Hi everybody, I seem to have found my home here at daves. My name is katie and I'm a fabriholic. My time seems to get eaten up working on gradually building a house and garden. It goes slowly partly because every time I want to brownbag a wall or something, I have to move a ton of fabric, much of which I have forgotten so I have to admire it again as I move it. What are we to do?
I do have a sewing machine out and ready to plugged in after I clean and oil it. Soon, soon - right?
God, grant us the serenity....

Now that you have your machine out, cleaned and oiled. Plug it in, get out some fabric, cut into the squares of your choice, and show us what you can do? We would pictures, don't we ladies.
OK, all of you have an assignment. Show us what you have worked on in the past. Someting you have sewn.

Very nice Linda Kay. Nope not out shopping in this rainy mess--staying inside and hopefully going to my sewing machine.
WOW that is pretty. Thanks for making a post I got my quaters yesterday for my buddy need to get them pressed and in the mail. Hope I did ok, as I'm new to this kinda thing.
Cindy, I am sure you did just fine--don't worry.
I have mine ready to mail, I just need to get them to the post office.

I think I spent an hour putting the colors together. Tried to find that flower seed print that Janice made BJ's pillow out of, nope. I guess not all JoAnn's carry the same fabrics :(
Funny Cindy, I did the same thing and I didn't have any luck either. Just an hour putting them together? You are just a beginner then. LOL
Jumping up and down, big quilt sale at the "Quilt Shop" store...imagine, one of the ones I'll be picking up this aft. is queen size, machine quilted, Christmas quilt, white with green bordered holly and berries..think it comes with 2 shams..under $50.00 (end of season) then a choice of over 20 quilts/shams for under $75.00 a steal to me, think I'll forgo shopping for material and just purchase pre-made quilts..didn't realize they had a store in Barrie..I'll be watching for sales for sure...
Show you my purchases tonight....lol
SHHH just going to put them on display, have a wooden quilt wall hanger I bought in Texas years ago...who will know I didn't do them..lol...promise I'll tell the truth if they ask....
Wow, Betty, you really hit the jackpot! That is a fabulous price for quilts, especially if they are nicely done. While I love to do blocks I sometimes hate to do the finished quilt so I look for things like that. Wish the weather wasn't so bad; I'd come on over and shop.
How are you feeling...? You didn't take much time off with that chest cold. Did you ever get to see a doctor? I really think you needed an antibiotic to kill those germs.
They talk here in the states about better health care but it doesn't sound like we want whatever you have. Clinics backed up, hospital ER's full and doctors you can't see.
Janice, took 1 day off, last Friday, spent 2 weekends in bed and got home around 5:30 each night and shortly thereafter was in bed...still coughing, almost like a whopping cough but no fever and headache so can make do with that..2 more days and weekend will be upon us and I'll rest..but it's so nice to feel alive...lol...and yes, other than when these influenza's and intestine flu's aren't rampid our system is great..but don't ask me what I think of it right now
Yes, wouldn't it be nice for you to come visit and we could shop/craft but hey, you got to save those pennies if you are thinking Texas in May...
Wouldn't you know, my camera had a dead battery yesterday, but that's ok heading back there today so with luck I'll be able to post some tonight...did take a couple of photo's of yesterdays buys..
Wasn't all that thrilled with the one I bought for my bed, not much choices with 'red' in them..but the kitties will like it and I'll be happy that they no longer are clawing my white bedspread... quilt came with 2 shams all for $39.99...bought Suzanne her Christmas quilt and she took it home, no photo but that's what I'm purchasing again today so will have one later...did buy a large laptop Christmas quilt..keeping it in the bag as it's a Christmas gift..laptop was $14.98...of course there was a plain white cut out table cloth, a must have as well..lol...$9.98
Betty, you got some wonderful buys for sure. Wish they would have sales like that here. Oh my God, did I just say that. If they had sales like that, I would be in the poor house for sure! LOL
Linda Kay
Make that 2 of us but we would be in good company.
^_^
Me, three! the quilts alone; I would have to have one for each season.
Can you imagine the damage we could do if all of us got together on a fabric/sale shopping spree? LOL Might make some shop owner really happy.
Now Marion, we are just helping the economy aren't we? Isn't that what we are supposed to do in these tough financial times? I feel we are just being patriotic by buying all the fabric and notions we can.
(doesn't that at least sound good?)
Hey, I love your answer and totally agree. Onward and upward!!!!
Keep going over in my mind when I was travelling to Texas the last time..not sure what route I took but again, biggest material shop I ever saw...the entire town was quilt based...the store itself was a block long and 2 stories high...omg if I found it again I'd never leave...
Put the thinking cap on please. I might just have to take a detour on the way back home from Texas. LOL
Bet it was somewhere within 100 miles of Branson Missouri...
....so I take the long way back to Florida!! All for the sake of a quilt shop. LOL
Not just any quilt shop Marion, one with "million and 1 callico prints..." couldn't help but laugh when Barb and I saw the billboard, we were NOT on a mjor highway and in the field where you could hardly see..so the laughter at such a place here in the wilderness we couldn't imagine...that is until we pulled into the quaintest town...know it would still be there because the entire town is based on the machine quilting shops and fabric shops...
Sounding better and better.
I lived in Missouri but never heard of that one. I will have to sick my spies on it. Wow, we could stop on the way back from Texas and load up!! Gotta find it, Betty.
No dust on my material..so laughing..came home with material to do my girlfriend Darlene a ragquilt..bright colors in flannel..while eating with grandson Noah, washed my material and by the time midnight came I had it more than 1/2 cut...so, if the snow and cold remains the hightlight of my weekend, I'll be in my jammies, enjoying the fireplace and sewing..what more could a girl want....
Betty, love the colors of your next rag quilt. I know that Darlene will be very happy with it.
Also love the Christmas quilts you got on sale. You will be ready for next year.
LK
Linda Kay what excites me is that they are queen size + 2 shams and only $49.99 canadian that's what lol about $40.00 USA funds....
