We kept power over night so I guess they got it fixed right. Peanut butter and pickles on my sandwich, please. I prefer the bread and butter pickles but will settle for sweet pickles.
I slept well and hard last night. I did not have to get up even one time during the night. I would rejoice in that if not for the fact that it means I also did not get up and put wood in the stove. Brrrrrr I could see my breath in here when I got up this morning.
She's About To.............#38 - Brug Addicts Chat
Audrey.. Sorry, I should have looked in my journal... Your b-day isn't here yet.. but the wishes are still as heartfelt.. DEBRA!!! OMG! It's fake, right?????????? GULP
Oh, Kathy, I hope you have it all toasty by now.. I've burned wood and still will IF it comes to that.. I don't have much wood left ... I just can't manage the wood like I did when I was younger.. glad you got a good nights sleep, I did too.
Debra, what kind of snake is it? Beside a dead one!!! Oh my, I would have had to change my pants if I found that on my floor! Please be careful.
Linda
I know that the day will come when I can no longer handle the wood. I have watched the progression with so many others. First the kids take away the car keys and a couple of years after that they pull out the wood stove and make you put in something safe. And then you never feel warm again. Nothing feels as warm as a wood fire. Oh well that should be years away from me yet. I am not going to think about such terribe things.
And nothing smells as good as a wood fire! Someone close to my neighborhood burns wood, I smell it sometimes, and I lift my head and breathe deep!
Bonnie, yes its fake lol.. found it in my DS room ( been cleaning it out ) since hemoved out over 6 months ago, it scared the pagooies out of me tho, laying on the floor behind some boxes..
Audrey okay then.. well u better have a Great Birthday on Friday! ( cuz I said so)
Kathy, I Love wood burning stoves, when I lived in willard, Mo., I had a wood burning fireplace with vents to the other three rooms. it was so very warm.. miss that smell.. illigal around here..
Linda; I about did have to change my pants when I found this snake it does look real, I can't really tell but loooks like a common black snake.. it is really life like, I think he got it at a place that sold decoys or somethng.. should put it out in the garden this spring to keep the critters away right?
DD's 27 and 20 came by for a home cooked brunch.. kazaam they are gone.. seems little Oona, the kitty ( was a ferrel kitten) is very sick, so loaned her momma some kitty dr money..
Here is the basement Garden the way it looks now..
You are all so right about the smell. I love to go outside in the yard and inhale. It even smells warm and cozy. It is a natural smell so of course we all love it. It can make you dream of bonfires and weiner roasts, and fun songs.
Debra, I wish I had a basement where I could put some plants and putter around. Afraid DH would have it looking like the cluttered garage in no time. Then I think about going up and down stairs and that's getting harder and harder to do.
My brugs are slowly putting out more and more leaves. I have a couple that refuse to do anything, but I'm not taking them out of the moss just yet, hoping for some signs of life. I've discovered that the moss is the ideal way for me to go. Looks like a cool day so have to get out and get rid of more weeds. DH cut back my roses, shouldn't let him get a clipper in his hands. Wanted to know if he should cut back the ones in back yard, NO WAY I'll take care of them myself.
Sami: the moss works great for me too for the small cuttings.. I wish I could live in California again.. it is so cold here.. bleah.. my DH does not even TRY to touch my Roses or any of my plants.. he is the lawn mower guy and that is about it! LOL thank goodness!
Lyle killed a real one the other day that kinda looked like that... I was walking and luckily looked down and screamed! I do it so often it doesn't even phase Lyle..lol... he finally came and killed it, then picked it up by his tail... OOHHHHH... he knows NOT to swing it my way..lol
Debra, I still haven't tried that moss even though I got some. So many rave reviews guess I need to get up off my can!
Kathy ... yes there is noting like the smell of a wood fire... since I don't have one here, I guess I get my fix by burning a brush pile
Linda Kay.. TY for giving me a good chuckle.. snakes make you feel that way..lol
Audrey.. sorry, I must be thinking of someone else.. HB this Friday!! You'll be 39 again right??
Bonnnie... hope the weekend has gone good for you!!
Right!!
Audrey... rotflol
Girly, you're bustin' out all over! Just showin' out!
I really like the star shape of the yellow one, and if you look close you can see the different yellow tones in it.
LK
Linda Kay... just gorgeous!! I like the yellow one too! How are you feeling today??
I am feeling much better today, Thanks. Just have to watch the timing of the pain pills.
Does anyone know the type of the yellow brug, or a name for it?
LK
I love that Yellow one! It is just awsome!
You all make me nervous showing your brug blooms in Nov. I worry that I am being foolish getting brug cuttings and rooting them. My plants are long gone by now. I worry that my growing season will not be long enough to see blooms.
Kathy, Just keep them inside, keep them fed, give them attention as much as you can... I bet you see blooms!
I have nothing in the Brug cutting collection I have here that is anywhere near a bloom, some don't have leaves over an inch long, but since I had my first brug thru winter waiting for spring, out in the natural, big and tall and graceful, nodding and waving to you in the wind, rewarding you with such a delicate, sweet, shy,and showy bloom.... I know they will thrive to survive, and you will be so happy!
I thank you for the encouragement. I am definitely going to work as hard at it as I can. I want so very much to have them bloom next year. Actually, I would not mind too awful much if it took two years. I can spend a year letting them grow good bottoms if they want.
Morning my friends!!! gotta get going >>>>cya : )
One of those nights I couldn't sleep so I still in front of the computer and see what is going on in Dave's Garden. At least this way I can catch up on a lot of threads I don't normally get to read.
Everyone have a great day and will "see" you all later.
Morning. Coffee and stor bought choclate cookies for breakfast. I figure I ate healthy yesterday with a banana and an egg so this morning I can junk. ; )
Taters, what a pretty sunshiney bloom to see this morning. really lights up the thread. : )
Got most the leaves off the gh yesterday, but since th epitch wasn't built high enough still got about 4 feet on each side of the very top brace where the leaves are sittign there just teasing the heck out of me, cuz my broom and even standing on top of ladder is not enough to be able to get at them.
Wanna know how to go from happy to sad to happy in again in under five minutes? For weeks I ben wondrign what in th eworld happened to my good pink cuttign scizzors. I had hunted and hunted evrywhere, even looked down in the car seats. With me , ya never know ya might be in there. LOl Couldn't find em.
I got almost to the end of one side of th egh and whoooooo hooooo there sittign on the edge was my scizzors. Guess when I was cuttign strips to seal the plastic I must have put them up there. I was so happy. I stuffed em in my back pocket and hoped that I would remember them before I tried to sit down.
Contiued cleaning leaves off, was happy ad decided I would cut a few mum flowers, went to my back pocket for the scizzors and nothing. felt all around hope that miraculously they would be there. Immediately my smile went to frown again. Was thinkign fudge, and I just found them. I looked at all the leaves I had flung off gh and really got depressed. I was now standing almost knee deep in leaves everywhere and knothing the cutters would be heavier than the leaves and probably buried again til spring. : (
Figured it woudl be a lost cause but started walkign all around the outside frame, kicking up leaves as I went. Couldn't find them. Decided to give up and hea dback to house. gave the leave sone last kick as I trugged to the front door and goodie.. goodie.. goodie.. There they were. Seeing them pink handles I was happy again!
Into the house they came with me. Now yesterday I was sittignhere working on all these seeds for the swap and darn if I cna figur eout now where I put them again. Somedays, I just can't win. ; )
Hope everybody has a winner of a day though. : )
Rain showers scheduled for today, figures after I had to water everythign yesterday, but was so nice to wake up to 40 instead of 20.
Star, the story of my life, finding something putting it in a safe place then never can remember where that place is. I'm always losing my garden gloves even though I have several pair, put them down turn around and forget where I put them. Was pulling some tall weeds in back yard and located a screwdriver that had been lost for a few months. Organization is not one of my skills so after years of trying I'm back to my same old ways. I just tell DH don't ask me where anything is because I have no idea where I put things. I don't lose my glasses because they are on my face all day. ^_^
Pegi and Star LOL Oh Pegi I just know I suffer from "sometimers" ..
Star I loved your story.. you took me outside, feeling proud, looking forward to a bouquet of mums, to dashed hope, frustration, aggravation, anger, to surprise, joy , happiness, and a sense of accomplishment all in one story. Great Way to start the day off sis! ;D thanks so much!
Everyone wakie wakie gonna have to get that water bottle mister out and start spraying around in here....
So, I got curious about my new babies and checked the roots? They are rooting nicely but only one is putting out leaves. Not worried about it. If it's putting down roots, it's okay.
Thanks to all who sent them! ☺
Ella and Pegi.. now I know I was a triplet at birth and for some reason Momma gave you 2 girls away..lol... we have to be kin!! LOL'ed soo hard on your story Ella... I ROTF... hehehe
Celia.. isn't it wonderful to see those roots? I have some that are rooting, but no leaves too... guess they are "slow" like me!!
Have a great one.... all day !!
Can't be any "slower" than me!!! LOL
morning every one . im so mad ! i bought 2 roses from hortico last spring . they were broken and never came out of dormancy . they replaced one because it was broke it was too soon at that point to know if the other one would be ok . the replacement had one black cane ! i mean one cane and it was black! so i emailed a pic saying i was insulted by what they sent and felt like it was done on purpose because i complained . so they offered to send me 2 more at no cost in the fall . so i look at my bank and they charged me for shipping . they kept my card on file over 6 months . the worst part is that i have like 6 emails back and forth one of which they specifically said i wouldnt be charged again . so im off to call them . then i got to get dh ready to go back to the boat. we still dont know which boat hes going to but at least he got to talk to the big boss so he feels better
have a good day everyone!
Peg.. I wear glasses to and some days I can't find them. LOL
One place wear I used to work, I always had to wear my hair up in a bun. I would get tired of always having to dig in my pockets for my pen to take orders. I got in the habit of stoickign them in my bun and pulling them out when I needed one. One day my midn must have been someplace else still lingering over a cup of coffee. I had to keep going around and hunting and begging pens from co-workers to use. They gave them to me, but had wondred why I was gettign such strange looks from them and co-workers all day long. I got home, immediately jumped on the couch to put the tootsies up and bounced back of the couch. I had like almost ten pen and pencils all stuck in different directions sticking out of my hair. I still do that sometimes.
Now I have a very good excuse for all the crazy things I do. it a very real and ligit one and I stickign with it. : )
When I was born way up North it was in the middle of winter and the hospital was 50 miles away, tons of snow and sub zero temps and bad winds a blowing on the day it was time fo rme to come home. The old car didn't have a heater in it and hospital said the rent on my crib was up and time to mossey on out the door and get a life.
Well to keep me warm they bundled me and bundled and bundled until I couldn't possibly be bundled anymore. Now ya know how they wheel new moms to the car carrying the baby. Well, they got mom and me in the car and settled and on the way home we went. Not a peep was heard from me the entire trip.
Home arrives me, this giant bundle and there are the friends and relatives as will come to visit. Slowly all the blankets are unwrapped. And there I am in all my glory. Big feet sticking up for the world to see wavign in the air.
Seems somehow when I got transfered to the car from the hospital with al th bundling I got turned upside down and got carried that long drive home upside down. My life been upside down and crazy since. heheheheh
Morning everyone, I have one more picture to share with ya. It has two brugs in it, the one on the left is JanLynns Insignis pink, and the other one is the Pink Velvet. Both are now open fully, and so beautiful. And my yellow one smells like sweet lemons, such a lovely scent from all of them. Hopping on one foot doing the happy dance for sure.
JanLynn, Thank you so much for getting the brug addiction going on in this part of the world. Even DH (Todd) goes out each morning to check on them, and take a whiff!!! ^_^
Thanks to each and everyone one of you that have contributed to the brug addiction!!!

Good morning all. I am off in a couple of hours to spend a few days with grandchildren. I may not have time to get on their puter. I wanted to stop in and wish all a happy and blessed turkey.
Right back to you Kathy.
Drive safely!
LK
Thanks, Linda. It is a couple of hours drive and weather is supposed to be sunny and in 60's today. Will be a nice drive.
LK---Glad to have enabled you and turning you into a HBA!!! Isn't it amazing how a 'little' stick can turn into something soooo beautiful and HUGE?!
Everyone---Have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!
Jan..."The Enabler" :)
Ella that is the funniest story I've heard in a long time! Thanks for sharing it! I am having a great time this week and enjoying the unconditional love of my family....I'm so lucky that my kids are doing so well in life, and constantly telling me they give me all the credit for doing such a good job in raising them. I am humbled, and honored, in that I shine, and live through my children, and who they have grown to be as adults. What more blessing could a mother want?
Just feeling sentimental this morning I guess, that my children think I'm the best person in the world even though others might disagree. What a wonderful feeling to be enveloped in their love and admiration, it just makes the pettiness and the backbiting of the world seem so insignificant. LOL, I digress from Brug talk I know, but just feeling sappy, AND fortunate this morning I guess! May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be so blessed with true love from your family and friends.
I am looking forward now to receiving ornaments and boxing them up! Christmas will be upon us before we know it now. Every day my Brugs get bigger and more beautiful and I can't wait to plant them out in the Spring, and see how big I can get them before next Winter. Thanks to those of you who enabled me also this year! I hope I can do the same next year.
Well, gotta go run, kids will be home for lunch soon and then another day of merriment. Take care friends!
Linda Kay... just gorgeous!! My Monster White finally opened last night, but I am losing a couple buds... just hope the others hang on
Jan.. good to see you!! And yes you are an enabler.. ty for my bleeding heart... it's dormant now.. or at least that's what I hope it's doing!
Kathy... have fun with those GK's.. I know you will!!
Karen what a wonderful testimony you have in your girls!! Mine have told me that but it's been a while.. Don't let the world get you down!! My ornaments will be in the mail in the morning, or I just might have to bring them to you..lol... I know the time is closing in for when we are supposed to have them to you!! Sorry I am always dragging up the rear!!
