Glenview, IL

Hi everyone,

Well, I took half a day to come home and do some sewing. I have been at it since 2:15, so am taking a break...but I think I am right on target.
How beautiful your window is Carol. Give such a comforting feeling.

Dawn, I hope your visit goes well.

Wonder, You just take it easy, it's the weekend! Are you applying some kind soothing lotion to your burns...Aloe is very good and healing.

Liz, your probably wiped after today...Geesh, describe this girl...I 'll come shop from her,heheheh-just joshin. What a bummer that happened, Used to love doing inventory when i work at the warehouse, know I am a little nuts but just nosey to see all the stuff.

Ves, Are you ok? I know getting in the mood to decorate can be overwhelming sometimes. I like decorating, it's the shopping I am not to particular with. But it'll get done.

Oh gosh, Betty so sorry to hear your day was so frustrating. I hope with a good night rest things will look better tomorrow.
...Just seems like somethings esculate from one thing to another, Will just have to keep good thoughts that everything will turn out for the best. A big arm wrap to you.

Best-Something new and slightly different...I like them much better!

Worst-I totally missed the toe and heal seam on one of the ornaments. Didn't realize it until the final peice added. Way to late to re-start and can't take it apart...no wonder I am "on target" I feel bad, but I think you will still like it.

Learned: I need to take a few more breaks, my eyeballs are killing me! Then maybe will remember all the parts, LOL

Think breaks done, one to finish and maybe something different, like, smooshing!

Have a nice evening.

Evening all,

Betty, I am so sorry your day was so rough. I would have been hopping mad too. Sounds like there's a ton of red tape with the Canadian gov. like the US. I guess I'm missing why they could not use a laminated birth certificate. I actually have a "credit card" type certificate that my mom got for me back when I was a teenager. I think that's all I used when I got my passport years ago and I think it was ok when we went on our cruise 4 yrs ago. I know how frustrating it is when one person tells you one thing and another something different. I know tomorrow will better better for you. Just know that if He didn't think you could handle these challenges, you wouldn't be faced with them. You're in my thoughts and I'm sending good vibes your way!!!

Well, I'll post later. Off to watch Friday Night Lights and Man vs. Wild!

Sounds like everyone is ready for the weekend, thank goodness it is here! Getting a Passport is crazy, I feel your frustration Betty! Carol- your window is gorgeous!

Well they are predicting snow for tomorrow, yippee! We will see if the forcasters are right for once.

I've been meaning to take pics and post them, will do my best to get some posted this weekend.

Rest well my friends. Rachel

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Lovely window, Carol, so cosy!!

You all have had a rough day, I think....but we all seem always to bounce right back, don't we. Dawn, I do hope you have fun with your company, and I hope they realize how much time you have spent preparing for them.

Awwwwww, Betty...when it rains on you, it pours......surely things will work out to your advantage. I am also sure everybody is praying daily for you. It is time for some good stuff now.

Hugs to all of you. Happy weekend.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Up and at it...all that wood needs to be turned into works of art..supplies put together for Friday...been working since early morning..once I do some shoveling it will be off to Midland to get more supplies..then a full weekend of work...I'm ready for it..keep me out of mischief..

Didn't sleep well last night but think I may have come up with solution..original plan before Art fell sick was to drive myself down taking my Aunt and her dog as she'll be spending the winter with mom in Clearwater..then on the 22 Mom and Jim would leave and drive down and Jim would return with me around the 30th..

Going to check with Jim, if he has his passport he can fly to Fort Meyers pick up the van drive to Clearwater and I'll leave here on the 16th or 17th as planned and take both mom and Aunt Muriel down..not sure about crossing border with my laminated birth certificate but perhaps a better chance..would they turn around 3 old ladies and 2 dogs at the border???? let's hope not...

later today I'm going to go on-line and see if I can't get the quick service which might get it to me, if they deem my application complete within the proper time frame..then believe me it's a passport office visit when I come back...what a downer...

I'm usually always on top of the world regardless of what is thrown my way..always look for the best side of the day but driving in the blizzard, while not feeling the best, worrying about Art and trying to do something nice for them just threw me for a loop..but, put my faith in the Lord this morning..he'll find necessary solutions...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Good Morning all,

Thanks for the compliments on my Christmas window.

Betty..sounds like a good plan. You are a determined lady.
I hope it all works out for you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got back from shoppping, spoke to Mom, she doesn't think Jim would want to fly on his own then drive the 150 miles north from Ft. Meyers to Clearwater..dah..he'd rather drive through blizzards perhaps for 3 or 4 states, 2 days on the road though...omg...I just might stay home...

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

sorry betty things are not going to plan, chin up.... the answer may well be to not go, or a solution is right around the corner!

putting up some xmas lights outside today, that should be nice. looking for someone to go with us to get the tree too! any tree you like for $25, i think thats a good price.
the other year my DH went to the xmas tree farm and he chose one. of course outdoor they look a lot smaller than they are and i said, "honey, that is a lovely tree but its so big", no it will be right he says, "i've done trees all my life". well that year you paid for the tree by the foot!

got it home and of course, to big!
ad to take it our three times to cut a foot of each time! my DD and i sat watching him giggling which didnt help the situation we know but we couldnt help; it. he got madder and madder until the tree came backt the right height but on a serious lean! we had tears pouring down our faces by then! so he cut some wood chocks and abut a dozen of them went around the base of the tree to straighten it. it was so wobbly it could hardly hold the decorations and what a mess on the floor from all the pine needles with the coming and going.... hahah funny.

well you have a good day
x

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, you'd better go with him sweetie...women have a better sense of size don't they..Dawn, no comment ....

Must feel strange Laura, as does it in the south, sitting by the ocean/lake/stream etc. and decorating for Christmas...here you know what's to come by the white fluffy stuff...

Understand another front is moving in tonight..warning everyone..freezing rain,snow/wind..but that's ok..I'll be safely inside cutting wood...I would say I've got about 1/2 done..of course I was in town till noon and then outside shovelling snow for awhile so tomorrow should be a piece of cake...

Laura, was thinking the same things..bad karma..maybe it's not to be..better stay safe here...

Will go back and read the post tomorrow and respond to you all..know you are all into the Christmas mood right now..so will call it an early/early night..

Enjoy your evening...

Best..got all my supplies home and 1/2 cut..
Worse..son came to help me put away a few summer things for the winter, had hockey, flat, etc.etc. things not going his way either so I got the, 'haven't got all my things done as yet' so off he went to get ladder, winter clothes on and by the time he got here it was done..he wasn't happy with me...oh well, been asking since late Sept.
Says I'll now not be able to move tomorrow..won't tell him even if I can't lol...just no patience for, 'we'll get it done later'..if it has to be done, do it today!...aren't I a major grouch..must be hormones...

What did I learn today...that I have no patience whatsover for people who always want/want/want and then you ask for help for 1 hr. and it's a major production..not just Greg..just overall...

OK OK OK..winter blues setting in...always go through this just after a major anniversary...seems things go wrong to make one focus on the fact that I'm alone and responsible for so much...

Come on girls, give me a smack..don't sympathize/empathyze with me...tell me to get off my butt and stop feeling sorry for myself...yep...that's the thing to do..

Talk in the morning...(Really not as bad as I'm making it out to be)...

You GO, GG....couldn't have said it better myself!!!!!

But we love you anyway, Betty.....

Glenview, IL

Evening!

Today quite the busy day! Slept late for a change, then proceeded to load the firewood for house, did some laundry, worked on gifts and
practiced smooshing technique...By George i think i got it, But Betty, I think it is the paint, went to look at sleighs you did and reread. I am using Acryllic paint but it is in the little cans, so Not as soft, but still look neat...Maybe tomorrow will go and buy paint from Michaels, then I will see a dfifference. Just got a fire going for tonight. Trying to decide if I should keep going or kick back and spend time in the kitchen with DH. Whatever he is making smells delicious! Earlier today, I almost choked myself half to death on watered down juice! Ha, thats what I get for rushing around, like it's gonna get done any quicker, NOT.

Betty, Why not? Everyone is intitled to a winter tantrum! You've had a rough couple of weeks, just seems like all at one time. It definatley is a bummer since you have looked forward to this trip all summer...If you are meant to go something will happen out of the clear blue sky, or cloudy which ever. But all i can say is tomorrow is a new day. All one can do is hope something will happen. In the meantime, enjoy today, the now and have fun during workshops.

Cute button GG! Hows the re-decorating going?

Today it snowed!! excitement for my DS who was out in it all day, he is gonna be sick, I just know it, but he had fun LOL.
...Took a picture for you Liz, will upload in a bit. Tomorrow will probably melt it all suppose to warm a bit around 45.

Sigh...thats it for now. Hope you all had a great day, Anybody else work on their sleigh?? You gonna show us?

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Finished the decorating. Did a few loads of laundry, the dishes and read a few magazines (Now I'm actually caught up to the December issues of Country Living, Cottage Living and BH&G.) Still have to get caught up on my Home Companion by Mary Engelbreit, I read it cover to cover, it is a fantastic magazine!

BIL and nephew came over. My nephew Kyle (12 y.o.) and I put together and decorated a gingerbread house and baked cookies. We all have been playing cards for the past hour (I'm taking a break and letting the boys play.)

Will write more later. Rachel

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Rachie..sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day.

Betty..I know the impatient feeling of wanting it done now!..it is a joke with my eldest son and I.
You will get over this ....it may be the disappointment of not being able to go on your holiday as planned..think about being cozy at home resting for awhile. You are overdoing things and must be exhausted.

Judy..great that your son loved the snow..it can be beautiful..at times..LOL

GG..loved your .gif..Snap out of it!...

Have a good evening all.

Cheers,
Carol

Glenview, IL

Hey Carol, are you cozy in your lighted room? Elegence was the word I was trying to think of. ..Nothin like that first snow fall!

Rachie...Cool, you made a gingerbread house? Awsom! did you take a picture? so we could see, funny I was just thinking we should a card game going around the fire here. but got to clean my table off first, grin...I think a movie is winning tho.

...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..It's a good thing you can only see this and NOT hear me singing it...LOL.

Wonder, nice you got your decorations up. Do you have different kind of decoration, or do you still decor..with snowy type items?
Candy cane, wreaths etc...Forgot to say DS made me a wreath for house! Had the electric co. come out trim treets so neighbor lost some pine branches an limbs. Will take a pic tomorrow, (can't believe I forgot how to spell that) LOL.

Hiya, Shar whatchya up too?

I WANT SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

xmas has always been summer for us. whilst a white xmas would be lovely, i dont think that i would like shovelling snow, driving in it or the wet slush of it all.

i went to the snow once at a place called lake mountain. there were white clumps along the road and i said to the family as we drove, look, even the rocks are white! they said mum! thats lumps of snow! oopps... never seen it you see.

ok betty, tantrum over and tucked in bed i hope.. feel better tomorrow.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

OK, guys....all finished now, just a tiny spot to do on the front entrance outside. Tree has 1600 lights.....over 100 large ornaments. I might never take it down. .......... if I cover it with a couple of sheets, I wonder if anybody will notice???

Hmmmmmmmmmmm......took me long enough to get finished, didn't it.
Now I can make my sleigh!!!!
Nite, now.

Well I'm up too late and really should be getting to bed but it's been ages since I've posted and I don't know how soon I'll get on again.

Betty, that's awful about your passport. It's weird too. My birth certificate is an old-style one that's laminated. When I got my passport a few years ago I didn't have any problem. I hope it gets sorted out quickly for you. We've been having a hard time getting Ella's birth certificate. I think it might have something to do with me having her at home without a medical practioner present. We went to the hospital afterward though and filled in the forms.

Shar, your tree and decorations are gorgeous. It must be so fun to share the excitement with Ethan.

Carol, your lights look so pretty. I finally plugged mine in. (I was lazy last year and didn't take them down.) I love looking outside at the Christmas lights.

Things here have been so crazy. I really need a break. I've babysat every day this week. Thursday I had a scare because (just as I had gotten Ella to sleep for a nap) DS thought he should share some of his Hallowe'en candy (an Oh! Henry bar - with peanuts) with the girl I babysit who's allergic to peanuts. Thankfully it's not a severe allergy. I gave her some benadryl and she was fine, however, I still needed to bundle everyone up in case we had to go to the hospital quickly. Then we reviewed the fact that he is not allowed to feed her and if he tries she needs to come get me. On Friday afternoon the school was closed due to low water pressure, which was actually sort of nice.

DH has been taking an online course since September. It will be nice because it will move him up to the next pay category but we've been letting things slide around the house because of it. I feel a little guilty because I really pressured him to take the course but it's a lot more work that I had thought it would be. Thankfully, it's done in less than 2 weeks so at least we'll be able to relax before Christmas. We're going away for our 10th anniversary on the 19th so we're both really looking forward to that.

Tomorrow we're going to a friend's house for an early Christmas dinner. There will be a few of us there so it should be fun. I love Sundays. It's so nice to have a day without the hustle and bustle of the rest of the week. Hopefully I'll be able to recharge for the coming week. I almost forgot to mention, my Santas are here. I told Sonora that we would make them next Saturday. Since Betty sent three, I think I'll let Ian do one too (with DH's help).

Ian keeps saying that he's a chef - it's so cute. We watched Ratatouille last weekend and ever since, he keeps saying that he's going to cook. He helped make spaghetti last night and today he helped cook eggs for supper. He has really started to help out more. He asks to do the dishes and to set the table. I figure that if he's offering, I'll let him. Often his sister will ask to help too which is really nice.

I better get to bed now. It's so nice to read everyone's posts even when I'm having trouble taking the time to post myself. Please know that I think of you all very often. I feel very blessed with each of your friendship. This flower volunteered itself in my garden this year. I'm glad I didn't pull it out while weeding. We often find treasures where we don't expect.

Morning all..yep in bed just around 6:30 last night..woke up at 1 and though jeeze I'm wide awake why not get up, but rolled back and ended up it was 5:30 before my feet touched the floor...

Thanks for listening to my tantrums..think it's partially because of the pain I'm in..but regardless...I'm going to make the best of today...

Just cut long strips of wood to be bradnailed onto the plastic I'm putting on back deck...upper body won't let me do a lot of shovelling so if I close it in then that's about 20 x 10 that won't have to be shovelled...

I've had 2 hot chocolates, went out to move my vehicle for the snowplow man, and now getting my compresser ready to bring outside for nailing and stappling..have both guns so once I get at it won't take long..

AC (lol) is still in dining room window..mad enough last night to try and take it out..NOT..much to heavy so there it will stay..not the end of the world and that brings me winterized for this season..

It really is so beautiful and cozy in here and looks so pretty outside...will take photo's and invite you in later today..

Shar..just love the decorations...Jeannine-thanks (and you should have a parcel any day) Liz (your Santa's are travelling as well) Carol..looks so pretty at your place as well..hope you are inside, enjoying your day today as the weather is not it's best...we've quite a bit of snow, bits of freezing rain and think it's forcasted for your region as well...

Gillian..glad your parcel arrived...I'll be around off and on next Sat. to keep an eye on your project should you need help...DH deserves a pat on the back for undertaking such a project...does that perhaps mean next year you may all be living closer to us?

Dawn..hope you are enjoying your company..all that fretting for nothing..and my thoughts are with you regarding your poor fuzzy friend...sent you a D-mail

One day Laura you'll have to hop a plane and visit, play in the snow...no, better come in the summer so I can show you Georgian Bay and all Ontario has to offer...

Rachel did you get your snow? Looking forward to seeing photo's of your decorations...Hi Cathy..what's happening in your world today???

Judy, glad you got the smooching..the paint is easily purchased at any craft store in little plastic bottles...there is more color pigment in them (especially when you purchase those that say "pure pigment paints" but any will do..think thats why it didn't soften as much..you are on the right track girl...

Hope I didin't miss anyone...if I did "Hi there"
Looking for my winter boots then off I go into the winter wonderland...then back in to finish cutting all these santa's...

Waving bye...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thought I'd come in for a break..don't want to just sit or that would be it..too much to accomplish and have made great strides this morning...just have to bring compressor down to basement on back porch covered in..let it snow/let it snow...lol...

Now, into dry clothes, a bite to eat and into Santa's workshop...if I can get through this mess by 5pm I'll be more than pleased..

Do hope you are enjoying something pleasant today in your lives...
