It's a very nice setting. I am sure a log home there will suit it quite well.

Thanks Willie! LOL

Apologies ... but, I just couldn't resist!

Jaakob is a beauty, WNY----I know about needy--my 2 rescues don't like me out of their sight! Fruit Loops is a winner, Pixie, along with that EE. Love Jewwls of Opar---so delicate, & your speckled rose is lovely, Granpapa. Here is a teeny native aster--not the one that has taken over my garden--this one's a good neighbor!

Thanks, Robin! I think Jaakob has panic attacks when he looses sight of me.

In the pic in the previous post, he got lost sniffing around the yard and is running to find me, but I was hiding behind the plants taking pictures. You can kind of see the scene unfolding in Jaakob's expression. Eyes nervous, ears pulled back ..... Poor puppy.

Other than that, though, he is the happiest-go-lucky dog around. Well, aside from the seizure he had just after I got him ..... which, thank Buddha, has not happened since.

Here is a shot just after he arrived a year ago next week.

very nice everyone.

Hey Jan - Love that helenium. I've been meaning to try my hand at that. It's on my list for 2009 sowing.

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

I have helenium "Helen's Flower" - similar to Jan's but with yellows/oranges.

Geez miss a day and you have A LOT of catching up to do.
Celeste- I love that Harry Grace
Willie what 's the purpose of not letting hostas flower?
JoAnn- I found that Chocolate Flower Farm awhile ago and had to send it to my sister, that's another idea for a themed garden I'll get around to creating.
Sherrie- That's one HUGE ear, what kind of dog is hiding behind you?

Good to "see" you again, Jan.

I agree with you flowerjen. I can't possibly keep track of all of it. Everything is great.

Anita, I love that dahlia. It's a wonderful color. Perfect for this time of year.

grampapa and gabagoo. those are my two favorite types of helenium. and the only year that the short one was as short as they said it would be was the first!

Pixie, dizzy and nymph are both fun and interesting.

Love the dog willie, it's so cute.

I saw this scene as I was driving somewhere at work this evening. I had to stop and take pictures.

thanks Jen. I was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time! I couldn't have planned things to come out like that if I wanted to. My gosh you are up early!!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Still awake I took a long nap Sunday afternoon. I really need to be getting to bed.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

haha..... good. I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one that gets turned around like that. I didn't get off of work until a little after 10pm and I need to be back at 6am. But, I can never go to sleep right after work. But, it won't be no 3 am!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

so, was it at least a good nap?

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you. They wintersow very nicely. From Thompson & Morgan - http://www.tmseeds.com/product/7035.html .

Hi, Jen. thanks for the welcome.

pix, you have wowed me for the umpteenth time! Joan Sr is lovely with the balloon flowers. nice to see the wide shot :0)

redchic, A..mazing!! you have to enter that photo in a contest (here at Dave's, but also somewhere with prize money or something)

schicken, maybe you can hide behind your 'ear' when you see them coming LOL

rained all day yesterday so I don't have anything new to share. but here's a new friend who is spending the summer with us. this is Little Jade. there is another, Ruby, but Jade is the 'owner' of this feeder and Ruby only gets to eat if she sneaks in like a ninja

I didn't show this other helenium because it's not at it's best yet, but as long as we are talking about them. I had this in another spot and it never grew. It stayed about 6" tall. I moved it here last year and this is the result. It was a BOGO, I have the other one in another bed and it's almost 4' tall now. this is 'Red and Gold' and, just like Al's, it is all gold.
