Okay, went back and read a few posts from the past few days. Looked at Jeannine's vacation pics. Looks like you all had fun despite the chilly weather.
I will try to catch up tomorrow and stay caught up for a while. A person misses too much. Have a great weekend all.
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.37
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FORMER SECRET PAL.
I Got my refund from the state so must go to deposite it. I didn't really read much of this morning but the happy birthday, sorry I am so busy and still must go. Just seeing if my secret pal checked in yet to say she received something from me?
Dawn, take that cheque and get yourself a young man with muscles to help you do that landscaping..lol..that's what I'd be doing...
Betty, that's a pretty nifty looking legizmo for you to play with. I love my dremel and actually found a gurl sized electric drill I can handle. I'm thrilled. I long since marked all my hand tools with "HOT PINK" gooey stuff on the handles. My guys just have such issues with pink!! LOL That means my screwdrivers etc stay in the drawer, so I have them when I need them. LOL
Doc, I have all the males in the neighborhood coming to borrow mine..I've more tools than most men can hope for..lol...I just came downstairs to get the instruction book, son Greg just brought me my door (says he might just drop in after snowmobiling tonight to hang it, just have to go out tomorrow for the closures..and delivered copper sheeting for my birdfeeder and birdhouse projects so I'm in for a fun weekend..even did the lead taping on the spoons so if I get ambitious they'll be dragonflies tomorrow...
OMG you know last weekend I did a lot of ziplock bags, put the seeds in paper towels, wet them and then ziplocked them, well you should see already in 1 week what I have..I'll be in trouble because at this rate they'll have flowers before my snow leaves..so any suggestions as to what I might do..
Gita your seeds are doing wonderful as well, and, the sunflowers, well they've germinated about 1" in 1 week..wow...
I see you have lots of goodies, Betty. I did get DH to show me how to use his "grownup" drill, but I have trouble sometimes with my hands, they let go with no warning, so figured this little gurl sized drill will be perfect for my needs.
Btw, guys, I'm collect e-mail addies if anyone is interested in sharing theirs with me, please dmail me. I also have Messenger if you'd like to chat. After all the fooforah I'd like to make sure I can still touch base with my friends just in case things get out of hand for some weird reason.
Lovely here today, DH is out putting the last of the flooring in our new shed and hopefully we'll be able to start getting things out of the garage and into the shed where they belong. I have some porcelain bisque I'd like to chalk if I can get too it eventually. LOL............
Thought I'd come in while I can use the computer..Noah and Kyle are here spending the night..Greg and Melanie off snowmobiling..could be the last weekend..not fussy on them going up the lakes, but, I'm just mom.....
Greg brought me a dozen of daffodiles..always purchases them near April which is Cancer month and with his dad dying of cancer, he never forgets..so that is wonderful..they've not yet opened, but am sure they will within the next few days...
Best of today...overall a wonderful day..of course any day I can get new tools is a good day..and of course getting my new door ...have to pick up handle and lock in the early am tomorrow Greg says he must have it in order to do a proper job..
Worse of the day..of course hearing about a DG friend no longer on Daves Garden
What did I learn..must watch my p's and q's...
Well the boys just got back from getting their treats next door, I've got the popcorn ready so we're ready to party..except of course I'm in my p.j.'s...
What friend is not on DG anymore? Why did I miss some gossip?
Oh my gosh it is like 30 degrees out right now w/the wind chill. What did I tell you, it can be 80 degrees for two weeks and snow the next. All my plants are going to need resuscitation.
I am still needing to see if my secret Pal got her gift and she is not saying so, so I am apprehensive to send the next package because maybe I have the address wrong or something.
Hi all - busy today and I didn't even drag my lazy butt out of bed till after 10!
Decided to work on getting the grass up in my garden where my cobblestones will go. Headed up to Lowes with family and bought 8 bags of mortar, 5 bags of mulch and 2 bags of paver stone. Got 4 full stones made using 3 bags of mortar. Will have to piece some of the stones together to make them blend at the corners.
We also bought a new screened door for our back porch today and DH decided to install a doggie door for Murphy in it. He spent hours redesigning the bottom half of the door so the doggie door would fit and Mr Murphy wanted NO parts of going thru that hole! We tried treats, ice cubes, running around the back yard screaming for him to come out and play, threw aball around and NOTHING would get in thru it! We "pushed" him thru twice at first just to show him how it works and after that when we tried, he looked like a crazed dog with all 4 paws grabbing onto the door as if to say "NOOOOOOO, I won't go!" DH is frustrated and I said maybe we should have installed this about 6 months ago. Not a good comment to make! Anyway, when puppy #2 arrives, we'll get her started on it right away and maybe Murphy will follow her. :)
Well, off to bed now. Will check back in with everyone tomorrow. Night all!
Jeannine
jeannine that is so funny. I remeber teaching our dogs to go through it too and they rebelled as well until I went crawling through it. lol
Morning all, woke up and the house is just freezing, of course I had to play with the thermostat last night...the boys are all cuddled in, going to wake them and take them out for breakfast, pick up new door handles and some wood and hoping to be back by 9:30 so I don't waste my day..
About the serpentine, read the manual (as if that helped) the saw blades are all circular and you can use in any direction so good for arches etc. also blades to cut metal, blades to cut glass..so I don't know..right now it sound confusing..hoping to try it out later...if it does what it says it can do, it will certainly be a handy 'must have' tool...but right now it stays in it's case...lol
I'm off to the races...
morning all,
betty, your new toy looks just wonderful! now you have my curiosity up! im going to have to tell judy about this dragonfly she wil be excited to see this too! bet your spoilling the boys, and did you ever have a busy day at canadian tires how nice to run into so many people.
your daffodiles will look just lovely when they open, greg is so thoughtful. betty, how is sailor doing mine are starting that itching thing again... well have to get ready to mail out windchimes and a sp gift so have a great day.
doc, i read all there was to read on the other matter but where i get confused is was it the one person in question or was there more that caused misty to be removed? oh i loved your neighbor waving im still giggling, is this a big shed your having built? cool pink! isnt that the truth lol it does keep them out of your things.
dawn, your weather is crazy like ours, we had the wonderful sun yesterday, blue skies and by 5.00 it was dark and the rain was here, hope that was all of it, but the craziest thing happened when i got home i opened the garage to hear what sounded like a rototiller on the outside wall i thought why would dh start this now?
came into the living room and saw him on the computer,i said what is that noise? well looked out frount and asked why is the sprinklers on and good greif what is all that water
rolling down the walkway, well with all thease new copper pipes and all..
i guess our pressure is so good now lol !
it cracked open the pipe from the house to the sprinkler boxes..thank god it had just happened, wonder how long we would of ran water before someone noticed :) got a new shut off for it now.
carol, omg that everest rose is beautiful! such a lovely shade
that is the first time i seen that one.
jeannine, omg he is so funny! he will come around it took a week or so to get mine use to it, in fact he was so silly in the begining,
he would walk up to the door stick only the tip of his nose in and wait till we would open the door for him,
so we left him out there whining and barking he finally got it lol oh poor dh must of been beside himself all that work.
ruby, oh sorry to hear, now your sp gift was uplifting how nice it came just at the right time for you.
shar, feeling any better? got all your planting done yet i have to get the rotiller out but i broke one of the blades gosh darn it! dh says his boss can weld it back whew!! simple fix!! well i guess i better get in gear before the big kahuna starts barking lol.
hi vicki, rachel cat,gilli
tropicanna you have been mia hope all is good with you
waving to gita and laura
everyone have a great day
Good morning, y'all. We are starting the day off right!! Up at 4:30 this morning with the Boston's raising holy heck! It's those vicious attack deer wandering thru the back yard. LOL We're not having any of that here!!! I couldn't help but laugh, the dogs are out the door, charging the fence, barking like crazy. The does just sort of looked at them and kept walking....with a look, "and your point is?" The dogs are "strutting" back to the house, with it's ok, Mom. We run em off!
They are so funny, except for the ungodly hour. Even though they're not big dogs I don't doubt for a minute they'd try and take anybody trying to hurt one of us. And they will double team. Absolutely fearless, they think their Rotties.....LOL
I'm hoping we can get some actually gardening in today. I'm still limping with this blasted knee, but I making progress. DH should have the rest of the shed floor in place today. We bought a metal shed-10 x 14 and it's taken some time to get it all together, even with both boys helping. Such language....evidently it had screws, nuts and bolts from hell in the package. Lots of blue clouds out in the back......grin.
I want to "police" the yard a bit. We have some fair sized limbs down around the black walnuts from the last wind storm. Also have a few magnolia bits to get picked up to haul off. We lost one our mature mags in the last bad storm, I was heart sick, but it had been hit by lightening about 3 years ago and I've been babying it hoping I could save it. You could see where the root system was badly burned. I did manage to collect seed from it, so I'm going to try and propagate some. I understand they are very slow growing, but I got some great tips from the Magnolia Society site and I think I can grow them. I have one left and it's doing fine. These are the grandifloras, so they are big guys. I just love the smell. They were here when we bought the property in 79, already fully grown and just lovely. Roses to whoever took the time and effort to plant those, the black walnuts and various apple trees in the yards around here.
Lizrainey, I think there was a lot of background stuff going on with that whole deal. Not what I expect from DG, sigh
I am collecting e-mail addies if you're interested in sharing just d mail me.
As for my tools, I'm married to a diesel mechanic, who has not 1, but 2 BIG boxes, and between he and the boys I was always hunting my household stuff. For many years, he's either worked nights or been on travel, so if I want it fixed, I do it, but I do need the tools to do it with. Just irritated the heck out of me. Just one of those little "life glitchies". Since I've gone "pink" I don't have that problem anymore........grin And the "gel" actually makes it easier on my hands and wrists. I can get a better grip.
Betty, you may have started something. I showed DH the picture of your new toy. We don't have room for many of the big wood working tools, but that might make a nice "present" for him or me for that matter. I can handle his jigsaw, the circular is a bit too much for me. I'll have to look around.
Well DH is finally awake. Let me go fix some breakfast and I'll bbl. Y'all have a wonderful day. :)
Morning everyone. It's sunny here now but we're supposed to get more storms this weekend. At least they will be mostly rain! I've had my fill of nice and sleet for one winter.
I got outdoors a little yesterday afternoon and made the rounds. Seeing what is coming up and what is still sleeping! My frut trees are all starting to bud. Peach tree looks like it's getting ready to bloom! Awfully early! We had a late freeze last year and didn't get one peach!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Doc..thought I'd better warn you, last year I decided I WOULD put up such a shed..well they supply a kit that is metal struts and you have to line them up, screw each and every section, square it off..anyway, I said with patience galore and worked/worked on this framing, nothing worked and after about 20 hrs. I called in the boys...that's where I did learn some few choice words..this was on a long weekend, so Monday morning after they explained what I could have possibly done wrong, everything was dismantled, a trip to Home Depot for wood and within a few hours I had the base ready to do the main shed...I helped Alex, friend of my husband June, we worked side by side, taking coffee breaks and working a few hours here and there and by the following weekend she was up..so have faith, put cotton batting in your ears, stay clear and hope for the best...
This year because of all the snow we've had and the weight load on the roof I"m going to have 2x4's to support the inside more..not taking a chance..so good luck...
Aren't furries loads of fun..especially at that hour..
I can see Jeannine pushing Murphy through the door...lol
Cat, lucky you ..peach tree - yummy..think the only tree I could plant here are apple and perhaps plum but that's about it..
Liz, the boys have now all left, grandma's new door is up and it's only 10:00 am..of course there were about 8 guys over at Greg's waiting for him to go snowmobiling as it probably will be the last weekend so he worked double speed..Kyle helped him, but I have to laugh, Noah has no intention of being handy around the house, much to comfy playing games with his 360 here in their bedroom..man of leisure..went to take his picture and he said 'grandma' I haven't combed my hair yet..now Kyle and I went to town this morning shopping, picked up breakfast at McDonald and he's still in bed...maybe I should give him a big kick in the you know where..told him to come back tonight and grandma would cut his hair...lol...but he says it's cool once it's combed..last year he had a 'mohawk' so from one extreme to the other...
Wanted to take a photo of the door but sun is beaming through and with all the light you can't see the stained glass..maybe later...
Liz, OMG they had a book for gardening at Timbr this morning, I had already paid for my materials and there was a line up otherwise I would have gone back to get it..so many garden art pieces...lots done with copper, but they had this bird feeder..let's see if I can remember part of it...
they had a round metal post in a lg. cooking pot - cemented to hold it..then they had, not sure what it's called but Greg says he has some at work..it's a heavy duty wire mesh type..almost like what you would use to make a sewer cover, I'm not sure, I'll ask him for the proper name..now it was about 2 1/2 ft. long by about 12 or 14" wide and it was welded to the pipe so that it would look like a table top and because of it being a metal grid water would go straight through..they had a plate I would assume glued to it, fork/knife and spoon glued near the plate, a cup set aside (filled with birdseed) cup and saucer, cup filled with water, a little flower arrangement and then a little sign saying 'dinner is served'
Absolutely adorable..will pick up the book when I'm in town next week..
Getting carried away and of course sidetracked (which is unusual)..my mind is going in circles thinking of all the projects I've seen this weekend - which I WANT and then come down here into my craft room and find what...
. 2 gazebo birdfeeders 3/4 done
. 6 spoons already foiled ready to become dragonflies
. my living room window stained glass piece which really
is about 3/4 done
. 3 pieces of wood, primed with black ready for me to
sketch windows for my back shed to make it country..
. inside panel of a bench that I want to redo so I can
create a sitting area next to the country garden I want
at the shed...
. a gourd, ready to drill out the hole so I can paint a bird
feeder scene
. bought another glass drill bit and will look for old
saucers so I can drill them and then glue mason jars
to it so I can make a sitting area that has
candles...
OK OK I know I'm nuts, so up I go, pick a project and see
where it gets me..Dianne is coming tomorrow to work on our unfinished flower floormatt so today's the day to accomplish as much as I can...lol
betty, oh i cant wait to see thease now where did you get the picture for the dragon fly, judy is so excited about this she said to say good morning she is having coffee with the birds now, and having a good time..
Greetings All - Now my interest is up about the person leaving DG. Interesting for sure and has several of you quite upset and fearful of being thrown off for something. I hate that sort of thing is happening here.
Betty, you really make me look bad with all your energy and talent. It has been a rather quiet week for me. No real organizing or anything productive to speak of. I am beginning a weaning off of one my medications and it is leaving me a bit tired. So far, I am not too edgy but imagine that might happen the less medication that I use. I have been on it daily for 4 years, so probably the psychological part of it will be a bit tough. Hope not too bad though. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
Alright, gonna go back again and re-read. There were several people that I wanted to say something to, and have now forgotten. BBL.
Ruby
Okay, remember a bit better now. Hello to all. Starzz, I love the Mt. Everest Rose. What a beautiful flower.
Aha!!!! Rachel, I have received two gifts recently that were post marked Washington State. I just noticed that is where you reside. So.....I am willing to guess that you are my secret pal this go round. Thank you for the lovelies. I will take a picture of the candle holders when I next have my camera out. I now have them sitting on the kitchen table for all to see. I adore the fragrance of the pineapple and pomegranate mix.
Last month for secret pal, Cat send me a very unusual candle too. Everyone who sees it comments on how unusual it is. I can't remember if I posted a pic or not, but will take another one of whenever I am able to take one of new candles too.
The Secret Pal exchange has been lots of fun. Thank you Sharran for the hard work that you have put in to it. I hope that you are feeling much better these days after getting over the flu. You are very lucky to have survived that stuff honey. It has been taking people out like crazy.
Jeannine and Dawn and others, I loved the dog door stories. I hope that Murphy will soon get over his shyness and go on through just like a trooper. I did also like Dawn's solution......a person crawling through to show how it is done. ha-ha Just love it!!!
Cat, so sorry that you may have lost some of your fruit trees. My dad used to own a smallish Peach Orchard very near where I now live. There are probably less thatn about ten trees that are still alive on that tract of land. When I rode by there two days ago, I commented to John about how lovely the pink blooms were. Last night we had a frost here too, so we might have lost some peaches too. I sure hope not, nothing like any sorty of fruit, right off the tree.
I hope that everyone will have a great weekend. Mine is going to be slow and easy.
Ruby
Just came downstairs Ruby, said all was waiting for me to do lol but as with you all of a sudden I'm very, very tired...kept thinking it should be late afternoon, so I've pushed myself off the couch and will try to get something accomplished, however big or small...
Just talked with mom and they are busy/busy..wanted me to come over as she bought me a few treats but not up to it..should though..she couldn't wait, went to Rama last night which is only about 10 miles from her home..said she came out a winner $1,300.00 she's so lucky, said she'll stop going when she stops winning...so she and Jim made a trip to Home Depot in Orillia and bought some wooden shades for their windows...her entire front room and side of house is all glass about 16' high plus skylights so she says that these might keep some of the summer sunshine out because the house is always like an oven..she's very much a frilly person, drapes upon drapes etc. - little behind the times and Jim just hates them so lets hope she can adjust to a more clean cut look...look who's talking..I've also decided to change the look somewhat once I get myself organized with the work that needs done inside..
Well, I'm a thinking that I'd better get moving, coming down here after sitting on the couch most of the morning and now sitting in this chair will in no way accomplish anything..but I am tired....
SO off I go..
Sunshine but frigit temps..it's a start..
glad many of you can enjoy an outside garden day...
Since no one is posting, I hope that means you are all having a great weekend.
I am feeling much better, thanks for those who d mailed and asked....I still don't have a bunch of energy, so am taking it pretty easy.
Here is the chair I finally finished. The fabric is a sort of fake suede, really comfortable.
Betty....no wonder you are so tired, you never stop! Sometimes that is something we have trouble doing, I know.....
so here is the chair....
Shar, looks like a 'queen' should be sitting in it..very regal..now is it for you?
Been playing, lordy don't let anyone tell you you can make a gazebo birdhouse in a morning..yes, the main frame but NOT all the finishing touches..trying to get mine done (mom's is for Mothers' day so still have time for hers) so that I can get it painted tomorrow..
Although it seems I using every tool in the house I'm not, so took a few minutes out, put the router bit in the serpentine saw and it worked like a charm..however, no small circular blades for fine cuts so not sure if it's something I should have bought..because they gave quite an extensive kit with it I thought I'd have one..now regular saw blades looks just like drill bit..so think it will do wonders, perhaps not just the wonders I wanted to do 'today'
Trying to get everything caught up so I can participate in the 8pm lights out for 'earth'..gee whiz, I'll probably be sleeping by 8pm anyway...
So better go finish my project, clean up the dust and tools and go upstairs and read my new gardening book...
Shar, sure hope you didn't overdo...
Laura, haven't seen you post - hope everythings ok...
Busy lady!!
Yes, the chair is mine. It was a chair that my mother had when I was growing up. It has traveled a long way. Originally it was a deep turquoise or maybe azure blue. Then it was done in a sort of flower tapestry. Then it was what I call a puke green.....now it is exactly what I wanted, so maybe it will stay this way for awhile.
Ruby, you got it! Glad that you are enjoying the candles and holders.
Sharon, the chair looks great! So soft and comfy and a beautiful as well. Did you make the pillow?
Betty, you are allowed to slow down and breathe my dear! It really is o.k. to just sit and enjoy your beautiful home :0)
Spent the day with my folks and went to some great garage sales! Hugs, Rachel
Doc that is so hysterical, my dogs are like that too. I'm rolling on the pink tools, that would keep most men out, but Greg, if he liked the tool, he'd take it. He has a secret body part that I haven't seen yet, I'm sure of it or a boyfriend somewhere.
Lizard, I wish the rain would come, in this valley all it did was make it windy as usual and somewhat freezing last night, but today was just hot and windy and still is. They said we were ahead on rain fall a couple months ago and now we are behind again. I am so sick & tired of this drought stuff.
Ok I will suprize you all, despite my bellyaching over the desert, I promised that if we had adequet rain and cold in Dec. & Jan. I'd show you what we love about here, most years.
I'm sure it will be just for show..my cousin Doug told me I could have 2 beautiful antique chairs that he has up on the island, gave them to me late summer and then with not having a road and the extreme winter he's not been able to get them down, he reminded me a few weeks ago that he had not forgotten..think if memory serves me right I can un-screw the back and the seat and recover..if that's the way it is, I'll also redo the woodwork...
I'm not really a fan of green either and yet I say that and my chesterfield upstairs is a light blue green and then the wallpaper has the same color as well, so not sure what's up with that..must have chosen it on a down day..lol..
Cleaned up my craft room, well nearly all..tools put away, floor swept...I'll sand the feeder down in the morning before Dianne arrives for painting and perhaps get a coat or two of white..
I've a few photo's of my day and then it's bath and bedtime..
Greg showing Kyle the steps of installing a door...
Wow Dawn, that's beautiful..now is the photo taken nearby your home..don't know why, but I picture you living in a major metropolis..am I correct??? or are you a country girl like myself...colors are spectacular...guess regardless of where we live we encounter difficulties with the weather...I'm going to coax Mother Nature tonight by joining the zillions who are shutting their lights off for an hour at 8pm..maybe if she sees I'm trying she'll make her real appearance shortly...
Here's Noah, while Greg/Kyle are working well, he's just a man of leisure..sure does need a haircut..my thoughts not his..
Here are a few more, some won't download, having a problem for some reason today. Betty I live out about 5 miles from the town of Rosamond and it is a little Bedroom community with one chain grocery store and several gas stations and about 5 chain resteraunts for fast food including Subway and Dominos. We live about 15 minutes from the bigger city though, but it is no Los Angeles there either.
These pix are probably the same place you have ever seen California Poppy pictures taken and I took them today just for you guys, it was about 15 minutes away.
Day Two: Doggie Door boot camp! DH decided to build a small platform on the outside of the door because it is a big drop when coming out of the doggie door so he figured maybe Murphy is afraid of the distance. I hit the yard early and decided to work on my cobblestones again. Left Murphy on the porch with the doggie door flap up and all he did was bark, bark, bark! Ran around the yard like a complete idiot and called him and kicked the ball and threw the frisbie and all he did was bark, bark, bark! DH finally decided to plat football in the yard with DS cause Murphy goes completely balistic - but all he did was bark, whine and whine somemore. DH said the only other thing I can think of is his "girlfriend" Savannah Jane from down the street so I called down there and using Murphy's "voice" ask Savannah to come down and play and help me learn to use the doggie door.
Well 20 mins later, Savannah's mom called and they were on their way. So we put Murphy on the porch and when Savannah got in the yard he whined and whined and whined - but stayed on the porch. Then Savannah saw him and she FLEW through the doggie door I'm sure not touching any of the sides! They said their hellos and then She was like, 'hey, I want to play' so she flew back out the doggie door and Murphy no more paid attention to a doggie door being there and flew out it too! We cheered him on! So we played a little game and put his lease on and since Savannah had no probs going thru we coaxed her with a treat and then Murphy - the person on the other side of the door grabbed the leash and "led' him thru! It worked!!!! He went back and forth and back and forth with no problems. We even put the flap down and he followed Savannah out.
So Savannah leaves after an hour and we put Murphy back on the porch and he just stays there. ARGH! DH sat on the deck coaxing him and he'd stick his head out and just stand there. So since I was in my garden and Murphy goes crazy for dirt clods, I tossed a few towards him and he finally came thru the door - for dirt clods! He has actually done great with it since then. He tip toes thru it when the flap is down but will go thru if we are on the other side. So we'll keep working with him so he will feel comfortable going thru it even when no one else is around. DH was just so excited. He thought he'd spent all this time and money on the door and Murphy wouldn't use it. I said "Ye of little faith"!
Anyway, got 3 more bags of mortar mixed and 4 stones down. Did I mention on my post last night that I have taken some of my herbs like lavender and rosemary and pressed them into some of the stones? I did a piece of fennel today and it looks awesome. I'll have to take a picture of it once it's all cured. So I have 4 bags left and that will probably finish off the stones going around my center herb garden. Next I will try and do the paths out from the center to each corner. I think I'm just going to lay crushed paver stones all along the outer sides because they are too narrow for the cobblestones. Hopefully, I can get the rest done tomorrow.
WHEW!
Dawn, beautiful landscape! Such vibrant colors!
OK, off to bed for me!!
I'll chat with ya again tomorrow! Hugs to all!
Jeannine
This is Murphy's girlfriend, Savannah
Yes great story. Love it and she is a cutie too, no wonder he took off out the door. So adorable they are.
Great photos, Dawn! Poppies??
GG, what a delightful story! You could write a book about Murphy. I am glad he learned to use the doggy door, I was afraid your husband would go into a decline if he didn't,. Cute girlfriend, too.
I can't wait to see pictures of your stones....all your flower beds. It is still a bit chilly here.
He to the rest of you. Rachie, good to see you back. I hope you all had a good day, and Ruby good wishes to you concerning the meds. That is a difficult thing to do.
Betty....be well!
Hugs.
Thanks Sharron for meds wishes. Yep, due to a condition that in the past has caused some quite miserable pain issues for long periods of time, I have had to "kick" some really high powered narcotics on quite a few occasions. This medication is not a narcotic and should be easier to come off of, but like the doctor said, most of it will be pschological. I am weaning slowly versus stopping cold turkey, so that might help things too.
I have been surprised that I have had the energy the past five or so days. That is usually what gets to me the most, the lack of energy that some of meds seemed to help with. I will be okay, I am sure. I too love your chair, beautiful pleats and things. The great pillow looks wonderful with it.
Betty, I am with the others who are giving you permission to slow down. You go like a maniac. You do more most days than I do in a week. It is okay to rest from time to time.
Thanks for the poppy pictures dawn and the Murphy door story Jeannine. Hello and have a great day to all others.
Ruby
Morning everyone, another day, sunny one they say..well I made it through my 1 hr. of darkness and Dawn, did what Greg did, took a nap..woke up when girlfriend in Ireland called me at 10:30 (she'd been bar hoping with visiting friend) lol and just had to call me so we gabbed and then off to bed I went..about 1:30 am I so wanted to get up as I could not longer sleep, tossed/turned and finally fell back into a deep sleep but up again at 5:30 am..so I'm up for the day..just sanded my gazebo and now looking for paint..will it be white or bright yellow??? Not a lot of the neighbors did the lights off for 'Darkness Earth' in fact, one of the neighbors who really is quite the gossip monger had every light in his house on, and for him that's rare, usually there is only a light or so, guess he was making a statement..Cliff and Bernice had theirs off though...
Dawn, it must be spectacular to be travelling with such a vision each day..does it last for a few weeks or do you get to enjoy the beauty for most of the summer..was looking at the soil, looks quite dry to house such delicate flowers... your town sounds much like Midland which is about 10 minutes away...nice, because you get to meet your neighbor versus the city..
Ruby, sometimes getting off meds cold turkey or even gradually can cause so many other side effects..you be very cautious and if not feeling as you think you should off to the doctors...it's been 60 yrs. of go/go/go lol so I don't think I'm going to slow down at this stage, one day the good Lord will quiet me down ...
Shar, how did your night go, sleep well, you also must be tired..all the rose bushes planted? maybe today will be a warmer day for you and you'll be able to play outside..what's next on the articles you are writting? Hope it's for Daves Garden...
Saw a few shows on gardening, think they are new series, already forgot the name of them but one had a Master gardener (Mike) and the other showed exception garden throughout the world..so must be on the lookout..for that I sat still and watched...
Jeannine, loved you story on Murphy..amazing what males will do to gain points with their female friends...
Now if you keep doing your cobblestone walkway there will be no room for grass, lol, or is that your intent..putting your favorite flowers into the mixture sounds unique...yesterday in looking at my gardening magazines I saw a cute idea..they have pavers that are cement but are formed in 16" x 24" long, with diamond shape openings throughout..they were made for a walkway..once planted each diamond is filled with sod..they had 2 put side by side to make a 32" width for the walkway..then you can run the mower over them and you have a lovely criss-cross hatched type walkway..I'll take a photo and post...
Liz, hope you will get to enjoy your day, no in-laws just a fun outside day..
Gita, your seeds are doing wonderfully..no so much the ones I planted in the round pods, but ziplock bags certainly is the way to go...you can even see the water beads throughout each bag..guess it creates prime growing conditions..
Judy, well she's enjoying her first trip to the cottage..bet she's thrilled with all the work that Steve did throughout the winter..she does enjoy her nature outings..
Carol, do you have low laying areas where you are..know here in Coldwater and Washago they are calling for flood alert if we get the temps they are calling for tomorrow and Tuesday..let's hope not...because the majority of my back garden is about 5 steps up I can just see all that snow melting and coming into my basement..will certainly have to keep an eye out (and an ear for the water alarm I had installed)..a lot of damage can happen while I'm at work..but not to worry I've 2 sump pumps, the water alarm so I've done all I can possibly do, now it's up to Mother Nature...
I'm off to play...
Betty, so far I am experiencing a bit of headache. That hasn't happened for a good while. I suffered horribly for years with headaches so I become a big anxious whenever my head starts to hurt. Hopefully it will go away with my next cup of coffee. I plan to take it easy today after I do regular chores of dishes and laundry.
I see the doctor tomorrow. He made a calendar for me last week about how to do the taper. I hope that I will be able to stick to it and that soon I will be having a lot more money in my pocket at the end of the month. This particular medication is very costly.
Anyway, thanks for caring. I will be okay.
Ruby
Morning girls..
I have enjoyed catching up with all your posts and phtos.
Great job on the chair Sharon. The colourful pillow accents it well.
Betty..I have a lot of snow yet to melt..and I will be watching..not so much as you though.
I shut the lights off for Earth Hour too. I read a book by a solar light..I bought a new one recently..a spotlight type..so I used it as a flashlight. I was disapointed in the area that it lights though. I had hoped it would light a tree..it only lights an area the size of a large dinner plate.
Gardengirl..loved the story of Murphy and the door..could just imagine the antics.
Dawn that field of poppies is lovely..
I have a few seeds up..some asters..they really germinated quickly. ..some MG's..and some Cherry express tomato plants..a large cherry tomato. I planted some nastursium seeds yesterday..and have soem Thunbergia seeds soakin..I was thrilled with a Thunbergia plant I bought last year..and would love to have a few this year. I hope I can grow them.
Rachel..I was seaching for something on DG and came across your Work weekend on March 8th. What fun that must have been. It is in the PNW forum. ....so nice to have all that new area to plant...and the fun of having so many helpers.
Ruby..hope you feel better soon..
Well I better say bye for now..
Cheers,
Carol
