Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.17

so now are you all done with costumes? boy am i tired from cleanning going to be a long day well hopefully my boss wont stay to long this evening, they get in the kitchen and no one comes out they look at everything and say omg i remember those when i was a kid or oh look at that its funny to watch everyone well i smell coffee so off i go
everyone have a great day liz
This will be fairly quick. Have to run to town before I go to work.
Betty we have hardly any color. The color comes and goes so fast this year. The leaves fall off so fast. right now they are bare or green with a tinge of color.
Dh did get a deer. But they can buy more tags which he will do. But I think he has to get a Buck first.
Laura you are in my thoughts today hoping for a resolution in your favor.
Best thing:: after truck was unloaded yesterday we had a blast. The guys unloading truck were terrible. Took us 30 minutes longer then it should of. Oh but afterwards we were laughing and joking around while we worked. I laughed so hard I had tears! The one girl said we were so fun to work with. I just wish every day could be like that. Gave the Manager a Bday card and sang Happy Early Bday to her. Well kinda sorta. Good thing there weren't very many customers in there. But it was fun.
worst thing; I don't know
What I learned:: was having too much fun to learn anything.! LOL
Betty here is the color we had a week ago. It's all gone now.
Would love to see your home Liz..we've much of the same interests (especiallyhobbies)..I keep saying I must be an old spirit returned as anything old attracts me...worried about poor Sailor today, after cleaning the rug I put paper all over it in hopes that if she has an accident she'll pick that location..sure hope not the upstairs scatter rugs..
Now if I remember correctly you went sky diving right? Is that your photo???? If so, how brave you were..I'm afraid of heights..5 rungs on the ladder is much too high..remember when I first bought the place 3 years ago, need outside paint job, I bought large dowels, taped the brush to it and painted that way so I wouldn't have to climb so high..so, sky diving is out for me...lol
Laura perhaps the Manager was trying to make a point i.e. maybe she believes in you and wanted you to have the glory of the achievement and acknowledge that you are able to do the testing??? Know you do not want to trust anyone but perhaps a quick, 'I appreciated your gesture yesterday' no more no less and if she was trying to be nice then you've made a friend, if she wasn't and was trying to make you feel bad, then you've shown her a stronger side of yourself...or Liz could be right, maybe they are being cautious because of what could happen if brought to a board for review...let's hope they let you do the job and then maybe they will see you are quite capable of doing it...now why did hubby change jobs..was he not working with glass??? Sounds like the experience will do him good though...Could be a penpal.lol..
Well I've my painting supplies out and by this aft. should be done these 2 santa's then in the post they'll go...hate to see projects unfinished AND don't like not keeping my commitment to those I've promised them to...
So it's off to paint, will check in from time to time...have a great day..
Vicki..much the same here..guess it's because we've not yet had a frost...some trees are in full color but not many..as their leaves are falling to the ground I very much doubt there will be much change in color...not worthy of driving around for hours enjoying it's splender..our areas are similar i.e. terrain and weather...
It's always a plus to enjoy your day at work..it amazes me how much one can accomplish when the mood is light...as for the hunting, that is quite different from our system..as hunting tags are limited, I believe it's like a lottery draw, you make application and names are drawn telling you what you are able to hunt..very controlled..have never heard of anyone saying the can purchase a 'tag'
Judy send me a quick d-mail..don't think she'd mind it if I post on this thread...
I have been SWAMPED at the job front. Everytime i have wanted to make post something else came up. My other computer CRASHED big time which set yet another day behind. This morning attemepted to print and had to re-create all the printing templates. I am now in a major hurry to get 6000 enveloped printed and stuffed.
I have thought of all of you theses past days and am really bummed I can not contribute.
I have been able to read and collate 12,000 peices of paper but no time to post...by time days end came I just wanted to go home....Now, in with all of this I am asked to stop again to do a training session, for which i will loose another hour of productivity.
...On a happier note, just know you are all in my thoughts for good days happy chatting and I just can't wait to be able to join you all. Best wishes to Wonder for whats on at her job and results from medical come out good! Sorry forgot to send her my address, (maybe you can for me) Hi to all, Loving everyone arts, what wonderful smiles they have brought to me, im my highly stressfull days here this week. Ves's scenery is so magnificent helped to calm my nerves! And Betty, i am so glad you had a wonderful weekend, got some rest and the costumes are just wonderdful! Hope Paul is feeling better and Sailor too.
Thanks for thinking of me...Please let me know if you hear anything on Jan-Tangi.
Well I am off again to Hopefully print these envs. and will read as i stuff! Smiling upon all and praying my hands move swift as the wind!
hey there,
Dh hasnt changed jobs, still in glass.
no, they were just being mean. i didnt respond negativly... just smile and thanked them. it will go against them at the meeting i expect. liz, i passed all the exams and am qualified to test, they just wont let me.
dont tell me thats you hanging out of the plane!!?? are you insane?? lol
going to the shrink today for another chat and then to see my grandkids!!
now for some exciting news??
Im going to be a grandma again!! my youngest daughter called me at work yesterday to tell me she was pregnant. about 4 to 6 weeks! Its her first.. she is 24. how nice eh?
well ifs 6.30 am, the house is sleeping....i think i will make a cup of tea.
xxxxx
Laura, congratulations..grandma again..lucky you! have to keep in mind that when I'm getting ready to go home it's early morning for you..
BIL called about an hour ago, guess he's feeling bad about leaving all the work for Suzanne and I so told me to switch telephone over to my home # and not drive in tomorrow..we usually work until 1 but the drive in and back makes another 3 to 4 hrs. tacked on, so gladly sit in the house and clean/do crafts until 1:00 lol... you enjoy your tea...
Must have lost all you fair ladies of late...guess I'll post my nightly night/night...
Best...Sailor must be getting back to normal..food I left for her still in her dish, no messes..thank goodness!!
Worse...long day, ended up doing errands on the way home and just got in
What did I learn...cannot for the life of me understand people and pets...now don't get me wrong, I love my dog and cats but there is a limit..
Talked to mom this morning and she was saying that the new dog I got them who was about 3, now this is almost 2 years ago IS SO SPOILT..HOW SPOILT? well she told me that the past 2 or 3 weekends Rocky goes to the cottage and sulks, something there is bothering him and yet when they go back to the city he's like a puppy all over again..afteer a lengthly conversation about this issue she said she asked my stepdad what he thought they might do...well says Jim, if it continues guess we'd have to put the COTTAGE UP FOR SALE!!! I almost chocked...I'm sitting here shaking my head...there is dog lovers, and then there are dog lovers...something is wrong with this picture...
evening all,
vicki that was a nice shot on your property nice to have fun at work isnt it.
laura, congrads how exciting another little one to spoil yep thats me cant wait to do that again!!!lol
betty, thats me but how funny about 5 ladder steps it did not even bother me to jump from 10,000 feet but i have a single story house and do go on the roof for whatever reason but getting down i go into a full panic and start to cry its the oddest thing.
glad sailor is feeling better i can justify spending 700.00 for a stomache ache and running tests to find out what is wrong and why but.... to get rid of a cottage? hmmmm i have to think that one out.
well paitently waiting for our evening company to arrive its my boss and her family comming over to see everything so i will have to tell lots of stories about my peices in the kitchen.
judy hope you can join in soon miss not hearing from you
heres another pic have a wonderful evening all liz
I love animals but that is a big too much. I think we need to talk to Caesar Milan about this, he says remember they are not the master, you have to be. lol
Betty I love olive trees because they are very beautiful mottled trunks when old and they are evergreen silvery and can be formally clipped to be shaped anyway or look good in a Meditaeranian garden, however they were out of fruitless ones and they are very messy. The guy said Fruit stop works for olive trees so I will try to stop fruit more than likely. I want a Pomegranit tree for the color. Some apples, plums and nectarines do great here, too cold for my favorite fruit trees, orange and lemons. Almonds do great here and pistache too but do not have any fruit trees here. We may get a peach tree, I love the shape. I don't like all the fruit mess of a lot of fruit trees and the fruit flies.
Liz that is an awsome display young lady. Hope Gramps is ok.
cooooeee!!
what a pic me up I got today!!
The postman bought me a surprise!!!
a box of halloween goodies!! its ssooooooo coool!
i got an ornament to hang like an xmas ball, frnakenstein earings, halloween charms, skeleton hands all sort of things!!! i feel like part of the gang and celebrations!
thankyou sooo much, my Dh and DD and Gd were here when i t arrived so everyone had fun especially the home sick DH.
thankyou thankyou.
betty i am worried your package hasnt arrived. i wonder if you might call the post office and see if they have it??
Betty, it sounds like your mom and stepdad need to call the dog whisperer, Cesar Millan!!! The dog is running their lives - BECAUSE they are letting it! :) He trains dogs and rehabilitates humans!
Up early this morning to take DD to her girls bible breakfast that she goes to each friday. Got to hit the shower before DH leaves.
BTW - Murphy had it stitches removed yesterday but the vet discovered that one of the stitches in his tail had popped out and the area had opened up and was gross. I don't think he chewed it. I think the lampshade thingy around his neck hits the area right where the sore is. Anyway, he gets to wear the "the dish" for another 10 days or so as well as get an antibiotic for that time and I get to flush it out twice a day. FUN!
Off to the showers.......
morning all,
well everyone had fun last night going on the tour and all the questions now im unstressed have two more groups comming to see sometime this week or next now i can get back on my projects.
what a morning already to awake by the awful skunk smell then let the dogs out to find the racoons were at the back door trying to get in the doggie door so glad its friday will be a kick down day for sure!
dawn, thank you i had two pomegranit's didnt even think how to plant them so they went right up at the walkway oopps had to rip both of them out they were just starting to fruit:(
they have the prettiest flowers on the tree
so now i found a mini one thats in a container a olive tree oh you dont want to can some olives?
betty, cant wait to see the santas you have been working on bet there just perfect whats next on the craft table to do
laura, lol so you got your trick or treat now that was quick!just went out sat, three went out two more going this sat glad you enjoyed them
everyone have a great day heres the foot prints look how big thease racoons are yuck
jeannine crossed posts, oh poor murphy glad hes ok though another 10 day's with that collar i bet you'll be so glad to take that thing off
Good morning sweet ladies...always makes my morning coffee sitting here reading your posts...
Sun is shinning but got quite cold last night, weatherman is calling for snow just about 200 miles north of here so you can be sure it won't be long and we'll have it..now isn't that a though! Goodbye gardens!!!!!!
Was in bed by 9 last night, slept fairly well..forgot to shut alarm and at 4:45am it went off, debated about getting up and putting in a good day...but, dozed off and on and here I am 8am and I've just gotten up...
Looking around to see what I can get into...even though I'm home, I must be within telephone reach to take any calls which might come in so that leaves out working in the yard...do have a snowman on a stand holding a plate for treats, might get that done today..
DIL called last night, my son is leaving next Thursday for 10 days to Calgary, Alberta and she thought she'd fly out with him on Thursday and she'd come back Sunday while Greg would stay for yet another week, well her sitter called and cannot do it and she wondered if I would be able to...Thurs/Fri/Sat are ok but I'm registered for Sunday classes in Barrie, painting an Eagle (what for I don't know) am sure it will end up as a Christmas Gift for someone...so, that I could do, then came up that she'd have to bring Sophie the Labradoodle as well..she's just a puppy, guess you have to do what you have to do right? so she's bringing her here tomorrow to spend time to adjust between Sailor and the cats..hmmm
Well just got back downstairs to finish my post...contractor just came with helper to finish drywall the inside living room wall..can't believe I was so patient, but he did far more than what was called for when he renovated so wasn't too concerned, knew he'd be back..so that has decided what I'll be doing today..cleaning for sure...sure wish I hadn't bought a sectional couch a few years ago because I'd love to move furniture around so I can sit and look outside now that I've a large almost floor to ceiling window, but no matter how I try it, I have to place everything back into it's same location..what I need is new furniture..guess I'll be painting this weekend for sure..see, when I decide it will be a quiet enjoyable weekend, something always comes up to change it...lol...think the Lord believes I'll get into too much mischief with nothing on my hands to do...
Laura, bet you were so excited about your parcel arriving from Liz..just think, now you can celebrate your own Halloween and be talk of the neighborhood..lol...I haven't forgotten the stained glass, still waiting for you to let me know if the soldering iron will work there or if there is an adapter I'm likely to find here to that you will be able to use it..hurry up girl, everything is in a box ready to post...
Jeannine...can sympathize with you about the knawing..every year about this time she starts knawing her hind haunch, big circle about 6" no hair..Liddia who paints here makes her own medicine, brought me a little bottle so I've started to use it again and it seems to take the itchiness out..now I have oil and garlic and goodness knows what else on my hands that I can get rid of smell, but it sure does work quickly..that's been quite some time that Murphy has taken to heal hasn't it??must drive him crazy with that moon colar on...
Liz...you are indeed a thrill seeker...sounds to me as though you should be putting your name on "survivor" list of potential stars..yep..that's my Liz..now you have me so curious, must take photo's of your kitchen and it's treasures..I'd so love to see them...look at those footprints, OMG..how big are those suckers..now these creatures just want to be part of the landscaping and Halloween decorations..I just know they do...lol...glad you enjoyed your friends visit..bet they were impressed...
Well, better get upstairs and see what they are up to..I've about 3 or 4 little mini projects that gathered together wouldn't take more than an hour..just too difficult strength wise for me to do, so I'm off to see if I can con those boys into offering to help...now what's the betting odds that they will....
Shar..hope things are going better for you 'health wise' looking forward to your being able to join us again..
Judy, have a nice weekend, know you've things planned, am sending prayers for you and your family...Judy said she'd be back with us next week, has been working two days in one each and every day and her work computer crashed which makes it even more frustrating so, she'll be with us next week...
Gillian..hate to ask, but with weather turning as it did here, did you by any chance get snow????
Morning my friends,
Am feeling better, thank you....just no energy. I have planted pansies here and there, they will bloom all winter through the snow, and I love to see them when everything else is dark and gloomy, wet and cold. It is very chilly here, but sun is shining and the daytime temp is close to 70. i am so cold natured, though....I am already freezing.
ashley is feeding me lots of pasta, and I can tolerate steamed veggies most of the time, so that and yogurt tend to be my only menu. And she pushes protein bars at me, or peanut butter, so think I can survive on that. All my daily "workout" pants....you know, the kind that are just sort of knit, usually with a drawstring........ were sliding down...not good when you are planting pansies and had to hold pants up at the same time....so DD took me to walmart to the children's section.....now don't laugh, but came home with girls size 10/12....knit pants, and yep, they are staying up. (Also are much cheaper...) tops don't matter, don't care how they fit for just around here. I have to look at the funny side or I would be stressing more...
I read all your posts, just don't have much to say, but I do enjoy the reading. Sometimes you make me laugh, sometimes cry...but always cheering you on. had a great e mail from Herbie this morning, so I got to laugh out loud with my morning coffee...scared the cats to death since they had not heard much more than a peep from me in days.
Here is Ashley with Ethan last weekend, hope I have not posted this earlier, meant to, but don't think I did.....They don't see each other very often, but Ethan dearly loves his Aunt Ash....and she him. They have a great time, as you can tell in the picture. He will be back next weekend.
You folks have a nice cool weekend, I will be reading what you write, and thinking of all of you....and maybe will post just to say hi.
Hugs,
Shar
Shar...so nice to read your posts..we do truly miss you..know you are not up to it, just a simple 'hi' then we know you are okay..have you on my prayer list in hopes that you gain strength and are once again able to join us...
Now look at that beautiful looking young lady...omg she's just so 'pretty' maybe I'll steal her up for my youngest lad 'Jeff ' lol...oh how lucky you are to have her with you at this particular point in life...not so sure she'll enjoy the cold weather after being in Florida but I'm sure she'll adjust..kids do those kind of things for 'mom'...
Guys are gone, did manage them the do the few little things I needed done..they'll be back later today to put another coat of mud on drywall...once 1:00 pm has arrived I'll head into town and try and match the wall color, of course I thru the paint can away..wouldn't you know it...one thing leads to another, if I can get it painted by Sunday then next week I'll go out searching for new drapes..
I've been sitting on the couch for 1/2 hr. trying to see how I could move the sectional so I can get the light and the view from new front window...just can't do it...SOOO was thinking, won't be that long before my 60th..so maybe that will be on my special birthday list from everyone...good idea isn't it...lol....I'll just come right out and tell them that's my plans....everyone can put their $$$ into an envelop then I can go shopping...have my Florida money but certainly don't want to use that up...we'll see!!!
Well, just dropped by on my way to laundry room, if I sit a few minutes longer all that energy will be gone..and Laura, I'm on my way to post office at 1:05 (lol) in hopes of finding my angel...
Thanks Betty, Ashley is lovely....would be fun if we could match her and Jeff....she usually has a "guy" friend somewhere in the picture, but has never really been serious about anyone. Very independent at 31, and seems to be enjoying spending time at home after living in florida for a long time. EXCEPT.....she is freezing. Had to go out and buy warm clothes/shoes for her....she is so tall and much bigger than I, I had nothing that would fit her.
Hope your day is going well....am doing laundry, and just sort of taking it easy today...we shopped yesterday on her day off, plus I was up early doing a radio talk show thing about the upcoming show in the gallery, also recorded a 30 second spot for this show, so I had a full day yesterday, running on adrenaline if nothing else.
have had my yogurt this morning, ashley usually cooks dinner after work, so the yogurt will hold me till then...maybe applesauce in the afternoon.....don't have much of an appetite, or maybe just afraid of what foods will do. Who knows!
Hope your day "off" is going well, would be fun to help you decide about your furniture. I got rid of my sectional after Bob died, and left myself with a love seat and 2 recliners....I like being able to move them around to fit whatever I want. Never could do a thing with that sectiona, but Bob liked it because it was long enough for him to stretch out on in any direction.
Fun, warm day to all of you.
Same here Shar...so limited to what you can do..I so love the living room with nothing in front of that large window..would like two sitting chairs and small table directly in front of it to sit and read, then a love seat as well and rocker...this sectional has got to go...Jeff is 38, good looking, great job, good future prospects...now didn't parents at one time match their children up and children couldn't say anything about it..we'll have to try that won't we...lol...
Well I'm puddling today, doing something every sec, but nothing substantial..just going to have lunch..visited post office and nothing Dawn..she said sometimes it takes week...now get this, spent 1/2 hour packing and wrapping everything in a box for you..got there and she wanted $98.75 to post it..wow/wow, so unwrapped the box, sending you solder iron and stand (not sure if the little sponge fell out you might have to get one)..some foil, instruction book and a couple of patterns..a piece of material that has 4 Victorian Santa's on it about 1ft. each..going to give you instructions and we'll do a Christmas sleigh..a porcelain bag of Santa parts in hopes that you can make yourself a piece..will instruct on that as well and a Halloween treat for you and hubby..sorry, couldn't send all that glass..thought maybe $40.00 but almost $100.00 - just too much for postage...
Then I got a card from a Michael somebody from London Ontario..had no idea who that could be..opened it up and it was 2 cards..a photo and a thank you..was from the man who was riding his 2 wheel bike up to the "Terry Fox" cancer memorial up north who spent the night hear at the B.& B...imagine.was so nice hearing him say how well he was treated....I'll post photo..
stopped on my way from the mail and bought 125 hooks to install around the front/back deck so I can hang Xmas lights..not waiting for that snow..might look silly so early but that's what I'm up to this aft. and tomorrow..with painting of course in between..lol so off I go with another spurt of energy...
so..
Perfect, Betty....let's match 'em up!!!!!!
wonder what they would say about that?
something about Meddling Moms, I would think, but we can dream, can't we?
I love zinnias and marigolds....very pretty, enjoy while you can.
OMG, Betty, he is gorgeous.....now how do you suggest we go about creating a matchup???? (Just scrolled back up to check out his last picture.)
hi there sharran, great to hear from you. we think of you too.
Sorry betty, my Dh said yes we can get a thang that changes the power so you go on ahead.
I was thrilled to get the goodies. its cool.
I hope the postman hasnt lost your parcel! i wonder how long it should take. i mean you parcel to me took only days..... hmmmm
well keep warm all
x
Hi Wonder....
I have been keeping up with your ups and downs, and cheering for you. Hope you have a great weekend!!!!
Shar, he is a looker..
Greg and Kyle are on their way to Toronto for snowmobile show..Greg bought a new one..guess he just wants to go gloat with the others...Noah brought Sophie over, she's not a labradoodle she a goldendoodle (have no clue what the difference is) but she's adorable..she's grown feet since last I saw her..Mel borrowed my car for a few hours so Noah is out bringing Sailor and Sophie for a walk to get them aquainted..she's yet to meet the cats...
Noah was showing me how you can put treats on her paws and say they belong to him..she doesn't move, then he says 'I'll share' and within secs. they are gone..very well behaved...
Well, Sohpie's visit went without mishap...cats showed her who is boss and Sailor found another spot to rest..so, guess unless the sitter they had planned can make it, grandma will have a house full next weekend...I'll even become a 'hockey mom' lol
Melanie asked if she could borrow my car tomorrow afternoon..doesn't like driving the big truck..as I'm not going anywhere, said yes....she stayed about 1 1/2 and just gabbed..she's usually on the run, but tonight she just hung out!!
Best...got a lot accomplished and nice visit with family...
Worse...got a call from a lady who was contemplating bankruptcy, bank garnished her wages, hubby out of work, crying uncontrolable..made me feel ill...makes one realize just how lucky we are!!
What did I learn...no wonder so many people have such financial difficulties...today alone I had 3 calls trying to give me credit cards and Bell Canada (our telephone company) trying to sell me products...you try not to be rude, ask them to be taken off their list and still, calls come in...maybe rude is the only way!!!
Well, I've had my bath, cooked pudding and had my share (lol) and I'm ready for a nap..who knows what tomorrow will bring..need all that energy..
Am looking for some for you.......
Maybe we need magic to make this work.
Sharran..lovley pic of Ashley and Ethan..so happy.
Jeff is a very handsome fella for sure Betty.
The letter and photo from Michael was so touching. He must be a very fine young man as well.
Yikes..isn't postage here in Canada so expensive.
I spent yesterday cleaning out the filing cabinet and doing some shredding..and then read my book and relaxed.
Must bring in more of my plants to overwinter in the basement. I have already brought the hibiscus trees in.
Liz..your Halloween decorations are wonderful..I showed the photos to my neighbour the other day...and also Betty's costumes..She was impressed.
have a good day all.
morning all,
betty,so the snow is around the corner when do you expect it to start?we have to drive 4 hours to see and walk through it,bet your glad the drywall is done i'll try this weekend to take some kitc photo's.
my boss's sis loved all the things she has a friend who does the same thing shs said she gets them on ebay never tried that yet.
thrill seeker... well when i was married the 1st time, somewhere in idaho there was a rushing water fall i had to climb over this slippery rock to hang over to get the pic of the water dont know what ever happened to that pic, then the grand cannyon made no sence the guard rail so i snuck over that to lay over the cliff to get the full effect of how deep the valley was to show my family back home well dont think i wasnt embarrassed when i got up to see a group of people pointing at me believe me i have calmed down quite a bit lol.
what a lovely card from michael you made his stay very memorable how thoughtful oh just look at your garden full of color and oohhh just look at that cutie just want to pinch her big black button nose, so lol the cats put down the law lol now that was a nice picture of jeff and the boys.
shar, glad your feeling better, you have some sun lucky you we have had some hard rain we need it but it make the day lazy for me just dont want to do anything hope its sunny today now what a nice pic of ethan and ashley what a beautiful girl now just listen to you two playing matchmaker how funny.
well off to get ready going to walmart have to replace one of the fog machines so chat later liz
carol, crossed posts lol thank you still adding odds and ends small stuff
wow your postage is on the high side it was cheap to send a parcel to canada but i was surprised how much from here to australia was funny how they figure out thease things
Carol, the box wasn't that big but it was more the weight..guess that is why everything is so expensive in Australia..the shipping factor....
Rained all night and light mist this morning, what a change..all those oak leaves on the ground, late fall at our doorsteps, dont you just want to get into your snuggies...
Do you do anything special to winterize your plants??? I've been fighting bringing in plants and putting away the yard art/tables/chairs etc. but, guess this is the weekend for it if it can stop raining..
Have some sanding to do to remove excess putty on drywall...So off to make myself useful...enjoy your day...
Liz, can't believe you are still decorating...thank goodness you've a weeks vacation to put everything away..now will you take out your Christmas decorations at same time??
If I get really ambitious today and get what is on my list of to do's, I'm make my weekly trip to Home Depot tomorrow morning and pick up some wood..had intended to do prototypes but then the contractor came and change of plans...
betty, actually i do put up only the house lights that is the biggest pain climming up and down the ladder then as soon as thanksgiving is done then i bring out all the rest im putting out thease (of coarse martha stewart ) saw thease on the web site spider sacks i have to make another one going to hang thease near the mechanical spider gave me the hebbie jeebie making them lol
Liz you sure do get excited over decorating at Halloween..love it...mine is Christmas..already looking in boxes..can't wait..day got changed somewhat..friend from about 1 hr. drive north called and is on her way..going to spend much of the day..love the company..will have to put 'to do' list away..she is an artist so do enjoy talking art with her...so off I go to get cleaned up...lol
ok heres the next.....
jeannine,dawn, tropicanna trick or treat
Laura - Sorry, it's taken me so long. I think the biscuit crust would probably work. I might try to pre-bake it for about 10 minutes first though. I think I tried it once and it came out a little soggy. Pre-baking it probably would have helped. It still tasted good though.
Liz and Betty - It's been so neat to see your Hallowe'en decorations. I may have to borrow some ideas some day. I finally have the room in the basement organised well enough to decorate for our haunted house. I'll have to make sure to take pictures when it's finished. It's very low-budget but it should be really cool. We're planning on having the scary party on October 26th or 27th so we still have some time to get set up.
Betty, no snow here yet, just rain, rain, rain. I'm getting sick of rain - and all the mud and pot-holes. It's starting to get chilly though so maybe soon we'll see the white flakes.
I've been wanting to get some things done outside but it seems like it's always raining when I have time. DH went out today to do stuff and came in 10 minutes later because it started to drizzle. I may just have to bit the bullet and get suited up in rain gear.
I'm babysitting today, started at 7:15 this morning. I couldn't believe how dark it was while I was waiting for the kids to arrive. As much as I love the winter, it's hard to get up when it's pitch black outside. Speaking of being dark, one of our doctor friends recently recommended taking a daily supplemement of vitamin D. He said that he had been reading research about it helping all kinds of health issues like cancer, depression and immune system regulation. Apparently most people don't get nearly enough vitamin D. DH and I don't really have any major health issues but we decided to start taking it anyway. I just thought I'd pass along the information for anyone else who's interested. Our friend said that it's really helped to keep him from getting the 'winter blahs' or SAD.
Best - I fixed DH's 'nagger' (his PDA) so we don't have to look for a new one for him.
Worst - Our hunt break is almost over.
Learned - How to fold a flat diaper and how to sew my own prefold diapers. I've been bitten by the cloth diapering bug. I had no idea how addictive and fun it could be. Oh, I also learned how to knit continental style. I didn't realize how straightforward it was. Now I need to get some more wool. I want to make some wool soakers for Ella.
Don't know about your area, but it's sooo cold here, could almost snow..wind is up..company just left..had a wonderful visit..she brought a painting of a wolf she did and didn't I have a frame for her canvas..she's financially strapped because of having to put her hubby into a seniors home..keeping her home and helping pay the home fees..severe dimensia he has, very sad..both were so committed to community fundraising etc..would have been 58 yrs. of marriage yesterday..she needed to get out dear soul..so, we had lunch (restaurant of course) and she really appreciated my giving her the frame...
I have been on a mad search throughout the house..had a snowman/base cut from pine holding a wooden plate for treats that I wanted to do and perhaps make a few more as Christmas gifts....put it in a safe place when I was cleaning last weekend for Thanksgiving set-up, now never to be found..just did my prayer to St. Anthony - patron of lost objects, that always works so just will have to bide my time...
