Garden Photos - Part 36

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

It's 44 here right now. But it should warm up. The low today is predicted to be 58 LOL

I was out in the garden yesterday and here's all I could come up with

a sad little rebloom on salvia 'May Night'

also reblooming is the 'Lady' lavender. what looks like desert wasteland behind it is my rose garden

I've only seen one flower on this decorative okra all season. It has buds, so I still have hope

Karen, cool mushrooms :0)

Jan (Jan23)...2 Jans on the forum is excellent. I'm actually a Janice but I've gone by Jan for so long I forget. do you have a longer handle?

Victor, I love the gaura. do you get it to overwinter? I know a lot of folks have trouble with it. I gave up.

Allison, the hummers aren't too evil. at least the eye isn't red LOL. more great shots!

Celeste, the hibiscus is pretty. I love the deeper colors we get when the weather turns cool.

onewish - shows how much more I pay attention to the pictures than who is posting them :)

Hi Jan. No - I have no luck at all in getting gaura to make it. I use it as an annual. I tried it on a slope and in a large raised bed and it still did not return.

Allison - yes, better light makes it easier.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the info Victor, maybe I'll take a second look.
It sure is beautiful where you have it.

It's a great plant, Jo Anne. Very airy - moves in the slightest breeze. The common name is wind flower. Perfect for full sun and dry soil.

Thanks Bill.

Jan, nope, not short for anything. Folks figured it would be shortened to Jan anyway so they just cut out a step. They also thought it sounded better as Jan Kristine.

Victor, the "erie" and "michael dodge" look great together. I agree the callicarpa is electric. Oh, I so want a dawn Redwood. And the gaura is nice, too. Since you do it as an annual, do you do seeds or what?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks JK (hee hee). No - so far, when I have used it, I have bought live plants. Only grew them 3 or 4 times over the years. I really do like them and should look into seeds.

Victor - I'm really smitten by the color of your Rozanne. I think that one will have to be added to my HG collection.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

My goodness, miss a few days and it's hard to catch up again. Wonderful shots by all as usual. I cannot get my head wrapped around the idea that it is almost half way through Sept. The chill in the air this am kind of drove home the reality that the growing season is coming to an end soon. I have a few things to plant this fall and a few more to move, peonies and iris mostly. Here are a few things blooming still.

Nice shots, Pat. Very pretty DL. Which is it? Jo Anne - I prefer the pink gaura myself, but the white is also nice.
