Cant beat the smell.
I have brought them in the house to put on the fire.

Beautiful shots, Shelly! You certainly live in a beautiful area. I love the smell of leaves too. That's one of the reasons I like fall hiking most.

I'll start a new thread.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I like throwing peppercorns onto the fire, though I love the scent of leaves burning, too.

Thanks for the new thread, Victor.

Great pics, Shelly. I especially like the train tracks, the lake, and the country road. You should post in the fall foliage thread. Pretty green eyes on your kitty.

I, too, love the smell of leaves, decaying or burning, either way. Usually the leaves on my lawn get mowed and caught in the grass bag. I put them together with the grass clippings in the compost pile. I checked it today, and it's heating up wonderfully. The combo of the carboniferous leaves and nitrogenous grass clippings make the pile heat up. Other leaves I rake into huge piles to mix with green stuff later, though they decompose quicker if they are chopped up. They make great winter mulch, too.
