Never heard of that... what? if someone approached they quit chirping?... cause that's what usually happens to me... I get close to finding out where the noise is coming from, and it quits.
♥Sweet Interruption♥ 23
Night night, Laura.
In ancient times they kept them in cricket boxes to hear them sing. I guess if they stopped singing a booger-bear was coming in???? I don't know that's what I've always heard.
The ancient people must have been driven nuts by them... cause this cricket has become the bugger bear... if Don wasn't asleep already, I'd pull the washer out and get em.
Well, they usually die in Sept. Hey, find him a female and he'll shut up.
NO WAY... then I'd have two of them chirping !!!
And I sure can't put up with the whole month of Sept.
Female won't chirp. LOL, and he'll be too busy to. Do you have a radio to play in there?
Got any bug spray?
I sprayed what I could reach... but can't reach behind the washer... it's just a laundry closet... and my arms not long enough... have to pull the washer out to do that.
I know how irritating they can be chipping in the house. Would the dryer being on wake Don? Just wondering if you could dry towel or something. Maybe that noise would make him quit long enough for you to fall asleep.
*sigh*... I'll try anything... thank you... the dryer does lull me to sleep.
Sorry BJ I wish you could send him to me, I have always enjoyed listening to them...
*chirp chirp ...chirp chirp * ROFL
Crickets are popular pets and are considered good luck
singing of crickets in the folklore of Brazil and elsewhere is sometimes taken to be a sign of impending rain, or of a financial windfall
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket_(insect)
WUnderground says it will be a cat 3 by land fall and we will get a tropical storm up by Bj and I now but of course we know that can change
Dh and I watched 2 different channels fo rnews last night and they both said different things as to what it was going to do
Good maaaawwnin'!
Glad you posted that Phyllis. We don't kill a cricket in the house, out of habit I think. My parents were thrilled to have crickets in the house, 'cause they say they'd get some surprise moolah.
So far, so good.. :D
I can't believe there are still some that refused to evacuate. You don't take risks with category 3!!
Sis Kathy, I do hope you are feeling better. Been missing your cheery self.
Have a good day everyone.. I'm off .. bbl!
BJ have the same, all week they've been singing to me..annoying to say the least...this weekend I'll try to find them and relocate them...do be careful with the Ike coming through..take no chances..
Good morning ladies.
That cricket may be a sign of good luck or a windfall or something, but he drove me nuts last night... I finally fell asleep... Don got up at 4am to leave for Lubbock, and I don't know what happened, but the cricket is quiet now... TTL...
That's soooo true... all anybody can do is predict the future. They can't know for sure what's going to happen till it happens. Especially when it comes to hurricanes... the computer models have changed their minds so often as to what IKE is going to do, that it makes me dizzy... but, so far, I'm winning my bet with Don... and, we sure got a lot cleaned up in the yard to get ready for the worse... so, I'm good.
OMG! one of the eggs is peeping! i'm gonna be a mommy! i'm soooo eggcited!
I'd be eggxactly eggxasperated from all this eggcitement Sis!!
Hurray for the little peep's eggxistence!!
WOO HOO.... a miracle is happening at Kathy's house... O Happy Day...
OK-I don't think we would need that much water then-you can always pee in the yard, who needs to bathe, just buy some of the waterless shampoo they sell for camping and a crap load of deoderant and voila-clean as a whistle, clean-what's cleaning?? And as for cooking, well I guess we'd need a smidge for that then..;)LOL
Deb-how is BJ supposed to tell a male from a female cricket?? Chi CHi's or a teeny little "you know"....I guess get out your magnifying glass girl and get to lookin-find him a honey!!
walking on egg shells here. pacing back and forth. SOMEONE HELP ME!!
Oh uyea-more chicks!!
Kathy-please get pics on the critter thread....puuurrty please:) How you feelin?? Did you kick Mike like I asked for overdoing it??
help you birth the chick??
Oh, Kathy... I'd surely be there with you during this painful labor... poor thing...
stacey, will post pics. after baby is born. do you know anything about birthing
Take pics KAthy so we can see it unfold!!
tap on the eg to help crack the shell?? Hell Kathy-I didn't know squat about birds til I met you...
All I've heard is that if you help an egg hatch, the chick will be weak... they have to struggle to be a strong chick... don't help them.
it is saying peep, peep, peep....
LOL... oh, what a sweet sound.
OMG-so exciting-I wish I was there to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My mouse is pacing too... back and forth toward the refresh button...
Tapping my fingers, waiting for pictures.
What kind of chicks?
a silver and gold laced black cochin. oh, i can't sit still. gonna pee myself!
Good thing the bathroom is right next to the birthing room, then... huh?
yep, i gotta go by depends, as this my take awhile
LOL... yea... too bad the computer is so far away from the birthing room... you could actually set up a cam for us all to see it real time.... wouldn't that be a hoot.
That would be so cool
i just sang to it
