Hey Starlight! I'll take a cuppa that Joe! Make mine strong and black! Donna, Bonnie and I discussed the ornament swap just last night. Bonnie has participated in one before and has generousl agreed to help me with organizing it. We will make our OFFICIAL sign up list on November 1, on a thread. We will give hotties about 3 days to join the list. Sorry but that is the soonest we will know exactly how many hotties will be involved. Tentatively planned, is to give the hotties about 2 weeks to make their ornaments and mail to me. I am going to the post office today to find out which smaller Priority box I can get that is cheap and free of weight restrictions, to mail them back in. Each hottie will print/buy her own return shipping label (which should be the same for everyone) with their ornaments when they mail them to me.

I will get more into details later, just wanted to give you a general idea Donna so that you can think of ornaments, and then about November 4, know how many you will need to make. The only thing I would avoid is heavy/fragile ornaments, like ceramic.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Linda Kay! And Wolfie, sorry I forgot to say hi! You are offering some great things, but I think I am done for the year thinking about flowers. Linda Kay, think of you often and how nice it was to meet you at the RU. You are such a nice lady, wish we'd got more conversation in.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm still working on getting my cookbook available for download on the web, but I have published it on one website. I'm sorry, don't know if you dial-up hotties will be able to view it, but I am hard at work fixing it. See if this works for now...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh my goodness. Karen, you are one talented lady, not only to have such a recipe collection, but to know how to post it on the web. I just took a quick glance, but you have a nice collection of some yummy looking foods. Thank you so much for sharing them.
I really enjoyed meeting you at the round up, as well as all the girls. it just was not a long enough day to do all the chatting we needed to do, and if my foot was better, I could have gotten around a little more. So maybe next spring or summer round up, we will meet again.
Please give us some sort of idea for this ornament swap. I can't think of anything to make 54 of, and put them in one box? Maybe 2 or 3... LOL
Do you have samples of last years?
Linda Kay

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Good morning! Finally sitting down to coffee, hectic morning already... and it's my day off and errand day for me. Keith's headed west to Albuquerque (sp?) I alway spell that one wrong. This trip is only for 7 days, then back home. They are really dragging their feet on finalizing his trips so he thinks it may not end up being as much travel as we first thought. But they pay his driving time, so that's okay.

Just barely got time to run outside last night and look at the brugs. I've got buds coming on three of the original five (I now have 9 since Beck gifted me four more at the RU.) And it's 41 degrees outside now. They really seem to like it these temps though. I will be taking in my "insurance" cuttings this weekend and then the experimenting really begins for me.

Joyce, that really is a pretty croton! I like that container, too... Good job Phyllis!

Esther, I brought the smoked brisket at the RU. I don't know who made the crockpot of BBQ. But it was gooood.

Got to run, groceries and errands! Yuck. Peg

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Morning all you sweet Hotties and Handsomes!!....brrrr it's a lil chilly here... not like you more northern girls... but chilly for this TX girl!!..lol

Donna... you are right... I bet us southern girls don't even own the proper winter clothing, and besides.. this girl hates COLD...will NOT drive in ice or snow... sorry you overdid it yesterday.. but in the long run.. I bet those kinda overdid it's... is what will get your strength back sooner!!
Bonnie... ahhhh... you played a hookie last night..lol... guess you needed the rest.. sure hope you aren't coming down with something! you ol "DA"... you!!! LOLOL
Joyce... that croton sure is pretty... and the container is gorgeous!! Phyllis is another sweet hottie "enabler"!!
Wolfie... yay!! so you got another puter!! Nice list you have, but i am trying to just be interested in what I have right now since ol man winter is coming . TY for your generosity!!
starlight... done had my 1 cup of coffee for the day.. but TY. How refreshing to have a new hottie sooo willing to go by the one hottie rule...lol..where is Seale?? are you a "north" zone b or a "south" zone b.. does that make sense??
Karen... this Hottie Christmas ornament swap sounds really neat..I have decided to use my idea we talked about... lol... you could too... you know... everyone has more than one..???... sorry.. can't give my idea completely away...hehe
Phyllis.... NOOOO I don't even want to see jack frost... but those leaves are pretty, and I know you have gorgeous fall color, of which we don't have much of...
LK... I hear you girl... NO snow for me!! Had plenty of it when I lived in TN.. loved it at first.. but when I had to work in it all day... it made a believer out of me real quick that I didn't like it after all!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey.. we crossposted sis!!... Been missing you!!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL, Linda Kay, you won't have to make 54 ornaments, I am sure ☺ The list that Donna posted was a total list of like every hottie that's ever stepped through the door here, not all active members. Bonnie and I are figuring 20-30 at the very most, and that's on the high end. Thanks for the compliments on the cookbook, it was a real labor of love for my girls to have when I can't cook anymore or am gone. I always wanted them to know how to make my dressing, or sweet potato pie, things that they would want to know later.

p.s. There was no swap here last year of ornaments, Bonnie was involved in another one on another website once. When I told her I'd like for us to swap names or something, she mentioned how fun it was.

Darkmoondreamer Karen! That is a WONDERFUL loving cookbook, can we save the link and view it anytime?? I sure want to try some of those recipes! Peg, glad to hear it's not as much travel as previously thought.. You know anytime you have a brug want I can fulfill, I'll do my best to accomodate ya! Thanks for the coffee Esther, me too, strong and black.. only put the fluffy flavor stuff in on the weekends.. got a have it straight during the week.. Karen and I talked about possibly everyone sending a dozen ornaments... if we have 48 hotties wanting to "play", everyone wouldn't get an ornament from all 48 hotties, but depending on size and shipping costs, 48 ornaments may not fit in the most economical shipping box. You would send your ornaments shipping label for her to send the collection of ornaments back to you and the postage to get them to you... We'll have to see how many of ya's want to play and go from there. I would think we would want her to be able to have time to organize and pack boxes to send out the 1st week in December.. that way we could enjoy them the whole holiday season. I made small 3-4 inch wooden birdhouse ornaments the year I participated (on another garden website) as I was into wood crafting at the time..

Mornin hotties! Just flying through to say hi. Busy busy! Miss you all!

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

TY Karen, I wasn’t sure about the dates. Hummm, small, lightweight, and unbreakable, my possibilities are getting limited. It’time to start looking around at the craft stores.
I’m going to check out your cookbook site now.

Phyllis that is not a pretty sight, we haven’t had one that bad here yet but it is coming soon.

Morning Bonnie, yup the wonder starts leaving the women after the big 50 along with the hourglass shape. Sure do wish you could be here with us on Sat., we won’t have much time but we will make the most of it.

Peg, glad the first trip out is only a week it takes some time to get use to travel, for him and for you. Nice to have the day off, to bad there are always errands to get in the way.

Beck, I was thinking of the snow and ice also, if you’re not use to driving on it it can be treacherous.

Wolfie so nice of you to offer for trade, nothing for me just now, I need to get organized and see what I have.

Starlight, I take that coffee, I’m about to go for another pot.

Linda Kay, I really don’t think there will be 54 hottie in the ornament trade. Some of those hotties don’t post that often. I put everyone on that list that ever posted to any of the “She’s about to………threads.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning Louise

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Joyce has to take credit for the container she put it in...That's hers..LOL
But I thought the little runner things coming off some of the leaves that seems to have a tiny leaf on it was different
Along with the colors...
I'm guessing she won't always have it where it is cause it says it gets to be 5-8' tall...
It's just a baby now...Easier to mail.....LOL

So Bonnie they also get flowers on it huh??

Most of the trees here have lost all their leaves and are naked..
The only ones that aren't are the protected ones in the yard..
Now I have raking to do...If I can get a foot out the door..
I'm like the Bears and hibernate...
My DSD commented that now she can see my house and spy on me...LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Wolfie! You ol do-gooder, you! I have too much... but you had me lookin over your list up there! I do have a few wants, but I am FORCED to be more selective on my acquirements.. There's barely room for me to move around down there in the greenhouse, so I'm puttin the brakes on for this season... REALLY! I YAM.
I told Karen last night, once she posts something for the HOS (hottie & handsome ornament swap) we will take the H&H RU list down until after the holidays. Keep thinking on it and even d-mail me ideas with H&H RU in the subject line... honestly, my Precious H&H's buddies, we won't be able to accomodate everyone - which is sad, but I'm learning... You can't please everyone all the time.. and it's a challenge (possibly a miracle?) to please some people, some of the time. But I haven't given up hope we can get something going that works for the majority. May just be campers and tents in my back yard, sleeping bags and blankets and pillows around my plants on the deck, but I'm a determined Hottie for some kind H&H get together.. keep the thought and communications going on it. Phone training..BBL

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

well... ya'll already know I am mean and ornery.... and outspoken...lol... so here goes...
I would LUV an ornament from every Hottie or Handsome that participates! I could make a lil tree with just the H & H's!! Now that sounds NEAT to me!!..lol.. I realize the shipping could get hefty, but if we all try to keep the weight down, maybe it wouldn't be too much, and as the MC commercial says... They would be priceless!!
On the RU.... I would rather be somewhere that we could give our undivided attention to each other! The RU's are great.. the plant trading is frantic... get a lil conversation in , and then it's over! That is why I am suggesting 1 plant... IF any. Go somewhere so we could just talk, and eat of course..lol... The time will be over soon enough.

weese... been wondering about you, and when those HOT dates with hunky DH would end..lol... nooo jk!! Glad you checked in!! Been missing you!
Bonnie... those ornaments are sooo cute!! That's what I am talking about!! Something handmade that we can cherish forever!
Karen... had to download adobe, and have tried to do this download many times, but evidently I am doing something wrong... haven't been able to get to the cookbook yet, but I will!! I am on dial up, but I don't think that will make a difference.. will it??
Donna.. yep.. me and ice and snow don't mix!! Even in TN I would never drive in it, AFTER my 1st attempt!!!...lol... haven't really looked at where all the hotties live but i would think somewhere around you.. Bonnie or Joyce would be the best... lucky ya'll!!
Phyllis... my leaves are falling too, and I don't even want to look at them since I just got through raking from IKE.. but.. I am going to save the leaves this year and make compost. Always burned them in the past... what a waste!!
Linda Kay.. how's your Karoosh.. was that his name?? anyway.. your baby!!

Heber Springs, AR

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Jim, how is that new computer working? What kind did you get? I know it is pretty frustrating that we spend so much for them, and 2 - 3 years later they quit working! So out we go to get another one.

Becky, I like the idea of a one plant swap, nice and easy, and then time for talking!!!

I was searching the web for ornament crafts today, and there are lots of ideas out there. Nothing fancy, but lots of easy things to make.

Take care
LK

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

If somebody has the time can you fil me in on this ornamental swap thingy

Becky. Think it was you who asked where I at. If you look at a map of Al and Georgia go down the line where the to meet til ya come to the part with like pinnochio nose. That about where I at. Stuck in the middle.

Got me a can of Chicken soup for dinner. with all the cold and wind, that gonan feel pretty good goign down nice and hot. A little too early in the season for chili yet, but the time is getting close.

:) I'm with ya Star on the daily fix... Welcome back to the WWW, Wolfie! I'm behavin... I'm behavin.. (ain't havin any fun!) Star, we are going to have a Hottie (man & woman hottie's) Christmas Ornament Swap... those who want can participate... Karen will post something soon (nov 1st?) so those who want to play can sign up.
Not too early for chili, here.. had Wendy's for lunch yesterday... So, :( I'm dragging my big brugs into the garage before tomorrow night... 33 degrees forecast for the overnight low on Friday.. :( it's over.. summertime brugs is over... :( Definate drop in temps from when I got back from lunch a couple hours ago... brrrr, time to drag out the coats and gloves... I LOVE summer.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Hey we go again, a long day without reading or posting and behind behind, that is my story always! Will be back later this evening my friends, busy cooking!

Bonnie, I left my bruggies outside today and praying we do not get the frost! Your zone is colder than mine and i heaard on the weather channel that some of your areas would get snow,, how horrible!. I managed to bring in more plants in the jungle and now i think i pulled a muscle. The love of plants and pains! See you all later!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Aw, Clemen, better get some eucalyptus oil to rub on your aches... supposed to be 36 here tonight.. Snow??? what's that? Naa, can't be... I'll try to leave work a little early tomorrow and Melissa can help me drag them.. you lil cooker, you! It's pizza (frozen/PapaMurphy's?) and Survivor night, here. I'll try to BBL after that.. Now, I can say I love summer SO much, even the days it's so hot and humid I have to water in shifts... really, I don't mind at all. :)

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Bonnie, I'm south of you, way south and our temp dropped almost 20 degrees since lunch. Now just at 50 outside and cloudy and windy. I thought I had everything in, then looked again, there's my begonia and Keith's new tomatoes still out there. That begonia is biiiiggg. But I made it in with it and no pain so far.

Wolfie, welcome back. I tried your e-mail a couple of weeks ago and it came back to me as undeliverable. Hmm. Maybe that was when you started having computer problems. Welcome back, Jeanne. How was camping?? Missed you at the RU, wished you could have come. Deb (HUGS) this time of year does get depressing for gardeners. Star, chicken soup sounds REAL good, but I promised DD to take her out for Tex-Mex, so I'm keeping that in mind for tomorrow night. I may just take a break from cooking with only me here, though.

Now, I have to tell a really, really bad story on myself. I just realized I took a lot of my sweaters and coats to the cleaners last March and did not pick them up. I cannot believe I did this! I'm just whipping myself with that wet noodle. But I know they donate stuff left there to a good cause, so... I guess I'd better start looking for bargains. :( Thank goodness I don't have to dress up for work anymore.

Okay got to go get ready for Mom and daughter dinner date! Talk to everyone later and stay warm! Peg

Hello everyone....Thank you all for the help offered in my last delima. (sp) Checking in now to show my winter sunroom greenhouse. The cuttings I had in water had rooted so I potted them and they are putting out new growth now. Sure hope they will be happy in soil instead of water for the winter. Looking forward to the christmas swap. Love to all.

Beck I could not download the latest version of Adobe on dial up either, I don’t think you are doing anything wrong. I wish I lived near Bonnie and the gang, I am most Northeastern hottie on board right now. RI is just a little NE of NYC, it’s so dang small it can be hard to find on a map.

Star chicken soup is beginning to sound good to me tonight. I don’t even want to think about my pc going down. Now it is consider a major appliance that I can’t live without.

Celmen, hope it stays a little warmer on the water for your buggies. Go easy on yourself and get that nice DH of yours to do the heavy ones.

Bonnie they’re predicting 31 here tonight so there is a good chance for frost. Your bird houses are adorable, I need to do some looking around.

Peg see how easy it is to forgo cooking when there is nobody else around to eat it. Oh it is so easy to leave things at the cleaner, don’t beat yourself up over it. Have a great M & D dinner. Love that plant pix, I’m clueless here what is it?

Faye that sunroom looks so wonderful; so nice to have a room for all of plant babies.

Heber Springs, AR

pineviewplanter, i'd love to have one of ur cuttings. i'll gladly pay postage or u can choose one off my list that i posted today.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Karen, I forgot to tell you the cookbook is fantastic, I looked at it earlier today.

Wolfie, you need to post that request on her thread.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Wolfie, you can also go back to the thread and click on her Dave name and d-mail her. I didn't think you wanted anymore cuttings or I would have filled up the box when I sent the Charles G.. you made me think Pineviewplanter came on down to the Hottie thread! lol Peg sorry for your coat woes... pretty begonia, too! Mine didn't like it when they came inside, dropped most of their leaves... enjoy your Mother-Daughter time with your Melissa. Faye! I just love all your plants, that is a huge aloe, they all look very happy, you have a lovely home. Phyllis, I meant to mention, about the croton...... it's the first time I've had one long enough to find out they bloom, sure was surprised. Need to go downstairs and see my cuttings and smell the brug smell tonight.. a date in the greenhouse with brugs!!! I'm such a socialite! haha So, I want ya all to post a whole bunch while I'm watching Survivor... then I can come back and try to read it all before I go to bed.. ;) Clemen sweetie... haven't forgot ya...gotta go!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey all...I just got back from the greenhouse, it is quickly becoming a cozy little get away for me! I even have a little tv in there, it's all well lit, cozy and warm. I feel like Lu in her teepee!! Where is Lu BTW, haven't heard from her in awhile?

Donna I'm glad you liked the cookbook. I am still working on an easier way for the girls with dial up to be able to download it.

Hotties, I am doing like Bonnie and creating something for you all. I have figured out a way to have an easy to view, better cookbook for you all to have and keep. Just give me a few days to input the 186 pages and it will be yours if you want it. I enjoy working with computer program and I look forward to being able to share it with you all.

Hello everyone!
Karen... yes.. I really want to see the cookbook.. I am dying for a tamale recipe! I know you are enjoying your greenhouse.. I am jusy hoping I get the 4 walls up before the 1st frost, or I'll be dragging everything inside!
Donna.. you may be the furthest North, but i think I am the furthest South... Ty for letting me know on the adobe!!
Faye... beautiful plants and a beautiful sunroom!!
Peg!! you're pulling a Beck thing now..lol.. on the dry cleaners!! Hope tya'll have a great time tonight, and eat some for me.. I LUV Mexican food!
Bonnie... alright.. survivor is over..lol

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Phyllis, the empty planter had been sitting on my bar for about 3 months just waiting for something to stick in it. The plant you sent fit perfect right now....LOL Like you say 5 feet from now might not work so well....LOL

Been so darn busy at work didn't even get to sneak in all day.

Peg what you did sounds like what I would do, but wonder if I would of ever figured it out...LOL When we use to take pictures with film, that was always one of my big fears. I got to where every time we went to costco I would check the film, dh would ask did you drop off film? I would reply don't know that is why I am checking....he would just shake his head...LOL

Faye, what a wonderful room! Just makes you feel so good to be some place like that.

Bonnie those ornaments are sooo cute. Every year since my niece and nephew were born I painted ornaments for them and dated them. One year my sister called and said they were driving her crazy cause they wanted to put them on the tree in date order....she said she also figured out when they move away she won't have any Christmas decorations....LOL

I want in the ornament exchange but 45 or 54 sounds like alot of ornaments to get done before Christmas. Sides I would have to buy a Hottie & Handsome Christmas Tree to put them all on.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Joyce did ya see those little runner things coming off the tips of some of the leaves??
Are they just more leaves??
I thought they were cool...

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

HAHA, I love to cook because I love to eat too, Clemen! It's not easy to read the way I have it up now but I am working on fixing that. I think I am going to bed early tonight, for some reason I'm very tired. Hope you all have a wonderful hottie night! Love you all my friends! ♥
