She's About To.............#38 - Brug Addicts Chat

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, I'm not sure what people are doing but we have been having fun recently, and had lots of people posting on the last thread, through yesterday and some still today, and a new member too. This is a busy time of year for everyone, I wouldn't worry too much about a lack of interest or fun on the thread. Not everyone has the time on their hands to stay on here and post and lurk like you and I do, LOL!

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

I would be happy to sit and chat but even with the whole woman power surge thingy I still do eventually get cold. Someone has to bring that darn wood up and it looks I am the only volunteer. A day like today it is just the excuse that I need to get my lazy self out the door. In weather like this it would not take much to convince me to just sit here and get lazy.

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Hello everyone. The laugh is on me this time. My one stalk of Puppy Love I left outside has Y'd and I just found three new buds on it. Weatherman has predicted 27 tonight. But so far he has been wrong. Maybe I will have a white Christmas, a "white" Puppy Love one. LOL. I ain't believing this after waiting all summer.

Brrr, you northerns HBAs with all your cold and snow. Keep cozy by those fires. I would so hibernate. I don't like snow or ice, except just to look at. Hope everyone is okay, this time of year does get very busy and it is going to be that way for a couple of months. Lov, Peg

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Congrats with puppy love that is sooo cool.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Peg! Awe, a white Puppy Love Christmas! That is one I would love to have, they are so pretty....

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Just got in from slipping my Brug Bags over my babies....temp was 70 today but plummeting fast, down to 31 tonight. This front will last 2 days, then temps near 70 again. Ah, Texas weather....No wonder so many people here are sick! Heater one day and air conditioner the next, LOL!

We had salmon patties for dinner so I am busy fumigating the house. I love them, but they sure do make the house stink ☺

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Wish I had gotten an invite to dinner. I love salmon patties or salmon loaf yum yum

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

mmmm I love salmon patties! Just finished wrapping up and packing the ornaments.. por phyllis I hate the cold too.. it was so windy and cold today, I am wearing thick socks up to my knees and two sweatshirts.. about to go down to the basement nurseery where the lights are and get a tan LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey everyone, using my laptop, and finally figured out the wireless thing!!!
My foot surgery is for plantar faciitus, and heel spurs. I can't believe you had 5 surgeries for this. OUCH! Once is enough. I had the left foot fixed 8 weeks ago, and now it is time to fix the right one. Plantar faciiitus, is where the tendon on the bottom of your foot gets stretched out, and he has to cut it to make it shorter, and tighter. Not fun at all!
Be good. Stay warm, and protect those little brug babies.
LK

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Morning folks. Anybody want a head cold this morning? Felt it coming on yesterday and it full blown this morning. Wonder if I could use a coupel of these brug cuttings to keep my head propped up. LOL

Don't see any coffee aroudn yet, so hold on and it be ready in a couple of minutes for everybody.

Oh fudge, just read where Debra wrapping her ornaments. I got mine in lttle cases, but didn't even think about wrapping them. Glad ya posted that before I mailed mine.

Been awake since about 3 this morning. Man oh man ome high winds have blowing most of the night. Listened to the nuts hitting all night the trailer roof and underpinnign banging around. Still got to try and get a few mor small quick hoops and plastic over some plants.

I read somebodys post about about it normal to lose leave s in the house. I sure hope that right.

The one si have in pots in the unheated gh stil have their leaves, they gettign a bit of yellowing on the bootom leaves, don't know if that normal or cuz they need food? The couple new ones I got in that are in the house still are losing their leaves. Wonder if I should move them outside to the gh? Poor babies. : (

Athens, PA(Zone 5b)

Ugh,Star, I do not want your head cold, thanks anyway, hope you are feeling better☺my Brugs are looking bad, bad, bad too. All their beautiful blooms and leaves fell off 3 weeks ago and now the poor things are in the cellar☻It's normal but Oh so sad to look at☻I will take a pic of the sadness as soon as I can bring myself to show how bad they look☻

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin all you sis's and bro's..

Debra... that is the sweetest face on your Duke... I can see why you love him.. well heck anyone could! TY for the coffee!! I need some to wake me up and get me moving this morning!!
Kim... how wonderful... I know that smells wonderful!! My Monster White almost has 1 bloom really to open.. maybe I should bring her in the house, since I never got to enjoy her fragrance when she opened during Ike!!
Ella.. I really hate you have a cold.. but NO ty..lol... you just keep it to yourself!!..lol.. I'll stop by and have a 2nd cup of coffee with you.. I think it is normal for the leaf drop coming inside.. mine did when I brought them in just those 3 days during Ike.. LOTS of leaf drop!
Lu.. I hate you lost your blooms!! There's always spring to look forward too!! At least you will have a start with the ones you already have and will see blooms sooner!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good Morning HBAs, I'm ready for ornament packing! I got them completed about the same time Debra was prolly getting to bed last night... (might need some brug sticks to hold your eyelids up today, Debra!) lol Karen thanks for that nice lil note you sent out about them yesterday.. Glad you are making way for your work table, Debra... I'll be re-claiming my dining table today from the ornament construction. Thanks for the refreshments this morning.. Ella it is normal for brugs to drop leaves, buds and blooms when we change their environment.. one of the reasons I remove move of the big leaves before I bring them inside. I've tried to catch up with the thread... I'm saddened by everyone's health problems, you're all in my prayers... LK hope that surgery is over and you are home resting (was the surgery yesterday?) It is sunny and cold here this morning. I'll have 1 more coffee refill and must get busy around here... Posy, it is okay, they will be beautiful again...

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Ella, you got big brugs in the unheated greenhouse or little young ones?
I wanted to tell Debra, my mom did resort to the glass of cold water method to get me to get out of bed a couple times.. your Duke looks like a very loving companion... wrapping ornaments... I ain't THAT organized.. but they are complete.. I'll get my Christmas wrap out when I go visit my plants. Kim how's the weather up there in PA today? I should check my jasmines.. Debra gave me a variegated confederate jasmine.. it has new leaves... Debra!! The little variegated leaves are so cute, I just love it, it doesn't even HAVE to bloom! I should send you a pic of it's progress.. I was a little worried for a while.. TTYL

Eunice, MO(Zone 5b)

Varieagated jasmine. I agree, if I had one I would not care if it ever bloomed. I just hunted down a picture of one and I love it!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

I went to check on my biggest brug and found a couple tiny buds that had fallen off. I didn't know they were there and don't expect any more this year.
I've got daylily seeds that are sprouting. First time with those too. I've spent more time with plants the last few months than ever before. The addiction came upon me very fast, must be all those beautiful flowers everyone posts.

I'll have to check out the varigated jasmine too, all I have is night blooming now and plan on getting some star jasmine from the brother's

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
