We got home safely, snow is starting to die down, perhaps not the snow but the winds are settling down..
Had my bath, hot chocolate, in my p.j.'s ready to win the $3,000 jackpot and watch off and on Dancing with the stars..not that enthused with this participants this season..
Just had a call from Jeff, he knew sending out the letter would upset me, he's having supper tonight with Colin (lawyer) BIL Paul (my boss) Robert Distefano (mortgage broker for our firm) so he'll talk to Colin with regards to the steps that must be taken and that he would look after everything..he's right when he says he knew I'd be upset because I'd rather drop this entire situation than proceed and have the procedure get to me...not worth the $$$$ but Jeff's different, he says it's a matter of principal!
Ruby good luck with the seeds, am sure because they came from your secret pal, its' seedlings will be more precious to you..
Wow Gita, you sure have a green thumb, look at those plants..you'll have tomatoes/flowers on them before you even get to plant them..lol you've quite the set up..on Saturday when I was at home depot I notice they had a shelving unit such as yours..bought one years ago for my dad, guess when he passed on all his gardening equipment went bye/bye...should get another one..
Judy, bet Smitty hadn't a clue that you missed him and watched for him all these years..isn't it funny how someone passes through your life and you never forget what they bring into your life..how wonderful for you both to have gotten together...imagine..going to Calf. for a race..
Well, I'd better go get myself organized..lets hope I don't get too comfy and fall asleep as I've done in the past..Jeff said he'd call me later tonight so maybe his call will wake me up..
Just incase I'd better do my post...
Best of today..calling mom at the cottage, they got back from Florida yesterday and headed straight for the cottage...lol..say it's a winter wonderland there tonight...already she's wondering when spring will arive so she can play in her garden and have Charlene and I come do her pond...she's worse than I am for always doing something..funny I've not heard from Aunt Muriel yet, they drove straight through - 26hrs. so can imagine she's resting..she only lives about 3 miles from me, so perhaps Thursday night I'll drop in..can't tomorrow night as I've classes...
Worse..dealing with legal issues
What did I learn..at the drop of a needle, memories can come flooding back..best not go there!
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.37
Wow Gita, you know your stuff..very interesting..not sure that we'd have that kind of tomato seed..good luck, they sound as though they are heirloom plants..correct...
Well off I go..talk later..
Good evening,
You ladies are having a good time with your winter sowing! Gita, very nice set up you have, I am glad you got it up and running as you want it to be! And look at your success. Ves, very cool you also have a greenhouse. and are doing well with the tomato plants. Betty, I sure hope you will have some luck as well, as you learn it will become second nature. One day...far off in my dreams I shall have one as well. Speaking of which I hope GG' s is doing fine while she is gone.
I am the same way...as far as venturing off on other threads, well I am always afraid I might say the wrong thing or give bad advise. Sometime I feel like I should just lurk, LOL. Ves i agree, you have to ask questions in order to get to know people.
Carol, oh gosh, Dana is so pretty with her birthday present. heheh, I just realized who Hanna Montana is, seen her on Operah late night! She is very talanted young lady. and Happy Birthday to Dana!
Liz, Well now that certainly was not a very nice thing to say, sometimes MIL's don't think...LOL I know my says whatever she sees fit. But I get use to her ways...Gotta love her.
Dawn, you sparked a love of mine and that is riding. We have a 750 Kowaski...heavy sigh, it's been down for a while..DH getting fixed up tho and we will go for a ride. Nice Bikes you have, miss my scoot...OK NO laughing but it was a 75 cc Honda passport...LOL all I could afford and handle (was about 100 lbs myself at the time) but hey I had wheels!
Ahhh, the willow tree, A graceful and stunning Beauty of Nature. We actually have one, up at the Wisconsin house! I love it.
Ruby, a very nice Card and quote you received from SP...and oh so very true too.
Betty, so glad you got home safely, relaxed.
Yep my friend, LOL said well look who I found!! Was just wonderful to see he is still around. Wow, heck of a ride straight through. Glad they are home safe and sound, you will have a nice visit!
Well tonight I was home fairly early, so walked about the gardens and took mentle note: Sooo much clean up to do, will have to buy some new gloves!
See you in a little while.
morning all,
vicki, lol if he dosnt resume the gardners ... guess he will be trimming and mowing!
i like the idea of the bird feeder dh made for you what a nice way to watch them up close
im sure you'll come up with something :)
4 days off as soon as we get help thats what i want to do!!
good luck with the load omg you should see the junk we got! the warehouse was told to clean out the warehouse, so it was distributed amounst the stores, last year deals and xmas sets just awful!
oh and speaking of help( the new one) they looked at her doctor release and they are making her come back on friday.. guess her crooked doctor didnt right up her note properly..
can you imagine, i would have to permantly move to a cave, i would be so embarassed.
carol, she is so cute and look how excited she is to, how nice to have found a tee with her favorite, i hear alot of people have the best time shopping at kohl's we have one but its near san francisco always to busy to go. sounds like your getting ready for spring.
ruby, what a wonderful note and seeds your sp sent.
gita, very nice! i like your set up for seedlings.
judy, how nice to meet up with smitty and catch up, bet that really made your day,
so when is the yard cleaning party?
betty, wow i hope all does get resolved with bill, sorry you had to rehash all those mixed feelings but jeff will see to it you get what is owed to you! that was a terrible thing he did to you, you didnt deserve that.
hope your tummy is better, did suzanne mention anything again on what the reverse driving was all about? how is the bird feeder comming along? i showed dh but now he has some idea on a victorian style so i let him come up with his design and see what it is about.
shar, what are you up to? working in the yard and enjoying the warm weather?
laura, hope your doing good enjoying your time off.
hey gilli, what are you up to?
hi cat, tropicanna
hi jeannine, you should be back today hope you had a nice time off.
Morning all,
I went outside to get the newspaper this moring and it seems almost balmy..LOL 1c....34 f.
Betty I was thinking of your drive home last evening when it was storming. How wonderful that soon you will have a shorter drive..just to Barrie. It would be nice to meet halfway sometime..when the weather is better...on a nice sunny day.
I can understand your feelings about your legal problem..best to just let the lawyer and Jeff handle things...but it is not easy to put one's mind to rest..it all swirls around at times..
Judy..what a wonderful happy story about meeting up with your old friend.
Dawn..I can just picture you and Greg going off riding on your bikes..wind in your hair..what freedom it must be. While I was away I noticed a lot of older/mature couples that ride on Harleys together. The weather in SC is right for the investment in a bike. I have only been for one motorcycle ride in my life..it was exhilarating..but scary too.
Gita..what a great set up you have..I have lights in the basement to overwinter my plants..but for starting seeds it seems so cold down there..So I am getting them started up stairs in the window and then will put them under the lights when they germinate. Is the trick to stop legginess keeping the lights really close to the seedlings. What a great story about the Mortgage Lifter tomato.
Ves..do you order the special tomato seeds from a seed company? I read about Stupice on the Tomato forum last year. Have you ever saved any seeds form a tomato you grew?
I've been watching my calories since I came home from vacation. I have knocked off two pounds in a week. Need to get in shape for gardening LOL I piled on 10 pounds over the winter since I quit smoking last Oct.
The birds are quite active this morning..probably angry with the squirrels for eating all their seed. LOL
I bought another suet cake yesterday when I was shopping. The woodpeckers seem to really enjoy it.
Well I better get to my e-mail now..
Have a great day everyone.
Cheers,
Carol
Hi Liz,
We cross posted..
Love your stories about the work world..and the ongoing saga of the "bad employee"
Makes me thankful to be retired.
Carol lots of birds enjoy the suet. I see all kinds on mine. Just love to watch the birds and listen to them. It's funny how quiet they are all winter and then it is like someone flipped the switch and there is all kinds of birds talking out there! I order my seeds from all over. Some were from last year. One of the cherry tomatoes was free. I have never saved any tomato seeds but might this year and see what happens. I loved the stupice it is sweet and a smaller tomatoe. Not a big producer so will be planting more then 1 this year.
Yes LIz if I were her I'd be in a cave also! gez! We finally got to mark down some of the toys we got at Xmas. We had tons left. Also can't believe some of the junk they send us. Do they think people are that stupid?
Judy how wonderful to run into your friend. Isn't it nice to pick up like you'd been seeing them everyday?
I have to go. Lots to do before I go to work today.
These were blooming in the GH.
Hope you have the day you need.
ok betty did you win the 3000.00?
Nope, no bucks for me, infact on one card they called about 11 numbers before I even got one in the right area for the letter '7'..but if I don't play then I can't win..think I'd have taken a 2 week vacation and visit most of you for tea...but no go, so put that kettle away..lol..might have enough in my wallet to visit Carol thought..
Liz, the same dimensions could be used but instead of making the top arch cut straight lines and you could make little victorian gingerbread designs..had though of that myself..might have done so IF my scroll saw had been working..Greg has it at a dealer..if it's over $200.00 for repairs I might as well put another $300 towards it and save the old one for parts..
Vicki I was telling Suzanne's hubby Lenny this morning that even though I cannot get the birdfeeders in their rightful place on 4x4's right now that perhaps I could just set them out and fill with goodies but he felt they should only be fed in winter and right now there should be enough to keep them going..but I think I'll do it anyway, musn't be a lot out there for them to eat..
I just might purchase myself a 'patio tomato' plant as I'm on my own and planting a garden is just too much..might take the old deck fencing and grow cucumbers more upwards than on the ground planting and see what happens...
Betty I feed year round but not as heavy in the summer. Your vegie garden sounds great. It will work. I do alot of vegies in planters. Have even done cukes that way.
One of these days, as a way to fill my day in here at work, think I'll sketch out my backyard and put all the features I have in graph format and try to plan what I want done..I have one of those metal little shed and last night I got this brilliant idea..I love painting trompe l'oeil (realism for non painters..lol) and I thought ok if I was to paint 2 pieces of 1/4" wood and paint it too look as though one is looking through a window from the outside to inside, even with curtains, perhaps flower pots with geraniums etc. then primitively frame it with pine and a piece of plexi glass over it then just under the window put planters..wouldn't this look adorable and country...put that on my to-do list right???lol
Edited to read:
There is a gas station not far from where I live that has an upper floor which was all done in cement blocks and painted..to give it a look of an old country store the did the large windows on the top, even a kittie sitting at one of them, such an appealing view..
You know what I just might do this weekend for you, our little town of Midland, about 5 miles from my home is known for murals on many of the stores, infact you can take tours..i.e. if it is a butcher store, then the scene on the outside depicts a butcher serving behind the counter..if they sell paint, then it's an artist using paint supply, a car dealer has an entire wall painted with antique vehicles, even our grain elevator which is hundreds of feet high has 'courreur de bois' on it..french term for the first french people traavelling the waterway in canoe etc. etc. so, will take photo of both the gas station and town murals to show you all...

Betty,
If you went to the Tomato Forum, this time of year I am sure you could find someone that has heirloom seeds. There are SO many--and--Carolyn is the GURU of all tomatoes. If she says something--it IS SO!
My Tomato seedlings are now growing so fast! They are almost 4" tall. Have to pot up into 4" pots......AND---remember, you can bury the whole tomato stem underground when re-potting--all the way up to the true leaves!
Not today. Have to go in to work at 3PM. Tomorrow, I have a free day....
Seed--I don't have a greenhouse!!!! Where did you get that notion? It is just he shelves and the 3' shop light......Before the seeds sprouted, I had the trays, covered in plastic, on the very bottom shelf which sits just above a heat vent in the floor. I think it worked almost like a heat mat.
starzz---YES! the lights need to be 1"-2" above the seedlings. Then move them 1" higher when they grow. You don't want the seedlings touching the light, though, as they are warm.....
Talking about bird-feeding......
I hung a suet cake cage (holds 4 cakes) from my tree. Well, the squirrels discovered it and ate through the 4 cakes in a matter of days to get to the few Sunflower seeds in there. The fat all was crumbled to the ground in a pile.....What a waste!
Gita
HI,
Excitement is brewing once again. Ahhh Spring and the feeding of birds and critters. Ves, I love how Dh made the feeder holder. My Papa Jack always had feeders attached to his window. Just wonderful to watch from your sitting room.
I think i need to build a metal one like you have! Yesterday morning I filled up one of the feeders, Moved it's location to a shepherds hook so Squirrels wouldn't hog the seed, brilliant idea I thought. So guess what, the Raccoons some how got to it instead!! I don't know how the heck they did, must have figured out to stand one eachothers shoulders or something. The entire feeder was empty this morning!!
GITA!! I was not referring to your Green house. I was trying to pay you a compliment on your seedling set up! shelves, lighting, etc. The greenhouses I was referring to Ves's greenhouse and the one Betty is trying to create.
and now that i think about it...Your whole house IS a greenhouse! Look at all your plants and seedlings. who cares if they are growing in what one calls a greenhouse the fact is you are still growing plants are you not...Whatever i am not going to argue over a compliment...Why can't you just say thanks.
Betty, What a nice way to fill up your day. I have a "blueprint" of my gardens..LOL have to update it, but I created it out of clear blue sky, while sitting for jury duty, killed the waiting process and was so much fun to do...I will be excited to see your sketch when you are done.
hope you all have a good day...Got to go for a break.
Seed--------Thanks!
Well I've sized out my design, will do 2 faux windows with lanterns, flower pots etc. and on the outside install 2 window boxes which I think I have..then ontop I will put a sign saying Bessie Maries Haven, then to each side I'll put aged wood fencing..in front of the 2 windows on the ground I'll make flower beds/ along side of the building will add plastic roll lattice to have climbers and I'll use Jeannine's recipe for cobblestone walkway..I've a garden bench I've made that has an insert..needs new panel and then an old table chair set I bought at a garage sale that can go the opposite side and also my birdfeeders so I've everything organized even to the point of being able to go purchase the wood for the windows so I can start painting...I'm just so excited..
Betty,
Please post before, during and after photos!
will do, will post work in progress because with almost 5' of snow back there and my only being 4'11 1/12ths high, I could get lost and nobody would find me until spring! lol
I was out playing with Ty and walking around earlier and there are so many bare patches. Still have plenty of snow but the ground was so nice to see!
Your Welcome.
Oh my gosh so cute Betty! We wouldn't want to loose you in the snow drifts.
Yes, I am looking forward to seeing your masterpiece. Don't you just love when an idea like your blossoms?
Hi Rachel! How have you been? I hope all is well with you.
Oh my forgot to tell you, I have tulips and yellow hycynths..(at least I think they are) and the Daffidoils coming up!! yay...finally seeing spring come alive.
Ves, so nice to see. What kind of flower is that you shared in your greenhouse?
is it a perrenial? Very pretty.
Liz, oh golly, it amazes me at some of things people dream up. Geesh. Well yard work will begin next week, buying some new gloves today. I might even take a rake to front yard today get all the old and sprinkle some seed so it can start early sun...One the trees bloom, it will be all shade.
Oh, and have you ever heard of upside down tomato plants?? They are pretty cool, you grow them in a plant hanger. might even try one this year.
off for lunch see you later.
hello!!
Im back and had a lovely time. didnt want to come home in some ways but its all good.
had all the family there at one time or another so that was great. My GD called the house 'nini's special house'. she loved it and didnt want to go home.
hopefully we can go back next year at the same time.
did you all have a good easter?
I see your all getting ready to plant and such. our trees are starting to turn now and the weather is cooling.
woke this morning with a sore throat... yuk.
Betty you sound to me as tho you are lactose intolerant. i am so i know the symptoms. take care
hello to all!
xx
I finally had a chance to check in and realized that the last time I was even on DG was on the 22nd. I've been helping a friend pack for the past couple of days so I've been out of the house a lot for that. We had a great Easter weekend. I got together with some of the teachers where DH works for a potluck Easter dinner on Friday. Most of them are single so it was really nice to get together. I left DH home with the kids and had a great time. I also started some seeds that afternoon. It may be a little early for when I'll be able to get them outdoors but the growing season is so short here so I'm trying to push things. I'm still in the trial and error stage of gardening.
Saturday morning I decorated eggs with the kids then in the evening I went to a sewing circle and started making my first pair of moccassin slippers. I'm so excited. I had bought some hide a few months ago so it's nice that I've found someone to show me what to do. One of my friends also gave me a pair of wrap-around moccassins that she made for Ella. They are so beautiful and Ella loves them. She was wearing them earlier today and I took them off so I could take her tights off then she brought them to me so I could put them back on her.
Sunday morning (after our egg hunt at home) I dropped by a friend's house and make a few Ukranian Easter eggs. Then after church in the afternoon we went over to another friend's for our Easter dinner. He cooked up some caribou and some moose that he had and we took dessert. It was my first time having caribou so that was really cool.
Monday, I decided that our living room furniture needed to be rearranged and I really do like it much better. I still need to finish up the rearrangement but there's no rush for that.
Now I'm finally relaxing. For the rest of this week I'll be in our basement trying to create some order. Helping my friend pack has helped me realize again that I have too much stuff and I need to get rid of it.
It's been so nice reading about everyone's plans for their gardens. I wish I could respond more individually. This will have to do for now though.
gillian I missed you. glad your holiday was good.
I love all your seedlings. I have not been the only busy I see. I am so mad. I planted some seeds in ground already and all the seedlings for the wild flowers came up a few days ago and today birds came and picked them out and also my grass plugs where the dang gopher tore up my lawn. I am so MAD. I have shade cloth and will have to cut into it and cover up the little seeds until they are a little girthy.
For all the work you would be surprised at how my yard is far from fantastic, but with this place I had to break down projects for each year and then I see a little progress. When I tried to do all things to the whole property, I just wated years killing weeds and crabgrass and watching my plants get eaten by gophers etc.
I have to look at the big picture and make it small, or I will cry and give up or just move. It will not beat me I say.
Judy I am so happy about your old man friend, I am like that too, old people and me just have a thing. I don't know why but I have always befriended old people since I was very young. When I met my MIL, she hated me and it bothered me, I used to tell Greg, Old people love me, why does she hate me.
She got alzheimers and I spent a lot of time with her and she ended up loving me and myself and Greg were the only ones she almost always remembered until the end.
You should get the bike fixed, it is such a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful day and be together seeing and smelling it and not having to say a word.
Dawn, I can just see you out there with those critters...sorry to hear about your seedling..just laughed reading "it will not beat me I say" knowing your love for animals you are probably feeding that critter and the birds as well...
Everyone just left, so now it's off to bed, early morning, but the good thing is Friday I'm off, booked my appt. for as early as I could 8am and the car for 7:30 am..so will still have the better part of the day...
So I'm tired, going to turn in..
Best/worse and what did I learn..so very hard to comment on this tonight as I was in my office most of the day on my own, napped a bit on the way home, girls were all busy painting so nothing too exciting happening to make it a best or a worse and can't think of anything I learnt...lol..boring/boring!
Sorry I have been MIA, but I am still here, waiting to hear more Secret Pal stories.....
I have been trying to reupholster a chair, and that is time consuming to get it like I want it.
and i have also been planting roses.......but today I had some kind of allergic reaction to something and spent the afternoon in the hospital being IV-ed steroids, benadryl and fluids because of dehydration. something else was in the IV, can't remember what. Anyway usually I am only allergic to things with red dye, but this time I had not even had anything except coffee earlier.
Ah well, never a dull moment.
So tonight I am OK, been working on articles, and not moving around a lot.
I have enjoyed reading all that you have written, too much to respond to, but Gita you have your plants so organized, I am so impressed.
Starzz....I missed you and am so glad you are back with us. Lovely photos, tell your granddaughter that Hannah Montana's daddy grew up about 40 miles from where I grew up, whole different generation, though. They do come back there sometimes to visit. They lived in Nashville for awhile, which is also closeby, but now I am not sure where they live, wherever her show and talent take them, I guess. They are a nice family, though, as far as I know.
Betty.....hope friday gets here before you fall apart. you are doing so much every hour of every day. Will be thinking of you on Friday for sure.
Judy...Liz, you all continue to have fun, friendship is the best thing!
Ves.....hope it warms up soon for you, and hope work doesn't wear you out.
Dawn, hang in there.
Hi to Doccat....all of you......have a good day tomorrow. I am just about ready to crash face first into the keyboard with Jazz on my lap.
hugs,
Shar
Hey Betty,
I thought you, and everyone else, would probably appreciate this and wanted to share it with you. :)
http://www.allright.com/Poems/TOLRailway/TOL.htm
Hello, everyone
Just want to say, I am so glad to hear from all of you! gosh, only missing gg now..then we will be a full circle of hearts again.
Oh my gosh Shar! so glad to hear from you but holy moly and maccaroni.......Are you allergic to roses? Seems like this starts with that.
Am so glad you found treatment immediatle ..sweet dreams for a good night.
Dawn, I hear you on all you have said. I am the same, love my elders, friends, family and just because. Older people know where things in life are. I usually am very in tune with all they have to say...Still have many older friends who make a big difference in my life, Can't ask for any better of friends. hehhe, the older the better, Besides old man Smitty, I have a beautiful friend from Croatia, Dragomira, she is 76! LOL still swims, in a pool even. I used to tell her she is the only person I know who has retired more times than I can record a tune.
I think walking is there key, seems they walk about everywhere.
So very nice to hear from everyone...Laura, awww. so cute your little one enjoyed vacation place.
Gilli, big smiles on you Easter day! I am always so glad to hear about your events...Lill Ella is so cute..tell her I really love mocs too. so comfy.
Liz...my Thelma! LOL...great talking to you! as always.
Oh Dawn, almost forgot..geesh, what we put up with in the gardens. Sweetie, your dream is still there, now we just got to think past all your critters. Like you saY, YOU AIN'T beat yet..I hear you! (oops caps locked)
Oh yeah, Carol...So glad you lost what you wanted. Only bummer about vacation is the added pounds, he3heh. Gardening will soon take care of the situation..I count on it.
Well, I am exhausted..(from doing nothing) So will bid you all a good night.
Best for today: Reading all your posts
Worst: Can't think of much
Learned: Will miss you in the newxt couple of days.
Goodnight.
Glad to hear that everyone had a good day, well most of us. Shar- Could it have been something in the soil that the rose was packaged in?
I started more seeds in the greenhouse, planted lily bulbs and peony tubers and worked on a new flowerbed.
Best- Working in the yard
Worst- It snowed this afternoon
What I learned- That Spring loves to tease us!
Mistygardener, chills are travelling up and down by body, with tears in eyes I say thank you for such a lovely post...it touches deep within my soul..music is exactly like the type of music I enjoy...it's words so profound..
If you've not listened to the link Misty posted, please do so..think it's meant for almost all of us!
Misty, welcome to our group, we love visitors and encourage those who do visit to come and stay within our community..often group threads are very tight knit communities, know our doors are always open...please visit often...
It's earlymorning, late going to bed last last so am dragging my feet, but as always I enjoy my early coffee with all of you
Will post when I get to the office, but Shar, lordy girl, what's going on in that body of yours? Hope today is a better day for you..
Misty..thanks for that link.
Nice of you to share it with us.
Morning all..
I enjoyed reading that poem..and listening to the music.
I noticed it was sung by Patsy Claine and Willie Nelson. Last night I was watching a PBS show about Grand Ole Opry special performances and they had a clip of Willie Nelson singing in 1967..short hair..clean shaven..and wearing a suit. I wouldn't have recognized him if they didn't have his name on the screen.
Tonight on CBC at 8 pm. there is a show on called Gardening Confidential. One of our members on DG is going to have he and his daughters garden shown on it. DG name is Bruntongardens. They live on the Isle of Lewis near Scotland. Names are Peter and Mary-ann. Not sure how long the clip of their place is..but they have done amazing things in their little bit of heaven.
Sharon..do you think maybe there was some red dye on the roses and you got scratched by thorn?
Dawn..you have gophers and birds eating..and I dread what the rabbits will do to my plants when it is time.
I know how you feel.
Yesterday I went to Canadian Tire to get a replacement wiper for my car. Bumped into my son there..and he mentioned that If I went to Pennzoil where they do oil changes that they have wipers there and will install it for free.
I n ever knew that..worked like a charm. ..and less expensive than the prices at Can. Tire..and while I was there I washed my car at the do it yourself car wash..it was a nice sunny day..some of the snow is melting.
Gillian..your Secret pal scarf went to Myrtle Beach with me..always think of you when I wear it. I asked my sis to take a photo of me wearing it so I could show you.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone. Hope you all have a super day. One more day running and I've got a 3 day weekend.
Morning All!
Busy day yesterdayfor all of us. Truck day went good. Stayed away from the sickies at work. But I have gotten a cold. JUst hope it is a regular cold. Time will tell.
Started my taxes the other day. Have to find a couple of papers. Looked yesterday and no luck. Will try again today.
Betty can hardly wait to follow your new project. It will be wonderful!
Gilli you had a wonderful Easter! Caribou! I always have a hard time trying something new the first time! But don't think I would ever try eel!
Liz I will pickle any kind of cuke except burbless kind. But there is a cuke called Pickling or Wis. SMR58 I have used with good results. For my area with such a short growing season I look for the shortest days. will buy 58 day compared to 78 day. Pinched his cheek for you! LOL
Shar wonderful story. Waiting for the next one. Sorry you had an allergic reaction and too bad you don't know what from! Hope you feel better today and that you can get outside in the dirt again.
Rachel they are talking snow for us today and so far none. It can stay that way. We still have plenty that needs to melt. I see you on other threads so know you have been very busy. and got snow yesterday. What a bummer.
Dawn a frustrating temporary setback! But you will prevail and it will be lovely!
Thank you Misty!
Welcome!
Need to go and look for those missing papers. Later!
Good morning all! Thanks for such a warm welcome and I am thrilled everyone enjoyed that as much as I did!
HUGS
Tammy
So glad to see you drop in Tammy..
Got into work 1/2 hr. late as there was an accident mid way and then had a meeting shortly after we arrived so there went my 1st hour. Am so looking forward to tomorrow off, well not really off as I've a zillion things planned for tomorrow, hospital for tests, have my 1st. major checkup to my vehicle, already 22,500 kl. on it, bring my dimensions for new door to building company, stained glass studio, post office to mail some secret pal pkgs, Home Depot for wood, pick up that new jig saw (kind that also does angles) etc.etc. and want to be home by noon..lol...then 2 days of play..Dianne called and said she'd be spending Sunday with me painting, trying to finish up a few projects...so I'm excited...
This morning as I left I took a look at the back shed and a lightbulb went on (or off) the doors are the type that slide open versus pulling open so now I must measure how much space there is between the outer wall and where the door slides open so that I can install a piece of wood to hold up my faux windows...
Good Morning Blessings
Good Morning !!!!
This morning when I wakened
And saw the sunabove,
I softly said, ' Good morning , Lord ,
Bless everyone I love'
Right away I thought of you
And said a loving prayer ,
That He would bless you specially ,
And keep you free from care.
I thought of all the happiness
A day could hold in store,
I wished it all for you because
No one deserves it more .
I felt so warm and good inside,
Myheart was all aglow .
I know God heard my prayers for you ,
He hears them all, you know.
Good Morning,
Welcome Misty!! Oh what a lovely reading and music, thank you for sharing.

I'm baaaaaack! I missed you all! I hope each of you had a wonderful Easter! Obviously, ours was a bit unconventional: had baskets for each kid (plus DD little girlfriend) then hit the road by 8am to SML. Ended up being a beautiful day there! Hit the grocery store up there (why is it you spend almost double the $$$ when you shop for food on vacation???). Cute house and great location on the lake!
Slept in on day 2. Headed out on the boat. Just a little chilly when we set off and then turned really cold. Very cloudy and "snowy" looking. Went to visit the resident lake carp at one of the local marinas. They were all down at the bottom but came up for some snacks. As we were leaving, it started to snow. Not much but that plus the wind made the ride a little chilly. We did have the enclosure on the boat to believe it or not, even though the front end is open, the air goes around the boat vs. into it so it wasn't too bad. Found the house we're staying at in July. Great location on the lake - spent a little more this summer for our anniversary.
Anyway, got back yesterday around lunchtime and after unloading everything and starting on the gazillion loads of laundry, I went out in the yard. I killed my new tomato plants while gone. They were in my green house so they either got too hot or too cold in there. I would love to try the Mortage Lifter tomatoes if anyone has a few seeds to spare. seeds I put down last week are looking good.
BTW - today is Murphy's 1st birthday so I went out this morning and bought him a balloon and birthday hat and he picked out a new toy at PetSmart.
Here are a few pics from the lake:
Chillin' (literally!) on the boat
