Karen, noooooooooooooo, stay plezzzzzzzzzzzzz
She's About To.............#30
Hi everyone. It's been a long day. I sprayed my cuttings with Karen's recipe today for the first time. I pray for good results. I even sprayed Miss Gargantuan. I took her out of Sooner Country and will let her spend the night outside. Clemen convinced me she will like the cooler air.
Hi Peg, yes we did have a good time camping. It was a little breezy and cool at night. That part of Texas is more open and flat than East Texas. We could watch the migration of geese and ducks.
My daughter has a bush that bloomed today that we don't know what is. it has kind of waxy, serrated leaves and stands about 4 ft tall. Anyone game on identifying it for us?
Jeanne.. the leaves remind me of a camelia. We love to camp... so glad you had a good time!
Nite Karen... sweet dreams
Clemmie.. hmmm looks like you are stuck with me.. you lil chick!!...lol
Joyce.. I don't think we'll have to do that many ornaments..lol.. at least i hope not! Karen hasn't started us a sign up sheet yet... then we'll know how many we have to make, or however she decides to do the ornament swap
Hi all. It's been a super long grueling day and I am heading to bed. Just popping in to say hi and hope everyone is well. will catch up later
I thought camelia too but I thought they bloomed in the spring. I will have to research the plant files.
I just looked up the only listing in the plant files for camelia and that wasn't it. I will google it now.
Becky I do believe you are right. I googled camelia and ..bingo! I saw a pic similar to Alicia's. They bloom from Autumn until spring. Hmmmm, I think I may need a cutting.
There are two types of Camelias. One blooms in the fall and one group blooms in the spring. There are alot of beautiful signle and double Camellias out there.
They beautiful to pick a bunch of blooms and put in a little bowl of water on the counter. With you being in Texas would give them some shade in the hot afternoon.
Jeanne... I have read they are easy to root! I have 3 large plants at my Momma's that are being swallowed up by the woods. I have been telling myself for about 3 years I was going to dig them up and bring them to my yard... welll I am still saying it, and they are still there... lol... I might still be able to do it... yeah right..lol... Glad you found out what it is!!
Where's everyone at?? HUH??? Here I sit... and everyone is gone!!..lol.. just my luck!!
They probably doing what we should be doing. Catching zzzzzzzz's. LOL
They take along time to root and if your tryign to root cuttings now you need some bottom heat. If ya search Camellias in the tree and shrub thread you wil see pics of some really beautiful Camellias.
Hey star... we crossposted..lol.. what's your real name.. we like to be on first name basis here... you may have said, and I missed it...
BTW... usually the bulk of Camelia blooms here are in late December and January
OH Yes... star... we have a lot of earlybird hotties here...lol
I know come morning I amgonan regret being up late too. Usually I fall alseep by ten and am back up about 3 or in the morning. I am an early riser. Ella is the name, but so used to seeing and answering to Star, starlight, on Dg that I don't even recognize my name anymore.
I probably gonna have one more cup of coffee and then find my pillow.
Nice to meet you Ella.. pretty name! I am Becky or Beck.. depends who's talking..lol... but I answer to most anything! I like to sleep late. Always have. I envy you early risers though, cause the older I get the less I get done in a days time.
Ya but the good thing about getting older is you have an excuse to take a nap and an hour or snooze in the afternoon. ; )
I really shouldn't be up. Now I went and got me some more seeds and a brug stick. Nighttime is a dangerous time to be shopping. LOL
Morning H & H’s
I guess I make the early bird list again today, again I feel asleep watching a movie last night. Beck, I’m the Eastern most but I think there are others further north than I am. I really need to find a big map of the old USA. Hope you get that GH started soon, winter is coming, a bit faster here than there. Jeanne, I love that Camellia, it’s gorgeous. Star/Ella, I see you on that seed coop, along with lots of others from here. I’m there too; I’ve got a cart full of seeds I’m buying. Clemen hope your burg babies made out okay last night, it’s cold here this morning. My little guy is coming today for a visit, so I’ll be a happy Nana this afternoon.
Gee , everyone.. hard to catch up.. been away from this thread a couple days and you go and chatter away.. count me in on the ornaments.. AuntB knows what I have up my sleeve! Temp got down to 35 the other night officially... colder here .. frost bit a couple of my brugs.. burrr! Winter is really trying to make an appearance here. That camelia is beautiful.. had a house in CA I rented .. had a line of them along one side.. house was built in the 20's.. the people who lived there before me never took care of the yard, fertilized or watered anything.. so they never bloomed..I moved in and started taking care and they bloomed.. neighbors of 20 years were so surprised! ... so was I. They looked like wax flowers.
Now Tammie you know you can't stay away like that! I was wondering and worrying about you! Hubby woke me up bumbling around the bedroom this morning...Brrrr, it's 40 here. I turned my little heater on low in the growhouse last night so I hope it's warm but as it's dark here and cold no way I'm checking yet.
I hope to be planting some of my brug cuttings later this week that I've had rooting in the Orchid Moss. I'm not going to wait until the entire cup is full of roots. Those that I can see roots visibly swirling I'm going to go ahead and put in dirt. I just feel better doing that because of the cold weather.
Hey Donna Bug, where's my coffee?? LOL, when I wake up early I can always count on you to be here. Do you get up early every day? Always a joy to see your pretty face after you being gone sick for so long. You are dearly loved. Glad you get to see Aidan today...What is Siobhan going to be for Halloween?
Morning Tammie and Donna and everyone, just a Hello as I pop in and out to go to work, will sneek in later.. my Peach Versi is happy and opening up and I will continue the story later on tonight.. Hugs stay warm.. learned a lesson.. if it isn't a frost warning don't cut down! oh well its' done and I am over it.. :) Debra
Morning Karen {{hugs}} cya latr from work tell everyone I said a Happy Friday!
okay then.....•:*¨¨*:•.-:¦:-.•:*¨¨*:•.Happy Friday!!!!!•:*¨¨*:•.-:¦:-.•:*¨¨*:•.

Moring, Tammie, Karen and Debra
Tammie it is amazing what at little TLC will do for plants. So nice you got that CA yard to wake up and show its colors.
Karen I think it was around 30 here last night. The coffee has been on since 5, so I will make you a new pot, I’m about ready for more. I always had to get up early for work around 4:30 – 5 to be in by 7. I guess it will take some time to readjust my schedule. Siobhan will be Ariel for Halloween, from the Disney store; their costumes are now 50% off so my DD is going to the mall today for either credit or to return and re-buy. I’ve leaned in the past few days that feeling better and being able to do the normal things are two different stories. Ah, it’s just all of the process; I’ll be up and running soon.
Debra good to hear that PV is going to bloom for you anyway. Have a great day at work.
We got a good frost. Now that it is light outside I can see it. My garden will be black and yucky by noon. Hope it was enough to kill the rag weed so I can go outside and clean up a little. Clemen I’m praying you did not get the same, it’s really really cold here, can’t believe I had the AC running last week.
Morning to ya all. Been rainign here for the past 10 hours straight. Hope it lets up soon. Looks like a didn't get one part of my gh the plastic on the top tight enough and have a mini swimming pool I gonna have to go out there and try and push up and off. Think I will eat a bowl of oatmeal or weaties before I try it. Just hope I don't end up taking a shower too. Ice cold water first thing in the morning coverign the body is not fun.
Anybody up for hauling heavy soggy wet pots around today? Nope, Me either, hope they dry out soon.
Morning everyone. Just popping in to say hello, and let you know I am getting ready to go see my foot doc for a follow up, and get my appointent for my next foot surgery. YUCK! But at least it will be all done in another 12 weeks... I will be back on later tonight.
There is a nice article here on DG I found this morning for those of you that are new to brugs. It will answer just about everything you need to know for taking cuttings.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1674/
Have a good day.
Linda Kay
Great article Linda Kay, thanks for sharing! Hope your Dr.s appt. goes well today. Did you say 12 more weeks? Ouch, that seems like a long time with a sore footie....Oops, edited because I didn't realize it was another surgery

Just a quick Hello, got to open the office at 5:45 this morning and close it at 5:30 I am just sooooooo lucky.
I found a guy who has some great chrome plant racks for sale. I think these are really plant racks because they are stair stepped, they are chrome about 47" in long. Going to look at them on my lonnnng lunch hour. Hope they turn out as good as they sound.
Lovely bloom! No frost here today and warming up for the weekend. I need to drag everything out and spray and get it all rearranged. Think I figured out how I want it. Then if I have the new racks I will need to work them in. Taking off Monday suppose to be nice. Course any day is nice when you aren't working.
Donna I am at least a zone colder than you and no heavy frost...sorry you got hit. My mummies are still blooming, roses, dahlias, orange cosmos, and iris to name a few. I have the best reblooming yellow iris. It is amazing. This is last years picture, blooming just like it this year!
Star, Ice showers do not sound like fun, let the sun warm it up a little if you think it will hold. Linda kay, I read that article this morning, it was very good. Hope the dr goes well, 12 weeks is a long time. Joyce the frost was okay with me; I had everything in that I was keeping. Those shelves sound great, hope they are what you wanted. Love that Iris, the yellow ones are so beautiful. I thought I had an early call for work, I can’t imagine being there at 5:45.
Wakey wakey every one, time to get up and moving.
Good Morning and Happy Friday to everyone! No frost on my big bruggies and the SUN is coming out... Ahh! and it's Friday and life is GOOD! (not sure about the sun, came out long enough to be in my face on the way in this morning)
Joyce those are gorgeous.. at first I thought you planted your "cemetary plot" and had them blooming already! lol
Donna, it's probably hard to know when you've pushed yourself enough but not too much... I'm sorry your garden will not be so pretty from the frost, but I'm glad, also because now you can go outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air, with a jacket..-I hope..
Debra I need to go catch up on your thread, I get kinda honed in on the Hottie thread and forget Dave has a big ol gardening world out there for us to enjoy. I'm still thinking about a "menu" for our Hottie Day Tuesday, chili? Vegie soup? I know we're going to have homemade bread and/or cinnamon rolls, I'm yearning to smell that Fallish baking smell! I think it's suppose to be mid 50's that day.. (woohoo)
Starlight, I was wondering what your real name was and I think it is pretty! Just like you, I'm sure, cause you're a Hottie!
Tammie, I'm a good lil Hottie secret-keeper elf ;) Loved your camelia story.
Karen, It was very late when I got to sleep last night, sure hope I get out of here early today.. so cool how you've fixed your greenhouse up to be a haven for you.. maybe I'll try one of your recipes out on Debra....... (I'm so excited to have her come visit)
Oh, Linda Kay, I didn't remember you had to have more foot surgery... poor hottie.. kinda puts a crimp in your style when you can't get around like you want.. I'm going to check out that link you posted- thx
Morning morning and posting quick, going to see my mami!
Wishing everyone a nice day, don't miss me too much, lol!
Morning Hotties and handsomes!!
Well...it's still morning now, but by the time I get this posted it'll be way into afternoon..lol
Donna... I guess I need to get a map... is PA further than you?? never mind..lol.. I'll get the map.... so glad you are feeling more each day like the living
Karen.. you have such a way with words that just brings a smile to my face when I hear you posting to everyone on here! I wish I had that eloquence with words. I guess I have more Redneck in me than what I thought..lol
Ella... oh yeah.. be careful on making that "waterfall"..lol
Tammie.. bought time you came back home!! We're like a bunch of sisters that haven't seen each other in a while.. you know chatty cathies..lol... I guess we don't remember we just "saw" each other a few minutes before..lol
Joyce.. those plant stands sound like just the thing!! WOW
Linda Kay.. ouchie!! Girl..... at least soon it will be a memory... I've had both mine worked on too, and know it's NO fun!! Let us Know!!
Debra... you did??? you didn't??!!...LOL.. no worries... Bonnie said she has had blooms on brugs that were cuttings in a 5 gallon bucket!!
Speaking of... Bonnie... I was up late too...lol... very late... cept I just got up.. OK..OK... somebody whip ME with the wet noodles..lol... oh wish I could be at ya'lls mini Hottie RU... what fun!! That homemade bread sure smells wonderful... right now..lol
Donna.. I am up... just NOT attem'..LOL
Aw Becky, you ARE eloquent with words! Don't you know by now that you're posts are everybody's favorites! You always make us laugh!
Ella I pictured you squealing this morning picking up cold watery stuff and it running down your arms...Yuck..hope you get your messed cleaned up soon girl!
Donna, have you or DD's ever watched the cartoon "Family Guy"? They are situated in Quohag, RI and there is a song Stewie and Brian sing called "We're off on the road to Road ISLLLLAAAAAAAANNNDDD!" Everytime I see your state by your name I hum that to myself, LOL! Ah well, I have a strange-o sense of humor....
Allright Tammie! Becky knows what I'm making AND what you're making for the ornnaments! I know, she just has that way of making you want to spill your guts to her, HAHA!
LOL.. Karen... it doesn't take eloquence to make someone laugh.. just a looong Texas drawl.. a bit of crazy.. and a "who cares... that they think!!"... attitude..lolol
hmmm you sure I got Tammie to tell me what she's making??.. I don't think so................ TAMMIE.... where you at girl!!..lol ( running outa here... wellllllll... not running .. I can't "do" running..lol.... wobbling....outa here... TAMMIEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!...hehehehe
Oops, hehe, it's Aunt B that knows ☺ My bad
Ok Hotties - I'm confused - The weather is saying a frost advisory - but it lists the low expected as 49 - how is that possible - Mountain Magic is about too!! bud is about 5-6" long - I don't want to mess this up - Do I bring her in??
UH HUH.... Karen... made me walk all over to find Tammie..lol... I didn't think I knew that secret...NOW... where's Bonnie... BONNIEEEEEE!!!!!!....hehehehehehe
Esther... I'm in 8b and they said we might get down into the high 30's last night.. don't know about tonight.. but 49 ain't no where near close to frost!! Any temp above FROST .. she should be fine. A frost might not hurt her....IF... you go out before the sun hits her and spray her down to get the frost off her leaves.
Going back out!! The weather is just plain gorgeous here!!
That's what I thought but they keep repeating frost advisory tomorrow am - like 3-9am - but low predicted as 49 - an the low is higher tomorrow - but I don't want to chance it - I never thought about the temp a frost can occur at before - just seems like it should be a whole lot closer to 32
MERPEG, I BOXED UR MOENINGS UP ABOUT AN HOUR AGO AND THEY WILL B ON THEIR WAY TO U TOMARROW, I'LL LET U KNOW THE POSTAGE AS SOON AS I MAIL THEM. I SENT U 5, SHARE THEM IF YA WANT.
That is a good article on rooting brugs, Tatters. Helped me a lot so of course I had to print it out for my "collection". I've got to get organizing my print outs before I get so many I don't know where to start.
I do believe Sandy D is the furtherst NE...Then Me and Posy...Then Donna... Kim and Clem...or visa versa
As far As NW/NC i'm not so sure but Bonnie is 5B like me....and Joyce and Cat and I think Jan...may be 5a
Not sure what zone Deb is...
I've had my angel GD all day and she just left...
DD's deadline is today for the magizine...so she had to go into the office..
Hey there sweet Phyllis! I've been missing you! So glad you got to visit with that darling GD today, hope you got lots of sweet hugs and kisses in!! What magazine does your daughter work for? That sounds like an interesting job.
