Stop and visit, talk all you want.

(Zone 7a)

WOW! What's the tree just left of center on the bottom? You have done yourself proud with all the hard work.

Glenview, IL

wow! Christie, I love your garden...great containers on the porch back there.
Did the last of my cleanup yesterday...but I am sore from sewing..started Friday night and all day Sunday! All the pinning, cutting is done on the floor, so my bones and muscles are SCREAMING at me!! So kick up you feet and catch a movie with us.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Congratulations Laura!!!!!

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Kwanijn, I think you mean my true dwarf nectarine tree. I had more fruit than I could eat this year, I guess the cold winter had a purpose after all!

I am glad to see I am not the only person with sore bones and muscles!!! My DH thinks I am nuts for doing it all myself. But my credo is " if it needs to be done GOOD, do it yourself" !

Love that garden. Keep the pictures coming.

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Your garden is great, too.

I'm sore and tired today, too, because yesterday was 'clean the yard for winter' day at my house. I cut off so much stuff. I more than filled my large garbage bin. I found some places to plant some iris, too!

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Flowrlady, That's what I did. I pulled out all the lavenders; they didn't perform so good, and my aim is to have one of each plant that will grow in my zone, so no room for 25 of one and the same plant!
DH is afraid I will order more plants now, and right he is!!!!

(Zone 7a)

Thanks Mrs colla. People must love walking past your home. I wouldn't make it past. I'd have to stop and I'd forget where I was going.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Oooo, pretty! I have a colloquialism for ya--I'm sitting here in the library at school, and the girl at another computer is having trouble, and suddenly calls out, "Son of a biscuit eater!"
LOL, I haven't heard that one in a while--anyone have an idea where that one originated?

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Yes, it's slang for, Son of a b**ch. So Biscuit Eater is more my style!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, I knew that, FlowrLady, I was just wondering where it started. Probably nobody knows where a lot of these silly things start!

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

I guess one 'sounds like' the other.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Yep. I prefer my biscuits with honey, though. But you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar...

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Wow--I'm gone all day and just look what y'all have done--36 posts after mine this morning! That makes it hard to catch up LOL
kwan and seed--y'all can have all the scary movies you want! Not for me! The last one I watched was Silence of the Lambs back in the early 90's. Never again! No way! My best friend in junior high and high school used to drag me to every scary movie in town but that was back in the 50's when scary movies were nothing compared to the movies today. Then when the first Alien came out, I made her go see it with me and it was scare, scare, and scare again! I swore that was my last scary movie till another friend invited me over to watch Silence of the Lambs and that was most certainly my last scary movie. No More, Finis, and THE END to scary movies.
Those are great photos of your flower garden, Christie. They should be in a magazine about cottage gardens.
Oh, BTW, who is Laura that somebody up there congratulated? I must have missed something.

That "biscuit eater" thing has been around for awhile, like at least from the 70's. Somebody probably originated it because they didn't want to say the other phrase in front of their kids. That's my guess, anyway.

P.S. I like all the kitties.
kwan--that's one "fat cat"! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Marsue, I have a SIL that hates them, too, which is very odd since my DB and I share the same taste in flicks. He LOVES the scaries and so do I. He has to watch them alone so I get phone calls in the middle of the night asking if I've seen such and such a movie. I don't mind cuz I do the same to him! LOL He is part of the reason we may move to Oregon or Washington.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

I don't blame you, Marsue, the last scary movie I saw was "Sixth Sense", so that was many years ago. When I started living alone after the divorce, I had to stop watching them. LOL

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I loved Sixth Sense! But I hate those chainsaw type of movies. Hey marsue, I stayed away awhile too and the posts took some time to read huh? LOL! I am tired too. Sounds like we are all in fall clean up mode. I am trying to catch up house cleaning before the Thanksgiving company. I really let things go this summer because I had medical problems. I am trying to get out in the yard every AM and clear out a bit each day. I can't do a 9 hour day like I used to do! Good night all!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

You know how the kid in Sixth Sense saw dead people? Well, I have a coffee mug that says, "I See Dumb People". Found it at a Hallmark store.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

LOL! That is a mug we can all relate to! ; ) I just got up and am still tired. Fall is my worst allergy season and allergies make me so tired.

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

marsue, I watched Silence of the Lambs in honor of Halloween this year. It always has something in it I missed the first time. Anthony Hopkins is awesome. I like Every movie he does!

Did you see the sequel to SotL?

Glenview, IL

Good Day!

Marsue...I don't do slashers, oh yuck they are just so gruesome...That movie was called Ghost Watchers...And I stopped playing it before the intro credits even started...nope not watchin that...I do like a good scarey flick, Silence...creeped me out pretty good...So opted to watch Driving Miss Daisy, now that my speed, LOL.

Mrs. C and Flowerlady.. sure hope you feel good today, not so sore after all your hard work.

...Back to work today, have a good one all!

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Thanks, seedtosser. I seem to be okay. I went for my weekly chiropractic adjustment yesterday afternoon. He said my sore back was from the work in the yard! But I'm fine. You're sweet to say that.

(Zone 7a)

Seedtosser, so you didn't watch it, huh? Stay away from The Reaping. DH and I watched that last night. We liked it but it was VERY creepy so if you don't like those...

I have to share this. This is my nephews daughter. Her name is Rainey and just as cute as can be. It was a sunny day at the beach and I asked her to smile and got this.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

cactus, do you take vitamins--if not, maybe a good multi-vitamin would help perk you up.
Seed, Driving Miss Daisy is more my speed, too, although one Jodie Foster movie that I really love is Anna and the King--watched it again last week and cried again! Great movie!
FlowrLady, I have not seen the sequel to SOTL--I just can't bring myself to watch another suspense movie--raises the blood pressure! LOL
kwan--your little niece is just precious--looks like it was a windy day at the beach, too. BTW, where is there a beach in Utah?

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Wow! She is really 'soft' and pretty.

(Zone 7a)

We have the ever popular Great Salt Lake! Too stinky to go there, though. This was at Cannon Beach, Oregon...where the sunsets are beautiful.

Thumbnail by kwanjin
Glenview, IL

Oh my goodness, Rainey is just adorable! How old is she? 'bout 3? I love sunsets, and that one is splendid! I'll share one of mine...it's from summer though one of my faves.

Flowerlady glad to hear you are without pain.

Yep Marsue...I adore Jodie Foster...so Talented, I'll have to check out the King and I again...always a favorite with me...Did you catch her new movie yet? I have not but really can't wait to.

Thanks for the warning Kwanjin...Definately won't watch the Reaper...

So how's everyones day going? I am keeping busy, lots of paper to shuffle,LOL

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
(Zone 7a)

Yes, Seed, she's three. My real name is Celia and she kept asking the whole time we were there.."Where Celala?"

Your sunset is wondeful! I have one I took and it's in the contest.

Have to go to work now and don't have e-mail there so I'll just have to see what happens later tonight.

Bye all!

Thumbnail by kwanjin
-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Wow! That is an unbelievable sunset. I haven't come to it yet. I'll keep it in mind :)

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

Beautiful girl and sunsets! I entered one of my sunset photos in the contest too. I have been cleaning all day and then trying to learn how to do all the thing my new MP3 player will do. I think if bought too large a player. I put almost 700 songs and several photos and it isn't even half full. It is like learning a new computer to me. And yes, marsue I do take vitamins. But have had allergies since I was a child. The main side effect of allergies and of the all the meds I take for them is tiredness. I am used to it, but in the middle of winter and summer when they are less, I get so much energy and then in spring and fall I feel like I am creeping along.

(Zone 7a)

Cleaning, ugh! Don't get me started. I have dustballs the size of small kittens! And no clue what to name them. Been laid up and just now getting about when I'm not working.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Sorry to hear that you have been laid up, kwan. Hope you are feeling better soon. I need to get some cleaning done, too, cactus. I love a clean house but somehow my genie hasn't materialized yet to clean it for me! LOL I wonder what excuse I can find for not cleaning today? LOL
Y'all help me think of one, quick!

Edited to say: I just thought of a great excuse: I have to finish voting in the DG photo contest and we all know how long that takes! LOL

Goooood Morning All,
Well, I'm still here, surviving reno hell somewhat. I think I found a few things I could make using the crock and I'm glad to know that I can get away with not browning meat (thanks Woofens) because there's no where to do anything that fancy, lol. I feel like I'm camping! I got some premade roti from the place down the street, and i can fill them with my own potato & meat concoction. Thanks for the recipe link cactuspatch!

I love the sunset photos and mrs.colla, you have way too much colour in your garden...I think you should send some to me! We're freezing our petunias off up here and north of us got the snow. Betty did you get some of the white stuff?
We're heading out of town this weekend to get away from the house.....going to Gananoque to a nice hotel with hot tub and we'll stop by the casino there to make a donation ;)

Other than that, I've been cross stitching two projects. I'm making a Thomas Kinkade "End of a Perfect Day" for DH and for fun, I'm making one called "Snowman Kit". Here's a visual of the two:

kwanjin, I too hope you feel better soon! Very beautiful little girl :o)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Yoostoo- as in "I yoostoo do cross stitch, sew, crochet, knit befroe I had three kids and a garden obsession" LOL
Erynne, is the TK a kit with part printed? I sure hope so for your sake! The last thing I Xstitched was a small kit with part printed, and it came with a piece of glass to frame it so no need to buy that. It was quick enough to acomplish with the time I seem to have lately and I thought nice. Now I'm wonderring if I shoud look for that kind of thing and commit to it for Xmas present(s).
Good day, all. Its chilly but sunny here.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

Yoostoo! I love that expression and I will have to start using it! I, too, "yoostoo" cross stitch but it is, according to my opthalmologist, one of the hardest things on your eyes that you can do. So-o-o, I don't do it anymore. I did do a couple of pictures for my BFF(best friend forever) a couple of years ago. They were the "Dolly Mamas" and one of them said "When did my wild oats turn into shredded wheat?" and the other one said, "Put your big girl panties on and deal with it!" LOL My BFF loved them--that sort of thing is right up her alley. By the way, I am 9 days older than she is and she never lets me forget it! LOL

That Thomas Kincade xstitch is certainly an ambitious undertaking if you have to xstitch the whole thing. I love the Snowman Kit--all you have to provide is the snow! LOL

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

P.S. Erynne: I hope you enjoy your getaway this weekend. You deserve it!

(Zone 7a)

Thanks, All, for the well wishing. I had foot surgery about 10 weeks ago and haven't been able to get out like I wanted. DH has been doing most of the outside stuff for me. I sit on the sidelines and direct. Such fun. But I get out now and do it myself and, BOY, is it a pleasure! LOL Hmm...except now he expects the house to get cleaned. Oh well.

I have to try the crockpot recipes. They look yummy. And easy.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Speaking of crockpots; my sister shared a most wonderful thing w/me...did you know that you can buy crockpot liners? Best invention ever, they are a 'bag' that you put in the pot; zero clean up. Buy'em in the section w/the ziplock and oven cook bags.
