Betty,
I have tried many different bird seeds. The best one (NOT talking about bird specialty stres...) is one of the Wagners bird seeds. The one where you have a clear part of the bag and can actually see the seeds. I think it is a 20lb bag andd costs (here) $10.99.
It has very few "fillers" in it.
By "fillers--I mean cracked corn (lots of weight, but very few birds eat it) and same goes for "milo"--those round, brown, larger seeds that are so abundant in cheaper seed brands.
I also have a finch feeder up with Thissle seed in it.
I buy a separate bag of Safflower seeds and mix them in. The Cardinals love them but squirrels don't touch them. Then I buy a bag of Peanuts and hearts and throw that down now and then for the squirrels. Just trying to keep everyone happy.
But, OHHH! The $$$ I spend on all this!!!

Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.32 Visit with Friends
Liz, I don't know where Hanson is?
Happy Valentines Day to all of my sweet friends! Sending you all big bear hugs! Scrappy is sending puppy kisses too! Have a wonderful day! Rachel
P.S. The picture I posted of the "berm" is not at my house (wish it was) it's at Ferguson's Fragrant Nursery in Oregon. I love that place! Here is a picture of one of the nursery kitties "Snoopy."
Ahhhhhh, sweet kitty, Rachel.
And Happy Valentines Day to all of you from me, too....
With love and hugs.
S
(P.S. I shared my Ashley daisies with you yesterday, so that has to count for today!)
Hi Again Everyone - Told you that I would be back. Thank you Liz for telling me that you make notes in order to try not to miss speaking to those who post. I am sitting out a note card so that I will begin doing it too.
I do remember Laura asking a question this morning on how we celebrate Valentines - whether we just treat our significant other or treat other people too. I can't speak for everyone here but in my case I usually try to get at least a card for my sons as well as my husband. This year things kind of fell by the wayside because I waited kind of late to buy things. I was going to go yesterday while I was out but it was raining so hard that I didn't buy anyone anything. A couple of weeks ago I had already bought my husband John a solid chocolate fish with a box that said, I am hooked on you.
I will go out tomorrow and for half price I will pick up some sort of Valentine candy for my two sons, my daughter in law and my grandbaby. Laura, I can remember when being in Elementary School this day was so exciting. Everyone usually exchanged small valentines with everyone else. For weeks before this day, our art work would be something related to this day.
I hear that Valentines Day and Mothers Day are the days that Florists sell the most flowers. I warned my husband many years ago to NOT buy me fresh roses or any other cut flower from a florist where the prices would be outrageous. When I have occasion to send something to someone, I always order a dish garden because it is made up of several types of houseplants that will hopefully live a good while. I have one plant that originally came from a dish garden that was given me over 25 years ago. It was about 4 inches tall when I received it and is about 4 foot tall now.
I usually have some sort of Valentine decoration here but also missed doing that this year too. Not sure what happened to me. Anyway, I hope this answers how at least one person does up V-Day.
Ruby
We cross posted Sharran. Yes, the white posies were very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Ruby
Paul took us all out for 'Valentines Day' luncheon..very nice...
Laura, when Roger and I were married we celebrated Valentines Day..he was often on the road (drove transport) so would celebrate when he got home...
I still purchase cards and chocolates for grandchildren..I'll get to give Kyle and Noah theirs but have to wait until Jeff brings the boys for a visit..
Remember in school as well, used to get a book with valentines which were punch outs, then envelopes you had to cut out, fold and glue and pretty little heart stamps..was so much fun..but always thought it wasn't the best idea for classmates because you based your popularity on how many valentines you took home...many children went home with just a couple..Grandma always made me give each and every child a 'valentine' bless her heart!
Ruby, plants for 25 years, lordy I couldn't even keep a hubbyf or 25 yrs..just kidding..he passed away a few weeks after our 25th so just made it...lol...got to joke right?
And I can tell that you really loved him too Betty. Your mood seems to brighten each time that you mention him.
I just got in to some valentine chocolate. M & M with peanuts and colored pink, red and white. Yummy, but I am ruining my dinner.
There are a few plants that I kill too Betty. I have never been able to keep a ficus tree living. I am sure there are others that I can't think of at the moment. Oh yeah, I have Sedum Autumn Joy all over my yard. All that I have today came from a slip that one of my aunt's gave me back in the mid 1970's. That is very impressive to me too.
Okay, one more hand full of m&m's then I will quit. These things are like lay's potato chips. You can't eat just one. ha-ha Have a great evening all.
Ruby
thats interesting..
no we just do for partners....
yesterday at work i was in the tea room and one of my boss's ( a nice one) came in all excited and said, 'come on, walk this way' and started guiding me out to my counter again! i thought but i just came off!! so he guides me saying 'this way, this way' and there is my husband, flowers in hand in front of everyone!! it was wonderful! tey were all jelous! lol he was working till 3am and wanted to see me for valentines day... awwww
so it was a good day.
feel a bit off today but its a 'girls thing' if you know what i mean... ughhhh
well best i go get myself organised for the day
have a lovely day
x
Home for the day! I'm tired it was a long 6 1/2 hours at work. The back roads were the worst. Not plowed and down to one lane or 1 1/2 lanes. The main roads had been plowed and salted. But I took my time.
Liz I think the inventory is on the 19th. Today another manager and the district manager were there to help clean out the stock room. My manager is not to happy about some of it. I have to get the full story tomorrow. I ran the cash register and put away 2 aisles of food and talked with the customers. Had more sales then I thought.
Ruby I use to take notes. Now I either scroll up and check out what was said or open another window and go back and forth. When scrolling back and forth I have to remember to not click on anything because I will lose it. Then I have to start over.
Gita my doves and bluejays eat the cracked corn but not shelled corn. I've been seeing plenty of rabbit poop by the feeder so I'm sure he is getting his share of corn. Also I would fill a feeder full of red and white millet and the goldfinches would eat it. the lady where I bought my seed could hardly believe it. Because like you said most birds won't eat those.
Cat you have a fun weekend!
Oh i'm starting to get tired If I don't run to town tomorrow I will get a picture of my gift.
You all have a great evening!
Did I say somewhere I'd like a storm for tomorrow..well it's arrived, a little early I think..icy roads and blowing snow all wrapped in one..
I'm off for a bath, turned the furnace higher, fireplaces on, I'll get some good books out and call it a day..
Be back for my Best/Worse and What did I learn...
Well!!!! I don't know what to say!!!!! And it is seldom that i am "speechless" .....
Whoever my Secret Pal is--she just spoiled me to death! Thank you! Thank you--for my Valentines Day gifts!!!! You were WAY too generous! The postage alone was almost $5!
And--this was the second gift within a week!!!! WOW!!!!
I received today--TWO beautiful Valentines Day kitchen towels----------a WHOLE bag of Valentines Day M&M's!--A small pot with Alpine Strawberries seeds in it-- and a most gorgeous Card!!!! See the picture at the end of my Post.....
You have made me feel so special!!!! It is the ONLY Valentines gift that I have received--as there is no one else in that category that would send me anything.....:o)))))))))))))))))) It sure sucks NOT to have anyone "special" in your life!!!!
I always send my 2 daughters a Valentines Card--because, I am not sure that their Dad will do so, as he was/is not the emotionally expressive kind.....I just want them both to know that I love them. I also sent Frank (Herbie) a V-Day card. He is my most "Special Friend" on DG--as we have been communicating, almost daily, for 3 years now. He keeps telling me that he does not know what he would do if he could not "talk" to me!
He would do just fine!!!!! He has Debbie by his side---24/7!
Anywaay---here are the 2 gifts I have received from my SP this week!
The first one is the "first one"--DAH! A beautiful, birds Garden banner and a hand-made, ceramic window hangie thingie.....
Rachel is that your yard, it is gorgeous and who is hiding in the bushes? giggle
Ruby I too love the fabric in the chair and it such a rich color and looks like an antique, which I am a freak for.
Cat I don't know if I am yours but I'm like you I don't post as oftern daily as some others so if it is me look up Post #4531324. Otherwise to whoever was so sweet my underwear has never smelled so pretty.
I don't know if anyone got mine either, but I can't always catch up on 30 posts every detail so I may have missed it. I will look at her posts on her page that she made and see if she got something.
Laura your boss is an butt cirlcle, if you know what I mean. I am laughing at myself for that stupid comment.
Happy Vanentino's day girls. Made Greg a great feast and bought him a lot of junk food too, which he loves since he quit drinking 2 yrs. ago. I made giant shrimp cocktails and filet mingon and big baked potatos and carrot cake.
evening all, im so mad i could just spit! were trying to get out of here to go for dinner i get the mail and the accident i had feb19, 2007 my insurance notified me to say not to be surprised if the person i hit files a lawsuit what really irritates me is i asked him several times do you need a ambulance he said no no i think he is full of s---! saw my car and thinks he is going to get pleanty jerk! but bad carma will get him! so now its a waiting game.
so the dog is growling at the back door kept telling him shhhhhh well i guess he was trying to tell me something so i opened the door and guess what is backing up on the lawn so now we have to seriously dig things up to find what the issue really is so i think were going to try to salvage whats left of the evening talk later
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. I had started a post earlier but for some reason my computer shut down my internet window - very irritating. Today was a PD day so I got to have all three kids home with me. Sonora and I did one of the craft kits that she received for her birthday. It's a fairy doll.
Yesterday I went with Sonora's class when they went skating. I would have liked to actually go skating but not with Ella strapped to me. I'm looking forward to when Ella's old enough for skates. When we got back to the school I visited Ian's class for their party. It was a good thing too. There are enough kids that still have trouble reading that it was nice to have an extra adult telling them who's names were on the valentines. Usually I like to have the kids make their own valentines or we'll do some up on the computer. This year I splurged and bought 'tattoo' valentines - very exciting. Sonora made little dolls out of styrofoam balls for her teachers and educational assistants in her class. Here's a picture of one of them. I should have taken a picture of them all. One had a dress made of red feathers - that one was my favourite.
Ruby, on another thread I remember someone saying that they open their word processor (Word, Wordperfect ...) while reading through posts. When they want to make a comment they just put it in a word processing document. When they want to post it they simply copy and past it into the reply box. It sounded like a great idea. Of course, I've never been on the ball enough to do it myself.
We cross-posted Liz, that is so awful. I hope you get a chance to relax at least a bit tonight. I guess it never rains but it pours.
Betty, I forgot to mention that I think we may be in your area in early July. Keith wants to attend a conference in Orillia. I told him that if he was going to be in Orillia I knew who I wanted to visit.
She is so cute Gil.
Liz that so sucks but it is California you live in, land of suites. That is why you have insurance. Let them fight it out with the idiot. People get despirate and you attorney from the insurance will address what took him so long if he is so hurt and he won't get much. I worked in this field but on the treating side, and my friend works for a PI attorney, that is how it works. It is no big deal, your back yard flood is a real problem, that is not. Let it go.
Oh Liz how dreadful...do insurances cover such things? Sure do hope so...sounds as though your day has not gone as planned, keep well my friend, but 1 more hours and we'll start a new day together...
Judy just called me, she' such a darling..I had been dozing so wasn't too gabby..her call did make my day..she's always so positive and uplifting, how could one be sad with her by our sides supporting us...but then, I think we all support each other..all kindred spirits! Didn't ask her if she was using that cel phone..didn't want to run up the telephone bill..lol..do appreciate it Judy...
Gita, didn't those gifts just make your day! And to arrive on Valentines Day..that was special and probably planned..
Gillian, you know if you are in Orillia and only 30 minutes from here, you are all welcome to stay..I so enjoyed your visit last year!
Dawn I thought for sure you'd have your doggy angel by now...should have...Greg know how lucky he is to have you???
Tummy is rolling..same yesterday so just maybe I'm coming down with something..so I'm off to look in the medicine cabinet to see what there might be to help then to bed...let's hope no work tomorrow...
Sleep well my friends!
Best...support from all of you and especially the call I got from Judy!
Worse...BIL Mike (Roger's brother) dropped into the office this aft. he's put on about 100 lbs. since he's been on this new treatment for cancer..looks tired, drained..know he was telling Suzanne not long ago that if he continues feeling the way he is with this new type of treatment, he'll discontinue it...so, it wasn't great seeing him look so ill...
What did I learn today...didn't learn it, just re-enforced it..sure is nice to have friends....
till the morning....night all!
Happy Valentines Day to all of you again. It was fun seeing and hearing about your day. Good and bad all rolled in together for some of us.
I delivered the painting to the lady who had commissioned it. She loved it and I loved it in her house. So all is well in that corner. I have worked so hard and so long on that painting, I won't know what to do with my time now.
Before I left though, I received a little package in the mail.....Now I don't have a secret pal this time, remember? However....somebody sent me the loveliest little thingie to hang in the window, and it has the perfect little verse on it, but there was no name, no return address.....beautiful and perfect but I don't have a clue. The weird part is that it came from Birmingham.....nobody here lives in Birmingham. I am perplexed, puzzled, and this is going to drive me nuts. But I sure do love it.
Now, when I got home there was a box on my doorstep from flowers.com.
Inside were 2 dozen tulips and they were from Ashley's boyfriend in Florida. I thought that was the sweetest thing. He had come up here to visit for a week when Ashley was staying with me. I enjoyed having him, but the tulips were certainly a surprise. Gorgeous.
So, I ran to the bank to deposit the check for the painting before I lost it....which I am prone to do. When I returned there was a vehicle in my driveway, and it was another florist bringing roses from Ethan.....so, I am feeling very blessed tonight. Teary eyed, but blessed. My neighbor even brought me a box of homemade brownies and a big pot of vegetable soup.
So....that has been my day, a surprise package, a very nice check, and two surprise vases of flowers. How fortunate I am.
You all had a great day as well...Rachie, what did you and Carl do on this LOVEly day?
Ves...good to hear from you, interesting about your work, but I worry about you in all that snow. Do be careful.
Hi Cat....where you been, girl??
Ahhhhh, Gita...how sweet, great gifts!
Liz, when it rains on you it really pours, doesn't it. I do hope you don't let this insurance thing get you down. Let your insurance companies fight it out. I agree with Dawn. I hope you had a better evening than your day was.
Betty, you don't sound your usual chipper self....you might need to be careful about all these tummy problems you are having.....remember what I am living with. I have to watch every bit of everything. And truth told, you might need to be watching too.
Laura..you sound good, I hope your long weekend is great, you have such a great hubby!!!
Judy...ah, what can I say...you are the sweetest! You and Betty are both earning stars in your crowns! Thank you for everything.
Gilli.....Ohhhhhhhhh, Sonora is beautiful, truly beautiful. Look at those eyes. I hope sometime you can share more of her art work with us. I enjoyed seeing it so much.
Ruby, you sweetie.....you are right up there with Judy and Betty always saying the sweetest things to all of us. Lifts us right up, you know. Like a ray of sunshine. thank you for your uplifting posts.
GG darlin, I hope your day was beautiful....and that all good things happened for you. How is the bruise?
Dawn...wise words, as always...you take care sweetie, tell us what hubby did for you??? You cooked a fab dinner for him. Everything you mentioned was my husband's very favorite, right down to the carrot cake. Reading that brought a little tear, but it is so fun to know that your husband likes that too. Bob also liked pecan pie, and I doubt that I will ever bake another one. I must have made him a couple every month for a gazillion years. I miss that.
So here are my flowers, I just have to share them all with you.
Gorgeous flowers Sharran. You deserve them all. And brownies and soup to boot. Wonderful. I am so glad that so many had such special treats yesterday. Oh Laura, that the hubby came by to deliver the flowers and see you is so sweet.
Okay, I know that I must have a secret pal out there somewhere but I will report that I haven't gotten my surprise yet. My hubby asked the other day if I had received anything. I said no, but that I had to remember that some of these things were coming from as far away as Australia and a couple in Canada.
Speaking of Canada. My husband lots of times will ask me who I am talking, oops writing to on here. Whenever it is this group, I refer to it as the Canada Group. He asked if you all ever spoke of the weather up there. ha-ha I told him that you were having a record breaking year in terms of amount of snow and that yes, I am hearing a lot about snow. Neither of us envy any of you who are dealing with lots of snow, but I am like Jeannine (?) in Richmond VA, one good snow on a weekend would be nice as long as we kept power, cable TV and Internet service. ha-ha
A couple of you have commented on the chair that I use at my desk. It is an antique in terms of its age, I suppose. It is part of a set that my mother probably bought in the 1940's or possibly the 50's. It is a chair that went with a bedroom vanity set. I can still remember the vanity with the big large round mirror that set in their bedroom all during my childhood. I always loved the set and would love to have the vanity, but that went by the wayside long ago.
Earlier in the week I thought that I had plans for yesterday and today. My older son who recently bought a house and moved out of an apartment had told me that we would be cleaning out the apartment and moving the last bit of things, but he called on Wednesday and said they were doing it at another time. I am kind of at loose ends not knowing what to get in to.
Oh gosh, this post is getting long, but I have one more thing to share. In one of the local newspapers that I read they had an article this week on Professional Organizers. There is a lady in our area who does this and I contacted her via email. She is going to call me tomorrow morning to discuss what I might be needing help with. She will be surprised when I tell her everything. ha-ha Not really, but for at least ten years or so I have had one trouble spot in my home that I can't seem to resolve on my own. Seems that the third bedroom in both of the houses that I have lived in always becomes sort of a dumping ground. It is usually piled so high with clutter that the room cannot serve any useful purpose. I have finally come to the point and accepted that
I am not going to get this matter under control on my own and need professional help with it.
Seems very frivilous use of hard earned money, but it is something that has really bothered me a lot. I am able to keep all other rooms in my house under pretty good control and am proud of the way it looks. This has been a thorn in my side this whole ten years. I can get it temporarily straight, but does not usually take very long before it gets piled high again. I am hoping that with this lady's help I will be able to give a purpose to the room and not continue this bad habit of using it as storage.
I will let you all know how it goes. As for today, since I haven't anything else planned, I may leave later this morning after the hardware store opens and buy the paint for kitchen cabinets and get started on that today. Not sure yet. Other option is to defrost some sort of meat and fix my hubby a late Valentines Day meal. I would rather paint though. ha-ha
Here is wishing everyone a good Friday. It is almost the weekend, yippie. Later all.
Ruby
It's Friday, snow falling heavily, newscast says Barrie (which is almost our 1/2 mark) is quite brutal but no call from DBIL to say 'stay home' so out to shovel, clean off the car ready for another days venture!
Imagine they are calling yet for another major storm system coming in late Sat. so better have groceries and craft supplies ready for being housebound for 2 days..
Can't talk now, much snow to shovel...talk when I get to work!
Home safe and sound..just got the call as I was leaving to say 'stay home'..sure didn't hurt my feelings..
So off I go, coffee and breakfast then, hmmm what will I do with my 4 days..must make a trip into Midland this aft. to pick up my birth certificate before they send it back so will wait for the first clearing this aft. and take a trip in..I'm the only one who can pick it up otherwise DIL Melanie said she'd do it for me..not far as long as I take me time..
Do enjoy your day, I'll be back from time to time..want to post to Ruby and Shar as well as all others....
Good Morning all,
I am sitting here with my coffee, catching up. I was gone from noon yesterday till late last night.
I had an errand to do..then went in to visit my friend in Oshawa and take here the ceramic pot I got for her orchid. It is lovely..really spiffs up the orchid and it picks up the colour from the blooms as it is lavender and white.
She was really pleased. Her daughter and hubby came by for a visit too while I was there and so we had a grand time chatting and having coffee.
Then it was time for me to go to look after my grandaughter's ..so off I went back to Bowmanville. I was surprised with a bouquet of flowers and a handmade card waiting for me there.
"Roses are red, violets are blue, I don't what we would do without you"
So cute,..coming from my 44 year old daughter. I think I will tape it up on the art
work wall in the laundry room LOL.
Betty no snow here right now but the sky to the south is very dark. Enjoy the day.Hope your tummy feels better.
Have a good day everyone.
Cheers,
Carol

carol crossed posts how sweet was that have a good day
Good Morning Betty and Starzz - Yep, my canadian group showed up this morning. ha-ha
Just thought that I would check in quickly before I go outside and do three dog duty or dog dootie, whichever you prefer. .In the wam months I am out each morning getting up stuff from the day before. I am only averaging about bi-weekly now and it taking me some effort. Oh well, they are still worth it.
I just remembered a joke that I wanted to play on a girl friend that I have known since before first grade. She had a very embarrassing moment on Valentines Day while we were still in grade school. We have both laughed so hard over this thing so many times in the past. I am going to email and tell her that the guy this incident happened with called me and said to tell her hello. She will get a kick out of it.
I just straightened out a kitchen cabinet where I keep canned goods. It was a mess and I couldn't even tell what all was in there. That is one productive thing for the day.
Anyway, everyone stay safe and have a good day.
Ruby
we cross posted too Liz - good morning to you
Laundry and ironing done, dusting downstairs, tidied up and now it's playtime..lol...
Jeff (youngest of my boys) just called, spoke to him yesterday morning for few minutes just before he had to leave quickly to interview a potential employee so didn't talk long...told me to check my bank account..put funds for flowers, outfit and dinner out for 2..lol..right for 2...said I have enough girlfriends, find one and enjoy!
He's planning on comming up on Sunday to snowmobile and spend the night for 'Heritage Day" (family day) providing he's feeling better...has had a terrible cold for a few weeks, cautioned myself and did not say "stop smoking'...as for the treat, think I'll wait till next weekend and if weather is nice I'll ask Diane to join me in a trek to Meaford (about 100 miles) where they have a large outlet with absolutely everything in it..so could spend my $$$ ...
Jeff's ex wife had a boy yesterday..told him I wanted a 'grandaughter' said I was stretching things to get a little girl but that would have been nice...the lady he sees from time to time (because they are both exec.'s and have little time to devote to each other has grown girls..wouldn't you know...they say they are JUST friends so haven't formed an attachment to them...
I've made my list for town, thought of what I'd like to accomplish this weekend and have it down to:
1. finish the quilted sweater
2. alterations to a few new outfits
3. 2 butterflies
4. glass panel
5. knit dickie for Cliff re doing snowblowing to back door
6. paint a couple more breadboards with trompe l'oeil
So, what to do, what to do? where to I start?
Shar, what will you do with your painting earnings..so glad she loved your work? Did you tell her the special find within? Love the flowers..how thoughtful of boyfriend..perhaps he's wanting to be more..what better than butter up potential MIL..lol...
Carol, so many accidents in the area..Township plows still not out..am trying to make sure my list is organized so I'll not be running to and fro, limiting my driving to the minimum..hate it when you end up in one part of town only to find there are a few more items you need in the area you've just left...how cute getting the card..my nieces yesterday started one for me but then Paul took us to lunch and no time in schedule to finish..they are sweethearts..
Ruby, won't it be fun to get organized..I joing "the flylady" and 'organizing yourself' etc. and found that although at first their suggestions sounded a little off the wall and much like a child's game, they sure have helped..(having no one in the house to mess up after me helps as well) hmmm he/he/he
Liz, how nice to enjoy San Francisco..and yep I should be there spending part of my winter! Still a lot of winter left here...in Penetanguishene (town where I was born) they are having their Winterama this weekend and Winterfest here in town..Roger and I would never miss a Winterama weekend..so much to do..but now, unless it's sunshine, it's too cold for me...
Judy, again thanks for the call last night, I did appreciate your kindness..you are enough to bring sunshine into any snowy/sad day!!!! Hugs to you...
Laura, what are you up to...
Gita/Cat/Rachel/Dawn...sending you a wave....
Just broke the diamond blade on my saw so put a check mark through the stained glass...ouch..$115.00 for new blade...yuk..maybe I had better check my bank account..hmm lol
I'll move on to something else...
Morning! I feel so much better today. Will even more when I get some breakfast!
But I promised a picture of my gift and here it is! A minature Garden Proverb Book with a little Daylily or lily metal book mark! Plus a little note!
Here is one!
The earth laughs at him who calls a place his own.(Hindustani Proverb)
Shar so glad you had a wonderful Valentines Day and thanks for sharing your flowers!
Betty 4 days off how grand is that!
Ruby I am also hoping you share what she has to say. I love watching those shows on tv. Now to just start practicing the advise more!
Liz more problems! Not a good day for it. Sorry to say but I am picturing your head out the window sniffing those great smells! LOL
Judy you are a sweetheart.
Laura I am with the rest No stigma here. You do what you need to get better. What a wonderful surprise from your husband! I am picturing the envy from the rest of the people! Maybe this will help them realize you are special!
Gilli I think your DD loves pink! How cute is she!
That is all I can remember and I do have to go and get some breakfast. But that first cup of coffee was sure good!
Love it..what treasures we're all receiving...brings so much joy into the day doesn't it...
Morning, morning, morning!
It's a beautiful, sunny day here and supposed to get up to 60. We had a few flurries night before last but again, nothing at all to amount to anything! Betty, I know you are swimming in snow and I'm sure you are sick of it by now. I'm glad you were able to stay home today!
So I had a nice Valentine's day. DH and I always exchange 2 cards - one silly, one serious. I gave him a stuffed dog from Hallmark that pants and speaks when you press his paw. DH gave me 3 dozen tulips yesterday morning before work. That totally took me by surprise!!! Then we went to dinner last night and left the kids home with Chick-fil-A to eat! It was nice to just get out for an hour or two!
Laura, I think it was SO cool that your DH brought you flowers to work!!! I know everyone was green with envy!!! So sweet!
Liz, I'm sorry your Valentine's day was a trying one. Hopefully everything will work out thru the insurance. All you definitely can rely on is that this man will get his come up-ence in the end (the real "end")
So I'm at work right now. Have to leave at 1:00 for my wonderful yearly doc appt! UGH! And I'm sure from this I will have to make an appt to go get a mamo (ouch!) But then I'm going to work (I use that term lightly!) from home!
So I will check back in with y'all later!!!
Jeannine, good luck at the Doctors..now come on..mamograms don't hurt that much..be a big girl, they just might let you pick from a candy dish!!!
Well it's been quite awhile since I started the quilted jacket, lost interest but the cold is here again and so I thought I'd finish it and continue to post the step by step because 3 or 4 girls were following directions..sure hope they went on without me...so will post again for those who didn't...
Thought I had black sleeves knitted up for them so might be a good excuse to get one of the knitting machines oiled up and knitting..so that will be this aft. project..
Hungry so off I go..think Kraft dinner will fill the need...
I'm almost tempted to join my furry friends..Sailor is beside the bed in the back, both Missy and Riley have a place of comfort and honor..
Well I'm batting a thousand today..almost afraid to drive into town..first my diamond bit glass blade, so I change to something else, get out the sewing machine, hear a noise outside back deck, the bakers over got caught in a burst of wind fell on the cafe table and broke the glass top..so I'm up to 2 thngs and it's not even noon....should I or shouldn't I go into town...hmmm
Gardengirl, I was out earlier cleaning up the yard of doggy poo. I don't do it as often in the winter as I do in warm months. I decided to pick up all the sticks laying around. I got some good exercise this beautiful day. Yesterday the delivery man brought a big box to our house. It is a leaf shredder that I ordered last week. It is also supposed to chop up sticks up to an inch and a half wide. I can't wait to use it. If the weather stays nice this weekend, I hope to get my husband to fire it up for me. The debri will go in our compost piles
Right now I am hungry and sleepy too. Going to fix a tuna salad sandwich and rest some. See everyone later on.
Ruby
Oh No..not good!..be careful if you do go out.
You may have to forgoe the money Jeff gave you for a new outift to fix up all the calamities..
Ohhh Ruby..I am jealous..I love fancy machines that help with the yard work.
