well im in shock she put something in her pocket today and ran to the car i know she did it because the weight of her smock was just as light as could be it was a 6 oz something, but can you believe we cant do nothing about it.. i hope when we go to work tomorrow there are camera's in the celling that is how the law is out here its horrible and now we have to follow her around and not be obvious. so have you thought about what kind of dog you might get for ty?

well now i have to eat then retire so everyone else have a wonderful evening

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, going to post to all of you when I arrive at work this morning..it's bitterly cold, calling for a snow front to move in this aft.

Think I'm going to give up listening to morning news..so depressing..

Off to feed animals, start the car 1/2 hr. early - sooo cold, put out the garbage and off I go..

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

howdie.

well, i guess i will let you know, i did get kinda sick a couple of weeks ago. I guess everything caught up with me and i just fell to pieces.... i didnt know what to do.. i couldnt stop crying, having anxiety attacks as some of you know and just not able to even think straight!
I ended up going to the doctor and he 'ordered' me onto some medication. it seems i had been in depression for some time and didnt really realize it tho i know betty knew and some of you suspected something has been wrong and that i needed to see the doctor. so..... i have been having a struggle adjusting to the meds, im sure you know what its like to take new meds and the time it can take for them to settle in. anyway, im doing a lot better now, i still have a rough ride from time to time but i realise just how bad it did get. i didnt know i was that ill to be truthful. i didnt want to say anything as there is a lot of stigma attached to mental illness and tho i know you would never say anything to judge or hurt me and that you have always been loving and supportive, i was just scared to say... you know how it is.

i know this one thing, that if it wasnt for you all, my garden angels, knowing that you care, the special surprises that arrive always at the right moment, the thoughtfullness.. the love, i would never have gotten through this far. Having y subscription renewed was a gift from god for sure..... thankyou isnt enough for all you give me each day.... I tell you the truth when i say, you all have played a part in saving me.... saving me from myself, and goodness knows what may have happened.

so here i am aunty betty, shaking myself up. standing on me feet again... yes with a little help but feeling better than i have in years.... more in control and able to see the silver lining. like i said, still a little rocky at times so hang in there with me... its hard to understand this kind of thing unless you have had it or lived with it but i know you will all give it a go....

well thanks for listening....

big hugs to all of you.....

forgive me if i dont address each of you and your goings on through each day but its been hard to focus... i do read them all tho and enjoy and love each one....

I am so lucky to have you......

xx

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

laura, laura, i promise no lecture but surely you must know that not a day dosnt go by that i dont wonder how you are or if your ok when you dont write, we support you 100% just know that no one here will ever stigmatize you this has to be one of the most deversified groups i have ever met each and every person has so much to give here, so much kindness and respect, that is good news the medicine is helping you sorry you had to go through this without our support dont be shy just tell us now then here is my lecture lets see some crafty work pictures lol (((((HUGS)))))))

Crozet, VA

Dear dear Laura - thank you so much for deciding to share this with us. Gee, in the USA it is almost accepted many people take antidepressants. I suppose that I have done so much talk therapy and also been on antidepressants for over fifteen years that I think most other people do too.

It is great that the medication is helping. I remember specifically the first day of my life that I woke up and wasn't depressed. It made that much of an impression on me. One of my doctors has called mine mild/recurrent depression. I had it even as a child.

There is a depression thread on The Healthy Living Forum if you'd like to check it out sometime.

Today is the day!!!! I am officially starting the covering of the chair. ha-ha Finally....wish me luck. Here is the before picture.

Hi Laura,
It is good news that you are getting some proper help. You know we are always here to listen.

Ruby..what a unique chair..I look forward to seeing it recovered..

Liz..hope they catch that girl red handed..it must distract all of you from your work..always watching and waiting to see what she is up to next.

Betty..isn't this cold and snow just getting to be a little too much!!!! Glad I don't have to go out in it.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

ruby that is a nice chair cant wait to see the finished project.

carol, oh its awful trying to work with our customers and she go's in the back room and were looking over our sholders cant focus on work.
i hope when we go into work today there is bubbles on the celling the'll catch her on film then we can rest.
it didnt make sence how last year we got a award for the lowest shrinkage and now at this inventory were 5000.00 short and she put in a two week change of schedual she got another job so we were excited to see her go but she says i dont want to leave i really like you guys ya right!

Glenview, IL

Oh my goodness! Laura, The only need here is to give you a major Hug....Feel that? sending you one as I type here.
Big big hugs girl! I am glad to hear you took advise and went to the doctor. Sometime that is the best thing to do. Now you follow the medication orders and you come and lets talk things over...I may not always know what to say, but I sure am a good listner. We all are.
So you have a good cry and tell us whats up. I do know that talking things through really help alot...and I do know one thing and that is that WE All of us, LOVE YOU Laura our Wonder down Under to pieces.
Arm Wrap my friend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, dear niece ended up in snowbank so late getting in..it's just sooo cold here..more snow lightly falling this morning, more yet to come...enough about me!!

Laura, sweetie, we love you to bits..you know there is no one better to be by your side than we your "Best/Worse/What did I learn today?" friends..I've never seen a more caring, loving and compasionate group of individuals..you would never be judged...those who have never undergone bouts of depression have no idea as to how overwhelming it is...

After losing DH Roger I also experienced depression..hid it for quite a few years, but there is no hiding, eventually it comes to the surface and watch out..tried many meds and either they worked a little or I wouldn't take them because of being stigmatized as "crazy"...but one day a doctor showed me a visual on the computer to make me realize it's a chemical imbalance..when my kidney's stopped functioning, it took nothing to take medication, when I've a cold, takes nothing to take medication, on and on an on, then why when a chemical is missing did I fight it...took Paxil for some time, haven't in years but would in a sec. if I found myself drowning in the sea of depression...here is the site:
http://www.paxilcr.com/how_paxilcr_works/how_paxilcr_works.html
go half way down the page an there is an orange block..think the title is 'how paxil works in your brain'...IMPORTANT..shows you how a regular brain function works and how the chemical imbalance brain works...see, nobody is crazy, mentally ill..just need some of the chemicals to get you back on track..right girls?

But do know, even if you don't want to share openly, each and everyone of us are here to listen, to offer support and love...(d-mail always an option) none of us are judgemental..believe me, we feel your pain when you are hurting!! No hidding...You do indeed have friends who love you and YOUR ARE WORTH LOVING!!! Sure hope that package gets to you quickly..lol...

Ruby, love the chair..are you matching the fabric to your chesterfield or other furniture..bet it turns out amazing..will wait patiently for the end results...will it be today???? lol

Carol, IT IS infact depressing ... lordy I don't sleep half the night for looking outside the bedroom window for blizzard conditions..in the morning one wonders if the vehicle will start..then you shovel yourself out..freezing while doing so, then the long trip in, not knowing what conditions lay ahead then all day worrying what the evening drive will be like..so yep...tired/tired of it, longing for spring...can't believe that this weekend is our first 'Heritage Day' long weekend..do you have anything planned??? Children are all busy so I think on Friday I'll pick up some supplies at SG shop, work on more butterflies and living room window hanging that way if it storms, I'm prepared...Michelle who just lost her husband will be visiting on Sunday..do you have anything special planned? Sure wish this new holiday would have been scheduled for summertime or early fall..what can one do in the winter????

Oh Liz..when you say she got another job, do you mean a part-time job to supplement her income or will she be leaving permanently..if so, will they still install the camera's..wouldn't like that at all...

Judy/Judy...what special things did you do or get for your birthday..come on and share...

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Laura - you go girl! I am so glad that you shared this with us. I know it was hard but like Ruby said, none of us will ever think anything different about you - except that you are stronger to have made the decision!! I have been on different anti-anxiety meds for 8 and half years. Before that, I just figured my worrying and anxiety was normal. I started off on Paxil and while it helped I gained a lot of weight. I have now been on 2 different meds for over 4 years and I see my doc every 6 months and I am fine. I have my blah days but NOTHING like before. It helped me tremendously to go on the internet and research what I was feeling and find out that there are millions of people out there with the same feelings. It is so nice to realize you are not crazy! My SIL and her DH are both therpists and they said over 50% of Americans are on some form of medication for mental illness. You are NOT alone. You can actually say you have a support system that spans the globe!!!

The eye is still brusied. I can't wait to see the greens and yellows!! LOL The fence seems to be working but we are also watching him and trying to not just let Murphy out and leave him.

I had a fun day yesterday. My parents came up for my Mom's birthday. We took our quilt projects - 6 for me and 2 for her - to a longarm quilt shop out west from me. It looks like I will need to take a loan out to pay for my stuff! LOL. All of my wall-hangings - while I could have just had them quilted up and down plainly, really would look better with some custom stitching. Each section is quilted. Betty, I finally figured out this is "ditching". The quilt for my DD room will be done in a sunflower vine. I'll post each as I get them back. I will then just have to put the binding on and wash them and they will be complete!

Well, gotta get back to work. have to leave early to vote in the primary election and DH's birthday is tomorrow and I need to go find him some fun stuff. I got him a Garmin GPS system for our car so since that was a few dollars, I didn't get much else. And then Valentines day is thursday!!! UGH!

Will chat later!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeannine...the GPS system you bought..can it also have navagation waterways on it..know my son just got one and when travelling the lakes it tells all..perhaps the computer chip is something you could get for valentines day..

Speaking of valentines day..don't you think it's one of the hardest days to get through when you are alone..EVERYTHING is focused on pairs...we single people are loved as well..aren't we????

Glenview, IL

Yes, You most cetainly are Betty!! Got to tell ya, We don't celebrate V-day. Why because everyday is Valentines day in our house.
We all show eacheother by little ways and the words I love are said each and every day sometime several times a day depending on what is going in our lives. So for you Betty and each of you.I just love the heck out of you. Smiles Besides am shown all the extra loving on my Birthday ...lol which is, as you know, everyday of the month.
Wish I can send you a rose, But all my garden pictures are in my old computer.
So a smile will have to do.oh and a hug too.

Glenview, IL

oops..forgot the smile and hug

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are just so cute 'Judy' thanks for the hug..needed one today...storm is getting worse...boss won't be back till around 3..keep your fingers crossed that he tells us to go home early..he's planning a vacation for him and wife, doing meetings so probably won't even notice the weather..lol...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not a fish lover, decided because of the storm I'd order fish and chips from downstairs..halibut because it doesn't taste as fishy..but yuk..throwing it away and just eating the chips..they must have made an error or not cooked enough....so much for lunch..lol...maybe a chocolate bar later will excite me...

Crozet, VA

Here I sit on my new chair. So comfy now. And beautiful too. I only smashed left thumb and right thumb seems to be starting a blister. The cleaning lady came and the house is sparkling, so I am happy as can be.

Betty, the fabric is some silky type that I bought with something else in mind, but I am glad that I had this. It is actually the same color, but not same fabric as my sofa and love seat. Everything is maroon. My walls through out the house are a sky blue and I have white carpeting. I didn't choose the carpeting, it was here before I moved in. Three dogs keeps the shampooer busy.

Here is a picture of the finished product.

I wanted to send you a happy birthday picture yesterday, Judy, but DH was on the computer with all of our pictures so here's one for you now.

The slumber party on Friday night went really well. The girls finally settled down around 2:30 am. On Saturday morning they discovered my craft area. I put a bunch of craft supplies and out and told them to use what they wanted. There were a couple in particular, who spent a long time with their creations. I think that in April or May I might throw a craft party and invite all of the girls from Sonora's class. I really wish that they could have all come to the sleepover. I feel so bad for the ones that aren't included but I'm wise enough to know that 13 nine-year-olds sleeping over would probably make my head explode. The seven that were here were quite enough.

I've been taking it easy for the past couple of days. Right now our basement really needs to be organized so that's my next project. I have a really bad clutter problem. I've tried to get rid of things in the past but it's always been so hard to let things go. In the Readers Digest this past month there was an article on getting rid of clutter. One of the things in the article said to ask yourself, "Does this deserve a place in my home?" Since using this tactic I've been able to let go of things a lot more easily. It's much better for me than asking if something is useful or if I still want it, etc. Now, all we need is a place to donate things, I don't want to just throw a lot of it in the garbage. My parents will probably visit on the March break though so I can send some down with her to take to Value Village or something.

Laura, I'm so glad that you have gotten medication from your doctor and I hope it works well for you. You are so important to us. (((hugs)))

Well there's more that I wanted to say (as usual). I tend to keep up fairly well with reading but then don't have a chance to write a post. Then by the time I get on again, the posts that I was going to respond to are way past or even on the previous thread. I do remember someone (Rachel?) asking if my hoya was fragrant. It didn't seem to be. What is really weird is that I have a hoya carnosa that I got as a cutting almost 11 years ago from my mom's (which is actually her grandmother's). Whenever it flowered for my mom the scent would fill the whole room each evening. Mine flowers way more often but barely has a scent at all. It's too bad because I love the scent. I ordered 8 cuttings from David Liddle last spring. Seven of them rooted (I was a little impatient with the 8th and potted it up too soon). I was quite excited to see my first set of flowers. Now my carnosa has a ton forming. I just love these plants. Hey Betty, a nice hoya carnosa might be good for you. They seem to be very drought resistant (which is why it does well with me). I can root a cutting from mine if you're interested.

We had ice yesterday, and froze my car door solid. well, I wasn't going anywhere anyway, but just the idea that I couldn't drove me nuts. So last night I checked and the ice on my car door was melted. About midnight last night, I heard an awful Roar....scared the cats and me, all I could think was tornado. I waited a minute..heard it again....stuck my head out the door....(duh, yeah, I know, dumb).....and we were having a thunderstorm....you know how warm it has to be for a thunderstorm???
Yep, went from 30 at noon yesterday to 60 at midnight. So it stormed off and on through the night, then this morning I get up to another layer of ice.

I think I am in the Twilight Zone. Straaaaannnnnggggge weather.
So the cats may be eating peanut butter or Ethan's chicken and stars soup if I don't get to the grocery. Well. Let me rephrase that: The cats and I will be eating peanut butter and Ethan's chicken and stars soup. OK, I do have some crackers.

Sorry, I know you have it much worse, Betty, and I am not complaining, it is just what we get used to, and I am not used to ice.

Had a great time with Ethan of course, they left about noon yesterday just as the ice was starting, and it followed them as they went north, but did not catch them, thankfully. I am going to have to make Ethan another pirate outfit. He has one that Alyn found at CrackerBarrel, but he is about to out grow it. It is really cute and here is a picture.
Ethan loves to be a pirate...

What a sweetie Sharran.

Great idea for a craft party for the young girls gilli. They will have a blast.

While I had my camera out I was looking at Christmas pictures and I just have to brag a little bit about my granddaughter Emily who will turn one year old on May 30. Notice the toy that I gave her.

Thumbnail by rubyw

I also bought another toy set of gardening tools to give her at Easter. ha-ha

Shar..what changes we see in him each and every time you post his visits..getting to be quite the young man..yep..can see he needs another pirate costume..but then what are grandma's for..perhaps you can make yourself one as well..look what fun you'd have being Captain Hook..

Made Noah a pirate costume years ago..oh what fun..I cut a round slice of pine into a circle that would fit his pirate shirt, went and bought one of those hanging hooks that you thread into the wall..threaded it into the circle..then on the other side of the wooden circle I attached a piece of bet so he could hold into it in the sleeve of his shirt..just an idea..lol..

I'll still take the blizzards rather than freezing rain..no control in freezing rain..Paul still hasn't returned to office..so did want to go home early as it seems to be getting worse outside...I'll just sit, gab to you all and calm myself down...

Gillian, do you know just how much I'd love to be there for a craft day with the kids...what will you be doing...need some ideas? lol..love the photo, my goodness they almost look like imitation flowers..shade of red/orange so vibrant..isn't it nice to have plants that have been passed on...PLEASE, PLEASE hope no one make me in charge of family heirloom plants.. you know what they end up looking like..thank goodness I can live with viewing all of yours...I will see if I can pick up a plant or two this spring at the nurseries and try my hand at it..as long as they don't have to come inside for the winter they've a good chance of surviving..

Ruby, now just look at that chair..you'll be ready to take on part time re-upholstering now...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby, look at Emily with her garden tools..lol..start them early right..won't you enjoy her visits..does she live nearby?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Betty, Ethan is so proud that he can put his pirate costume on all by himself. All of it. If you notice the vest is on upside down since the black trim goes up around the neck.

If I can go through my old stretchy knit fabric, I will make him something out of it, the stretch will be better than this cotton for pulling on over his clothes or jammies.

Which gives me an idea....think I will make several costumes for him. He likes to be animals, too...maybe a lion, so he can be like Jazz Cat. Now that I have this painting finished, I have time to make some things for hime.

Be careful Betty...you drove in alone today, didn'tyou??

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Hi Betty, and everyone.

Thank you again so much for all the Lovely greeting and photo’s for my birthday.

…To complete my day, I arrived home early which was great!

Upon my arrival on the Kitchen table was a vase of roses, more cards from the mail.
Which included a box from VA! Inside was a birthday gift from my SP!! Thank you so very much,
Such a nice surprise. I love frames and photo’s so your frame is just perfect for my gallery.
DH and Kids gave me a beautiful Hummingbird feeder. The girls each made me a card.
Then I received a phone call from my Twin!! (He is not really) He is one of my best friends. He was let go in the first round way back in June…I have not seen him and haven’t heard from him other then a few e-mails So I was glad he remembered by birthday, so sweet. ..Anyway he is called my twin because he is just like me only a guy…LOL. So then Dh took me to dinner to our favorite resturaunt called Tuscany’s.
When we got back we had brownies and Then I went to see what was up in the threads and I got Several more D-mails, wow was I surprised…Two were from people I haven’t heard from in ages!
So you see I was showered with love the entire day.
Thank you all for making my birthday the Best I have had in a very long time.
The smile and hug picture was taken just prior to going for dinner. This one has all my lovely gifts.

Betty, I am glad to cheer you up, It's snowing here too...All Day Long. You be careful driving.
Ruby...Your chair is a beautiful piece! You did great on the reupolstering. So pretty. And your grandaughter is just adorable.

Shar, Oh what a cutie your little pirate is. I think your creating costumes will be so much fun...can't wait to see them. I can't beleive your weather...Yikes I would hate to be able to go anywhere either. Crackers go very well with Chicken and stars soup. But i hope it doesn't get that far.

Oh Liz, What a bummer your not feeling well. I hope you tuck yourself right in to bed and take a good rest.
Well, my gosh I thought that girl was gone! Heavy sigh going on.
Feel better ok!

Gilli, so glad Sonora's sleep over was great. Sounds like a lot of fun to have a craft party....Well gee wiz, can't imagine why your house is cluttered, with a baby and two young children, always on the go with school, parties, and everyday activiteies, Do you mean to tell us you go to sleep during any of this?? giggling, If anyone has a problem with your clutter you just send them me and I'll give what for.

Carol, you must be busy today, haven't seen you all day.

Ok well i better go pretend i did some kind of work today...See you later...sorry if I missed anyone.
Wonder have a great day!

Home safe and sound..BIL let us leave at 4:00...snowing heavily in the city, then cleared until we were about 1/2 hr. from home then blizzard conditions once again..

Dropped in for dog food a variety store next door..was not going to play T.V. Bingo tonight..thought I'd just relax but Clara talked me into it..Kyle nor Noah are around to play, so it's just me..let's hope I can stay awake..Clara said she'd call to wake me up..lol..

Now 3 Wednesday's in a row I did not go to work because of weather conditions..they say it will clear up before morning so let's hope (or not!) I'm trying for a 4th Wednesday...

Judy, look at those presents...you lucky girl...won't be long and I'll think it's Christmas as well...love the roses..do you dry them and hang them for decorations???

Shar, can we see your painting..we've all been waiting you know AND if you feel like sharing what your gift was, we'll also be pleased to look...Now wouldn't Ethan just love different costume..I should ask what DIL did with all those I've done over the years...there were lots/lots of animals included in them..will check..so now out with the sewing machine..

Funny, was looking at my checkbook the other day for 2007 and you can tell each season what I get up to..
Jan.Feb.March - Stained Glass April,May,June, July and August gardening and garden art...Sept.Oct.Nov. Dec. painting in different mediums..I seem to do same year after year...

Laura, will you at least get to use the pool...hard to picture you enjoying summer weather and having HEAT when we're freezing here...lordy, just can't warm up...

Well it's off for a bath, p.j.'s, bowl of soup, look through a few gardening magazines (mind is just a twirling with ideas for my garden this year), Bingo and then call it a day...

Enjoyed visiting with you all today!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Glenview, IL

Oh Yay, so glad you are home nice and Safe Betty!

Yep, I am looking forward to your Cyber-Party...Should be a ball.
Planning on baking a cake and posting a picture just for you.

No I always forget to dry the roses out, Thats why I love pictures they last forever.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear you are safely home Betty. The hghways look bad on the news.

I was out shopping today..boy it was cold..but I needed a few things...had to take some things back to the library too.
I talked to all three of my children on the phone this evening..a top up..to see how everyone is doing. I will be caring for my two youngest grandaughters tomorrow evening at their home.

Judy..look at all thsoe cards..and lovelyt gifts..you were spoiled....wonderful.

Ruby..your chair looks more plush and comfy than before..nice colour and I'll bet it feels so smooth...your baby grandughter is so sweet..a gardener in the making..

Hi Gillian..kids can be so creative when stting around a table filled with goodies..and so proud and happy to share their works of art. I had lots of fun with my grandkids doing little crafts when they were young. I taped much of the artwork up to the walls in my basement laundry room from all my grandkids and a few from my nephews.

Sharon..your little pirate is so adorable...look at this face....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wouldn't you just like to hug him to death!!! so cute..
my ex DIL who has now remarried was induced tonight..maybe she'll have that little girl I so wanted..lol...I can still spoil her right..know both Caleb and Braedon would love a sister...son Jeff just shakes his head...

Because the telephones are now switched here I 've gotten 3 calles in the last 1/2 hr..busier in the evening than during the day..maybe I can talk him into giving me the 4 hrs. off on Friday in lieu of answering when I'm home on Sat./Sun. better not, then I'd feel guilty about going out...

Had my bath, in my p.j.'s and now I'm cursing myself..had taken a spiral ham out of the freezer for when the boys came Sunday night for soup..where was my brain, I was worried that the cat's might get at it if I just left it on the counter, so put it in the micro to thaw..that was Sunday morning and it's now Tuesday night..just found it so in the garbage it goes..and one wonders why I don't cook....what a waste...

Glenview, IL

hahaha, oh my gosh Betty. You are too much and I thought I was a danger too cooking...
I hope she has a girl just for you.
Sorry 'bout the laughter, just couldn't help it.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

CAROL.....How wonderful. I am so glad you can do that. I love it. I don't have a program that will do much of anything to photos, I need to do something about that. I love it!!!!!!! Truly love it. I just saved it so I can print it out.
Thank you so much.

Betty. I would gladly show the painting, but I know you all don't like abstract work, and this is quite abstract. So in order to keep you from having to say something good about something you truly don't like, maybe I should just not post it at all.

Besides, it is so big, I would have to post it in two sections....it is 4'x6' you know. By the time I get far enough away from it to get it all in the viewer, you can't see the details at all.

OK??

Victoria Harbour, ON

I enjoy abstract..infact I've just done a few, what I meant was it didn't really have a good appeal in this country house...would love to see it, even in 2 parts...

Didn't win at bingo, so now it's off to bed...

Best of today...LeeAnn my niece and her son wasn't hurt this early a.m. in her trek to sitters before meeting me..

Worse of today...Sailor is pulling hair out of her side galore, just gave her a pill, put medication on it...

What did I learn...getting ill eating old bacon taught me to throw away the entire ham.... and that I've lost it!!!

I got 2 really fragrant home grown sachet's from my secret X today, they now reside in my underwear drawer to make my underwear smell great. I have a nice sec. pal. Wonder who she is an what kind of plants are in the sachet, they are very fragrant and I am imagining where she would live to pick them recently so I imagine they are not freshly picked but still strong. Once again no stamped box from the post office.

Thanks secret sis.

Shar Ethan has grown so much in the last year, he doesn't look like a little baby anymore. Doesn't that make you sad, he is a little man now?
