I've been digging up some local history lately. Hard to believe, but in a major flood here on christmas of 1964, the water came up to the bottom of that bridge and moved it downstream on one side. It had to be rebuilt. I can't even imagine that much water here. If the water were even 7 or 8 feet higher than what it is in this picture, the valley towns downstream would have serious flood issues.
