts??? LOL
Oh my gosh, we don't need any more excuses to buy fabric.
I do hope you have them all in tubs, to keep them from the moisture and bugs!

Barbar, excuse me for being a dummy but what is a BOM? I see you have mentioned it several times and I am just can't figure it out. I know when you tell me I will say, DUH! but for now, put me out of my misery.

I was doing just fine with several shelves for fabric; keeping them by color & being able to see them all. Then Black and White came into my life and now I have two shelves just for that! Of course, I bought a little bit of this and a yd of that but not enough for stripping, borders and backing so when I am ready to put the quilt together I will have to return to the store for more. Is that supposed to be the way this works?

A quilt show with fabric too; be still my heart!!

Hello gardn-whisperer, good to have another one from Florida in the group. My family is from that part of the state but I live in the northern part almost to the Georgia line. I yield my "title" if I ever have one to gardn-whisperer! She is definitely the"'queen" of the Fabriholics Club!!!

Oh Jaye, isn't it awful how they place those booths in just the perfect places to catch us at quilt shows. BTW, anyone interested in coming to my house March 14 and continuing on to Trenton for a huge Quilt Fest? The more the merrier--hint, hint, Jaye and Kel!!!!!!!
There are to be all kinds of activities and the opening of yet another building in the quilting complex there. All kinds of demo, old machine repairman, craft booths, food booths--from what I was told--you name it they will have it. Oh yes, fabric for sale too!!

Let me know so I can clear out a bedroom.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Oh, Marion, do I wish I lived closer to you! That quilt show sounds wonderful and just at the right time. March is the worst for us up here in Michigan. Not pretty winter but not Spring either. Bad, bad depression time. Lovely fabrics and quilts would make the outside just fade away.

The paper day said JoAnn's was having a sale on batiks (40% off ) and fat quarters for $.99. While I already bought the fabric for the spring floral swap I just might have to drift by and see what trouble I can get into.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well, Janice you are more than welcome to come--stay over the next week and go to the festival with me. I am sure I could find oodles of trouble for us to get into!!!

Ladydragon5 - BOM stands for Block of the Month. Several quilt stores run them as well as on-line shops. It is very similar to a sampler quilt in that each month you make a block in a pattern they give you along with fabric they have chosen. At the end of the year you have twelve blocks to put together however you want . A large quilt, some table runners etc. Below is a picture of my first year doing this. Now I'm on year three. You learn so much about technique, shortcuts etc. I love the experience and seeing how different people put the quilts together.

Janice, tell me about the spring floral swap! Qwilter, what a beautiful quilt! Looks hard, too!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It was easier than it looks. It was more time sonsuming than hard. But I love it.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Beautiful quilt! I like the way the blocks extend out over the borders.

Believe I have my first quilt layed out the way it will be put together. Giving my neck a rest. Been at it since early this morning. The quilt is supposed to have 25 6 1/2" blocks. Wasn't happy with it the first time it was layed out - not enough contrast. Have practically made a second quilt. Have 17 blocks left over. LOL!

The Think Spring quilt block floral swap is closed since they have their 12. The other is this one, which is Glutton for Punishment, and it is a floral block, too.

You can keep track of these by going to the Quilting Forum or looking for new things on the list of swaps that Stacey updates.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Welcome whisperer - I've been in NH for twenty two years and still love it. Twenty in Derry and now two in Hillsboro. Derry was becoming too much of a city for us. Here we only have three traffic lights and everyone is sooooo friendly. Hope you will join us in a swap - it's lots of fun.

Lovely fabric. And I suppose you got a good deal on it where you work? Very nice! Does it come in other colors? Do you work at a fabric chain store, or is it a local shop?
LK

Sarasota, FL

yes, I get a decent discount , but it is so expensive to begin with--$79.99 yd (discounted from 160.00)
that is why lapels and sleeves are a co-ordinate --that was 29.99 yd

here is the monkey side

this tone on tone is the only color this pattern came in
several other crewels that are florals

I took my jacket in to snap it near the bolts I used

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness. That is pricey! But very pretty. Thanks for showing it to us.

thank you taters

had to modify the pattern to get the lapels the way I wanted
original pattern had a lapel that crossed over in an L shape that provided a large pocket
since it would have hid the animals I tailored it off

also there was no lining but I added one since the crewel is wool and would have been too scratchy

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You did an excellent job of adjusting the pattern and sewing it like you wanted. It is very nice.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, we need a new room please...........

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

We have a new member of our club! I took Stacey to one of my favorite quilt stores and she went nuts! She was, Oh, this and Ah, that and "have to have" on lots of things but settled on just about 5 pieces of fabric. She even bought one of those, "I don't know what I'm going to do with it but HAVE to have it" things. she hasn'tmade her first item yet and already she is gone on the fabrics.
GOTCHA!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's music to my ears, Janice!!!!!
My my my.. how our niece has grown!!! Lol!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
