Judy- What lovely cards and gifts! I love the pic of you in the snow, your gloves are darling!

Ruby- Your chair looks so rich and inviting and your granddaughter is a dolly! Gardener in the making.

Sharon- You have definetly had some wild weather, glad to hear that you and the kitties survived the thunder. Hope you where able to make it to the store alright. I would love to see photos of your painting. Ethan is so handsome and what a frightening pirate he makes, hehe! I think you need a pirate costume too, you can be his first mate!

Betty- The ham, you crack me up girl!

Liz- No fun having a cold, you snuggle down in the blankets, drink lots of fluids and have some chicken soup.

Laura- I completely understand depression and anxiety I have been dealing with it for the past five years. Hang in there girl, we love ya!

Gillian- Sounds like you had a great slumber party! I helped my best friend with her daughter Makenzie's slumber party on Saturday night, we had a great time, so did all eight girls. Finally got them to sleep at 1 a.m. and they where awake promptly at 7!

Gita- How are you?

Jeannine- Glad to hear that your bruise is healing and that Murphy is staying out of trouble for the moment! Looking forward to seeing your completed quilts.

Dawn- You sachets sound wonderful!

Carol- Glad to hear that your kids are all safe and sound in the cold weather your having. I bet your looking forward to spending time with your granddaughters!

I spent the day visiting with my friend Myrna and her family and doing chores around the house. Hope we get some decent weather soon so that I can play in the yard. Hugs, Rachel

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rach, just coughed up my coffee...love it! Now Laura you listen to Rach..she knows where it's at...lol That garden photo is beautiful...

Dawn, mailed it out the day I did it..also mailed a towel exchange gift, she received hers yesterday so I imagine yours will be at your doorstep any day...sachets, how wonderful, can't you just imagine your secret pal making them for you? and, if not making them, going out to look for them knowing how much you'd enjoy the scent...hmmm... so exciting...No snow day allowance or sick day allowance..I work for BIL and he's a generous man..pays us for time off just because!!!lol

Just got in from shovelling but no call for snow in the forcast for today..marvellous..it's all forcasted for the weekend but that's ok..I've plenty to do should I become housebound..

Better get my act in gear..time to get dressed, get the vehicle warmed up, animals fed...

Hope to visit with you when I get to work...

Today is massage day. I find myself doing this, one of my favorite things to do from time to time. I will go regularly for a couple of months and then stop going for a couple of months, on and off like that. This is the on time. I will try and go once a week. I come out of there walking very upright and straight. The rest of the time I was a bit crooked. The massages are done at a Chiropractor's office. Starting last week they began using an infrared laser of some sort on my spinal column. I have to walk in place for eight minutes while the technician holds this doo-dad thingie and runs the light up and down my spine. I haven't seen any difference after one treatment, but I am hoping that it helps in terms of making my posture better.

We had icy rain yesterday afternoon. All of the trees are covered with icicles this morning, but the roads are clear thankfully. While in town I am going to buy a gallon of paint and next week my cleaning lady and I will begin painting my kitchen cabinets. I have never been satisfied with their color now which is a minty green color. I love that color, but against a sky blue wall, it is not cutting it for me. They are too similar in color.

I am going to get a paint called fawn beige which is a tannish color. I saw a kitchen a couple of nights ago on one of the decorating shows with this color kitchen cabinets and decided that it would look good here too. I am anxious to get it done. And of course I will take befores and afters. ha-ha

See how boring my life is? ha-ha I guess that I am inside so much during the cold months that I have too much time to find problems. Oh yeah, while I am out this morning, John is going to turn off power to the house and install a new bathroom vanity light fixture that I bought last week. The old got broken a few weeks ago and they no longer make the type of cover that was on it. So.....we had to buy a whole new fixture.

Well, just checking in. Will check back later this afternoon after returning. I hope that everyone is having a good day.

Ruby

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all,
Sharon
I am happy you liked the "cameo" I made of Ethan's photo.
I do have a Microsoft Picture IT! 2000 program that I use.

Rachie..thanks for the morning laugh....I'll bet that gave Laura a good laugh too. Aren't there labour laws in place that say you have to be allowed a break?

Ruby..elegant fabric..Nice to have a helper to paint the cabinets..I have thought about doing mine too..but mine have neve been painted so a lot of sanding and priming would have to go on first..and it seems easier just to say..oh there are fine. LOL.oh a massage sounds wonderful........

Betty hope your drive was ok this morning..

Dawn..lavender is a popular herb to put in sachets..I have a couple of plants and some times pick some and just crush it and smell it. A lovely gift from your Secret Pal.

How are you Gita? waving....... I was at our new Home Depot in Bowmanville yesterday, looking for a small decorative pot to give my friend to fancy up the orchid I gave her...found one with a primula in it..a sales associate came along and asked if she could help me..I told her my story..and said I woul just take the plant out and keep it for myself and give the pot to my friend.....well she said he had a couple of plants die and that I could have the pot for free to give my friend. She had already written it off.
How's that for service! Everyone is so friendly there..

Jeannine..what kind of remarks and jokes are you getting about your bruised cheek bone ..LOL..seriously..I hope it is not hurting too much...

Ok..have a great day,

Cheers,
Carol

Cardiff, ON(Zone 4a)

Well said, Rach (to Laura). You just made my day. It's amazing how children seem to have boundless energy.

Ruby, that fabric is gorgeous. You must feel like a queen sitting in your chair. I am so jealous of you getting your massage. One of the biggest things that I miss by living here is that there's no chiropractor. I usually visit my old one in the summers but one adjustment per year just isn't enough. I was actually thinking of becoming a chiropractor but decided I'd rather be a stay-at-home-mom instead. I'm happy with my choice. I often think of what I'd like to do when my children are all grown though.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

just hate being sick but off to work i go,boss in a meeting today whoo hoo going to be a quiet day :)

rachel, thanks is that photo in your yard? its beautiful! omg your comment to laura was classic im still laughing boy you didnt get much sleep on the party

ruby, my my the lady of leasure good for you pamper yourself you deserve it beautiful material

betty, hope today was a easier drive in for you, how is sailor doing, betty do you have that saw for glass its called cutters mate?
dawn, how cool is that from your secret pal

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Hey, All--

I am fine! Thanks for asking.....Been busy trying to get the d--n Bathroom painted! Can you believe it took THREE coats of paint to make it all look even? Like I said way earlier--I think I was painting Latex paint over a semi-gloss Oil paint. It just did not want to stick too well. They don't make oil paint any more, do they?
Frankly, it has been a pain in the a--. Too many narrow areas where a roller could not even fit--like between the med. cabinet and the wall next to it. I need to go back there with a brush and fill in a lot of areas. Used up a WHOLE gallon of paint! Have a little jar-full left for touch ups.

Took all the tape off late last night. I will wait a week or so to reattach the towel bar and hang my pictures back up. I want the paint to get more "cured" so I don't, accidentally, peal some of it off.

Ruby,
Love the red seat. I would love to have some red accents in my LR--whenever I get around to painting that! And recovering my DR chair seats is one way I am going to do it.

Please keep me informed on how painting your Kitchen cabinets goes. What did you do to prep them? Did you have to use TSP to clean them? What kind of paint are you using? Mine are walnut color and very dirty! Maybe some day I will paint them. Will NEVER have enough $$$ to replace them.....:o(

The color I used in my bathroom is also a pale taupe. It goes with the floor, the cabinets and even my shower curtain. Can't change the fixtures--they are all that "harvest gold" that was popular in the 60's and 70's. UGH!

Starzz--lucky you to come across such a thoughtful associate at your HD. When I was in charge of the Greenhouse, I would have done the same thing. Nowadays--everything is different....nothing much gets marked down and giving away anything would be frowned upon. I liked the way things were in the "old days" better....
I miss being in there! I used to think every day what HUGE amounts of Oxygen I was getting every day! The smell was always so fresh!
I still would not mind working in some smaller place with houseplants and customers. I am really good with customers because I am honest and always give then good information- Many times, it is something that is not commonly known as my brain just retains the unusual and trivial information I get from reading and listening to Garden Shows on radio.

OK! Time for some breakfast. Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

SUNS SHINNING! OMG what a lovely sight...Oh happy days! Calling for much the same tomorrow but think snow squawls in the morning Friday..now wouldn't complain if I had to stay home Friday..we only work 4 hrs so it's 3 to 4 hrs. drive in & home to work 4..whent he last gmt. got in they gave us a new February holiday called "Heritage Day" (family day) and it's Monday so long weekend for us..I'm excited...

Liz, my saw is called a Taurus 3 ... Jeff bought me it for Mothers Day about 5 years ago..love it. makes stained glass so very easy and quick....
http://www.huroniaartglass.com/taurus.html
hope you are feeling better today...Sailor is still pulling her hair..I'm not happy with her..I could not, even pulling her, tempting her get her to go outside last night..so you know what I found this morning in the basement, then I fought to get her out this morning, she was out for 5 while I started car, ran back in and not 5 minutes later she did pee/pee so had to use the rug cleaner..not sure what her problem is..only have a 6x8 scatter rug downstairs so worse comes to worse I can replace it for $80.00...gave her meds and salve this morning so we'll see what happens...once she's gone..NO MORE dogs for me! The cats tend to look after themselves...love them but.......

Ruby love the design in the material..so regal looking..bet you are pleased..cousin Doug up the lakes gave me 2 antique chairs..will be recovering the back and seat when I get them and will probably refinish the wood..looking forward to doing them this spring...what a sense of accomplishment isn't it...

Your kitchen cupboards will make such a fashion statement...mine must have about 5 or 6 coats of paint on them (from when I moved in) so, I simply got the sander out, sanded some of the high usage areas, some white came through the blue to the top maroon surface and it looks as though they were painted to look that way..french country...want to do a stained glass topper for between the 2 top units and they'll suit me fine..

Gillian, do you and family have plans to make a trip south again this summer??? or will visits from family suffice....the career you are doing 'at home mom' far reaches that of a chiropractor..you are so good with those 3 kids and those within your community...I could see that from our visit..all the patience in the world..

Shar, get that camera out..we're waiting...

Carol, what are you up to today-planning anything special with the 2 grandaughters...??? I've been waiting for work re my ex-DIL to see if she's had a girl..still no news..perhaps they'll wait for Valentines Day..hope not, no fun in having birthday incorporated with a special day..always felt bad for DS Greg having his New Years Day..then of course DH died New Years Day so rarely we celebratehis birthday (his request)

Lots of work Gita, but look how pretty and color co-ordinated the room will be..so many options with regards to updating your kitchen cupboards..they are built so much stronger than now days...keep them..I was thinking on the 2 top end doors to have the centers cut out and do stained glass for them, but decided to wait until I get tired of the look they now have..

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Ruby love the color, I have the same fabric in a golden taupe that I bought at Joanne's I think I'm going to make a valance out of it. Isn't it jusy silky! Enjoy your massage, aren't they wonderful.

Betty glad that you got to work safe and sound.

Gita please post pics of your new bathroom!

Well the sun is out and melting the frost away so I will be out in the yard for awhile today, wahoo! Have to go to the post office and grocery store as well. Hugs, Rachel

Glenview, IL

Hi everyone!
Rachel...I was laughing at your comment so loud, the guy across the way came to see what I was laughing about! Great way to start my day.

Ruby, I really love the material you have chosen for your chair. Wow!

Dawn, that was very nice of your SP, sounds very lovely, I wonder how long flowers do hold their scent, hmmm. you'll have to let us know. My pal hasn't posted yet...so I am getting worried about if the Post Office sent it!! Well maybe she will get it today. I hope so, and in my Birthday picture you can see the little Western boot and tiny box with a matching frame from my SP!! I just love them.

Oh, Liz...sure wish you could take a day off just to get some extra rest. I hope you are feeling better today. LOL, the only reason i had my pic taken with my winter coat is, My neice gave it to me at Thanksgiving, once day she asked me if it was keeping me warm. So I thought I would have a pic taken for her, Will be sending her a picture of how she kept Her Fave. Aunti snuggly warm...And check it out, it is "in" Style too!! I am so with the times again, ROLF.

Betty, Yippee, the sun is shining!! isn't it wonderfull, Just like getting a kiss from nature. Warming up too. Pretty soon we'll be out there in the gardens, oh how i can't wait! Now how come Sailor is pulling out her hair? Is it a condition or something, yow that must make you worry a bit. poor lil pup, I hope she stops this.

Oh, man they want me to do some LOOK ups again!! Heavy boredom...wish I had a big project, mine are ALL Done! So will see you all later.

Have a good afternoon....Waving hi to everyone, Oh Rachael and Gilli Thanksfor the B-day flowers I saw everyones -they will printed soon.
by for now.

BEAUTIFUL SHAR...
...Smiling for you, nice surprise!!

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

The comments (or lack there of) on my eye are quite humerous. Those that know me well are quick to say 'OMG, what happened to you'. Those who just know me in passing look at me with questions in their eyes but nothing on their tongues! I know they think I'm a batter wife! Which is not something to joke about but for those that know me, they know my DH is more likely to be battered then me! My boss told me that when someone asks me something I should get in their face and say "ya want to make something of it?" and see how they react!! LOL!!! The yellow is starting to set in so it should be gone by the end of the weekend.

Today is DH's birthday so I might be busy tonight. Betty , you asked me about the GPS system I got him. This one is just for roads and highways. We have another one on our boat that tells us the depths of the different waterrways we go on. This will come in handy when we drive up to Copperstown, NY in July. Well, gotta get some work done before leaving here! Chat w/ ya'll later!

J

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeannine, will have to look where Copperstown NY is..is it close to Buffalo border? Knew you'd get funny looks...

Shar isn't it nice to get those beautiful flowers..another reason to have a daughter..am sure that boys just don't think the same..know mine would never think, 'oh gee, mom's alone-send her flowers' lol..but that's ok..always went out and made DH feel extra special, so this year, instead of spending money on a DH, I'll spend it on me...nooo perhaps I'll spoil myself by purchasing glass or something because surely a plant in my house would die...lol..

Judy, waiting for my 'special friend' to get hers as well..I enjoy hearing of their receiving the gift as much as I enjoy getting the gift..fun/fun/fun!! Love your coat or rather 'parka' right? you did look very comfy..
I never bought high boots this year, not sure why, but noticed last night that Darlene had brought me a pair...always looking after me..got a kick out of June, always calling to make sure I've arrived home safely..feel like a little wayward chick...lol truly is nice though..

As for Sailor, I think they are hot spots..gets them every spring and every fall..not nice to look at..she pulls all her hair out and looks a mess..anyway I'll give her more allergy meds, keep her quiet and maybe it will pass...they wanted to give testing at the vets..around $1,500. geeze, love her to death but even if they tell me it's an allergy, or hot spots, the results will be the same with regards to meds...I'll call Lydia who makes medicines and ask her to make me another batch..rubbed some on last night, boy did my hands smell garlic..once Darlene burnt herself badly, Lydia told her to put some on and within 1/2 hr. (honest) you couldn't see where the burn was nor did it hurt..she took me for a walk and even just looking at different grasses/leaves etc she told me what their medicines did..so, worth calling her again..

It's still sunny outside..I didn't go for lunch..Paul and Wayne went out together, LeeAnn and Cindy together and usually it's always Suzanne and I..2 more days and she'll be back..miss her but am hoping her holiday is all she wanted it to be...

Few more hours and it's homeward bound..you have no idea what it's like to just say 'I'm off home' and not worry about the blizzards...

I cut out 2 more sets of 'butterflies' which I'm anxious to do but need glue to put the pattern onto glass so my car is parked at the $$$ store so will pick some up and maybe cut some glass tonight..it's frightening going to the $$$ store..one imagines coming out spending a few dollars...NOT..always come out spending between 30-50..always things I want for either the craft room, under the zink supplies etc.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, Cooperstown in kind of in the middle between Syracuse, Binghamton and Schenectady. Those 3 cities form a triangle and Cooperstown is in the middle. I'm not sure how far away from Buffalo that is but on the map it looks like about 2 and half inches! My husband HATES when I do that! We'll be driving and he'll ask me where something looks compared to where wwe are and I'll say 'oh, about an inch or two'!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Funny, then all you need to know is how many miles per inch..it's a cinch..will check it out..

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

morning,

woke with a headache,, yuk. i think i slept funny, you know crooked or something. will take something for it, happy valentines day! well it is today for us.
do you all buy gifts on valentines for more than just your partners???
over here its like for your husband or wife etc...

im waiting too for my SP to get their gift!! the mail takes so long from here! grrr should be soon tho.

well i figure the boss is just showing how petty she really is, she seemed surprised that i didnt get upset and even disappointed. meh.... who cares.... she is not worth the energy. My DH looks like he is getting a promotion soon so i look on the positives....

started a craft class with my DD on tuesday nights,... i am making a pumkin bag. no, its not for pumkins, i guess its just a round shape. its for knitting or nappies or what ever... it has wadding inbetween the material and seems easy to make.... its something to do.
they also teach quilting.... i dont think i have the patience or the concentration for that tho. lol

well i must get ready for work

big hugs and kisses to you all

xx

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds like fun Laura..now what happened to your wanting to try Stained Glass???? hmmm you know we could do an on-line project..I could help you through it just like we did with the sleighs...I did send you a book as well didn't I with the basics??

Hopefully you'll get your gift this week..

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

YEAH! My secret pal gift(s) arrived today and can I just say, they were very generous and sweet! I received a beautiful bone china coffee mug with pretty flowers all over it AND a sterling silver locket necklace! And it all came in this beautiful floral print box!!!! I LOVE IT!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

Wow, beautiful..aren't you the lucky one..bet your 'secret pal' gift made your day! Know mine did when I picked it up on Friday...so much fun....

Just got in, ride was wonderful, roads clear although I don't understand it, just as we drove out of our parking lots, bang/bang about 6 cars one into each other..no reason for it..roads were nice and dry?

Wanted to show you the herb pots..remember I bought them about 2 weeks ago, anyway 3 pots seems to be growing but not the other 2, am really trying..babysitting these pots, giving them lots of love, so let's hope I'll have herbs for the cooking that I don't do...

You'll notice I went a little crazy on flower packets as well...

Otherwise...I am just lovin you all! Arm wrap for VDay. enjoy and be happy. Love eachother up!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hi Guys.....I am sitting back and enjoying all the fun Secret Pal gifts and pictures and funny comments. Isn't it fun!!! A great thing to brighten up these rough weather days. Don't forget that we will end this first round of Secret Pals on the last day of February, so I hope all your gift giving and receiving will be done by then. Then on the first day of March, we'll start over with new names.

I am just really glad that we're all having fun. I love seeing all the gifts, too. You all are really creative with them. Well of course you are, we are a creative bunch.

Starzz, I am going out looking for that photo program, if I can ever get the ice out of my way. I love what you do with it.
Rach....your raised flower bed is wonderful. Makes me anxious for spring.
Ahhhhhh Liz, I love your beautiful face.
Ves...where are you?????
Gilli...you are so busy, but you are having so much fun. Your kids will always love you for it. I love seeing your pictures and hearing about your life.
Ruby, great fabric for that beautiful chair.
Gita....bathroom pictures....I think I posted mine when I tackled that little chore back in October. So we want to see yours.
Laura, sweetie....hang in there. And know we are always cheering you on.
Cat....where are you hiding???
Ahhhhh GG, endless possibilities with your black eye story! Sometime we need to talk about boats.....we spent about 25 years on one houseboat or another, loved every minute of it.
Dawn...you are sounding good, though I know this is a rough time for you. And you are so busy!
And Judy.....what a dear friend you are. So talented, so very sweet, we are lucky to have you in our lives. Thanks for the phone call, I forgot to ask if it was your new phone!!! Bet it was.
And so Miss Can't Cook, Can't Grow House plants, but Can Do Everything Else BETTY.....where are you tonight, did you fall asleep?? You are such a Sweetheart, you deserve a good sleep tonight, I just hope you made it to your bed before the zzzzzzzzz's. I am cheering for your little herbs that you will never use....you are so funny.

I hope i didn't miss anybody....I am missing Vicki, though....worried about her.

Something recently made me start thinking about my great aunt Bett who died in the early 70's. When I was little she used to take me with her in the wee hours of the morning up into the mountains to gather herbs before the dew dried. I am talking walking up a mountain at a very early hour. Well, one thought led to another and I found another idea for a DG article. So tonight I called my uncle and talked with him about Aunt Bett, to see if what I remembered was correct. I was only about 8 or 10, and wasn't sure how reliable my memory was. Of course my uncle is well into his 80's, but he remembers it as well....so I am off to write an article while it is fresh on my mind.

You all sleep well. I will talk with you tomorrow..
Hugs.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE....

yes I did go to bed rather early, tummy just wasn't right and no I didn't eat any of the ham...these special occassions get to me sometimes, the feeling of depression can enter ones life so very easily..know I'm not alone, know I'm loved and cared for by many but with all these surveys' and talk shows, and adds, lordy it brings back the loneliness...so rather than dwell on it, off to bed I went...

Just peeked out the living room window, no lights on in any of the houses, community looks pretty drapped in it's blanket of snow...no snow falling or winds blowing so perhaps yet another day of good driving...tomorrow morning though I'd like to see a 'blizzard'...aren't I terrible...

Judy, February certainly is the month for you to get spoilt..can feel the excitement right through this screen...hugs back to you! You certainly are making use of that telephone...

Shar hope you share the stories of Aunt Bett..funny the things we remember from our childhood...bet you enjoyed the talk with dear Uncle...

Animals are sitting watching me this morning so will feed them, pet them and then get ready for yet another day...

Will visit with you while at work...

Crozet, VA

Hi Friends - I just wanted to let you all know that in case no one has told you yet -
I Love You!!!!! Each and every one of you are so special and the things that you share on here make me feel as though we are sitting together drinking a cup of tea and gabbing.

I am amazed at those of you who have somehow figured out a system to speak to each of the posters here. By the time I finish reading, I have forgotten things that stuck out for me while reading the individual posts. I do not mean to "forget" to acknowledge people, but I am sure that I do. Today most everyone commented on my choice of fabric for the chair, and that felt especially good. Thank each one of you. See, I can't even remember who it was who said they had the same fabric in a different color. And yes, of course it came from Joann's, a place that I tend to get in trouble each time I walk in. They have such great stuff that I always over spend.

So, if you all worked out a system to remember what you want to say when you begin typing, please let me in on it. Last week I started making little notes on an index card but then got side tracked and never referred to the card.

Two people that I did want to especially acknowledge were Laura and Betty. Laura, You are doing great. Keep up the good work. I am amazed at how well the medications work. I know that there are some people who can't take them and I am glad that I am able to take mine because I would hate to think that I would have had to spend the second half of my life depressed, like I was the first half of it.

Second person I wanted to acknowledge was Betty. Thank you for sharing about being a bit down last evening about being without a mate on Valentines Day. Awwww honey. We love you. Sharran, I believe that you told me that you lost your husband recently too. I'd imagine that today will be difficult for you too. Smooches to you both. And hugs and kisses for each one of you today and especially those who have lost loved ones.

Enough for now. I hope that everyone will have a good day. Love to all of you!!!

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Off to work..but before I leave had to say Ruby, you made me cry with your thoughtfulness...a nice kind of cry though..so wipping tears as I head out the door....

Crozet, VA

Oh my gosh!!!! I spent many years as a single parent due to divorce and I know first hand how hard holidays are and other couple oriented activities. What normally doesn't faze us, can throw us for a loop on holidays. This too shall pass. Be careful Betty.

Morning..Happy Valentine's Day to all.

Betty,

You are not alone on this day....
I know how it feels..a little bit of a hole ...but you are surrounded by love of friends and family.

Ruby..beautifully said...I'm like you sometimes it is hard to respond all the comments..and the posts go quickly..it is easy to get behind..but I am sure everyone is just glad that you posted to say hello.

Sharon..I will look forward to reading your article on your experiences .."Up the mountain with my Aunt Bett"
Would love to hear about your living on houseboats.
That Photo program is really old..I got it in 2000..but there are all kinds of photo editing programs out there.

Judy you are such a happy bubbly soul...

Laura..so good to hear you are feeling better.

I had a happy evening with my grandaughters. Dana (9) made me a pretty hearts & Nana picture.
Kids are so cute..she made a Valentine card for her Mum and Dad too..and taped it on the wall for them to see as they came in the door from working afternoon shift ..and I thought of Gillian and her children as she was doing this.
I love to see the creativity and what the kids choose to design. Soon they will be all grown up..and I will miss it so much. My other grandaughter Hayley (13) loves to cook and she made dinner for us.

Ok..have a good one..
Hugs (((((((( )))))))

Hey Liz..we cross posted..Waving...feel better soonest!

(Cathy), MO

Good morning everyone. And Happy Velentines Day to all of you. It's just another day here.
I've been running around like the proverbial chicken who lost it's head the last few days. I at least get to stay in the office today and breathe a little. And tomorrow is my non work day so I'll have a long weekend. I am supposed to keep the grandkids Sat & Sun while daughter and hubby run away for their anniversary, so that'll be good. Love those little stinkers to pieces!
I have to add my thoughts to everyone elses Laura. There is nothing wrong with getting help when we need it. Whether that help is in the form of medicines, or counseling or whatever. We all have those times. And I'm really glad you're feeling better.
Sending hugs to Betty and anyone else who is feeling a little down today.

I'm starting to get a little concerned about my secret pal. I haven't heard that she got my "token" yet. Hmmm. Will keep watching.

Hugs to all on V-Day!.....and thank you too....

Hey! You all keep asking for pictures of my "new" bathroom! There's nothing NEW in there--just the walls got painted. I have no idea what area I could photograph to show you? It is a long-narrow room.
This B-room is so narrow that I can stand in the middle and put both my palms on the opposing walls. Not going to photograph anything.....There's nothing interesting to look at.

The color? Imagine coffee with about 3 creams in it--now make it just a tad grayer. That is the color. It got a bit darker when it dried. Have to wash the floor and the vanity top, reattach the heat vent and the switch plates and i will be fine. Will hang my big picture and the towel bar later. I want this paint to really, really set before i do that.

Nothing else of interest. VERY windy last couple of days! Right now thee wind-chill is 27. I keep having to chase my trash can lid all over everyone's yards. Yesterday everything was covered with ice from all the rains the day before. It has been below freezing at night now for at least 3 days. I sure am seeing a lot of birds at my feeders. Some of them look very interesting. Nothing rare! Just different. I have a book on birds--have to ID some of them.....Finches, all kinds of sparrows, Cardinals, Blue jays, Some kind of sparrow-sized bird with tannish/pinkish head and chest and a strongly striped belly????? Maybe a Redpoll?
Betty,
You get the snow--we get the rain! I sure enjoy NOT having to go anywhere in this kind of weather. Saves money too--not running around "shopping".....

Enjoy this LOVE-Day! Gita

shar are you near hanson? curious did they get hit hard in the tornado?

Just got to work..funny, Suzanne and I usually have breakfast at the 1/2 way point at 8am..I drive to meet the girls but they don't leave till 8am..wow, fast drive in..Paul directly behind us..when we all got on the elevator he said laughingly, "now what time do you girls start"..knows I'm at the mercy of the driver!!!

Got in and Wayne said DS Jeff had called, called in but he was just going into a meeting so didn't get to talk, told me he'd call me back later..was nice hearing his voice...

Brought some paper work in so that ought to take up most of the day and calm me down...

Decided that tonight I'd stop and purchase a nice present (for me), pick up dinner and enjoy the evening!

Suzanne is probably thinking about her last day away..they arrive tomorrow aft. - went by quickly...

Listening to weather forcast, so do want bad weather for first thing tomorrow morning...lol

Had a call last night from the Puralator company..they tried to deliver a package (birth certificate) on Friday aft. and I wasn't home..today is the last day before they send it back so I called this morning and they'll ship it to Midland and tomorrow aft. I can pick it up...thank goodness..then next week I'll drop in and apply for passport..last time I tried they wouldn't accept the birthcertificate because I had laminated it..so will be back on track with all of these documents..

Liz, glad you are feeling better and do hope you enjoy your trip tonight..as for the cutters mate..is that not the ruler set that you can angle for different sizes??? it is the saw you want right? Am sure if you bought one DH would never notice, just set it in amongst everything else..perhaps he'll think it was part of the equipment his dad gave you! Now there is an idea...yep..each time I go out now I'll be picking up seeds...when I was on the farm all along the road for about 200' was wildflowers...simply bought the packages, emptied them along the roadside and they grew..so along with my 'friendship garden' I think I'll drop in before spring to Lee Valley down the road..they have metal clamps that you simply add 2x4's and it makes a large star, then you add an upper layer which gives you yet another layer..fill it with earth and beautiful garden, so thought each section of the star with same colored palette? works out to be quite a size though so will wait until I can walk the back yard, see where the gazebo will go and if I can find an appropriate location for the star raised flowerbed...

Cat, sounds as though your weekend will be filled with fun and joy..grandchildren certainly are wonderful...now did you check back on the posts to see if your 'secret pal' posted picture or mentioned their receiving it?

Vicki you be careful driving..we had about the same overnight, didn't realize it until I opened back door...fluffy and light, took all of 10 minutes to shovel, thank goodness! So watch for those slippery roads...love the garden...

Gita, we've the same birds so perhaps they are starting to return home..I'll keep my eyes open..should put different bird seed purchases on my 'to do' list...not much area left on my door blackboard so better get out this weekend so I can erase!!! Either that or I'll simply paint another door..lol Never heard of a redpoll..no signs of any 'robins' that usually is our first sign of spring..

Shar, hope you are safe from the storms...
