she turns 66 today then the silly girls didnt show up or call so maby the'll come by this evening

Sunrise this morning in Western KY. Yep, you guessed it, Ethan is here....we were outside looking for red leaves......found some!!!!

howdie all.
Had our first weekend together in four months! Ahhh cleaned all the fernery and trimmed and planted more ferns.
went out for a drive and had some home made icecream. had a BBQ and just kicked back. so nice. felt like i finally had a weekend!

Had some of the orchids come out but not much due to the drought and the flowers didnt last. Usually they last about 4 weeks at least but not this time....
hopefully next year will be better.
The weather has been really hot! it was about 35c yesterday and becuase it came on so suddenly and was cold at nights, we really felt it.

Finally have some not so free time but I'm sending anyway!

Just busy with work and trying to get some outside clean up done yet. Should be working harder. But I won't do it in the rain and that is mostly what we are getting. Yesterday was nice but I had to work the afternoon and evening. But I did get the front window prepped for the plastic. Had to run to town this morning and get tape! Of cousre I had to do some more shopping while there to make the trip worth it.

Now you can feel the temp dropping and the wind is picking up. I haven't checked the weather yet to see what they are saying.

All the Halloween decorations are great. I don't do any living on a dead end road with 2 other houses on it. No little kids either.

Betty glad you had so much fun with the boys.Won't be long and there will be other things they want to do unless you are one of the lucky ones.

Wonder sounds like you had a great weekend. When is your next one?

Gardengal. Just lovely quilts! Murphy is so cute.I took a picture of Ty and you would think I was trying to kill him. Then I took him for a nice walk. All was forgiven.

Best thing: had the day off and no rain.

Worst thing: picked 2 small woodticks off me! Now I'm worried about Ty. With all the fur you can't find them on him.

What did I learn: Does this work? I thought woodticks were gone this time of year. I guess not!

Checking in but mega headache so will only say hi and will post to each of you tomorrow...last night with the boys...I drop them off tomorrow morning at 6:30..just got back from dropping Sophie at the house so Melanie will have someone to come home to..boys aren't thrilled about getting homework done..we should have done it on Friday..lol...

Project is almost done..some blue to put in the sky and a few touch ups..turned out ok..lots of fine work with eyes so probably that's why I've a headache..

This morning we were just ready to leave and Sophie got out..was 1/2 hr. late for class so had some catching up to do..went to pick up the boys and Betty had supper waiting for me..nice roast beef dinner..saved me getting something when we got home...

Anyway..another weekend is behind us..sounds like you've all enjoyed yourselves..can't wait to gab but it will have to be in the morning...

Good Morning Everyone. I'm up and ready for my first day on the new job! Man, it's dark outside! And of course I was up late last night watching my Sox win the ALCS!! We're going to the World Series! They will have a tough time against the Rockies!!

Anyway, not sure if I will get the chance to post today at all. I have my next class starting tonight so I'm heading from work, right over to it. I'll be dead when I get home!!

fil is doing better and the truth came out he has friends from italy here and you guessed it they were drinking he lost his ballance and fell so he has a walker right now but if anything he's embarrassed

Well girls just got into work..another bumper to bumper HWY 400 travelling..anyway..I'm so excited, remember I told you all about a shot in the dark contacting Jan (Tangiegirls) municipal office..well they sent me an e-mail and gave me her tel.# /fax# etc. so called her home..recorder came on (man's voice) left part of a message because it click off..now I'm faxing and also e-mailing a note..so between all this, surely someone will answer...know her membership expires this week...so let's hope something comes of this search for missing friend....

sorry to hear your not well, had a headache all day yesterday myself. think its the northerly winds, they do it to me everytime.
our weekends are going to be filled working outside and getting things done but at a leisurly pace. really enjoy the time.

yesterday i found out that the manager knows what going on and thats why she has been as nice as pie! i knew there was something going on. oh well suits me. have the meeting in a couple of weeks. my son is coming with me for support and i have to try and find legal council in the meantime. i hate this. hope it doesnt cost me my job.

anyway, not going to think on that today.

gosh, I'm not even sure I could catch up, I've been busy and distracted and I hope everyone here is doing well! Just got back from a weekend trip in the mountains where I went to college...where to start

Best--collecting new plants (I love crinums!), having fun with my daughter and friends, getting my greenhouse ready

Worst--my in-laws are here AGAIN! I now think it would be better if they lived closer so they would go away at night

What I've learned--that time to reflect is important

I need to take a picture of smoke and fires all around here, not as bad as yesterdays view, it seems the fires are blowing SE and we are N of the fires but some are where i was last weekend when I went antiquing and told you I went to breakfast with my friend, where we met is where the Agua Dulce Fire started, it was on the border of two areas, Greg and I rode our mototcycle there last Sunday too. It is within 25 minutes of here in a direct route and two or three other fires are within that same distance or an hour 1/2 away.

Betty, I hope you're feeling better. Are your headaches weather related? I get really bad ones in the spring and fall.

Well, I made it thru my first day back at work. I really liked getting back into the swing of it! I did miss my TODAY show and my mid-afternoon nap! ;-) Anyway, I think I am really going to like my new area. My mgr is a great guy with a dry sense of humor like me.

I left work at 4:00 because I had a doc appt for DD to get her last HPV shot. So I raced her there, then raced back home. DH was home by 5:05 so I then hit the rode and headed over to my class that started tonight. Since it gets dark so early now we can't go into the gardens to see the different plants we're studying so we got a slide show tonight which took up the whole 3 hrs. Got home a little after 9:00; kissed the kids goodnight, changed into my PJs, washed my face, grabbed a glass of ice tea and here I am. Time to go to bed now!!!!

Haven't done my Best/worst,learned in a while so here goes:

Best: starting my new job and not having any of my benefits or salary change!
Worst: Not having enough time to really sit with DH and the kids today.
Learned: Sugar Maples (Acer saccharum) are absolutely gorgeous right now!! Here's one tonight outside of the Botanical Gardens where I go to class.

well i spoke to a solicitor that works for the disability discrimination board and he is going to come with me for free! cool.
I feel better about that as they are sending their legal eagles.

work was work, nothing to report.... thats not a bad thing.

Morning, was in bed by 7 last night, still remnants of a headache, hope it doesn't progress into full blown headache today..decided that on my lunch break I'm going to go over to the eyeglass place and see if they can take me or at least book an appt...I'll try new glasses first and if it persists then it's off to the doctor..yes, the doctor..

Rained most of the night, opened the windows and had nice warm breeze coming through..still a little drizzly..

Had thought I'd get some of the homework I need done for Sat. painting class (dimensional art) of which I'm doing 2 started this morning but it will have to wait until this evening..tomorrow I teach so there goes any change of doing it then...

Guess I'd better get at it..still in p.j.'s and moving slow...so nice to read about yesterdays' activities...

I'm off...

…I’ve really missed you all again! During the weekdays, I have been trying to keep up with you all… So thought I’ld send an update as to what makes my world tick and tock.

Ok, so every piece of machinery I have touched this past month has provoked havoc!
Finally, things are looking up. I was elated to have a home computer over the weekend.
Thought for sure I would be able to say good morning, afternoon or evening from home right? Wrong!! So I hooked it all up and as stated previously, Got an error message so packed everything up, took it all back and the Computer Geeks played with it, turns out there was some software glitch. They give me another new one and load it with the spyware etc…So I say great I just plug it in an go right? Wrong again, hook it all up and same exact thing happens! This is Sunday morning now, I take it back yet another time.
Told them same exact thing…The guy says you are the only one returning this product!…My eyebrows raise and I say Don’t know what to tell ya, this is what’s happened! They keep it all day Sunday and it is finally ready to run. DH picks it up and is working on it when I get home. Yay…but what are you doing I ask. He says I am loading the disks that came with it, HUHH!! Whadya mean?? I though all we had to is plug the thing in and go!! Turns out..All along I was suppose to upload everything…Doh,
Obviously I am no computer Geek, LOL. So finally we are back in business with a full operating system! Right away, of course homework comes first so DD, gets on to write her report, a beautiful piece I must say! By the time she was finished I was too tired to think about going on… First machine fixed! When it rains it pours…During all this time I am trying to get my laundry done at which time Dryer decides it doesn’t want to dry in the first run! So I get way behind on that…Again DH figures out what the problem is and I now do 6 loads in one evening. Whew, 1 left for tonight! In the meantime, DS says he’s got homework for me! Ok what’s up? He says I just need to you to sew this material together for me ok? Sure, when’s it due…Tomorrow! Exasperated, I say are you telling me that every 7th grade mom has one night to sew?? What if I didn’t sew? He says well I can sew it by hand…Nothing like a little timing is my point, so I pull out my machine 3 simple lines right should take 3minutes…Wrong, All of the sudden tension is way off and takes me 15 minutes to fight with it, but finally I get it back to normal. Sew up his little banner, deciding to make it pretty with seams all the way around. Give it to him and to my delight, he was thrilled, caught him “practicing” holding it and then folding it so precisely! Made me smile, and this morning Got a hug and a thanks! During all of this time…my phone decides to give up it’s charge for good, now I am pretty much out of any kind of communication, so decide to go shopping and buy material for crafts!! Ahh, Sweet victory, Finally something to go in the right direction. Get all the material for my ornaments including a different kind of material that I am sure will be awsom…hahhha, now my most excellent sharp craft scissors are no where to be found!! Any other scissors are not good for this material, shux, I give up…So while I was out thought I’ld treat myself to one of those fun little hand toys. I love Solitare so bought a game for 10 bucks.
So there, I sit all prepared to play this little game and…The new game button DOESN’T Work!! Talk about being SOL, LOL I am about had it with machines…and POOF just like magic all is well again, running back on time…Thank Goodness, my sanity is still in tact! That’s just this past weekend

Liz do you have nothing but fire coverage on tv in your area 24/7 like us? We have nothing but that on all network channels until prime time for about 3 hours then it goes back. Do you know Gypsy from the California forum? She is evacuated. She was talking on her laptop from a hotel and has stopped posting, something is wrong. A town near her home/nursury has burned 1000 homes and businesses thus far.
Laura that is good news. All you want is for it to stop once and for all, you didn't cause it, but it needs to stop. I have a friend who went through this process here and she ended up with a Right To Suite letter and got a lot of money but all she wanted was to go to work in peace.

Oh Judy you are just a card...don't you just hate it when these things happen..lol..I was that way with cars..lordy/lordy I must have smashed about 10 of them in a year..none my fault..most borrowed..lol, hate using anyone's car sinse then...am sure everyone hates loaning me their vehicles as well...will have to tell you all about my 'smash em up' derby period...

Just had a visit, used to belong to a msn craft group, posted from time to time, anyway one of the ladies was in the area and just came in to visit..was here gabbing for almost 2 hrs...she's quite a character...always on the go...

Suzanne has to go to meeting outside the office, I'm hitching a ride with niece..she's having lunch right now, wanted to go to the plaze about 3 blocks away re appt. but its a downpour so think I'll just stay in the office and eat in cafeteria....

Paul is in, looks great, although he says that he's still in a lot of pain...he's lost about 50 lbs. in the last 2 months..suits are a bit loose on him..when he came in I said "looks like you've borrowed someone's suit" meant it as a compliment..sure hope he took it that way..lol...

Off I go, talk later...

Dawn..I'm praying for all of you..how very tragic..can't even imagine being in that situation..my heart goes out to all..imagine, to loose everything..the worse we ever get here in Ontario is being snowed in..but when snowed in, we're all safe...my goodness Dawn, where do all the people go??? everyone must open up their doors...

Liz, just looked at the map and see where you all live..Dawn you are about the closest to the fire aren't you??? be safe my friend..if it starts moving, you get out of there....

Will have to call my cousin to see if her son is on call. He is a new Firefighter, that travels wherever he is needed. Just keep praying.

I know how you feel as australia burns every year and lives are lost. My brother in laws brother was lost in one. he was a fire fighter and the fire turned on him and his co workers, they had no time to get out, they were found under their truck.. none survived.

yes i was talking to the legal guy yesterday and he asked me if i wanted compensation and i told him almost exactly what you said, i just want it all to stop and to live my life the same as anyone else!

ditto. thanks for all the well wishes. the Agua Dulce/Saugus/Castaic/Stevenson Ranch fires are very close but not headed our direction for once, the wind is a se wind instead of the usual westerly ones. We are safe unless it is terrorists, then who knows when it will start here. Our forests may never recover in our lives or ever they said. It will be a different ecosystem that emerges from all this. the next nightmare is that this is coming up on our rainy season , IF WE HAVE ONE THIS YEAR, Then we get loss and floods due to the erosion and flash flooding below the fires and on the hillsides. We always have some nightmare unfolding. Our soil here can not absorb anything. Pure baked clay and rock.

Can't believe it's almost my bedtime...if it wasn't for having my 't.v.bingo' cards already and $3K jackpot..think I'd forget about it..going to have my bath, get into p.j's and perhaps play bingo in bed..probably doze off right at jackpot time...

Stopped in to pick up some of my workshop supplies..doing a victorian santa..guess he's about 3 1/2 ft. tall..very simplified...but nice..carried a wreath that light's up, has mega sparkles and snow and a bag of flowers...think they'll like him..must get cutting this weekend and next..first workshop is Nov.10th..

I was in Yellowstone National Park when those fire were running wild, The devestation is still very apparent today, so sad, I can only imagine the aftermath and I so very sorry you all have to go through this.

judy, oh i thought i lost it at the second computer story lol thats something i would of done im not a electronic person i love to make a mess then take out the instructions i just never learn, thank god dh fixed the dryer for you, the girls called they coudnt make it i know one is having some problems with her fiance so she had been down in the dumps and the other is in school so i told them call me when you can. the fires are about 7-8 hours from us just awful.
dawn, i dont watch the evening news but on the morning news its on

so the smoke hasnt traveled down there yet thats good but your right with all the rest of good things we have to look foward to.
were in a fema flood zone its just the stupidest thing yet! we have to have mandatory flood insurance because of this 100 year flood their predicting well lets see its been two years now a extra 500.00 worth of insurance while they fix up thease so called problem area's and the city is short of funds we to are on clay soil and yes a few canals do flood but not what there talking about just so fustrating but the last couple years have been very light winters i hope we dont get a bad one i dont think any one is ready for it.
