Happy Spring from Alabama!

Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - SB - cont'd
Beautiful, Gloria!
Gloria those are lovely and glad to see your OK...those storms were bad and we were worried!
Gloria - how lovely!! I second Pixie......glad to hear from you....been thinking about you! Everything ok around your area?
I heard on the news that there were more than 80 tornadoes in Alabama with those storms this morning. The tornadoes came in from Mississippi a little south of here. Usually storms move in a NE direction across the state, but these seem to have been on an easterly track. Many people were killed, homes destroyed, animals killed.
I just saw an interview with a man who said he lost his neighbors, 2 horses and 4 border collies. He seemed pretty stunned. His place was destroyed.
No damage here except I had left a pot I especially liked close to the back gate. The gate blew open and smashed my pot.
Except for the rabbit my animals stay with me, so they are at least as safe as I am -- all of us under the bed if it gets too bad.
Glad to hear you're okay but what a tragedy for all these families.
It's good to know you're okay and only a pot was ruined.
Well I really liked the pot!
Ah, but we really like you!!
thanks, Pixie. Im still here and so are my animals.
But, I wonder. Is all of this weird weather just because we cut the trees?
Tornadoes, hurricanes and other natural disasters have always occurred and will continue. Saw a bit of a show on History the other night about the War of 1812 and it was a freak tornado that struck the British just as they burned the White House. That was the beginning of the end for them.
Guess they shouldn't of tried to burn the White House!
True. The show stated that many of the Brits so it as a sign from God. Not much later their general in charge of all forces was killed by an American sniper.
Seems to have started around the time that they found the hole in the ozone layer over the Antarctic Gloria, when that 'EL Nino' struck and the ocean temps changed.
- Just a guess...
- Just a guess...
Gloria has flowers....I have pick up sticks all over my yard.
Geesh, looks like every tree around shed its limbs just like dogs shed their winter coats. And I still have the a/c on.
I hope you are all OK. Is there still snow up there?
According the the Australian permaculturists, the total biomass of forests is what controls the earth's climate. When we destroyed the trees beyond a critical point the climate went crazy.
At one point a major part of the earths surface - both tropical and temperate - was covered with forests comprised on huge trees. Now the huge trees are mostly gone and the critical mass of the forests has been reduced.
It's a good theory, I always found it silly that they cut down all the native trees in FL and then required you to have 3 trees on your property when you bought a house... silly. Now they try to replant the mangroves that were originally there to begin with. Those trees were important for many reasons but parking lots seemed more important at the time... ☺
Looks like they're getting ready for a development, then they'll probably put up a shopping mall near it to 'nail' the revenue, property taxes go up too. - worst case scenario.
I do think though that many things in conjunction control the weather, and we as a species have been doing more harm than good in all respects. But the bottom line($), is the most commanding incentive, (sometimes above self- preservation), we have, it sometimes overrides our natural instincts... and that is well beyond the control of most citizens. - unfortunately ☺
- Just a thought ☺
Just in case anyone is interested there are a few good co-ops going on now:
Cowpots
Watersorb crystals
Eon markers
Caladiums
I'm interested!! Count me in on the Caladiums, good for shade! - No wait that's where I'm putting in my new JM... drats!! ☺
Are the caladiums bulbs or plants? Bulbs, I would guess.
Bulbs.
Where pirl? ☺
ok - i had a grub nightmare last night, and i hold this thread responsible.
there were so many of them you could feel the ground moving under your feet - the ground couldn't even hold them all and some of them would wriggle up on top and creep along - as big as fat earthworms.
eewww.
Sure it was just a dream?
Thanks pirl!
Hope you took some closeups Amy! ☺
it was really awful and sick, and i woke up with a headache that threatened to turn into a migraine for most of the day...
so : P..
I guess that means we better not talk about any more disgusting stuff.
