How much fun is that Judy..doing all those reno's and making it your very own...you are lucky to have Steve who is familiar with construction..doing it here and there seems endless but in the long run when you see the outcome you'll so enjoy...how far did you say it was from you home? and, how often do you make the trip..know you share with family so do you have specific times for use or all enjoy each others company...
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.37
Yep, Betty, it has been a wonderful learning experience.
Our ousins really don't stay there, they visit and the DH helps Steve with a good portion of the work...But they only helped for investment purposes. We enjoy getting to gether with them out on lake and bbq's though. The wife has a love/hate relationship with the whole thing so doesn't really do much.
All the work we have done, Unless you didn't see these photos would never know it's the same house. One of my favorite things has been to "overhear" all the comment by the people on the boats, it's really quite facinating.
So here is a small section of "the" hill. It took all 5 of us about 3 or four weekends to "clean" We hauled around 30 contractor bags of debris out of there!
Here we are cleaning!
dang, wrong pic again sorry...well that was cuz in previous post!
OMG, again posted wrong pic..ok will take a break.
Don't mean to hog everything up just wanted you to see the difference and these pictures are here at work and not on home computer.
Can show you the New house tonight!

That's a lot of cleaning Judy...soon you'll be able to put your feet up nd just enjoy..
Sitting here yawning .. falling asleep, Paul is gone out, Suzanne has door closed to do some file work, Wayne is as quiet as they come and me, well I should be snoozing rather than fight it...
Can tell you it won't be a late night tonight unless there is a flood in my baement...
Carol, you ok...that's a lot of work for one individual...ok here so far but starting to look like a lake in some areas...
Don't overdo...silly thing to say because you just can't leave it there, must keep working at it..hopefully though you have someone who can come in and give a hand..
OMG, now I am worried about both Betty and Carol. We have water standing around here, too and several areas with roads closed. I am not near water, though...and I am sort of on an incline, so the people across the street might get water, but I am unlikely to. And I don't have a basement either.
funny how we dont' give a thought to people who have to do all those things alone...until we find ourselves alone also. I am just now learning!
Can't wait to see the rest of your pictures, Judy.....looks very tranquil there, and I am sure the work you have done is wonderful.
Be back later.
Wow Judy that is some house. I am good at house styles but I don't know what this is called. Did you get a good deal since it needed so much or does that not exhist in a lake front property.
I see you had a little fuel mishap in the water. lol
I love that. What a treat to see and I'd love to hear all the chatter by the passer byers too.
I like you guys' dragonfly collections, all of them. I saw some cool ones in a place called Ojai and wanted to get some made of rebar and glass stones, but dh said he was buying a welder and I am still waiting. I have 100 welder projects to do if we get it. MEN!
Sum pump is a word I haven't heard since I lived in Ohio as a kid and didn't know what it was.
Liz the flowers are so nice ha? I got a wild Flower mix at HD the ones in the plastic bags and mine happened to have red CA Poppies in it because I saw one bloom today and was so jazzed.
Good Evening Everyone!
I see everyone has been quiet busy, as usual. Big smile.
OMG, Carol, please due be careful. With your basement clean-up! I sure hope you took it, slow and light, or maybe you can get a young one to help...LOLOL with muscles even. My gosh, I due hope this part of seaon goes quickly for all our friends in uhhm, severe snow drifts and worse. Carol, Thank you for sharing your tulips this morning. Nice to see on our gloomy rainy day.
So am releived to hear Betty and Shar are ok with their basements and or water issues.
Jeannine I was glad to see you had a great vacation. So sweet you had a young guest.. Also, the veg party...always a must, lol. What a great story about Murphy and doggie bootcamp...too funny. So now are your REALLY, really done with quilting? LOL.
Also, i was glad to see you both went to Docs. Will be watching for news.
Laura, I am so glad to hear you are feeling on mend again. Always good to see your post. Big hug to you.
Awwe, Gramma Ruby, What a big bummer, now you just take it easy and only use your energy to excersie a bit. Got to keep circulation going to keep balance. Have a feeling, you are going at things a bit too fast. Take rest for a bit. This too, shall pass. Smile and hugs to you, very gentle of course.
I enjoyed reading about everyones doggie door stories! gave me some good giggles. But I am so glad they conquered the whole concept. ROLF don't forget they make great "spy" doors too...(sorry Thelma, just couldn't help that one.) lolol...but am I not right?
Doc nice to see you posting. I am sorry about your tree and surely hope you might propegate the seeds. Oh gosh, your story abouyt your pups and the deer was funny. How brave, so cute.
Liz, what a great doggie sign...heheh, We saw a similar one that had a dog digging said no digging on his rump! LOL What a great place you put it too! Hope you have been having a good day. Thanks for sending my message.
Hi, Rachel...So nice to see you had a nice visit. and good to see you post! So how is your little pup Scrappy, doing??
Dawn, OMG, You picture of you Desert is splendid! Will respond on the house posts in a bit, trying to catch up with the weekendLOL.

Forgot to say, Shar thank you for doing the SP exchange. Also, I love the way your chair turned out. It's beautiful, also I am wondering did you make the pillow? It's great! Love that it has been in your family too! We have many pieces from Steve's grandmother, and like you, he treasures them, me too.

I know it is hard to keep up and include every person and post when you are even a day or 1/2 day behind.
Best is that I figured out how to do my Excel work on my 07Excel, which my class is version 03.
Worst is DH and I both have a sore throat and ache all over and feel sore and stiff. My class partner didn't show up today so I think she is sick. This thing is contageous when there are no symptoms so I am going to be mad if I get it again. Once was enough.
I had to see if I could do my work on the Excel in case I wake up real bad tomorrow and can't go to class.
I'll talk to ya tomorrow.
Oh, man Dawn, so sorry to hear you are under the weather too! Was thrilled to see you accomplished the excel program even with a new program. Woohoo, that is even better.
Well as far as house, we're not actually sure, what type it is. I fell in love with it (hehe, ugly as it was) for it's Ginger bread style. The people in the area designated it as the ugly blue house, lol used it as a landmarker! From the lake we just always heard oh..look what they did. All windows!! was a big one. Some would say if they like the change and some kind of balked at whatever we were working on.
Most of the comments were good though. It's funny how voices carry over water...kind of like an echo. People also have stopped and asked to comer in to see what we were working on. Lot's of coffee and tea had to be ready for visitors. It was fun to give the tours and hear the stories from neighbors.
The house was also greatly known for the care of the wildlife in the area. Old Santa Bernerd had a refugee conservatorie for them. LOL he was descibed as old santa sitting in his rocker watching the wildlife in action. Of course I thought that is is the coolest.
So..since it's quiet will post some more pics of my slide show on the house.
So this is the house, as she is today. this photo is the same of as when old oil can was on deck.
Oh gosh, Judy...this is wonderful. Can I borrow Steve??? I want to extend my deck, and I want a front porch, and I want to re do my floors......
OK, more pix please.
Shar, We would love to come help! what ever you need we'll just set it up.
I actually helped build that front deck! Me and my brother were left to it. Plus, I helped the enclosure of that front wall.
So lets see this is a the other side of the new kitchen...Don't mid our make shift stuff, LOL it's temporary.
Lets travel up the stairs...What you will see is the "recreational" area. To be the sitting room with tv and stereo. Bunk beds will be replaced with couch or chairs. And wi still need to install a partial wall by the stairs.
Got to explain this partial wall was a full wall with a door jam and very low ceiling. "We" raised it so dh wouldn't bump his head, lol/
Ok...Have got to show you the best Trash to treasure that is hanging in master bedroom. Dh was working on a house to be sold...was told to get rid of lighting and toss..so he did,and tossed this beauty to the house! Perfect.
PS...better stop, getting a bit slow.
Have more to show from outside if you are interested.
Judy everything is beautiful. You all are doing such a great job. And what a difference from those first photos. I love all the wood and the slants and the vaulted ceilings. It is really going to be a showplace, but also a comfortable home.
Wow.....is that last one a light fixture? Geesh, what a find!!
Thank you Shar, Yes! A hanging light light. you would never know it actually is on an angle too. So Dh has great taste...but rofl I have to show you one more pics of DH's decorating ideas! Ummm, Have a good chuckle, I did.
You also have to know this rack was given to us by my brother actually a couple of years ago...hahah, so glad Dh wanted to decorate...but i think soon this item will be removed from greatroom and placed somewhere else as much as I like it the piece.
...Going to say good night now...one last load to change and it's sleepy time for me. hehehe.
Oh yeah, but he did everything else just right!!!
I really enjoyed your pictures, Judy. Thank you.
Cat, have not heard from you in awhile....
Ruby, you OK?
And where is Gilly?
OK, I am not going down the entire list.....I just hope you are all OK and that all these storms missed you tonight. And I hope Betty and Carol are not wading in water.
Best....well I don't know if this is best or worst, but today was my day to get my regular injection for my back. So I go, but from the blood work there is still a high white count which means infection is still there from the flu, I guess. Also (and I thought this might happen) I am still on steroids from the episode last week, antibiotics from the flu....more meds than I have ever ever taken before. So my sweet doctor says that we need to hold off on the injection because I don't have the "body mass" to handle any more meds in my system until things smooth out again.
I tell you, ladies, getting old is not fun. I have never taken more that aspirin in my life...and here I am every morning and every night taking all this junk that is lined up on my cabinet....I hate that. This all started after Bob died, and I think I just got stressed and run down, and simply cannot get back to normal. So I am determined to try to eat more and regularly, but that is hard to do when I have no appetite. Anyway, my doctor (this is the pain management doctor whose name is Dr. Love......what a name!) is a real sweatheart. He found that I like poetry, and seems he does, too...so sometimes he says a line from a poem and waits to see if I can recognize the poet. Today it was from Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken", one of my favorites, so of course I know it. Next time i will have to come up with something that will stump him. So far we are staying even. I think I like him because he allows me to have some control over pain management. Like today, I could have had the injections, but he told me that it might cause more stomach problems, among other things. There is no risk in waiting, so I chose to wait. I like being able to have a say in my treatment.
OK...there you have it. Best and worst all rolled into one. And the only thing I learned is that I can still recite poetry!! Pretty cool for an old lady, ya think??
Nite, ladies. Take care.
hi there,
gosh seed that light fitting is wonderful!!

x
Up and at it this morning, making sure treasures are off the basement floor just incase...it's pouring rain out there and that's now good with 4' of snow sitting there so I won't take time to respond to all until I get to work...
Just a few things...Shar - worried about you...glad you have such a good rapor with your doctor..poetry..so cute..yep you'll have to baffle him on your next visit...
Judy, better give Steve a hug - my goodness what a tremendous make-over..love it...absolutely beautiful..what a retreat..I can't believe that beautiful stained glass piece..you should purchase a stained glass lamp base for it and feature it in your living room...certainly a treasure!
Dawn, hope you and Greg drink lots of juice, get to bed early and try to beat off this bug before it gets the best of you..
No word on Carol, do hope all is well with her..
Laura, don't know if you read in some of the posts but June brought me pattern books to photo copy some of the bear patterns, brought 2 bears (already cut out) and some bear fur, low pile type, eyes and nose..so I'll have to get a parcel off to you!...Suzanne told me yesterday that I sent it out just before she went on vacation so that was Feb.8th...don't understand it..hate to send the teddy bear stuff and you change hobbies within the next 3 months..lol
So off I go, things to do, garbage day so much carry out the trash..where oh where did I put that umbrella...
Talk later..
hahah no not changing hobbies... doing them all!!
have made 6 bags. onto my second bear.... making bibs and aburp cloths and will be learning to cut glass very soon.... im taking a leaf from your book!!
i did beading and jewellry making for three years solid!! great fun....
the day you posted that some one gave you a tote bag was the day i was posting one to you lol so i didnt.. dont need two!!
i am so enjoying it all,,, finding myself again i think. i used to do all sorts of things and then lost my confidence so its good to come back.
i must have missed the post about the bears... your so thoughtful.. you really dont have to...
i only just caught up with the whole misty thing tho i dont know what happened. i know she was caring and such. i got in touch with here but she said she didnt know me and that was pretty much it. i guess she didnt want to talk about it. i just wanted her to know someone cared is all. its all good. anyways...

laura, my you sound so up nice to see you like this and so busy! you are putting good use to your new machine and having lots of fun.
judy, what can i say... omg he out did himself!!!! what a great craftsman wood work is just wonderful, and what a find the stained glass is beautiful. oh p.s thanks
everyone else have a wonderful day
Morning all,
I worked with two wet vacs yesterday trying to keep up with the water.. Couldn't keep it from rolling to the part with carpet in the front half of the basement ..but mainly I was worried about the new furnace..so I concentrated on that area. It only seems to leak along the back side of the house.
It iis only water and it will dry ...It was tiring..but I am used to this happening every spring...and at least I am here all day to keep an eye on it. The sump pump is working hard. The water leaks in where the wall and the floor join. The ground is frozen and the weeping tiles must be damaged or blocked and the water has no where to go. The water finds it own level on a concrete floor..and in places the deepest it gets is maybe a quarter to half an inch. So I checked this moring..still water down there..but I have a fan and a heater blowing on the wet part of the carpet..and I'm not too worried about the rest..it can wait.
So Judy..wow ..what a huge difference in the lake house..it is lovely on the outside ..and will be wonderful inside..how exciting. Great decks..
The light fixture is beautiful.
Sharon..I hope you aren't in too much pain....and that you feel better soon.
Dawn..I can't wait to be thrilled by a bloom opening..wildflowers are sometimes just a beautiful as the cultured ones.
One of my sons has some old wood garden furniture that he is going to give me for my Secret Garden..he had given me a few pieces before..but has a few more stored and won't be using them.
Laura..sounds like you are really enjoying all your crafting. Good for you.
Waving to all
Cheers,
Carol
Hi Liz..we cross posted..
Have a great day.
Judy - BEAUTIFUL house! Y'all have done wonderful work on it and I LOVE the stained glass lamp! I can't believe someone was going to trash that! I also love the raw wood look you are putting up inside the house. Makes it look real rustic! I am so envious of a lake house! One day.......
Didn't log on last night - too busy watching DWTS. OK, Steve Guttenburg and Marissa whatever have got to go! I am SO tired of her smile! Isn't that horrible! And Pricilla Presley - OMG - what did she do to her face!! I read somewhere the other day that she was a "victim" of some horrible south-of-the-border "doctor" who is now in prison. Her face shows no emotion! I know, I am caddy!
So it's raining here today too. Warm though. If the sun doesn't come out soon, my cobble stones will never cure!
Got a bunch of new veggie seeds in the mail yesterday from a guy on eBay - "Heirloomvegetables". I got the following: Tomatoes: Mortgage Lifter, Giant Pink Oxheart, Giant Belgium, Mini Yellow Cherry, Speckled Striped Roma. Also, Boston pickling cucs & White icicle radishes. Plus he sent me bonus lettuce seeds. Very cheap!
Ok, back to work now. Will chat later!
J
Here we are...hope it's a sunshine day in your area...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/829454/
Shar that suck. I wish I had your weight problem though.
Boy you could glow in the dark I bet.
Judy that is so fantastic, is dh a contractor? He does great work. Is that your vacation house? I thought it was your regular house, but the comment about the closet at home, confused me. Love the Tiffany lamp.
Played with my seedlings that germanated in the coffee filters and they are now in their own bottles. How long do rose seeds take to germanate and does anyone know how long Campsis seeds take. I may need to plant more because they are not coming up and it has been a while.
