hmmm...not sure then...I did d-mail 'dave's garden' an asked, maybe they'll send me the information we need...
Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.17
Hi Betty, I answered you on your query on Daves Forum. You can't have been back to you watched threads!
Look further up the page, there is a very wide "ewwwwwwwwwwwww" which without a break has stretched the page. The poster needs to remove some of the 'w's and all should be back to normal.
They schedule Paul for therapy at 9:30 in Midland every morning for a few weeks which means he won't get into the office until noon..he came in this aft. in so much pain..Cindy his daughter who works next door in the mortg. company drove him in...he's like a big/big BEAR..I'm just sitting here in my office being quiet as a mouse...now his 3:30pm just cancelled and it will make him happy, he'll get to go home, however, I parked my car in Barrie this morning 1/2 way mark because Suzanne is staying in the city tonight to have dinner with her son who is in university and won't get home until 10pm...it's usually no problem for me to drive as far as Barrie with Cindy..yuk..now I have to ask Paul if I can leave when he leaves at 3:30..normally it would be a piece of cake but with him being like a bear, who knows...
Well I've traced the designs for the girls in my painting class tomorrow night..they'll be anxious to learn new techniques...now these new girls said they did take classes before..let's home they know the basics..if not, it will be a little challenge for the project they picked..non the less, it will turn out a+
I fixed it. Whenever something like this happens, look for a long string of typing without any spaces - that's probably the culprit. If you'll send us a link to the thread (or better yet - to the post) via the contact us link (at the bottom of every page), we'll be happy to fix it ;o)
Thank You Terry and Wallby!
Betty, sorry to hear about Paul...Hope he feels better!
oops!!!
It was me!!! Sorry, I didnt know.... :0(
Im the Eww culprit! spiders and all... how embarassing.... sowwy...........I will know better next time...
Havnt heard from dawn in a while.. hope she is ok.
Well betty, it could be a treat, it could be anything... you just dont know until the postie comes....
I have sent you all something.. well most. Some of you are not on the address exchange much to my dismay. there is something here for you too if you change your mind.. seedtosser1, starzz and murmur. Hope you do...
well it was quite a gale blowing last night so i hope the orchids are ok this morning.
hope you all have a good day.
sorry again about stretching the thread , kinda annoyed you guys....
xx
No you did not annoy us, you taught us something..now we know what typing same character does...you silly willie....how did your day go today Laura..
I sent Dawn a d-mail as she often looses our thread because of the new format..I am worried though about Araness and Tangiegirl...I'll try calling information to see if I can find a tel.#
What a bunch of helpful people...get into trouble and voila, they are there to help out!!!!
Will post later...must do bingo, work on costume, have supper AND watch Dancing with the stars..I predict that Wayne Newton leaves the group..he's done wonderfully but his old 65 yr. old bones just can't move like the younger ones..give him credit for trying though..you never know, he might have so many of our generation calling in that he'll make it to next week...lol...
evening all,

well chat later dinner ready liz
Just thought I'd do a quick post before going to bed. Things are going really well here. I'm really looking forward to the hunt break next week though. It's so nice to have time off school in October, especially right after Thanksgiving. This week DS's bus driver is on holidays and they don't have a back-up driver so I've been walking him to school (well I drove him yesterday - it was raining soooo hard). I don't mind, it's not like it's very far, but I do sort of feel like I should get dressed before sending the kids out the door. lol.
This afternoon I was outside with DS and baby. I decided to see how many potatoes I got from growing them - I did the stacked tire method. I only got four so I'm a bit disappointed. I guess that's what happens when DS decides to snap off all the stems in early August- argh! While we were at the by the garden I looked over to Ella and noticed that she had discovered my tomatoes and was happily chomping down on a green one that she had picked - not that there are any ripe ones anyway. I think that next year I'm going to plant them all in containers so I can bring them inside once it starts cooling off. The cherry tomatoes I brought in have ripened nicely while the ones I left outside are all still green (I planted one plant in a container and one in the ground).
Later we came inside and Ella was swinging a toy around and hit me in the lip causing a small wound and some swelling (it's much better now though). I had been eating a banana but put it down to tend to my lip. When I came back out of the bathroom she had MY banana and was eating it herself. Of course, when I want her to eat something she's never interested. I told DH when he got home and he said that it was like she mugged me. Life is definitely interesting with a baby.
Well, I better get to bed.
Best - Receiving a package of cloth diapers I ordered in the mail
Worst - Getting a wounded lip
Learned - Ella is allowed only soft toys
night all..it's past my bedtimes, got carried away with costume making..morning comes early..will post to you all when I get to work..Gillibean..so nice to hear about your day..Liz..will gab tomorrow...imagine, up at 12:12 on a weekday..lol sleep well my friends..
morning all,
gilli, boy ella is funny keeps you on your toes dosnt she lol any plans for break? oh thats to bad about the potatoes but what is the stack tire method i never heard of that.
betty. oh my you have to much energy so how many costumes did you finish?lol
have to get with sis she wants to plan a weekend and do halloween baking last time we did that she got smart and i dumped the bag of flour over her head oh what a mess but it was fun.. i feel like im weeks behind in decorating hate that feeling well better get ready for work i've been working on project since 4.00 got paint all over my hands.
everyone have a great day liz
Gillibean..an entire week of for hunt break..knowing you you'll have it filled with family activity..Ella has grown so much..wow fat lip..so cute...each day now you'll see such changes in her..won't have a baby for much longer...not quite sure what stacked tire method is..do you mean with car tires one on top of each other used to support the plant??? hmm sounds interesting...guess family are unable to come up for Thanksgiving???
My sister and her 2 girls are coming, my family, mom and Jim and a few friends, so should be about 20..they are calling for a nice day, would love to eat outside..there are enough table sets to seat everyone so am hoping to be able to do so...
Making grocery list and to do list..think if I narrow it down to 4 hrs. sleep each day until Monday I just might make it...I had taken a very bad fall last Thanksgiving and my right wrist has never been the same..I find it so difficult peeling all the pumpkins and the turnip..once they are done, rest is a breeze...
Brought my red wool to work this morning, making pom/poms for the 2nd clown suit..could have it done if it wasn't for teaching painting tonight..oh well, tomorrow is another day..need material for lining for the monkey hands/feet so a quick drop in to fabricland will get me back on track..
Paul won't be in until noon..his therapy is 9:30 in Midland and then the 1 1/2 hr. drive in...we all want to ask what's happening with the building in Barrie, but, he's in so much pain and being a 'bear' that I'll not be the one to ask..only answer when spoken to..that's my moto..lol
Liz...painting at 4am, not would it be a 'halloween project?'...funny about the bag of flour, would love to do that but then I'd have to clean it...
We're not going anywhere for the break, just relaxing. It takes a 5 hour train-ride to really get anywhere from here and then we're still pretty much in the middle of nowhere, except with a highway. It's much better to just use the time around here. I'm hoping to get my garden and yard prepared for the winter so it will be nice to have time to do that. DD and I will also be setting up one of the rooms in our basement as a haunted house. We're going to have a 'scary party' just before Hallowe'en so we have to get things set up. Well first, we'll have to get that room tidied.
For the stack tire method I put a potato in the ground. When the plant was about 8 inches tall I put a tire over top of it and filled it with dirt, leaving some of the leaves exposed. As the plant grows you just add more tires. It is basically supposed to accomplish the same thing as hilling potatoes and it takes up less space since you don't have to plant a long row. It was my first time trying potatoes at all and I think I'll do it this way next year too. I'll just have to keep DS away from them.
Well, I guess I should get my day going.
Wow Gillian, isn't that a lot more work? I'm going to try a few bales of hay and plant in them, was reading up on one of DG sites and it sounds just so interesting...that way I can put the bales our of sight..my prime interest if flowers/flowers..lol.. enjoy your day...
Hi,
Well, no harm done, we all learned from too much ewwwing! lol-
today is somewhat bizzar- Nothing seems to going right, from computer to some very simple projects...Just one of those crazy days. So to cheer up went for a nice walk at lunch time. Our weather is simply beautiful. The sun is shinning and a light breeze in the air making it just so lovely. People out and about enjoying the day.
I hope you have a wonderful hunter week...now I guess little Ella really wanted that banana, glad you lip is better. Your haunted house sounds like you will have loads of fun, will look forward to see photos. Very interesting on the tire effect of planting...maybe next season you will have a great harvest. As for the green tomatos, put them in a brown paper bag and place them in a cabinet or closet (for darkness) they will ripen in a couple of days. Well I don't remember exactly how many days so just keep checken them...but it does really work.
Oh Betty, Your Thanksgiving sounds to be a wonderful gathering. I do hope the weather stays beautiful for the occasion. Sorry to hear of your wrist, maybe someone else can do the peeling. Is whip cream first on your list?LOL
Liz, hehehe, remind me to never get smart with you. Too funny. So hope you got the parts for the fan lights. You know they just don't make things like they used to.
I think you are just sooo excited it feels like it's not going fast, but you'll get there and it will go fantastically!...now HURRY UP so we can see more pictures...hahaha.
Awe wonder how sweet of you. I send you a d-mail with my address. I haven't quite figured out how to do stuff. where is this address list you all are talking about? Just figured out yesterday about setting my home page with all that i watch! LOL So i hope your day off was good for you.
Hi to everyone who's not been on...Hope your days have been wonderfully busy and the only reason for not posting.
Well have a splendid day!
Judy
Afternoon Judy...some days are like that..boss left at 3:30 (thank goodness) was going directly to hospital..paid me a day early so that tells me something..he won't be in for the rest of the week..so better brings more crafts to do..lol
As for the address exchange...you go just underneatht DG banner and click on MY INFO, then you will see just under the banner again and see EXTRA..click on extra and it will give you an entire list of options...think it's called...share addresses..something similar..hope you find it...
I'm pom/pom'd out today...sat here and made enough for the 2nd costume but made extra..I'm going to check and if I've enough left over material I'll make one for my grand nephew (he's 9 months old)...yet another project...
Yep..whip cream is one of my first purchases...lol..just what I need, more calories, you never know, maybe everyone else will eat the pies up..let's hope..last year there was 3 or 4 left over and you'll never guess who managed to nibble from time to time...
Don't know if my wrist will ever be the same...last Thanksgiving, a friend of mine and Roger (worked with Roger) good looking man, money etc. dropped in on the Friday night about 9:30 passing through town on his Harley..well it was freezing that night so I told him there was a room if he wanted to spend the night but that I had to be out by 8am to do groceries and then be back to go to my friend Carol's funeral..so he stayed on..in the morning he tried to talk me into going for a ride..my answer was 'nope, much to dangerous for me' on our way out, because it was about 7:45am but calling for a beautiful day, I was rushing down the deck staircase and ice had formed on #1 step..hit every step, landed on yes a cement rhubbarb leave, trying to support myself with my hand...had it in a cast for awhile, could hardly move for the few weeks and even today still have the aches and pains, but nothing broken..Don's first comment as he stood below the deck talking while I descended in an unladylike fashion...yep, riding on a motorcylcle is too dangerous....so this year, I'll take it easy and not be in such a rush...
Thing with having someone to help me with the pumpkins is that I need to cook them tomorrow night so the pulp will be ready for pies on Friday...Greg won't be around, he's got the kids hockey games and Jeff won't be up till Sat. know others put it in the oven and cook it, then just take an icecream scooper and scoop out the pulp but I'm not fond of that method..so perhaps I'll purchase about 10 mini ones..surely their outer skin won't be as hard...as for the turnip..it can wait till Sat.
As always you can tell I'm extremely tired...I start to ramble on..please excuse..
Hope you enjoyed the day...time to shut down computer and head north...
B there is something that feels so wonderful, a sensory overload that you would appreciate if you were to get over your fear of the bike. It sounded too cold to ride if it froze your steps, but in better seasons, I know with someone who understood your fear, that you trust, It would be something that I KNOW YOU'D really love.
Liz we have been eeking along on the painting. Our window tape keeps falling off and the wind has been up so can't paint on those days. We have primed and painted the red color on about 1/3 of the house.
Dawn, color of red is so inviting..they say that everyone should paint their doors red as a sign of 'welcoming'...so you are right in fashion...so much work isn't it..when I did the house, the builder suggested materials and different techniques as so I wouldn't have to be painting (at my age) yuk, I'm only 59...guess when you are in your 30's - 59 sounds ancient..lol...
Guess if I really felt safe I'd try it..but, can injure myself just walking, can you imagine what I could do biking...besides..this guy decided that I was the love of his life, said he always felt same even when Roger was alive..soooo there went that friend...that was probably more the reason than anything else..my brother and his wife have harleys and also those big trikes..he shows them..she does airbrushing on them..quite eye catching...think though I'd better settle for just a regular bike as they just opened about 20 miles of walking/biking trails...
Well, got home at 6:55 and the painting gals got here at 7:00 so I've had nothing to eat..they've just left..to late to eat anything substantial so cereal or balogna sandwich will have to do..
Dawn, we sure have missed you!
evening all,
judy, yes we got the celing fan light fixed and of coarse i had to hear all about not being in a rush and yanking off the new chain..men they just have to get in the last word lol
dawn, red sounds nice post a pic when you get it done hope your doing and feeling better
betty, yes i was painting halloween lol and the flour was a big mess especially when we took damp towels to the mess we had to hurry and clean before my mom got home, thats right your having your holliday dont over due can you get a little help from someone? you'll be wore out cooking ,making costumes oh boy.. well getting late have a good evening all
best: left the store for a hour with the boss nice to get out had to get store supplys
worst:nohing bad today
learned: i had 41 hours of vacation left so with that im taking the week of halloween off
You'll need that week just to put Halloween decorations away...omg..and you say I've energy..
Traffic was lighter this morning so rather than our usual stop in Barrie at the 1/2 way mark we continued to the little plaze next to work..here I am, eating peameal bacon on a bun and homefries..shouldn't need lunch after this..it's sooo delicious..just before 9 Paul called to say he spend aft. and evening in hospital and managed to see a Dr. who confirmed it is a pinched nerve..waiting for MRI appt. today or tomorrow..they gave him morphine and then other medications for home..well, he said the 'no pain' lasted for about 2 hrs. and then in major pain again..Dr. said they'd act quickly..MRI should determine if it's something that must mend itself or if he will need an operation..let's hope not..but in finishing our conversation, he told me to tell the girls - take Friday off and enjoy a 4 day Thanksgiving weekend..so between the breakfast and the day off tomorrow, I'm having a wonderful day...lol...
So will print off a grocery list and sit here and tick what groceries are needed..tonight I'll head into town, pick up pumpkins and pie ingredients and turkey..the remainder of the supplies can be purchased Friday night..now that will give me Friday to finish costumes AND bake pies...I'm excited because the are calling for the next week to be in the high 70's so outdoor Thanksgiving dinner could become a reality...I so love special events...on my way home last night I picked up a few musical witches ..Liz don't know how much decorating I can get done with everything I have to do, but will try to make it festive...know the one thing I must do is purchase a whole lot of hooks and get them in place so that when it's time to hand all the christmas lights, I'll be ready...
Can't you all just tell I'm on a roll...lol...
I'm going to finish eating my breakfast..have 2 victorian santa's here to finish and if I took everything out now that I know Paul won't be here..off with the office papers etc. I can get them out and paint all day..one if for Araness..not sure where she got off to, sent her few d-mails..sure hope she's ok..miss ter..but it's something I said I'd do so better finish it..the other one, well, I'm sure I'll find a home for it..lol...
So whatever you are all up to day, hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying my day...
morning all,
geez betty, im so tired i cant see straight decorating and working and if i could only shut off the brain for a while i just might stay focused!lol thats why i take vacation during halloween i do need a week to pack it all up. hope bil dosnt have to have any surgery oh he must be misserable well now that ive goofed off im late as usual now i have to run i'll try not to break the light again lol

now i have to pack up my project and take it with me to work no time for breathing....
everyone have a great day liz
Well good morning everyone! The past 3 days have been quite busy! We took Murphy in Monday morning to get neutered and have a small growth removed from the underside of his tail. We also had a microchip inserted. Everything went fine with the surgery and the doc said they will keep him overnight and I can pick him up around 11 on Tuesday morning. I have realized why they do this. Not so the dog can be there to be monitored but so that WE can get some sleep cause once he gets home, all heck broke out!
I pick the boy up Tuesday morning and he has one of the satelite dishes on his head. It's quite funny watching him run into things (I know, I'm mean!). As the day wore on obviously the pain increased. He whinned and tried to get his tail and just kept jumping up and trying to get away from the pain. I finally called thevet aqt 6pm and they called in a pain killer from the pahrmacy for him. Unfortunately, it didn't knock him out like I was hoping so I was up most of the night with him.
Yesterday was slightly better. I saw a little of the puppy come up a few times. He was able to settle down for longer times. He was fine in the crate last night. He's a little antsy this morning but more like himself. I know a lot of the discomfort is from the hair that was shaved. I try to rub the hairless spots a little for him. He loves that!! So I think we are on the upside and I hopefully will be able to remove the coller in the next day or two. I just need to make sure the incisions are healed over. We hopefully will find out about the growth by tomorrow. The vet can't imagine it being anything bad given his age and pedigree but you never know. If it does end up being cancer, we may have to have his tail removed.
Other then all that fun, I'm hanging in there. Still looking for a job. I took my resume up to another nursery yesterday. From what I've been told, it's more of a family run biz and works with a lot of contractors. It looked like a great place. I could spend a lot of $$$ there!
DH is going camping tomorrow with his best friend. They try to go twice a year and have done so for over 20 years. So I'm a single mom this weekend. I did it last weekend too when DH went w/ DS camping for their father/son camping trip. For this weekend, I was given 7 tkts to the High School Musical on ice so I'm taking DD and 5 of her friends down there Sat. Should be an experience!!
Well, I've got to go and pack up the auctions I've sold on eBay. We're selling all of our CDs so they've done pretty good so far! I love being able to just send it from our house vs. going to the post office!!
I will check back in later today! Y'all take care!!!
Jeannine
Jeannine, look at poor Murphy..omg...don't you just want to cuddle him on the couch...am sure as your vet says, it's probably just something minor..no cancer..so let's hope...that's great you've been selling on eBay..do you have to set yourself up as a business...or is there just somewhere you can log in what you have for sale...
Enjoying my morning....DS (from up north) had some business he had to do for his company not far from the office so he had to kill 1 hr. so he spent it with me...I had just finished the homefries, and that peameal bacon on a bun smelt good, but when he came in, told him I was full after the fries so would he eat it so it wouldn't go to waste...a little white lie isn't bad is it? Know if he thought I was hungry he'd never have taken it...moms like to spoil their kids don't they????
Well here I am at the office, took a photo on labtec camera...see how busy I am..lol..
Good news. The growth on Murphy's tail was a benign cyst. She still thought it was unusal that he had one at his age. I'll let the breeder know so she can note it on the litter info.
Well, off to figure out what to fix for dinner - I hate that!!!
Y'all have a great night!!!
J
hahah betty, your so lucky to have such a wonderful job!
Oh poor puppy, yes its true, they dont like the feeling of the wind on their rear end its true lol.
Ooh i hope you all take photos of your decorations! I cant wait to see them.
going by the short time that it took for your package to get to me Betty, I would think that your package will be there in a couple of days... maybe even friday!
There is news on Mina betty, check the thread God love her.
Worst:
well yesterday was a hard day as my boss was in a mood. i had to go into her office to ask her something which i hate and i knocked. she rolled her eyes and sighed and said "F*&^%k.... can you imagine???? Im not used to that language under any circumstances let alone at work and from my boss! Of course she does this when only i can hear. awful, awful woman.
Best:
My DH called me yesterday at work and I was telling him about my day. He is very encouraging and cheers me up but he knew i was feeling it.
Later that night (he works afternoon shift) he sent me a text message telling me that throughout the night he is going to send me a text message every 30 minutes telling me all the reasons why he loves me. And he did!! He numbered each one. It made me cry but it made me think abut how lucky I am and the great clouds just blew away.
Enjoy all your thanksgiving and halloween preparations.... Keep me upto date...
xx
great news garden girl!
evening all,
jeannine, omg poor baby look at him in that collar, but the news was great what a load off your mind can you remove that collar soon? those things are a pain last year when one of ours had knee surgery she had to wear one and yes it was funny watching them walk into things but the worst was catching her trying to fit out the doggie door now that was a riot.
good luck with job hunting and have fun at the musical.
betty, how nice to stop by for lunch i see your busy at work lol so have you begun baking yet? gosh dh working a little late so i guess i'll be able to do a little work around the house like finishing projects i left out all over the place it looks like we had a party thats what i get for not compleating things and moving on to the next.

worst: dh will be crabby when he gets home having to work so late
learned: nothing today
everyone have a wonderful evening liz
Evening all...just got home from work..dropped in and did 1/2 of my groceries..2 turkeys, spiral ham, baking goods for pies, treats for the grandchildren, oh yes, don't forget 'hot dogs' can you imagine, Caleb and Braedon never eat the turkey or ham..they always ask me where the hot dogs are..everyone says 'NO' let them eat all that lovely dinner, but you know, it's Thanksgiving and if that's what they enjoy then that's what they'll have...did purchase way/way too much food, but, everyone likes taking home left overs and if anything is left, I'll use it for lunches next week...
early Sat. morning while turkeys are cooking I'll be off to get the fixings...was going to peel the pumpkins tonight, but lordy, I'm just too tired..would rather get up at 5am....will try to get everything done tomorrow including the grass..want an early night tomorrow so when everyone comes on Sat. I'll be fit as a fiddle...
Worked on the santa's all day...made the day go by so quickly..was going to take them home to finish but thought, why bother, I've enough to do..see, I'm learning what I'm capable of doing..'just a kiddin'...lol
Laura, I cannot get over your boss..is she like that with anyone else? Now that was soooo nice of your DH calling..didn't it make you feel extra special...give him a hug for me...thank you for the treasure you are sending..I'll be sure to check post office both tomorrow and Sat. if not, next week for sure...
Jeannine, how wonderful that Murphy has no major problems...but it would be interesting to know what causes them??? Bet you are enjoying yourself at the musical..how exciting..girls night out...
Liz, bought a bunch of skeletons/trinkets etc tonight..will make a halloween tree for front entrance Sat. IF I get all my to-do's done...imagine, decorating at work as well...bet you are just running on nerves....does your township/municipality give out prizes for best decorated..if they don't they really should..bet people come from all around to see it...
Well, this old gal is tired tonight..last 3 nights it was late before I climbed into bed, so tonight with groceries put away, no supper so will make something to tie me over till morning, then a bath and off I go...
Hi, my friends...yep, my life is so full right now, I have begun to neglect my best buddies. I can never catch up, but please know that I try to read all that you write, even if I don't have nough time to respond to all of it.
went to a litle church event tonight, the ladies have a gathering about once a year, they turn the rec room into a restaurant style, have about 12 tables and about 8 ladies at each table. Each table has a theme, and you must decorate your table, and dress according to your theme,,,,,and no matter the theme, everyone must wear a hat....... then you are seated for dinner, then door prizes then a fun style show.
So I went to night and our table's theme was 'a reception for the bride".....so here we are all decked out in our finest....what you cannot see were the fake fur capes and the white dinner gloves...
It was fun, and I had a good time..
tomorrow is not fun, have an early morning endoscope scheduled....and will probalby sleep the remainder of the day. so my wish for you is a good restrul night and a wonderful friday...

Will be on pins and needles waiting for results...
Laura, the USA has Thanksgiving in November, but we Canadians Celebrate early October..I'm up early ready to take on this very, very busy day...it's pie morning...now why does everyone like a different type, could they not all just like pumpkin??? So it's pumpkin, apple, lemon merangue/blueberry/cocconut cream....so, am off to peel the pumpkins...

thank god its so far appart gosh if i had it like betty i'd have to start decorating in august lol halloween is "trick or treat" and thanksgiving is" happy thanksgiving" and before eating one person says thanks for all, then in our family everyone takes a turn to say what they are thankful for then we get to eat.
shar, oh how fun was that and then to see what all the others were dressed as to you looked lovely bet you had a good time, i'll say a prayer for you today hope all go's well for your appointment.
well got to get ready for work everyone have a good day liz
Good Morning!
Well everyone is off to a very busy and exciting day of events, and not so with Shar's. Will be praying for good results on that.
So glad you went to that very fun outing Shar. You all look so beautiful all dressed and pretty hats. How fun to see each table oufitted in other themes.
Oh Liz, You sound so happy with all the decorating going on. Do you do a special Spooky at work too? Was glad to hear you got the light fixed...
all in all the best decorating is always done first...clean up just goes to show a job well done, Also telltale of fun. Now I would like to know do You dress up for the occasion? I am so nosey/LOL
Betty, I am sure you are quite busy...(so what else is new LOLOL) You are such a sweetheart to include Hotdogs in the menu. By this time I'll bet your house is starting to smell wonderful, with the pies baking. Checking things off as they are geting done. Aticipating all the wonderful family and friends. I can just picture the sparkle in your eyes in preporations...Please do be careful, No rushing everthing in it's time will get done.
Wonder, Liz already explained the holidays...We certainly get into the festivies at our house. Halloween is celebrated with the kids putting out our decorations. We don't do a whole lot but some spider cobbing and scarecrows (cutesie.) Will take some pics on the weekend. For Halloween only Jake will go Trick or treating. He will be escorting his younger friends around the neighborhood this year. Usually, i stay home and distribute candy and literally gush at all the adorable and scarey kids that come. Everything end at 9:00 p.m. here. The girls are going to Frightfest at 6 flags great america...On the workfront we have Giant Halloween fest, Every department decorates, and we have a costume contest. and a Chilli contest. Everyone gets involved, $2.00 to votes for costumes, 5.00 to taste chilli, and another 2.00 to vote on best. People donate baked goods for sale and even some crafts to raffle off. All the proceeds go to a charity for Children...We have loads of fun for an entire day, raise a ton of money -which Our company matches all for wonderful causes... I'll try and locate the photos of my area, we had a haunted maze. How about you, do you celebrate something similar?
For all of our Friends in Canada! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!
If you are traveling, be safe on the roads. Enjoy loving your family and friends.
...THANK YOU, you are wonderful people who have shared your daily lives with us, supported us in some hardships and brought smiles in happy and wonderfull stories, and photos. Also thank you for your prayers.
I will think of you this weekend and pray you are all celebrating each other with love and charished memories.
With Peace and Love
Judy
somehow I unwatched this...hey everybody!
Awhile back i posted about a thread in Artisans I started, I updated it and would love some traffic from you talented and creative people ! :
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/750754/
wow you guys are so lucky,
No we dont have anything like that. we celebrate xmas and easter and thats it. we have chocolate easter eggs and do easter egg hunts and such. we have public holidays for easter, good friday and easter monday and then xmas.
Other public holidays are, queens birthday, anzac day, cup day and thats it.
the only time people get into the spirit of things is putting up lights at christmas. some homes are lovely.
our local communities dont do things like you do. they are not very community minded in the city but country folk are more so. i would like to live out in the country somewhere. maybe wonthaggi or konwak. somewhere overlooking land and beach!
i wish we did celebrate. i think i will get a thanksgiving dinner together. how about some recipes?
Betty that coconut cream pie sounds good. maybe a pumkin pie recipe. we have a shop that sell american things so i can get the tinned pumkin. they charge a fortune! a box of rise a roni is $5!! a bottle of clamato which my husband loves is $16!! can you believe it! the pumkin is about $6-$8 a tin. but for a special occasion we could get one.
so any receipes would be great.
have a great day!
x
Wow Laura, your wages must compensate for the high prices (or does it)?
This is my first break of the day...finished final touches to the 3 costumes..ready for them to take home when they leave Sunday (although I'm still waiting for 2 masks) but I can bring them to the city and Jeff can pick them up at the office...
done 12 pies and have pumpkin ready for Sunday a.m. so I can make another 10 to deliver to friends for their thanksgiving..mine are 7 pumpkin, 2 lemon, 1 blueberry, 1 apple, and, 1 coconut cream pie..Jeff telephoned today to ask what time tomorrow, told him all the pies I had made and he said 'but Mom, you know I like chocolate' am sure he's just kidding, but, tomorrow morning I'll make it just in case...guess what everyone, didn't even burn any of them...lol I'm getting better...
Kyle called at 7am to tell me that the 'hockey goalie' I had gotten them for Christmas finally got put together..he's 5' tall, on metal tracks, electronic..moves from side to side and bends so kids can practice shooting in a net..bought a set for each family as the kids are all hockey players and they were $299. each..was disappointed that they hadn't even opened the box..was nice today to hear both of them rave about this player..said they'll have to give him a name..Kyle said they are always at friends a few streets over to practice but he just knows now with this player .. don't find them around very much because of the cost...all the kids will want to play at their house!!! just so cut..Got a call later in the morning..APPARENTLY he had forgotten his lunch..teacher called to ask if it was ok for him to come to my place...kid just wanted to visit with grandma I'm sure..asked him that and he just smilled...
So, it's 6pm and I've come in for something to drink..about another hour of grass cutting and it will be bed for me....
This old gal is tired..either I lay down or I'll fall down..will take photo's of the children in their costumes tomorrow..am sure they'll like them...
If I don't fall asleep before posting tonight I'm sure you'll all guess what my best/worse and what I learnt today..lol...but I do want to come back and post to all...
Tropicanna..we missed you..will check your artisan thread tomorrow..
Seedtosser..you are a sweatheart..
Jeannine and Liz..it's always a pleasure to hear about your day!
Talk later...sure hope you've enjoyed the day...
Wow what a lot of work. I can not make a home made pie crust to save my life. My mom made the best ones but never wanted me to gain weight so knowing her she probably didn't teach me intentionally.
Betty I am not in my thirties, silly. I am 44 almost 45 in January. I don't think 59 sounds old anymore.
I like the red house but the trim hasn't even been started, we had bad weather for days now, too windy. I have a picture of what we have so you can see the color of red. I justt wished I had picked a sheen with less lustre than satin now, but it is pretty.
Laura I had a few bosses like that and coworkers too, plus the dad that raised me, always rolled his eyes at me etc., To me it doesn't get much more insulting or rude. Says a lot about her, NOT YOU!
Shar how fun to dress up with hats. I went to a birthday party once at a tea house and it was so fun to wear hats and white gloves and all for once, eat finger sandwhiches and drink tea. It felt so English.
I love your Puppy too, he is so cute.
Hope Paul is going to be ok.
A weekend without a Man around sounds like it will be very fun.
gasp!! those pies look great!!!
no the wages suck but are better than the usa apparently.
we dont shop at that shop unless its his birthday or something.
oh and dont forget the recipes!!!!!
showed DH the pic.. he is sooo jelous! he loves pumlin pie and hasnt had one in five years!
