Best/Worse & What did I learn today..visit with friends Pt18

Victoria Harbour, ON

just getting boys ready for bed..cut out the 2 additional projects I needed for homework tomorrow and stained them..that's out of the way..Kyle decided he would make me homemade icecream..quite a contraption..it's like a plastic hexagon ball with a metal salt unit inside, you open the cap, put 1/2 and 1/2 cream, vanilla and sugar..fill with ice..then they throw this ball at each other and roll it on the floor until it sets and is ice cream...yummy/yummy..so, off to make sure all homework is done..

Just incase I don't get back downstairs before bed!!!
Best..having the boys here
Worse...still not knowing if Jan is ok...
What did I learn..how to make homemade icecream....

So I'm sitting here printing Halloween party invites for my DD and I totally forgot to let you guys know that I did not hear anything. I did talk to one of the ladies I work with and she said that the guy had just called her and hasked her for a reference and she told him he would be very lucky to have me! He said he was feeling the same way and told her he was making the calls now and it was between me and another person. Well, that was right before 5:00pm and I didn't hear anything. Before talking to her I had left him a msg just saying I was following up and that I looked forward to hearing from him one way or the other. Anyway, DH thinks maybe they need to work with HR and can't get hold of them or possibly they need to let the other person know they didn't get it before offereing it to me. If it was the other way around, I think they would have called me to tell me I didn't get it. Anyway, maybe in the AM.

So I hung around until 7pm then my DD and I went and got our hair done. Just a trim and color for me and DD got her layered pretty good.

Well, off to bed. I'll let y'all know tomorrow if I hear anything!

Night all,
J

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

fingers and toes all crossed for you, J.....
Let us know, please.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Let us know asap. Prayer for the best!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Up early and checking in to see if Jeannine is now back in the workforce...praying that a call will come in early morning..would hate to have to wait all weekend for 'you've got it or I'm sorry" but, have a good feeling it will go to you..am praying and it was a long time to keep my legs cross..sorry Jeannine, it's only the fingers and arms...hope that doesn't jinx it...

Ice cream was delicious..infact we froze a dish for me to have today...must go, get them ready for school and Suzanne will be here at 8 to do homework on same pieces that I cut last night..just sealed the wood so I'm right on track..

Took Sophie out and she did her pee but came in and wouldn't you know it, right for the rug and did her you know what..so, guess she's not as trained as they said she was or perhaps it's the strangeness of my house...keep closer eye on her..Kyle's out walking her now...

Will call hairdresser to see if I can get a cut early afternoon and drop into post office Laura at same time...

So, will check in later this morning..

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, I'm up early too. DD had her bible breakfast and DS had a 7:00am Math study class so I am already up and showered! I have to head back out to take the girls to school then I'm hitting Starbucks! I also have a 10am nail appt so if a call is coming in and I'm not here....they'll just have to call back!!!!

So anyway, I will keep you all posted!!!! Whatever happens, happens!

Thank you all for caring!!!

Good Morning,
Must be a day for all to rise and shine early! Well I was up and running for about 5 minutes, even began to make a Tadah post and blink blue screen appeared...pouting. Tonight, will call the computer geeks and see what the issues might be. To my suprise it was wasn't to terrible hooking the computer up...more time consuming then anything. We were excited to be finally hooking it up...DD looking at me like I am nut case as i broke out in song...Bob Seger tune Out with old, in with the new...Since we weren't able to gain access took DD in to school early. Gosh can't beleive I was at work at 7:30...but too cool Coffee already made! So here I am sipping and munchin a donut...Still got another half hour before officially starting the day.

...Was wonderfull chatting with you Liz. Sorry the phone went dead, was glad I warned ya.

Yep, looking forward to hearing Jeannine's news, hoping it's a you got it! Are you pacing the floors yet? gosh think would be going bonkers...waiting and waiting.

Oh Betty, so glad your running right on target with the crafts. Are you home working today?

Well I am going to go for another cup of coffee, and start a project...nothing heavy today, whew.

Be back in a bit, in mean time you all have a great day!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes Judy, I am here working - took 2 calls..Suzanne came and basecoated the piece, trace on the Eagle, she's gone now to enlarge photo and get her hair done and then back early afternoon to basecoat eagle and put the tracing on it..I'm here working on my 2..class not till Sunday but like to have everything packed away in car to make easier morning of it...

I'm sitting here laughing..Kyle made the icecream and guess on the internet (same place he ordered the ice cream globe, he went on for different recipe's..well, guess their instructions did not have it in metric so he sent them an e-mail to tell them how confusing it is for a young person to do the conversion..should have added old person doing conversion to metric..lol...last time they were here they went and bought 20 bubble gums, the type with the cartoons, well he e-mailed them as well to tell them that when children purchase their product with their money THEY DO NOT want the same jokes...so he and Noah and friend sat almost all day making up skits for the company with different jokes in hopes that they might use them..you know, they didn't even acknowledge their e-mail..I would have thought someone would have done do!!! kids are just too cute...

Did I tell you I got a silly call last night..sounded like an angry person saying that they were aware that I go stealing their newspaper every morning and that they knew where I lived and who I was and if I didn't stop they come over and lay a beating on me..imagine..must have been older kids playing around with the telephone...

June is on her way over, Lydia dropped by her place yesterday and dropped of the salve she makes from natural ingredients for Sailor's back hind...so kind to take the time to do a batch...anyway June was going to post office first so asked if she could see if they would give her my parcel..if not I'll get it this afternoon...

Kids will be home at 10:40 for the 1st nutrition break of the day so will do grilled cheese and fries..then they have the next one at 1:40...so silly..no actual lunch hour or breaks just these 2 -50 minute breaks...oh well guess they know what they are doing...

better get upstairs and sweep..brushed Sailor out quite a bit last night and this morning..although I almost filled a garbage bag, some is floating around..so off I go...

Next time I'm here dear girls I'll post to each and everyone of you...

Note: guess the municipality in Jan (Tangie's girl) might have thought my e-mail was too off the wall..no response as yet...

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Mama's going to buy a new king size bed this weekend!!!!!

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOO!

So I went out this morning to get my nails done and had no call befor I left. I got back and there were 2 msg: one from a recruiter from my company about a job I had applied for and another from my friend there who has been helping me out! Anyway, I figured the recruiter call was either about another job I had applied for OR they were calling to tell me I didn't get it. I just figured the guy I interviewed with would call me. I called the recruiter and had to leave a msg and when I got off the phone he called me back and offered me the job!!! I couldn't believe it. Talking about waiting to the 11th hour!!

I need to thank each one of you for all of your prayers and kind thoughts sent my way! I know every one of them helped!!!

I need to go and get my last nap in now! Won't get those starting Monday!!!! I'll try and post later. DH and I are heading down to Yortown for my sister's 50th birthday dinner so we need to leave around 4:30.

Thank you all again so much. You are ALL wonderful friends to have and I am blessed!!!

Cheers!
Jeannine

Got to tell you though these kids had me so scared with all their energy. playing on the stairs, running by the road, oh my gosh and their parents so non chelant about it all, LOL I was exhausted after they went home...But was so very happy to see them too.

Love the photo's Judy..they are just so adorable...and you are indeed a proud Auntie...just completed all my homework except to cover it all with mistick..Suzanne should have been back a few hours ago to finish hers, have no idea where she is..want to take run down to post office but don't want to miss her...boys will be home from school in about 10 minutes so I'll wait for them to get in and then will go..again, waited for Suzanne so didn't make hair appt..I look like the oldest HAG .. if I leave as is, am sure with a black gown, I'll make a great 'witchiepooh'....lol...

Keep looking at my floors..it's rained off and on all day, and then cats out/cats in..dogs out/dogs in and same for kids..I've swept floors 3 times and really they should be washed but no sense at this point so I'll wait till everyone is in bed tonight...

Are you going to cottage this weekend Judy???? or is it a stay at home relaxing weekend playing of course with new computer????

Jeannine..forgot to ask..what will you be doing in new job??? is it something you'll enjoy....would hate to think it wasn't..

Laura, haven't seen you around last night or this morning...hope you are relaxing as it's your Sat. hi to the family...

Made it to the post office and guess what Liz, I've been 'Boo' d...thank you for the wonderful halloween treats..in the a.m. I'll head out to town and pick up some fillers to 'boo' the neighborhood..how creative you are..just so excited..and of course halloween ornament is adorable..going to put it on my special 'homemade' ornament tree...but it's on display now...so cute...

Dawn, asked about the parcel from Australia and she says it takes time for customs..so guess we'll have to be patient..parcels I send you seem to get there quickly..maybe it's your customs..lol...but 2 parcels in one week is just too much so it will be fun next Friday checking out yours...know you, you'll be fretting, DON'T...it will eventually get here...

Kyle went over to visit a friend for a few hours, Noah is watching t.v. have no idea what supper will be..should get energetic and go into town and p.u. kentucky fried chicken but am tired..Suzanne just dropped in..I'm more tempted to 1. take a bath 2. get in comfy jammies and 3. get heating blanket and get comfy on couch..that sounds more like the plan..I'm off to take Noah next door to see just what new movies are out for him and then order something at restaurant...why not, they are here for a 4 day vacation right...no wonder they love visiting Grandma...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dawn, we cross posted..glad you are getting some much deserved rest...now what exciting do you have planned for your weekend together...forgot to ask you, how many of your children live at home or are you 'empty nesters'???

Maybe you can cook a romantic dinner...wouldn't that be fun???

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

jeannine, whoo hoo congrads thats just great news, have a great celebration this evening with sis.

judy, that is one cuttie, nice looking family glad to see your up and running

laura, how nice finally a weekend to yourself.

betty, lol your so funny your welcome, well i was starting to panic it was almost two weeks ago that went out.
you have a wonderful weekend with the boys what are you going to do ? anything special

best: its friday
worst: not to much bussiness today it was the longest day
learned: the girls from work want to see the decorations so im off too tidy up the house

everyone have a wonderful safe weekend liz

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

We became empty nesters in June. I am trying to figure out if I can still go to the Pasadenaheritage.org thing this weekend since I didn't buy tickets in advance for the tour Sunday. I am invited to two candle parties. I am a freak for scented anything that melts or burns or heats a nice smell in the room.

Greg helped me to unload two skips of soil ammenities to my lasagna grdn and my new raised planters. I played in the Lasagna and saturated it and turned it, planted some seeds and a few dusty millers and got some moreweed killer for my crabgrass. Last minute gardening before I can not. Oh and I rooted some roses hopefully.

What about yall, PLANS?

Pacifica, CA

dawn, im going to send you on a mission lol
a while back i went to a harvest sale i bought this candle it was a window candle the object is to put it in a east or west window the daylight or the sun will make the candle omit its fragrance no wick involved my question is what kind of wax and fragrance do they use to make thease? the one i got is a mix of vanilla/ patcholi its interesting maby at one of your candle parties someone may know how to make one...

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

They are probably melters that instead of puting them in a melting pot, you can put them in a sunny window in a glass container and that is it, but I do not know, because they only last a few days strong smelling so You'd need to tell me more.

Pacifica, CA

heres a pic,
its thin to
if its just basic candle wax and scent oil and a mold im ok
i just wasnt sure if its a regular wax and oil that was my question sometimes i get ahead of myself and get into a whole lot of trouble so i have to ask now a days lol

Morning, Liz, don't think I've seen any of these pieces..sounds interesting..will have to look for them as well...

Boys got such a kick on the 'Boo' poem and good tidings initiative...

Not only did I have the boys but they asked for friends to join them so although they were very quiet, I was unable to pry compute from them so I just went to bed...all are watching t.v. this morning..light rain and I'm just trying to figure out if I'll just leave them for an hour to get hair cut or drag them with me...the eldest is 12 so guess it wouldn't hurt for an hour...no plans today..with weather and everything caught up, can't even think of anything I want to do..am sure something will pop up...

Well better get some breakfast into them...talk later..

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning all..
I received this D-mail the other day.
Hi Starzz,

I wonder if I could use your photo at our Habitat for Humanity resale store. We always have lots of old windows for sale and we want to have a bulletin board with photos of craft ideas for these and other items we have for sale. Your trellis is just the kind of idea we are looking for. We'd really appreciate it if we could post your photo in the store and maybe on the Habitat for Humanity Lake County (Illinois) website if we do an article about crafts.

Thank You,
Christine Harrison
It made me feel happy that they would enjoy seeing my idea, and of course I said yes..I would be honoured.

I had a nice outing yesterday..four of us met for dinner and visit to the casino in Port Perry. We all used to work together. It was fun to catch up on all the news. We all lost a bit of money....but it was fun anyway.

I have read all your posts this morning and got caught up. Congrats on getting the job Jennine. Betty you are so busy with your crafts. I sure hope your BIL paul gets some relief soon. He sounds in such pain.
I have been putting more garden things away...and bringing in plants for the winter.

One day this week my son and his friend came and shovelled apples that were on the ground..and filled 16 huge feed bags to put them out for the deer on the friends farm. It sure helped.

My sister and her hubby just got back from a trip to Italy..the photos they sent are so gorgeous. They had a great time but said everything was quite expensive.

Liz..interesting window candle ..I love scented candles too.
last week when I went to a craft sale the only thing I bought was a scented candle..I enjoyed looking at the crafts but wasn't struck by anything that I had to have. afterwards my friend and I had lunch out..so it was a pleasant afternoon.

Dull cool day here too Betty..going to the library is the only thing I have planned for today. I really enjoy reading now that I have the time.

Has anyone read Eat Pray Love...good one..the authour was on Oprah a couple of weeks ago.

This is the window trellis I made that they want to put on the craft board.

Have a good weekend all

Cheers,
Carol

Pretty Carole.

Betty I tivo'd it and watched it but didn't get the book. I like the lady though some of her new age stuff doesn't work with my Christianity but I have enough alternatives to her Eastern Philosophies that I could substitute and still get a lot out of her stories.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you everyone! I cannot tell you how happy and relieved we are that I got that job! The thought of really having to go out and ound the pavement for a job was just overwhelming. I'm glad I can avoid it!

So, I promptly went out bed shopping this morning (LOL) and I tell you, I need a gazillion dollars and a mansion to have the beds I saw. Most of them were just so ornate. The 6' high headboards - ugh! I'm going to see if I can find anything I like on the internet then find it locally. Anyway, I saw a couple I thought had potential so I'll take DH to look at them.

When we went to my sister's dinner last night, we stopped by my parents house to get them and I was able to pick up my very first quilts that I completed. My Mom put the binding on them for me and washed them. They look so good. I'm going to send one of them to my old boss up in RI - I just can't decide on which one.

So here they are....

This one will be a wall hanging and was my very first try at sewing squares together. This is one I am considering for my old boss.

Thumbnail by Gardengirl1204
Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

OK, here is my crazy quilt. This one I love and would either be a wall hanging or a throw. This is the other one I might send my boss. I just bought another pattern to make a second one of these.

Thumbnail by Gardengirl1204
Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Here is the stitching on the back of the crazy quilt. I took these all to a lady to quilt on her big machine.

Thumbnail by Gardengirl1204

And here is the twin quilt I just sewed together - no patterned. I just picked the fabrics I likes.

Thumbnail by Gardengirl1204
Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, look at those quilts...they'll be passed on and guarded as treasures for sure...

Carol, can imagine just how excited you were to get that request...I've looked at your garden photo's for some time now and they are something to be proud of..should really be in magazines..

Hi Dawn, how are you both feeling today...I keep thinking just how lucky you both were...

It's been quite a day, started off and left the boys for an hour, the girl who usually does my hair was busy so I got a gentleman called "Matt"..well, think he is used to male haircuts, because I'm almost positive that I have a male haircut...oh well, it grows right??? Let's hope..no sense getting upset!!! then I came back home and returned to Midland with the boys..Noah had a birthday party from 11 - 1pm..Kyle and I went to Fabricland (your Joanne's) and I bought material for the deck ghost..then the rock station were at Radio Shack doing promo..Kyle got picture taken and they gave him a radio and also one for Noah..then we were at dollar store, pick up Kentucky Fried chicken for supper (oh boy, lucky me - no cooking) and by that time it was 1pm..so Kyle helped me take out the deck Christmas tree so that we could make it into a 'ghost' but people passing by watching us work only saw the xmas tree..must have thought, now there is someone a little ahead of her..we put orange/white lights on deck and I realized I need about 4 more extension cords to do what I want to do..Liz..you must have 50...lol...then it started to pour, opened the door and Sophie got out..Noah/Kyle and myself spent 1/2 hr. chasing her...

Liz you will be proud of me, went and got Halloween material and will make my 2 bags this evening, but, forgot to bring the poem to have printed so guess I'll make them up and then the kids and I can go place them at door tomorrow night...

Guess I'd better get my things together for tomorrow's class..the boys will have to be up by 7 so I can drop them off at their maternal grandparents for the day..on the way to Barrie for my painting class...

Will be an early night for sure...can't believe it's almost Monday..that's what happens when you have a house full....I haven't yet had to say 'that's enough' so it's been a wonderful visit...I'm broke between treats and restaurants...lol...

Pacifica, CA

evening all,

It's time for bed, at least for me, have 2 kids waiting for computer so will have to make it quick..

Best part of the day...overall fun/fun with the boys
Worse..fretting that Sophie would get hit by car running back and forth up the road...naughty dog...
What did I learn...before you decide to take out Halloween pieces, make sure you've enough cords..will have to pick some up tomorrow while shopping...

Here's photo of Sophie with Noah, taking it easy...

How cool B. Great job the kids must love to go to Grandma's. My Grandma was so wonderful, she was not that affectionate but she loved to make us each feel like her favorite and do special things with us each alone. She gave me the love of gardening ( well maybe not the love of the work but the love of having one I made). She loved to bake and cook for every single family in her church and when we lived in Ohio she'd go crazy cooking for Christmas for 100 people in our family and revel in the glory of our smiling faces. She was a wonderful person with not a bad thing to say about anyone like you B. She died suddenly at age 71 and 1 month, 3 days after Thanksgiving in 88. I always miss her especially during this season and You so remind me of her B. I'm sitting here with tears just thinking about her. BTW, real big Poodle, I thought she was a sheep dog she is so big and cute.

Jeanine Congratulations, that is so fantastic and such a relief. Yippie! Man talk about a roller coaster. Fired and rehired and a new position all in 48 hours.

I love the quilts, I am such a freak for them, they are like comfort to me. I love the colors on that wall one. I love those snuggly throws too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, early morning at that..have supplies to get ready for my class today, kids to get ready to drop off, couldn't sleep most of the night..watched movies and finally decided to get up..why is it during workdays I could sleep till noon, days off, no sleep...

Melanie's mom and dad who are looking after the children today asked me to stay for supper as so I wouldn't have to cook tonight when we get home....little do they know the kids have eaten all weakend from restaurants...one cooked meal won't kill us..lol

Dawn, that's one of the nicest compliments I've ever had..thank you 'sweetie'.. I do try to make memories with them as I have remembered those zillion times my grandma and I bonded with same...the puppy you see is a 'golden doodle-1/2 poodle and 1/2 golden lab...very calm disposition..except when she escapes..lol..

Do have a lovely day...it's time for me to get energetic...

Have a great day all...let's home when I return home I'll have a finished project...
