Wow, what a fantastic mistake! Good thing that you planted it in a area where it didn't make much of a difference if it was 18 inches or 15'. Or maybe you had to move it? I have never heard of 'sarah's favorite'. I will have to check it out. I lack for oranges in fall colors. I'm looking forward to the pictures!
Garden Photos - Part 40
I did have to move it - but not because of the size. It was not getting enough sun. Only after moving it did I get the shock of seeing it grow, but it was located where it was not a problem. I did have to move a few smaller plants as it grew.
Victor, that Crape is beautiful!!!!
Thanks, Jen. The long-lasting deep pink blooms are very nice too.
Gorgeous fall foliage Victor. I especially love that Sumac shot.
so for the night shots last night, I was standing on a bridge upstream from my place, looking towards where the yard is at. So, this time walked off the bank of the yard and am looking uptoward the bridge. It's Cloudy, so no nightshot. Although, still dim out. But I'm going to try this spot at night sometime!! should be interesting. If I were standing here in about 3 months i'd be at least 3 feet deep in the river. Think I'll get that nightpicture sometime soon :-p
I've been digging up some local history lately. Hard to believe, but in a major flood here on christmas of 1964, the water came up to the bottom of that bridge and moved it downstream on one side. It had to be rebuilt. I can't even imagine that much water here. If the water were even 7 or 8 feet higher than what it is in this picture, the valley towns downstream would have serious flood issues.
On a brighter note.... ampelopsis brevipendunculata berries.
that butterfly is pretty RC
Beautiful "butterfly" RC
It would make a nice pencil drawing.
Thanks Onewish and Ge!
JoAnn, I'll leave the pencil drawings up to you! Have fun and I'll love the finished view! If it can't be drawn with a compass or protractor, it won't be done by me!!! lol have fun.
Have a good morning all!
I think some people don't realize the danger until severe flooding occurs. Then it is too late. I feel the same about oceanfront property and barrier islands.
Awesome "creek" shot RC!! If you built at the top of the hill, it probably isn't so scary. :-)
Just in our news yesterday that 2,500 homes have been removed from our local flood zone.
Major renovations to the creek which always flooded has corrected over-flow issues, and now those home are not required to carry flood insurance.
Makes me wonder, now, when the next flood will be!
Great shots Shelly. Coloratus is so bright!
shelly the shot of the butterfly was nice - i did break down and get one about a month ago on sale - mine has not turned like that yet.
Thanks Bill, I think you'll really like it. Especially given that it's the variegated one that can take more sun than the others.
Glad to hear that they've tried to correct the flood issues around there Willie. It's still sort of Scary to think about though. The place where i'm at is at the top of the bank, (the top of the hill is about 1500' higher :-p)which the bank is at least 12' above and I think the house is15' above the current level. the other property is in a 100 year plane, since this place sits a foot higher than the land around it actually is in a 500 yr. plane. fFlood insurance is still required. They said that the place would have to be in a 1000 yr. plane to avoid the flood insurance! My problem is that the higher water levels, but not flooding house levels, would undercut the yard and part of it would slough off. I've been dealing with that slow process and building retaining walls (by myself, when I have time) as i've already lost a few feet off of the yard. Anyhow, that's just part of being here, 99% of the time it's all good!
Candyce, I remember hearing about that flood on the news. That was bad. Glad you faired ok though!
Beautiful pictures to catch up on!
you have been gone for a few days. Anything fun?
Hi RC. Went to the RU at Candyce's, then stayed in NH, VT for a few days, home on Tuesday. Took a lot of pics but can't get them uploaded yet. Beautiful colors. This weekend we are going to West Virginia for our caboose camping trip.
sounds like a good trip. I bet the fall colors are great. I'd say that's a plenty good reason for being away! Caboose camping sounds like fun.
I lied, I am going to post one more pic before bed. :-p I finally figured out how to separat a picture out a video tonight. It's not a great quality video, so of course the pic is a little blurry. I took this back in july.
Very cool picture! I'd like to know how you did it, I've done a couple from a video, but the quality isn't the same.
I did it from a video that I took from my camera. The first few pictures I did using Windows movie maker. I actually didn't know that I had that on my computer until just a few weeks ago. I'd hidden in the depths of nowhere when organizing. I think that program will do a better job if it is a better video to begin with. But, there's more steps involved than with using Picasa3, which is what I used for that pic up above. It's sort of fun. I just upgraded from picasa 2 photo editor to 3 a couple of weeks ago. It's really easy to do with that program.
that's a beautiful picture Deb! Really, it makes me want to go there!
I look forward to seeing more after I've had some sleep!

Thanks RC, sleep well.
I went to get the moon, and the sun was just coming up enough to hit those trees.
Nice Uki, Shelly. Beautiful shot, Deb.
