Of course!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Yes Dave, so very much appreciated.

Robinson, KS(Zone 5b)

Sounds like I'd better get busy and see what I can come up with. I have looked at some of the past contests and was blown away by some of the entries. SO BEAUTIFUL..

I love the idea that they make a calendar out of the images. What a fantastic idea.

Can't wait to see what everyone enters.

FUN

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Dave, I also wanted to thank you for dedicating the contest to our friend, trois...wonderful memory!

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Just wondering if anyone has notified Trois' grandson, Gabriel of this honor
to Trois. I'm sure the family would be thrilled to hear of this.

This link has contact information for Gabriel.

I Dmailed Trois' daughter, SingingWolf, about this, I guess they should know by now.

Albuquerque, NM(Zone 7a)

Great! This is such a wonderful thing for DG members to do
in Trois' memory and I am glad that Dave agreed to it.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

None of mine compare to the winners either but what the hey!!

Too late for now, but I really think wWildlife and Birds should be seperate catagories.

I wonder which category for wild flowers?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

If it's pics of individual plants or flowers then I'd put them in annuals or perennials depending on what they are, or if it's something like a field full of wildflowers then it would probably fit best in the scenic category.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Have a really really, I'm not sure to call dumb, I get into trouble with that phrase, more to " How do I get the time and date off a photo once it has been down loaded to the hard drive"?

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Only way to do that is crop it out. I use Picasa for all my easy edits, save the edited image and export it into a new folder.
In the mean time, you can turn off the function in your camera for future pictures.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Always love the picture shows, and can't wait for my eyes to be feasted.
And I am supposed to send in a couple though I know the winning chance is slight.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Jianhua ya can't win if you don't play!! LOL I think just having a great site like this to be able to show our photos no matter how god, bad, experienced or inexperienced they are, makes us ALL winners!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is there any way of seeing what we entered last year?? If not, what was the last date we could enter last year's contest? That can help. I might want to enter a fall shot from last year but I honestly don't remember all that I entered!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

The announcement from last year's contest said that the entry deadline was 11/1. Or if you don't mind spending a bit of time, if you click on each category to view the winners, at the very bottom there's a link to view all the entries from that category so you can scroll through and find yours.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks.

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Could I submit my son's photos?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Calif-Sue, I guess I mess up on some photos that would be good, If I crop them not so good. Lesson learned next year I will keep 2 files one with one without. I like to keep track of time and date of plants and things happening. with my busy schedule hard to keep track other wise.
So Sad LOL

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Your camera settings should automatically record the date and camera setting info with each image. I hover my mouse over my images on my computer and it gives me the exact time and date taken, or I right click and go to Properties for all the image info.

Marlton, NJ

Hi Sundownr, It was my understanding that the photos had to be your own.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

OK, thanks pelletory! Maybe I can get him to sign up for DG membership, as suggested by another member. He really does take beautiful pictures that I wish he could share with others.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Depending on how large the time/date stamp is on the photo, you might be able to use a "clone" or "erase" function on your photo editing software to remove it... Is that sort of manipulation permitted? I wouldn't use "clone" to create three butterflies rather than one in the photo, for example, but I'd consider using it to remove a corner of brightly colored (distracting) garden hose from a photo. ?

Right. The rule is that no "obvious" enhancements should be made. Using a tool to slightly change the contrast or remove a watermark is perfectly acceptable.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thank you Critter & Dave, will try that.

Love the contest.
Mary

Fox Island, WA(Zone 8b)

What category do ya'll think ferns would fit under??

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I would say either perinnials or micellanious how ever you spell it. Bev

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Victorgardner, Please scroll to the top, and read instructions. New photos only. If it was entered in last years contest, it can not be entered this year.

The rules:

No obvious photo enhancement allowed
Maximum of two photos per category per person
New photos only - don't enter photos that you entered in previous DG contests

Linda

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Linda, I think he knows that... that's why he was trying to figure out whether he'd entered a particular fall photo last year or not.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, thank you for pointing out the obvious, taters. I'm sure the overwhelming majority of people who read my post, as well as ecrane's response, understood.

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

Oh my gosh! Looking at the previous years entries makes me know for sure that my entries this year have NO chance! What awesome photography! There are some gorgeous pictures there!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

creek, go ahead and take a chance. You never know what people will like. Be brave like me YIKES!!!! BEV

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

And even if your pics don't win, people will still enjoy seeing them!

Benton County, MO(Zone 5a)

Lol! Well, I have already entered them. But I still say they have no chance. :p

Santa Fe, NM

Let's all enter, even if we are intimidated! I like to look at all the pictures.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I must be doing something wrong, don't get it.
Each time I entered my photo limit, I can't go back to another cad. have to start all over. I don't remember doing that last year. Or have I lost my mine. LOL

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

OMG this is so hard. How do I choose only TWO dahlias???? Crappola I should have put the cat in a couple and I could have entered them in the Pets catagory.
