Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Pt.32 Visit with Friends

Glenview, IL

Hiya Gita,
Yep it is the same Mod Podge!! Betty taught me about this stuff in our Christmas workshop. LOL ..heheh, did I say I love the stuff?!!!
Glad to see you are out and about the threads...

Best...fixed my gift!
Worst...hmmm pacing the floors again,
Learned: well, when there is awill, there is away to make it happy.

Good night all,

Crozet, VA

Good morning all. Sounds like most everyone had nice weather yesterday. Hubby assembled the leaf shredder and I spent about 30 minutes shredding lots of little sticks that I had picked up in the yard. Wouldn't you know it, the thing stopped working and John said that we would need to ship it out to the nearest repair place. That was very upsetting.

I came back inside and spent a while potting up the elephant ears. Hope they all do well. I laughed when the bag said that they grow to 36 inches. We had one grow almost six feet tall a couple of years ago. Will try to find the picture and post here. Thanks Liz for sharing the picture of your very healthy on, or your mother in laws, I should say.

Speaking of Liz......what is the message that is on the lady's roof? First word looks like mafia. I can't imagine what she felt so strongly about that first off she would put it on her roof and secondly, be willing to pay a fine to keep it.

Oh well, after potting up my bulbs I picked up the instructions for the leaf shredder and read a part about what to try if it turns off on you. I asked John if he had tried doing it and he hadn't. So, he went back out to try it and he said before he had a chance to do anything that it just took off running again. I must have overheated it earlier. So yippie, don't have to send it back now. Liz, do they have a tendency to run hot and shut off? I guess that I will get used to it and learn its tendencies. I am excited to have it really!!!

If today is another nice day and I feel up to it, I will go back out and work on some more leaves. I am waiting until tomorrow to begin painting job, when I have help. I get a lot more done if I have someone working along side me. One more thought then I will close for now. First off, congratulations on "working" Gita. I missed you saying that you were going back, but if it makes you happy, go for it.

Last thought - John pointed out that we have as many as 20 flower pots in two rooms and about 5 or 6 big pots in another. He asked if I shouldn't wait to have the organizer come after these go outside. She is coming to consult this week and we might not get down to doing any physical work. I guess she needs to see all of the houseplants because that is the way that the house will look for at least half of each year. Maybe she will be able to come up with some ideas about what to do with them. Let's hope.

I hope that everyone will have an enjoyable day. Thanks for allowing me to share.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby glad you got the shredder going..bought one last spring, was still in the box until son borrowed it late in the fall, so you've both got me excited, come spring I'll be using it...

Maybe the Professional Organizer will give you a few things you must do before she comes..now do they just come for a day or do they come weekly for awhile..you see them on t.v. they come with a crew - stay 3 days and then they are out of there..,but then that's a show...

Up having coffee, Kyle spent the night, Greg and my brother Mike went snowmobiling and to the 'winterama' festivities..I'm to wake Kyle at 8am because Greg will pick him up and they are expecting youngest son Jeff to arrive at 9 so they can leave for most of the day..just opened the door, very/very mild - it's melting, now they say instead of snow we could get rain..that would be a disaster...

I'll check with the boys, I could do a nice roast beef dinner for late tonight to allow them an entire day of fun, nothing worse though if you are out there enjoying and knowing you have to leave to get back for supper..so I'll mention it..you see, I've made it through one entire day with success on breakfast/lunch and dinner....why not try for day 2...

Have a great day everyone...I'll be in and out for visits...
So up I go, I've my day planned, finishing touches to the sweater, soldering 3 butterflies, now that should get me to noon..lol...

I

Crozet, VA

Hi Betty - I am not sure how the organizer will choose to proceed. I do know that it is going to cost $40 an hour and that I can't have her here for very long. If she will just give me ideas, I might be able to de-junk some of the stuff on my own time. From speaking with her, every case is done differently. I would say that in most cases, the fee will determine how much she does and how much she leaves for the client to do.

You will love your shredder!!! If it doesn't start raining here this morning, I am going to go out and run it a bit more. Most of the chips will go in the compost pile, but some of it will be used a mulch aound some of my beds.

Well, gonna get up from here again, and do a few things inside before venturing outside.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't think Ruby that mine is like yours..mine is a leaf blower with shredder, don't think it could pick up twigs and things..you'll have to show a photo of yours..might be something I MUST HAVE in the spring...

At $40.00 you wouldn't want her to spend days and days..have you ever checkly 'flygirl' site for ideas and there are a lot of great ideas here on the clutter threads as well...

Michelle who lost her DH last month (he was electrocuted) is suppose to come over today so I can teach her how to do a stained glass lamp shade, well her specialty is called 'stagging' she goes into your home, take everything you own, might move your treasures from room to room and re designs the look..she's absolutely great..we were going to do mine a few months ago..but I'm a funny sort of person, I purchase something, look for where I think should be it's 'home' and then never change it place..was a joke with DH, he and the boys would take things from their place and see how long before I'd notice..believe me it wasn't very long...lol..so to have someone, although she definately would make it look nicer, come in and change everything, I don't know..if she were a stranger and not likely to come back then I'd have the freedom to change it back..but I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings coming back to everything rearranged..so, maybe we could mini-stage..lol

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
Read all the posts and looked at the photos.
Yesterday my neighbour asked me to do some research on front load washers..and what I thought of my Kenmore..
I like it a lot..but she wanted one with a larger capacity than mine..she has a hubby and grown son to do laundry for.
So in the end they went to the new Home Depot and bought a washer and dryer set by Maytag. She gets it delivered next weekend.

Went to the library to pick up books..got to the check out and couldn't find my library card..they set the books aside and I came home and found it inside a book I got last time. So back I went... I request books from the website and they call when they come in..but sometimes I end up with too many books..and I run hot and cold on reading..

So next weekend my friend Cathleen who lives in Victoria B.C. is coming to Toronto for a seminar..and then is coming to spend a couple of days with me before she flys home.
We have been trying to figure out the best way of her getting here. Decided on cab from hotel to GO train at Union Station and I will pick her up in Oshawa at the GO train station. Hoping it won't snow..

She has been here three times in the 11 years that we have been friends. twice with her fella..but they have parted since. This was taken at Cobourg beach in 2003.

Betty if it rains as much as they predict I'll be at the end of the shop vac..my basement leaks along the back wall when we have a huge rain and thaw.

hi there all,

sorry betty no package yet. your sweet regarding the machine but i will look around. we have KMart which i think is the same but it will have to wait. i will find one for sure soon.

glad to see your all busy...

stay well...
send me happy thoughts..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Oh..I've wondered about having a stageing /declutter type person come to my house..but as you say Betty..we get attached to our trinkets and sort need them around.

It is amazing what they do on those decorating shows ..and I love to see the transformations.

Betty I think you must have the leaf blower/shedder..that will suck up the leaves into a bag and cut them up..it fills up quickly...I have that kind.
Ruby must have a Chipper shedder...and that is what I would like to have..a chipper..for all the branches I have..I used to burn them..but last year someone in the neighbourhood started complaining to the fire dept. and no one can have fires anymore..I think the firemen came to three or four different homes..so it has made us all very unhappy. The neighbours used to gather in the summer and have mrachamllow roasts and sit aournd the ifre and gab ..
I spoke to the fire dept. and the law is you must have 10 acres and a permit to have fires..but we have been having bon fires for 25 years with out any complaints. The firemen said they don't bother if no one complains..but if they do..out they come..give you a warning the first time and the next time a fine.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Sending happy thoughts to you Laura..

They say those meds sometimes take a few weeks to really make a difference.

Cheers, mate :)

Ruby,

A couple of things.....
I have NOT been lucky (??) to go BACK to work...I was just scheduled to work last night and that is IT for the next 2 weeks again--at least!. We have a new store manager, maybe things will be looking up???? The season is getting a bit busier too, so maybe i will get more hours. To be honest--I like being home. Who wouldn't?

Second--- and I am sure you know this, but putting freshly shredded wood chips on flower beds is not a good idea as the wood needs to decompose first--and doing so on your flower beds will deprive the soil there of extra Nitrogen.

I am with you all on having someone come here and "mess around" with all my stuff. I would not like it either. I know I will never get to it--as I just don't know where to put it and i don't want to throw any of my "stuff" out.

Starzz---Did you know Maytag also makes all the Admiral appliances that HD sells? Same warranties, but you pay less as "THE" name is not on there. But---too late now....

OK! Gotta see what I can accomplish today!
On my agenda is to plant a few seeds in small pots and put them in the fridge (sort of a fake winter--striation...) and pot up the 8 corms of a bag of Caladiums I bought yesterday and set them on top of my water heated. They take a while to sprout.
Gotta read up on my COBRA insurance papers I got, as I am now stuck paying for my dental and vision through THEM--having gone 2 consecutive Pay periods without pay. The bummer is--that I am now stuch being under COBRA until the end of the year when "open enrollment" comes again. IF I am still working! It will only cost me about $4 more a month than my regular paycheck deductions. Glad I don't have to pay for any medical, as I am already on Medicare...

Too cold outside to go and clean up. I have so many leaves that have blown all over to clean up! If the weather stayed above 40* for 24 hrs, I could also spray my roses with Lime Sulfur to combat the "Black Spot" fungus we get every year.

Have to also do something towards growing the seeds I have. Need a shelf, but haven't found one yet. Trying to be "cheap"--I can always buy one for $60!

Tally-Ho, Mates! Gita

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Hey Gita..
You are in the gardening mood...

Thanks for the tip about the washers..will keep it in mind.
Now do you have any tips on an electric wood chipper...I know they won't handle big branches....but it would help with the cleanup of my branches..I have a couple fo piles of them just sitting. I often think about sneeking out in the middle of the night and just having a bonfire when everyone is leeping..LOL

Ruby..can you let us know more about yours..Brand ..price..electric or gas?..size of branch it will handle..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kyle just left and Carol, it's starting to rain..Jeff got to Greg's late last night, said he tried calling me about 11:15 to say he had just arrived and would I open the door, when I didn't answer he went over to Greg's..

Hopefully heavy rains will come later in the day so they can put in a day of good riding..

Kyle wanted to take photo of grandma and Missy..had I known I would at least have brushed my hair..lol...option is NOT to post it but Kyle wanted me to so I will...

I was sewing the bands on the jacket..look who is feeling a need to cuddle...

Carol, how wonderful to have your girlfriend come for a visit..loved the beach photo..sounds as though you had quite a day yesterday..I try not to get into reading because when I do, all else goes by the wayside and I read/read until the book is done..so looking at my gardening magazines which are addictive (always purchasing new ones) is enough for me!

Gita, looking forward to seeing your gardens this spring..you've a wealth of good information to share..I wouldn't have known about the wood chips either..

And yes, Ruby, please share what make/model you have...

Laura, medications sometimes do take awhile to work, don't give up on them..if you can't sleep get out something you truly love and enjoy doing it or reading it..something..just don't dwell on the non-positive..get some photo's out of the grandchildren..that's bound to bring you up..just keep posting and gabbing, someone will be dropping in to gab with you...

As for the parcel it will be interesting to see just how long it takes to get there...know I also mailed Dawn's Angel Dog and she doesn't have hers as yet..so, guess patience will be a virtue...

Shar, what piece of stained glass did you receive..are your boys there this weekend? How's the weather?

Morning to all those sleepyheads who still are dozing and dreaming of their gardens...wave/wave...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning.

Betty and Carol, It's pouring down rain here. Suppose to change to snow...

Well Ladies you know how much I love nature? Love the sound of waterfalls and today I have that beautiful sound right in my house...Yep got the meltdown going and it's running right down my basement stairs! Checked the rest of the basement and got some seepage, not much I can do until it stops...And of Course DH in Wisconsin, not that he could do anything about it either but everytime issues happen he is away. Got to laugh about it at least We got a new sumppump which has been going non stop...sigh.

Well now look at all you have shared this morning! Great picture Betty. Your dinner last evening sounded wonderful...Very funny story to tell you. Was making dinner taco casadillas. Ok so made everything and while heating the shell hopped over to the microwave to melt cheese and in the very few seconds I was there My shell caught fire!! Oh golly good thing I don't cook very often or we'll not have a house....So I was thinking about you and glad to hear your turned out. Mine did too as I did the same throughout the rest...Hahaha, can you imagine the two of us the same kitchen? LOL you grab the phone and I'll grab the take out menus.

Carol, what a beautiful card you sent to Laura. Nice you will have your friend, how exciting for you, you have a wonderful visit.

Ruby and Liz...We have that machine! I don't run it but my guys do, they love it.
So glad you enjoyed your quiet time Liz. Yow, that yarn sounds expensive...not a knitter so don't know how much a ball would cost. By the cost it must be silk!

Gita, great advise about the wood chips...Sounds like you have a busy day with all the planting, pretty soon i'll be getting that bug too.

Laura, Sounds like fun class for you and DD to do together. Sending Good thoughts your way. Soak up the sun and feel good...We were watching this crazy show on funny things happening and there was a clip with this news caster talking about the weather. She was standing by the I think the ocean...She was reporting on how it was such a beautiful day Calm and Sunny when all the sudden This giant Wave out of nowhere came and knocked her over....hahahah, I said hey thats what happened to Wonder's DH and she caught it on film too.. So funny.

Well I hope you all have a funfilled day. Got to grab something to eat...House is quiet kids are still sleeping.

Pacifica, CA

judy, when it rains it pours lol omg how much water will end up in the basement? poor thing dosnt if figure when dh is away

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Gita in California if you get cut from your regular hours, unemployment will kick in the rest of what you used to make, they pay the difference. Check it out please.

If you open a claim here Cal) it holds it for a year at that pay rate so if you suddenly get laid off all together or suddenly go on full unemployment and I think even state disability it holds your wages for those months where you were making more money. As opposed to filing later and the base period might be when you are not working, like now.

It is complicated but may be the same in your State. The unemployment people aren't apt to tell you unless you ask and then they will. My friend was an old patient of mine and she told me all this. She can not volunteer this to others but she told me to always ask if something might be true, then they will usually tell you.

Betty you guys must have low turn outs at churches there in the winter. They need a church within walking distance in every neighborhood.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dawn, there are 3 churches really within walking distance, however, with freezing rain one should just stay inside..too easy to break bones..I watched Joel Olsteen, Creflo Dollar and another this morning so find it's as good as going..

Finished my jacket/sweater, 3 butterflies cut and tacked with solder..roast in the oven and now I think I just might join the furries, put my feet up and enjoy..no hurry for supper had left over turkey dinner...and there are still 2 muffins waiting to be eaten..if the boys get back from snowmobiling they can have a regular supper, if not, there will be plenty of roast beef for them for a snack or dinner tomorrow..nice to be young and enjoy the elements..won't be that many more years and they'll want to sit by the fire!!lol..

Cousin Doug called, he was going to come down and visit and bring scoot but with the rain, he'll do it another weekend..

Well off I go..couch is looking so inviting!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Dawn,

I have already applied to--and am receiving, checks from the Unemployment people. Everyone I ever had a need to talk to "over there" was more than helpful. Very encouraging and answered all my questions.

There are some "glitches". Like last week, I worked 2 days--14 hrs,. total--which put me over the allowed limit on earnings per week and then it automatically closed my File. All I have to do then is call them up to re-open the file. Once that is under way, I have to call, or go on line (easier) and answer 4 simple questions every other Sunday, as long as I do not make over $155 a week. If I do--it shuts down the "File".
If I do not work at all on any given week, I get $155 a week from them. If I work only 6 hours (like last week), they will send me a check for the difference. Hey! It's better than nothing!!!!!
One has the option to have taxes withheld before they send you the check-- or not.

Thanks for your input! Gita

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Good Gita. Hi Laura.

(Cathy), MO

Hi everyone. Just got back from my daughters place. Keeping the grandkids while Mom & Dad run off for the night to celebrate their anniversary. We had a great weekend. Hope everyone is staying warm and out of trouble! :-)

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Hey all ----

I just replied to someone on the Composting and manure Forum and I thought I would share what i wrote there with you all-----------since you all think I am just SOOO smart!
Hey! Live and learn! And--I have lived and worked and learned a lot of things in all my jobs for growers and greenhouses and HD and such over the last 20 years.
Glad to share--just hope I am right!

We had a discussion going on about different manures (how exciting!). Like--horse manure and cow manure and elephant manure and--lastly--chicken manure. So--I replied the following.............

****************************************************************

If it is STRAIGHT Chicken manure--with NO "fillers" (like bedding or sawdust or straw or whatever)--you need to dilute small amounts of it in buckets of water and then use that on your beds...or use it VERY sparingly.

REMEMBER!!!! Nitrogen grows GREENERY! Like your lawn! If you want a lot of "greens", then high Nitrogen stuff is OK. Like--Lettuce, Spinach, Collards, etc. BUT--If you want fruit of any kind (including Tomatoes) you do not want a high nitrogen product as a fertilizer. You will have the lushest plants around--but not so much fruiting on them. You kind of will be trading one for the other.

Please read the 3 numbers on the backs of all your packaged fertilizers and know what they do:

1st number=Nitrogen (good for leafy stuff and greens)
2nd number=Phosphorus (good for blooms and fruiting).
3rd number=Potash Good for overall hardiness and overall health of a plant.

So--
15-30-15 (like powdered Miracle Gro and the like) are good for blooming plants and general feeding--BUT!!!! Remember that any kind of "Blue Water" (water soluble fertilizers) are a "quick fix" and NOT a long term feeding. Because of this, people may have a tendency to overfeed. It is so heavily advertised as THE thing to use.....Your goal should be for something that is a "Slow Release" product--like most organic fertilizers (eg-all Espoma stuff) or something like the Osmacote pellets.

10-10-10 is known as an All Purpose fertilizer--spread it anywhere. Farmers love it!
30-10-8 (or like that) is very high in N and good for lawns--ALL green!

ALWAYS check the backs of your containers and bags of fertilizer to see what is in there and in what proportions.
You can learn more about all this in any Gardening Book--or just ask anyone in the appropriate Forum on DG.

Most manure of any kind is, likely, high in Nitrogen. A bit of Lime might be helpful if you use manure in your plantings.

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita thanks for your post, am going to cut and paste so I can take it with me this spring..

I was so proud of the Ivy my Aunt Muriel has given me and my ability to grow it twofold..must have been about 60 ft. long which I had it wrapped around bamboo poles, lovely plant, well one day it died (almost in a day) and so did many of the other plants...

I kept thinking about it..thought I'd give them a treat and feed it Miracle Grow..wasn't long after that they all died..I think I killed them with kindness--perhaps too strong..so will really watch those numbers...

Had a nap, yes I did..now I'm wide awake..no call from boys, they were up the islands so I'll slice the roast beef with my slicers, package some into the freezer and keep some out for them for tomorrow..

We've had a lot of rain, some ice and now the winds are just howling..I've a motion light in the front and with the big oaks swaying it keeps coming on..must be annoying the neighbor because he called to see if something was wrong with the light..can't turn it off because it's direct wired..have to get someone to come and put an off-on switch..

Must be a 'John Wayne' anniversary of some kind because almost all day on the older channels are his movies..

oops think the boys are here..bye for now

Victoria Harbour, ON

Boys dropped in just to let me know they were home..know I'm a worry wart when they drive the lakes..all were soaken to the bones so left for Gregs' house..imagine, to play Guitar Hero 3..guess my boys are still boys at heart..

So I'm closing the lights, calling it a night...

Best..knowing the boys are all safely at home
Worse..rain/rain..we'll all be flooding the way temps have changed ..
What did I learn..that I enjoyed working part of the day and resting part of the day..

Yet another to look forward to tomorrow...

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi All,

I have been a busy sewing bee this weekend so not much time to post (although I have been lurking!). I finished cutting out my new quilt on Friday and started piecing it together - which has been very time consuming. I had to make 60 sets of a 20"x 3 1/2" and a 20" x 1 3/4" strips of fabric. The fabrics are all different color and I have to mix them all up. Once I finished the 60 sets, I then had to sew them together to make 30 sets. Of course I had to make sure there were not matching fabrics so that was fun!. Then I cut each of the 30 sets into 2 - 7 1/2" sections and 2 - 1 3/4" sections. I had stips coming out of my ears!!!! Once these were cut, then the really fun part started - laying out the pieces and trying not to have any duplicate fabrics touching each other. It was tough but I did it; sewed everything togehter to make 19 rows. Now I'm sewing the rows together. I've got 5 done so far - see below. The tough part here has been my seams are not perfect so I am having to tighten up some of them so they match the row before them. Anyway, I really think it's going to be pretty once it's all done!

I will have a very busy day tomorrow. I have to go up to McLean for a department mtg. Luckily, I can ride our company bus that goes back and forth between Richmond and Northern VA. So I can read and listen to music for 2 hrs. After I get back I will have to head right over to school so I will probably not have any time ntil tomorrow night to check in.

So y'all have a wonderful day!!!

Betty,

A small correction! I was so reminded on the Composting Forum....

The third number is NOT Potash! It is Potassium.....No biggie! 5 of the 6 letters were right......:o)

Yet another day off..our 1st ever February holiday..."family day'
It's melting outside like crazy..maybe I should spend my day building an 'Ark'..lol

Jeannine love the quilt top..will it be a wallhanging or lap quilt?
Need to find someone to do my cross stitch quilt mom gave me last year for my birthday... not sure I posted it..have to look for a photo..

Well of to have my coffee..gab later

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
I have been up since 5 am..water leaking in the basement with all this quick thaw. Can't have it fixed because most of the back of the house has a big deck across it.. so I just wet vac it up..and carry on.. it only happens once or twice in the big thaw this time of year.

Betty you must check out the article on carving artist Murray Springthorpe..mentions Victoria Harbour..etc..with a link to an old building there..
I'll try to find the link and post it..don't want to lose my post..

Jennine..such pretty colours for your quilt.
Are you making this for yourself?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love the colors Jeannine..

Just found an antique frame that deserves something better than a photo, so while my sewing machine is out, I'll go through my embroidery disks and see if I can find something and change it to cross-stitch and make colors co-ordinating to put in it..

It's now snowing quite heavily, temps are dropping, that's fine with me, too mild too soon does create havoc right Carol...

So far so good with my sump pump and then the auxilliary battery operated one..then Mike (Darlene's hubby) put in a water alarm so that if it does start to flood at least I'll be aware of it...

I'm excited, cooked that roast beef just perfect yesterday, not overcooked..took my slicer out and did it up and put the slices into the juice until the boys get here for a roast beef dinner..might even peel potatoes to be extra organized..

I'm not sure what happened but every time I breath I get an ache within almost like I injured my ribs but I haven't gone outside since Friday except to shovel and get rid of snow on back shed roof so goodness, don't know where it's coming from...

Got my mending done so I'm chopping off on my weekend list to do..

Had a call from my girlfriend in Ireland last night..she's on the mend..hasn't been feeling good since her trip to Hungary..

Then Geraldine called and we gabbed for about 1 1/2..she's the lady who lost her DH at Christmas and now lives in Florida..she has never driven and is quite excited that a neighbor is teaching her to drive the golf cart so that's a plus..

June just called and she and DH are dropping in to say 'hi' she wants me to see her finished floormat and a baby outfit she just did..I'm going to get some wood and make a blanket on the knitting machine next weekend so that I can embroider Lisa's new baby's name and date of birth and lbs. so I can get it to her before he has his 1st. birthday..lol..already planning next weekends chores..

Was going to start a glass panel for my living room but am not impressed with what glass I have so will have to go out shopping for it...

Jeannine, anyone who loves quilting or sewing loves stained glass because choosing the color combination and also the pattern is much similar..so there you go, when too many quilts, change over to SG...lol

Well, upstairs I go, going to wash the entrance floor, guys and their snowmobile boots..don't know why I don't wait because no sooner will I do it, they'll come over... gives me something to do though...as though I need something to do..d..n these ribs...

Oh my gosh Jeannine...How beautiful your quilt is. Very nice array of colors. You have some patience to piece and sew it all together...Reminds me of a giant puzzle, and with your discription on all of the work that goes into these quilts I can feel the love as well. What a truley amazing piece of art. Though i am not a quilter, I so very much enjoy see your work. Thanks for explaining how it is done., I hope you will share this same when you piece together the stars within the stars quilt too.

Great info on the mulching Gita, LOL a small typo. I have heard of chicken poop for for fertilizer so knowing that it has to be watered down is great info...LOL not that I have access to chichen stuff but for anyone who does...Think I will stick with premixed...Which was really good to know the difference too.

Carol, I hope you don't have too much leakage to the space...My water fortunatley just went right into the drain.
We learned a hard lesson, to keep stuff off the floors and in plastic bins.

Betty, big smiles on your dinner results. Sounds scrumptious! Now, my goodness please take care with whatever has happened to your ribs, I sure hope you are not overdoing and picking up heavy items. Maybe a visit to the doc is in order, know you hate going but geeze don't fool around with this. Nice to hear you had a nice visit with your girlfriend, Isn't it grand to visit people around the world...I so love Ireland.
I know...I think I forgot to say how much I enjoyed my visit with Shar and Liz the other night, as well yourself Betty.
I think it wonderful to hear a voice, share laughter, and i appreciate you all sharing that with me.

Enjoy your Knitting embroidery machine...one day i would love to see one of those machines run, how fun.

Hope that everyone enjoys the day today, I see Lots of friends must be busy as been quiet last couple of days.

Betty did you have a chance to check out that link I posted?
Murray Springthorpe grew up in Victoria Harbour..
there is a beautiful building that is in Victoria Harbour in the link in the article.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, just went back and clicked on Victoria Harbour..her description of Victoria Harbor and shores of Lake Huron confused me..

Yes, this is my area..the older building is just down the street from me..was donated by the Municipality and then given to the Seniors..just too large and immense for them to pay for upkeep and hydro/heat etc. so they gave it back to Tay Township..last year it was sold and renovations being done..it will house 'Real Estate' agents...they've done quite a bit of work to it..am sure they will do it justice, keeping a lot of the history...

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Betty..Lake Huron confused me too..but I guess Georgian Bay is part of Lake Huron..is that it?

Thanks for the background.

I've been trying to do some geneaology research for my neighbour....not having much luck.
Found some bits about my family on my father's side though.

Greg brought over a couple projects for me..lining in his floater suit needs to be repaired..then he purchased a beautiful snowmobile sweater that had a long turtle neck to it, hated it, so I cut half of it off folded sewed, can't tell it didn't come that way...also had a scanner/fax that I never used so he took that and managed to scam a few other things..now what's a mom for..lol

Jeff just left for the city, starting to snow again..bought himself a really nice guitar so played me a few tunes..

Boys just left, going for a bath and off to bed I go..can hardly move..somehow in taking snow off of shed roof I must have pulled musles ..ribs hurt to breath so a nice bath, pain killer should do the trick..

Must say I've had a wonderful weekend...nice to be inside, puddling around!

Best - having the boys for supper in celebration of our '1st Family Day'

Worse - ribs

What did I learn..Jeff is a kind hearted guy..asked me to make something special for the new little boy his ex. just had...(must take after his dad right?)

So dear friends, it's off to bed..
Hope you've all enjoyed your day..

I love when I don't overcook a roast or burn the bread, which I do often if I am doing too many other things at the same time. Nice mama Betty.

Girls I had today off of school but you won't hear from me as much so forgive me if I am perpetually missing important posts. If something big happens please dmail me or if you need prayer or something let me know. I have a lot of hours in school for this month only. Too many dropped out of my night class so they are only having two more classes of that, so this will help me not lose my mind. (it's already gone but you all love me anyway.)

I already miss you. I know I will pop in often enough.
