Is it your fur throw that will be flying?
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - SB - cont'd
Is that like a magic carpet?
No. Its the poor cat. She already tried to hide out in here once and had a major confrontation with Emmagreyhound.
Its a flying cat not a flying faux fur throw. Im talking about real fur here!
How did I lose track of this thread??
Victor - another extension of the SB thread is needed and let's not lose Dave this time.
O.K. History Lesson. There was a time - a long time ago - before Victor arrived at Dave's Garden . . ..

That's cute. I was already here, Gloria! Signed up in Sep of '04. Pirl, I usually use 300 posts as my guide but if people are experiencing a slowdown I can do it now. It helps that there are not many photos on the scat thread.
Sorry Victor. I should say before I knew you were here.
No problem! I was lying low.
Hey! Someone read the Medlar article and she used to eat them all the time when she lived in Europe! Small world. Now back to my painting.
Cool! Isn't it native there?
Oh Victor...I just finished the movie "No Reservations" with KZJ. It was kind of a sad movie, but of course had a happy ending!
Did you like it overall?
Victor - yes, it is.
Yes, I did and so did DH, DS & Mallory.
Thanks - maybe I'll get it from Netflix.
Well - I painted the walls but they need another coat. I love Sherwin Williams paint but it is too thick out of the can. I was very unhappy that the contractor put up the crown molding before I could paint it. Makes a whole lot more work for me. The good thing is that I would have painted it with the high gloss enamel and it really needs flat. (I'm trying to make the 7 1/2' ceilings appear higher.) Got the molding up on one window. Have to get another piece of wood for the other window as it got cut too short. The doors already have the miter cut so putting the molding on should be easier. I'm guessing two more weeks - if the floor is in good shape underneath the rug. I see crocus leaves poking up - so I better hurry before it is time to work outside again.
Cat, I gotta do the trim in my bedroom too. Still haven't done it yet. I did manage to get my son's room mostly cleaned and organized. That was a major project! I haven't mosaic-ed (?) my bathroom sink yet... I'm worried I'll get mostly done and then run out of chips. Guess I ought to just get started.
I see some daffodil leaves poking up. Hey, what do I do with the Muscari leaves that grew last fall. They're still green, but laying flat on the ground. They're very bushy! The Montauk Daisy is growing leaves on the stems from last year. I guess it's a good thing I didn't cut it down to the ground.
Just cut off those Muscari leaves. They'll grow new ones anyhow. I cut them back every year.
Montauk Daisy should be cut to about 9" by July 4th so you don't have ground flowers when they bloom.
Thanks Arlene!!!!
Sharon - I love Jazz's story.....what a brave cat! And he's so beautiful! I never get tired of hearing cat or dog talk.....just speaking for myself! Gardeners just naturally attract cool animals, I think!
Pix - love Mr Green Eyes too......he really has pretty eyes!
Harper - I was wondering how the progress is going on your bedroom painting project.....it is so cool! Got any new pics to post of it??
Thanks, DB, and Jazz thanks you, too. Crazy cat, he talks back to me, mumbles and grumbles all the time, but if he loses me, he starts yelling.
Wwwwwwaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhh.....sounds like a sick heifer.
Well, what I think a sick heifer would sound like.
I really need to address his insecurities and his attitude.
Arlene - thanks SO MUCH for that tip on the caladium co-op! I have never done a co-op before, but I am ordering some caladiums and am so excited to have gotten in on this. I see that some of the other NE'ers have ordered some as well. How fun!! Thanks again! Louise
Still have not done a co-op. Don't know why, but I am reluctant.
Nahhhhh, Sharon....His attitude is part of what makes him so cool! LOL And no wonder he has some insecurity after the ride he took!! I'll bet he'll grow out of that in time. I love that he mumbles and grumbles....Our Molly does that too. Right now she's reading my DH the riot act outside because she wants to be in here so she won't miss the food, and he's outside with her trying to talk to a neighbor passing by. Rude!!
Victor - you can still get in on this one. If you read The Dave's post on Bill, the vendor for this caladium co-op, I think you won't be as reluctant. Bill is such a good guy....extremely helpful in his emails. The co-op prices are really good for bulbs this size. Today is the last day of the co-op.
I participated in one. It was my own mistake to order plants so far out of my zone. Bare root plants arrived way to late for Alabama - the heat had already set in here. But one of the managers of the coop was just so rude I wont go back.
I think you can usually find what you need if you use Watch Dog judiciously.
Also, I have split orders with friends locally to take advantage of wholesale prices. That way if you have to order 5 of one kind you can trade off so you get more of a variety.
Also you can save money by buying smaller plants as at Bluestone Perennials. You have to take care of them though until they are established.
Okay - I got in for the caladiums!
I saw! Somewhere, either on the thread or on Bill's site, he states how many to plant per pot and he gives the pot size. In a window box or planter it would be different but still he gives a guide for pots and from that point we can adapt.
I'll have to check that - thanks! I did not notice when they plan to ship!
I'd guess you and I would be very late April to early May.
Okay - thanks. I assume you start yours in pots indoors?
If I buy them early I do, otherwise I start them outside in pots. It takes about six or seven weeks until they look splendid.
I usually do them outside when it's warm enough. July before they look good for me.
5/22 planted them
7/17 looked great
(Checked my photos)
I liked the ones not on the coop list, his prices arent bad per/doz. ☺
Yay, Victor....glad you got in. I don't think we'll be sorry at all! I'm going to buy some elephant ears from him and maybe some other caladiums as well from his website. Bill was so kind to email me and ask whether I plan to plant them here or in NH. Now that's smart service - especially knowing he must be losing his mind trying to get all the co-op stuff together along with his usual orders. I am very impressed by him. I can't wait to get the bulbs!
Thanks Louise. Anyone else having weird happenings with dmail? Both Al and I experienced it. I replied in a dmail to Gloria on Friday and somehow it ended up as a last reply in a series of dmails to Dave (the). Similarly, Al had one meant for someone else come to me! At least it does not appear to be random - just goes to another person you have been dmailing with recently. Weird! I contacted dave about it. Hopefully he got that one!
Email has been impossible all day long for Zuzu and I. No way to get through at all.
Do you mean dmail?
