Gardening Photos - Part 30
Patti: Scooter is a hosta, which normally I do not let flower, but for some reason I let this one slip by.
I like the way the white pine backed up the Double DL, I think they add an excellent texture to the garden. One thing I like about pines, esp. the white pine, is that they LOVE to be pruned and kept in line! I like to take the cuttings and stick 'em in the ground to grow. Pictured is a spruce I pruned and said "Hey, here's a good spot for a baby pine!!!"
I got my peach just about the same way; truckload sale. However, it was end of the season sale and $9.99. I got lucky! Probably from the same batch! Not happy, as it is 1/2 Red. The "different red" shown above grows in the same pot. Drats! I will separate.
Your hibiscus looks great for not so great a condition, nice recovery!
Thanks, I didn't think of a hosta. I whack most of the flowers off too. Love a few though. Here is a nice lily that I got from Buggy Crazy. Lilium speciosum album which is a according to her. I agree!
"A white Turkscap type with an incredible fragrance and the perfect choice for the shady evening garden. This is one of the easiest species of lilies to grow. FRAGRANT, recurved, pendant blooms in late July-August on 4-5 foot stems, best in afternoon shade to preserve the blooms.
Jaakob wanted me to post a picture of him, as he's jealous I only show off plants and fish!
Here he is surrounded by the patio and pond area.
Jaakob was rescued from the SPCA one year ago, about this time, as my b-day present to myself. He is very needed and has abandonment issues. Other than that, he is the best darned dog ever.
Triple Kwanso, eh? I wondered what it was!!! Thank you, thank you!!!!
Your photos are always really nice, Bev!!
You guys are making me so hungry reading this thread. First food, then plants with food descriptions, and now some oregano to spice it all up. Time to go get a snack!
wow, you folks have been up to a lot today!
Great pics grandpapa... Two of my favorite plants that you have: pardancanda and rosa Hot cocoa (even though it died this year). So, you must have really good taste in plants!!
i love the Double day day lilly Willie... that was tough to say! but true!
that solanum looks like it could defend it'self Bbrook!!
great butterflies dragonfly.
JoAnne your garden looks great. Not thin! It just doesn't look like an old garden yet. They can't all start that way.

Great shots everyone. I gotta get some Autumn Fern....

I have heard of chocolate flower farm before. I really like a lot of the stuff that they have. anybody with the name of chocolate must be good!!!
There are some really different plants there. They are on HG Channel this AM.The only garden program on the channel as far asI can tell.
I do love the Autumn fern. It's new this year from local Wayside Garden store.
I am also waiting for the first "blue" toad lilies to bloom, lots of buds so I hope it makes a good display.

mornin' all, wow! lots of beauties yesterday. who says August is a slow time in the garden?
Patti, thanks for the welcome. I think my invitation to your party got lost in the mail LOL. sounds wonderful! I've never seen a h'bird moth in my garden. love the pics. Your 'Ryanne' looks a little like 'Aubade' that just bloomed for me yesterday'
Robin, I started that same rose-of-sharon (I hope it's that one) from seed this year). love your story.
Willie, that double hibiscus is gorgeous. I've never seen one. and that creamsickle color is one of my favs. thanks for sharing Jaakob with us. that's a great shot of your yard, too. the conifers are wonderful. is your cuban oregano hardy here?
JoAnne, I hope my autumn fern looks like yours someday. I have had it 2 years and it seems to get smaller instead of bigger. sometimes I think I've lost it and then a few weeks later there it is again.
Bev, the Kwanso's are gorgeous. I've found that every garden needs orange.
who did I miss? all the photos are wonderful.
