Beautiful pond shot, Victor.......and all of your other shots as well!
Lovely shots of your walk, JoAnne! I hope you aren't overdoing it!!! The boardwalk reminds me of our nature areas in Florida. They have to have raised walks because of the alligators!! LOL
Kathy - that's a beautiful fall shot with so much nice color contrast! And I love your Vanda! Gorgeous color!! I'm going to try to harvest you some closed bottle gentian seeds tomorrow! If I get some, I'll dmail you for your address to send them to.
Garden Photos - Part 40
I'd love them! Thanks for remembering me, Louise!
I'm just so happy we finally got to meet......and we were happy to meet Daniel too!!
great shots Victor - you are making it hard for me to keep my wallet closed! saw some itea's yesterday an another local nursery -
Shelly would like to know what kind of a dogwood that was - looks like hanging lollipops!
well, I wish that I had a better answer for you Bill, but it's just a straight cornus kousa dogwood. It's in a "grove" of sorts of all these other cornus kousa's. All the other trees are as one would expect. Over the last two years i've noticed this one that's always denser, has smaller flowers than the others--- but lots and lots of them, the flowers are arranged a little differently as well, and has all these multicolored "lollipops" as you put it. I think that I may have finally convinced the person who owns the land to try to let someone propogate the tree. I've mentioned it to them before, but this time I took them a picture that was obvious in how that one was different than the others. We'll see how it goes! I'll try to remember to find a picture of the flowers and post it this evening.
Lovely picture--send the bat this way, evidently we are losing some in MA & have plenty of mosquitos for them.
that's a really pretty sunset, with a bat, Jen! Thanks for sharing.
Boojum, I love those fall colors. What a beautiful day it was for you!!

for Bill, and whoever else is curious about the dogwood that seems to have the candy hanging from it, these are the only pictures of that same dogwood that I could find. I know that I had/have better ones somewhere, who knows where. Anyhow, these are OK. Keep in mind that these flowers are only about three inches across, but the leaves on the tree are actually smaller than normal anynow. So, the flowers still look proportionately the same.
Boogum those Toad lilies are spectacular. Are they in sun?
I had no idea the plant got that big.
Donnibrook ,Alligators?
The most threat from our swamp walk is a frog.
There were so many chatty kids , we didn't see any birds.
I really like to be there alone, there are places to sit now and then,so peacefull and quiet.
JoAnn, that 1000 acre swamp looks beautiful this time of year. I love the raised boardwalks. It takes a lot of work to maintane those things, that's for certain! Hopefully your foot has quit bothering you.
The foot is a bit achy today but otherwise doing well.
I took Motrine when I got home yesterday.
I just had to do something,I could feel the fat pileing up on wht was already there.
I am an Amazon type woman so don't need half of what's there.
Thanks for asking.

Don't you just hate that feeling that you get when you can't get out and do anything! It sounds as if you're handling it well though. Glad to hear it's doing well. Have a wonderful day!
I'm pretty much doing stuff as of a week ago, hope the doc says "don't need the bandages" anymore.
I'm wearing two shoes,it makes a difference.
The Swamp is an example of what leaving property to the Nature Conservency means.
It was a farm, given to the town, that developed a crude trail and birdwatch area with a large pond.
The town couldn't maintain it and let it to NC .The interviening years has seen housing developments around it. It makes such a welcome "green space" in a far suburb.
My toads are supposed to be blue from Bluestone, but they are more lavender and short.
Yours are great.
Victor, wonderful shots as usual. doesn't seem like we have much color here yet. no real hard frosts.
JoAnne, what a wonderful place to walk. It must seem good to get out. I now appreciate what my NC membership is doing besides the great mag.
Booj, huge congrats and major envy on your Vanda. It would be hard to find that gorgeous color in any other species.
RC, that single maple leaf is wonderful. you should have pressed it.
jen, really great shot.
we must have had a very light frost because the morning glories turned black, but nothing else was touched.
my roses continue. I'll try to give you ones I haven't showed before. A couple of the pics are a little blurry, but then again, so am I. this is 'Ivory Palace', a mini
I finally got out yesterday and repotted my Mandevilla 'Alice duPont' and brought it in. It was just getting so it was blooming nicely. I'm going to try to root some of what I chopped off. I am in love with this plant. Here is the poor thing. I hope it does OK in the house. We have a south-facing sunroom.
Nice roses Grampapa.
