Stop and visit, talk all you want.

(Zone 7a)

Hope you feel better, Woofens. And if it's a better school then it is worth it.

Heather you're so funny about things. I used to be the one TAKING the blood. Men are the worst. They sit and complain about how the last person gave them a HUGE bruise and by the time they're done somplaining, I'M done and they didn't even notice what I did. I think you're girl was just being fourteen. LOL

I have to share a bit of news I got on my day off yesterday. My boss called and asked if I was interrested in a managers position. HR had called her because there is a position open in another location and she thought I would be good for them. Even my boss's boss thought so because he asked about me. I've only met this man once and I guess I made an impression. I won't find out anything until this afternoon when I go in. I had trouble sleeping last night thinking about this move. (If it happens.) LOTS of things would change but I've decided I can't think of one thing about it that would be BAD. It's a great location, just a little farther to drive every day. Thanks goodness for 4-wheel drive! LOL

Anyway, everyone having a good day?

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Just came home from the gym; my body hates me.

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

My day is better than yesterday, finally got my check (didn't get the address change in time so I had to wait to see if it was gonna get forwarded or returned). So now I can pay some bills and buy a new DVD burner for the computer (and possibly a mouse). My DVD burner quit a couple months ago (it had maybe been used 25 times LOL to burn CD's) and my right click button on my mouse is acting up :( Gotta get ink for the printer too. Sigh.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Gosh, JasperDale, what will you have to give your sister for some bearded iris? A kidney, maybe?! Woofens, sorry to hear you're coming down with a cold. Make sure you drink lots of orange juice and stay warm. Good idea to have that extra key made, too.
Poor SacValley! You didn't do too much too soon, did you? Hey, at least you went to the gym--the people at mine surely think I moved away. LOL

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Kywoods, I added 7 min to both the rowing machine and the stairmaster; which now gives me a full hour.
I spent the afternoon putting extra support braces under the house. Crawling on my belly, dragging a jack and 2x4 braces, putting the braces in place while my DH screwed 'em from the top. Lot'sa spider webs and dirt under a house.
Looked at the clock and had hoped it was time for bed..but noooo such luck it was only 8:45! Going to go watch the Sac Kings lose another game while I veg out .
Good nite to all!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Just wanted to tell everyone howdy and that I got the stuff for my GH today.
kwanjin, I went to Lowe's today and left with a cart full of hostas, and one other plant, but thankfully DH was there to help with all the big stuff! Hope you are better after your bad trip yesterday!

(Zone 7a)

MUCH better today, Misty. I'm not holding anything against them.

Got tickets to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra today. Woo Hoo!!!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Lucky you, kwan! My sister and BIL see them every year, and they bought us a video. What an incredible show--such talent!

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning All :)

Well, I've got pharyngitis (sp?) So I can't talk, my throat hurts, and I feel like butt, basically, and I found out last night that Mike's daughter and grand daughter are coming to meet me and the kids tomorrow (Mike and I were together for about a year before and a couple months now and I've never met his daughter). So I've got to get some stuff done around this house, and all I want to do is sleep :(

Went yesterday and bought a new CD/DVD burner, and ink for my printer.... got home installed the burner, then the ink, and guess what? My printer has gone bad :( One of the ink cartridges contacts has gone bad. So NOw I got almost 70$ worth of new ink, and none of the printers I have found so far uses those cartridges. I found 2 printers like mine on eBay, but I'm leery of buying a printer on eBay. Sigh..... So who knows how to fix a printer? LOL

Anyone got ideas on a new reasonably priced all in one printer?

Janis

Glenview, IL

Kwan, wow that is wonderful news you got! Have you decided what you you will do yet?
Janis what a big bummer on the printer, I wonder, have your tried cleaning the heads? Look at the head, you may just need to push the little pins in, my kid did that with an ex-box he found in the trash, and now he has a perfectly working game. Now, I am no expert here at all but might be worth a shot.
So sorry to hear your under the weather...nice cup of tea with some lemon perhaps. Hope the first visit goes well.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Hi all. DH found this and I just had to share it with the fellow gardeners! Misty
A teenage granddaughter
comes downstairs for her date
with this see-through blouse on and no bra.
Her grandmother just pitched a fit,
telling her not to dare go out like that!
The teenager tells her
'Loosen up Grams.
These are modern times.
You gotta let your rose buds show!'
and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes down stairs,
and the grandmother is sitting there with no top on.
The teenager wants to die.
She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over
and that it is just not appropriate....
The grandmother says,
'Loosen up,
Sweetie.
If you can show off your rose buds,
then I can display my hanging baskets.

Happy Gardening.

(Zone 7a)

LOL That's a good one, Misty! I've passed it on.

Seed, I still have to apply for the position on Monday. So we'll see then.

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Kwan, congrats and good luck with the job. I hope, if you get it, that it's better than you ever expected!

Woof, you certainly are having a bad time of it this week! I agree that a cup of tea is in order, but a few laughs too. Nothing makes us feel better like a few laughs. Go sit down for a minute and turn on America's Funniest Videos. That always does it for me anyway. Take a super hot bath before bed tonight too. Hey, we'll get you all fixed up in no time! :)

Now I lost track of who's working out and crawling under the house and who's building a gh. I'm jealous of the gh, but not the crawling under the house!

Ok, I got some super-sweet news that I've just got to share with someone! My DB and his GF (hopefully soon to be wife!) are pregnant. They live near Philly, about 5-6 hours from me. I wasn't thrilled at first, I admit, just because they aren't married. Call me a prude if you want, I don't care. Anyway.......a baby is a baby, and a baby is a blessing from the Lord. So, I'm happy. Then they tell me that it's GF's idea to name the baby Joy Heather if it's a girl....which is my name, only reversed. I'm Heather Joy, lol. When they told me I just lost it, bawling and sobbing and carrying on. GF and I were on the phone talking, both crying so hard that we couldn't understand what the other one was saying.

Yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from the GF that she just had her first sonogram. They had just left the hospital and were sitting in the parking lot. They are going to have a girl!!!!!!!! Now, I know that sometimes the sonograms aren't 100% accurate on the first one, and I didn't get to ask if the baby showed clearly what really matters in telling boy/girl....but, I'm so excited.

We were going out to dinner when they called. After dinner I had to go shopping for baby. Who couldn't? Her due date is March 7, so I've got lots of time to shop and crochet. I just can't wait till this little one gets here. I keep wanting to buy the baby's first Christmas ornaments and stuff, but have to remind myself that she won't be here by Christmas, lol! Oh, this is so much fun! It's kinda like having grandkids without having kids first.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

That is soooo sweet, Heatherjoy! How exciting, and I don't blame you for running out to buy stuff. They must really be crazy about you for naming her after you. Just curious--have they talked about marriage? I have a friend who just had a baby, and she's been engaged all during the pregnancy, and living with him. She said she didn't want to be "fat" in her wedding pics, so that's why they postponed the wedding. LOL Definitely not the way we were raised, but, I agree, a baby is always a blessing.

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

HeathrJoy! That is great news! Congrats! I had my first baby before his dad and I were married, we didn't mean to get pregnant, but we had already decided to get married after he graduated college. So hopefully they will get married?!! Dean and I followed our plans, and married the week after he graduated college, DeWayne was 20 months old.

I'm kinda freaked out about meeting Mike's daughter and grand daughter tomorrow! LOL I am just kinda of wiggy about him being a grandpa LOL Geez, I've dated guys before that were grandparents (and I've got a 17 yr old so God forbid I could become a grandma at any time) but its weird this time. I love Mikes son to death, and my kids love him, and he is great with the kids, but Brandy is more like her mom from what Jason and Mike have said (and I can guarantee you that I would NOT like Mikes ex wife, but I'll probably never have to meet her) Sigh..... It'll be ok right? The worst that can happen is that she hates me on sight, but I don't have to worry that it will cause problems between Mike and me, cause she lives 5+ hours away and hardly every visits.

I want a greenhouse!! I'll have to drop a couple hints about that after Christmas. I got to kind of be good til Christmas, between asking for the Kitchen Aid Artisan http://www.thisnext.com/item/5339D406/Kitchen-Appliances-and-Gadgets mixer and taking the kids to Disney World. (and my car can't forget that LOL)

Glenview, IL

stopped in to see whats up!

ahahahha...that is just funny had me laughing out loud..thanks for sharing Mist! hehehe.

(Zone 7a)

I was only away for a moment and look what happened! Somebodies GF got pregnant and somebody had theirs and then got married!!! LOL Too much! Congrats on the "grand baby", Heather!

We had a disaster at our house. My new GH fell over while we were gone and busted the 2 potted trees that were in there. DH grabbed some plastic pots and helped me repot them so I think they might be okay. We moved the thing against the house so the wind isn't so bad now. Whew!

I agree with lots and lots of hot tea, Woofens.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, noooo, kwan--must've been a strong wind! I sure hope the trees will recover quickly. Sounds like a good idea to have the greenhouse up against your house. I will remember that if I ever get one!

(Zone 7a)

Only a little portable GH. Everything appears fine. No big.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Congrats to all of you with the good news, and good luck!
My green house is almost done! I am exhausted!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

That's nifty! I've always wanted something like that to start seeds in, in the basement, with light fixtures in it.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Heatherjoy, this will be the best time in your life! grandbabies are wonderful!! My GD is just over two and GS is 7 months. Nothing more precious.
Sorry about the GH; glad alls well.
I was back under the house for 3 hours, floor jack, 2x4s, and swear words. The end is no where in sight.
pour the wine, so i can whine.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I've been away from the computer for three whole days and y'all have just all gotten into so much (good and bad) that I can't possibly comment on everything! LOL I'll just say congrats to all for the good stuff and sorry for those who had some not-so-good things happen. I do want to say to heatherjoy that the little baby girl is certainly going to have a pretty name!
I'm just wrung out after spending 2-1/2 days at my MIL's house, getting her to the surgery center for her test, etc.--nothing major wrong but several "little" things, she is after all 81--but it would all be so much easier if she were a different, how shall I put it nicely--if she were a different personality-type. At least she wants to be independent and take care of herself--clinging vine, she's not!. That's all I am going to say about that--I'll spare you all the nitty-gritty details. Thanks for letting me "vent" a little--I feel "safe" doing it here--after all, who can you possibly tell? LOL
Beautiful weather here, still warmer than normal although we did have our first freeze last week which took out the remaining blooms on my roses. Time to start concentrating on the new flower beds we are getting ready for spring.
Today I am going to do someting nice for myself--haven't decided what--any ideas from anyone? and something that doesn't cost anything? LOL!! MMMMM, something chocolate perhaps? I do have some chocolate chips. Maybe I'll just eat the whole bag! LOL! Maybe I'll make some cookies--getting hungry just thinking about it. Chocolate always makes everything all better--kinda like having your momma kiss a boo-boo! Only my momma's in heaven so I can't call her--sweet woman that she was. As the minister said about her at her funeral--"She was utterly good and utterly kind." True, true. I still miss her and it has been 25 years. She died too young (at age 68) in a car wreck.
Well, listen to me feeling sorry for myself! It's juat a temporary thing--I don't usually allow myself time to feel sorry for myself--too many blessings in my life for that! DH, who loves me and is my soul mate, is certainly number two on the list. Number One, of course, is my Lord and Savior!
Many other blessings, too, so I refuse to feel sorry for myself, except occasionally, LOL!
I've rambled on enough--y'all have a good day--and be blessed! I'm going to do the same!

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

I"m glad to hear the little gh and trees weren't damaged.

Woof, don't worry about meeting them. Just relax and be yourself. They will love you, and if by some off chance they don't that's ok too....their DD/DG is old enough to make his own choices! I know how hard it is to want to make family like you, sometimes I feel like I'm still doing that after 15 years, lol.

Speaking of all of that stuff, has anyone seen "The Family Stone"? I finally watched it (most of it) last night. It was good, but I felt sooooo bad for that girl.

Marsue, be sure to let us know what goodies you made! You made me hungry for chocolate just reading your post. Mmmmmm.

I don't know if DB and his GF have/are talking about marriage or not. DB has had 2 bad marriages and an engagement that also ended badly. *Sigh*. I know GF has been married once. When they visited in August there were little whispers of them having a baby sometime, but I assumed after marriage. Honestly, I think they are both fearful of marriage, which is certainly understandable. I'm pretty sure this baby is a happy surprise for them and wasn't planned. I'm trying to think how long they've been together and it's been over a year, but I'm not sure exactly how long. The relationship isn't new anyway, they know each other. In this life things don't always happen as you plan them, but that's no reason not to be happy about them!

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

Hi marsue, I am busy getting some quilting done and haven't been checking the boards. Let you self feel depressed if you need it, holding it in isn't good. Then have the chocolate too! I miss my Mom and it has only been 5 years. I know from friends that you never get over losing your Mama!

We are still having beautiful weather here too. Hasn't froze yet and I bet it will be one of those years that it waits until after Thanksgiving. I hope so. I am making fall placemats to use on TG. And still doing a bit of fall cleanup daily, so I won't check the forums as much this time of year. Congrats on the grandkids! I know my sister sure enjoys hers. I just have grandkits and a granddog!

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

heathrjoy, I feel like the best things in life, when one looks back, are the ones that weren't planned! I love your last line. This is one of my favorite quotes from a Debbie Mumm book, "There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things" isn't that grand? LOL!

(Zone 7a)

Glad everyone is doing well. Weather here is turning rainy. I still need to get the last of the fall cleanup done but there's only a little bit.

In honor of Veteran's Day, DH and I went to a free concert put on by some local High schools and military bands last night. Everything from Sousa to the newest country patriotic songs. So much fun! DH has a DB in the National Guard who was in the Honor Guard for the show. They are the ones who bring the flags. Such an honor to see all the military present. We met several Generals and a local ex-governor. Don't know if anyone remembers Jake Garn who went on one of the space shuttle missions. He also used to be a Senator for Utah.

Getting nervous about Monday when I find out about and apply for the new position. Yikes! LOL

Good luck, kwanjin!

(Zone 7a)

Thanks!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Time's almost here, how are your nerves?

(Zone 7a)

Don't do this to me! LOL It's bad enough already!

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

LOL Sorry. Please forgive me! :( I am sure that all will be great!
I am whooped, this GH was a lot more work than I had planned!

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Good luck, kwan. Let us know how it turns out. We are pulling for you!

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, marsue! :-)

Dillonvale, OH(Zone 6a)

We wanna hear job news!!!!

(Zone 7a)

As of this morning, I still haven't heard anything except that my boss's boss asked her a LOT of questions about me. But the thing is, I have to apply online for it and it hasn't been posted. So I don't know what's going on. (That's my whole life though. LOL) I don't go in until 1pm today, so I'm going to call and find out "what the heck".

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Keep is posted Kwanjin! And best of luck to ya! Misty

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Misty. How's the weather out your way? We've been having very mild weather so far except for some light frost. I still have stuff blooming in the yard, including my roses.

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Anytime, Kwanjin! The weather is pretty good really. We have had some nights get down to the low 20's, but just a few. Then the rain yesteray. BUT, my GH is holding strong! Just need to get the door done now. My honeysuckle is still blooming, and my Stella, and some unknowns. It is nice to still see flowers this time of year! I will have to get my unknowns on the ID Forum so I know what they are. I am still so impressed with my mini GH with my Impatiens and Begonias, just as beautiful as always, and still growing!

(Zone 7a)

That's great! I'm trying to decide if I should clean out the rest of the wildflowers garden or just leave it until spring. I left it last year but boy was it a mess to clean out. A cat had chosen that as his personal toilet. Ugh! LOL
