Janice what was wrong with it? Hope it was someting simple?

Ok, I will give you 2 weeks, to get your machines out, cleaned, oiled, and ready to sew something.

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

My machine is out, cleaned, oiled and a brand new needle --yes it is also plugged in!

Ladies, my dear late husband thought for the past 10 years he was alive that our mattress was sitting on boxprings!! NOT! Can you say: fabric? :Let no good usable space go wasted. Still trying to find/make storage areas in this house.

I do have a confession. I slipped today, and didn't have my buddy's telephone number with me to call for help. She most likely would love the new fabric that just happened to jump in the car with me and keep me company on the way back. It was so pitiful just sitting on the shelves and it just kept begging me to take them with me. Now what was I supposed to do? Can't be calling me "heartless" now can you?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Marion, You should always have your phone with you, and turned on. Did you at least get enough to share with us? LOL

What did you get?
Hey, Under the bed works for a lot of us. Just get the tubs all the same size, and you will never know the difference...

LK

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

The problem with my machine was caused by a slight piece of metal loose on the bobbin casing. The thread was catching on it sometimes and fraying it and it would eventually break and snap back as far as the top of the machine. He fixed it overnight and now I am going strong. Now why didn't he find that the first two times it was in ? This time I took in a piece of the frayed thread to show him what it looked like...you got to lead these men by the nose!
Well, you see I finished the T-shirt quilt last night and need a pillow form for a project so MUST go to JoAnn's where they just happen to have a sale on fat quarters and quilting fabric. Their in the same section, too. Now how can I resist when it is a S A L E ! So.....
looking at projects I have to finish and I will try and keep it down to a minimum.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Janice, so glad to hear your machjine is working for you. You have to be so happy now!
Take it easy at the sales today! ^_^

LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

LOL!! Fat quarters are never enough for me! I'm like some one else said, at least two yards!

Glenview, IL

LOL, thats too funny. I always get an extra half a yard. You just never know when you can use it.

OH Jaye...I got some Ecru material!!! lol 3 yards. lol can't be running out of that.
and lookie, I even spelled it right, finally.

A real bummer was they were out of the batting for potholders. (of course)

Well got to run...have a happy sewing day.

OH Janice, I am so glad they found out what was wrong with your machine! Did they have replace the whole bobbin piece?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Linda Kay, I did have my phone with me and turned on but no numbers yet. My other phone died (I mean really died--couldn't even charge to get numbers over to new one) and I haven't had time to sit and program all the number into the new one. Only thing that has been done to it is Kim installed pictures of a certain captain on the screen. LOL She also change the ring tone to music--you can use your imagination as to what.

Janice, isn't it ridiculous how something so small can cause so much trouble. Smart move taking the frayed thread with you to the repair man. So happy you are back into the sewing business. Hopefully I will be able to do a little later this afternoon.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Back form JoAnn's without too much damage. Got 7 fat quarters, 6 yds of fabric, two pillow forms, thread and got out for less thata $40. Of course I had two coupons; one 40% one 50% off for the few things I bought that were not on sale.
I even bought some color pencils so I can draw my blocks before I cut to see how I like the color combinations. Neat trick if it works.
Must get sewing...got lots to do.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ahem ....... ladies, I'm only providing this link to show an example of what a fabraholic might do.

http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/Item--i-M-LBM

A 'friend' of mine heard about these new scrap bags through the company's e-newsletter and pre-ordered two bags! She didn't even know what she was going to do with them - just thought it was a great idea and wanted to be one of the first to try them out.

Well, I was so ... I mean, SHE was so excited when they were delivered! A huge stack of color coordinated strips! They are so pretty! (or so she says anyway) I pity the poor soul. Just can't help herself.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

It looks like the Fabricholics need to contact you--errr your friend and give her some help. We would not want "Her" suffering with all those wonderful strips and not knowing what to do with them--now would we? Poor girl, I do feel so sorry for her. Maybe she will join our group and we can bring her back to the straight and narrow. Think?

Coast range of, OR(Zone 8b)

Holey Moley, Batman! All that for only $10! AAARRRRGGGGG!!!! I want some!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh looks like we might have a new member in a group. LOL I agree got2Bgreen, they are very interesting looking and I am not sure I can resist much longer. I need my buddy's help now. Stop me, please, stop me. Wait never mind 1 or 2 packages won't hurt will they?

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

I did not realize how much help I needed! I was going through my stash last night, adding the new just washed things to the old piles and organizing them by color when I realized that just two months ago I had 5 small pieces of fabric and I now have two cabinet shelves full! Where did they come from? I just bought a piece here and a piece there and all of a sudden I have tons!
I definitely have to put a moritorium on buying any more and just get busy using what I've got. Help Me, Please!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think we all started with just a few pieces, and then all of a sudden, you are filling closets, or tubs, and then you say, Oh my, what am I to do with all this fabric? I know you will think of something for sure.

LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My addiction stems from my childhood. When we occasionally got a piece of fabric, we'd save the scraps for quilts! Now I can't throw away scraps! I try to fold them neatly so I can see what I have. However, when I decide to sew, do I go to the scraps? Noooo! Don't even think of them!
All you girls are really helping me with these sites to buy scraps and squares! Love it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I've become a deranged fan of these cloth 'celebrities' like Mark Lipinski, Kaffe Fasset, Barb Tourtillotte and Mary Engelbreit . Tell me please to avoid the houses of Kona Bay and Moda!

Laurel Burch, bless her soul, can't blame her no more, but she left a legacy of beautiful fabrics.. waaaaaaaaah!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

While we are at it let's not forget Lorilei designs (not sure of spelling). Just got an email form a shop today that has some wonderful mermaid fabric and I am fighting temptation. Help me I'm falling...............

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I love Loralie Harris too.. I'm not a red head.. think I'll dye my hair for the Redhead panel that's on sale..
Go on Maid M.. keep me company :D

Oh trust me I have been keeping you company. Last night Kim needed some beading things so we stopped by Joanne's. Need I say more? Where is our support group when we need them? Probably off buying fabric.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Marion, what kind of beading does Kim do?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

She has gotten back to making jewelry. She took classes a long time ago but dropped doing it with her dad being sick and the work schedule at school. During the holidays, she started playing with the nieces repairing their broken "jewelry" and then started back to working with her's. I am so thrilled she is doing it as I can really see a change--she is more relaxed. Not me!! That is to tedious for me.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I enjoy it too, but man my hands get to hurting big time. I'm working on the peacock for Stacey and those are the plastice beads the size of pony beads and that's even difficult. But I enjoy it so I just take lots of breaks and dip my hands a lot. :( ^_^

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Same here.. not eager to engage in beading. Don't have the patience..
Weeeelllllll............. errrr... just remembered I have to look for some turtle fabrics for a dear, dear sistah.. If anything else should be added to the 'basket', guess it's okay huh? Got to reward myself for being kind to a sistah :D

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my Jaye why don't you just pop into www.bugfabric.com and check out what they have? Not that I am being an enabler? Nope would never do that!!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, will be googling Loralie Harris. ;)

I bought a necklace to wear with my MOB dress from the same shop where I got the dress. I knew the necklace was made by a local person but was shocked to find out it was made by a 15 year old girl!!!! I won't even tell you what I paid for it - would never have paid that much otherwise but thought it was for a very special occasion and went PERFECTLY with the dress. They are to have her make me a pair of earrings to match.

Marion, your daughter may be able to pick up some extra $$$ if she can sell to local boutiques.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

OH yes those beaded danglie earrings are coming back along with all that chunky stuff and big hoops

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Right now she is just getting herself back on track. She did make a necklace for my best friend in Gainesville and when I download I will post. I almost didn't want to give it to her--lapis and oh did I covet that one!!! She might need to sell a few things for pocket money when she goes to Costa Rica--everything else is paid. Thank goodness!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

BTW Debra look at Loralee's mermaids!!! Thinking about getting some to make quillows for the GD's and I found a doll quillow pattern on the net. Yeap, baby dollies needs them too.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

What are quillows?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

It is basically a quilt that folds up into a pocket on one side and forms a pillow.

Debra, check this out:

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, where did you find the doll patter for a quillow? I found myself looking at the fabric links, and I don't even need the turtle print! But there were lots of pretties there! ^_^

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BugFabric has the biggest collection of cutesy animal prints. :( Temptation again... Maid M.. I'm trying very very hard to forget about ole Robert Kaufman.. looks like I'll be saying hello to him again :D

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Marion, if I didn't know better I'd say you are pure EVIL! Why are you sending me links on the Fabriholics thread? (you're supposed to be a little more subtle and email them to me) LOL!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!!!!! Wonder where Marion hid her horns!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I so sorry! Since this is a fabriholics thread I thought I would help with your addicition. Or does it work the other way--not send you any sites?

Linda Kay go to http://thesilverpenny.com/quillow.html

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for that site Marion... another must do project for someone's little girl. :D

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Isn't that a neat site. I know have a sleeping bag pattern and a qwillow pattern to make for the girls. They go camping alots--love it, too--so their babies must have the proper items to take with them. Keep Grandma out of trouble--I wish!!!! LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, did you see the little fairy house you can sew? So cute!
