Morning, well here I am, all settled in for a rest...thread was getting long so thought I'd move us over...

Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.17
Laura..OMG..I know, I know, but can't help telling you how very lucky you are that he wasn't more seriously injured..and girl...that's why they call it 'an accident'...you had just said in a previous post how tired he was...don't have all your wits about you when you are exhausted...le'ts hope tonight when he comes home you can give him a big hug, tell him nothing else matters as long as he's ok... am sure he feels bad enough let alone see you so stressed out...again, somehow you will manage financially..always works out in the end...we'll just add a few extra prayers in the mix...
Liz, please tell me that the spider is part of your halloween decorations...if not, then I doubt I'd ever be outside again...are they dangerous?can't wait to see your entire yard in it's glory...I'm hoping that if I can finish all 4 of the costumes by weekend then I'll start decorating outside..if not, not sure if I'll get it done as I'm in classes for the next 3 weekends as well as my getting home late...
Jeannine, how did the father/son campint trip go? Lock down, how very interesting, now do they do the sleep over as a fund raising effort for charity or just part of a school activity...get any sewing done over the weekend???
Murmur..always pleased when you drop in..no need to spend hours trying to catch up..just ell us about your day...
Vicki..am hoping you got everything on your to do list done...schedules do have to change when weather doesn't allow for gardening and outside work...not as interesting is it to do inside work...
Carol..loved the photo's..how much fun you must have had..great way to spend a sunny day...I especially loved the 'Hidden Gazebo' guess you are getting much of what they are calling for today..high 70's...would love to be home enjoying it, but even if I was home, doubt I'd spend it relaxing..lol...changed the blue herons to near the pond..am actually a little disappointed because they are so delicate that they are lost in the scenery..perhaps next year when greenery and flowers are in their prime they will be seen..girls will probably move them around the yard today..lol...
Judy, now how did the Saturday night dance go for the girls...must tell us all...
I am actually going to put my head back and try for a much deserved nap..Boss won't be in, he called this morning and is in so much pain..off the hospital this a.m. so it's just me in the office..it's the toss up...nap or painting?????
Talk later..
Laurie so glad your Dh is okay! Do you want to hear what mine did 2 days in a row! Well here goes.
It is Deer Bow hunting Season. Saturday and sunday he went hunting. We had thunder and lightning both days and there he is sitting up in a trre during all this! So which of our DH's has more or less brains or is it a tie????????
Betty the list went out the window with bad weather all weekend and my DB visiting! But it is still around waiting to be worked on! This is a list that will keep me buys anywhere from 2-4 weeks depending on how things go. I just don't want to forget some things and keep adding as they come to mind.
Laurie you asked about land. We have 40 acres we bought when we were only 20. Smart move but didn't know it then. Have lived here ever since. Here is a picture of some of it. Behind the house.
Can see someone is a collector of antique vehicles..how nice...beautiful view..love the stream..is it part of a river or more pond like...I can see why you have to much work to do...takes all our time with an acre or 2...you'll be lucky if DH doesn't come down with pneumonia...
Oh Ves, Your property is absolutely beautiful! Makes me want to just sit and enjoy your view all day long! Well...did he get a deer then?
Liz-that spider is humungas...eeekkkkkkk. At first sighting I thought it was part of your decorations. Thought about you yesterday as kids did some decorating...we don't do much but it's fun to watch them place everything.
Starz, sure was fun checking out your pictures. Everyone looks as though they were having loads of fun on your tractor/rider. It must be wonderful, to apple pick and taste all the goodies harvested in you own back yard...Love your scarecrow!
Wonder, so sorry to hear what happened to DH...Thankfully he is ok! So, very frustrating-some things are. Hang in there, I think as long as you have eachother things will work out...I was also really bummed to hear that you are hurting, sounds like you are keeping your mind off things with the crafting and the learning of stained glass, how cool have loads of fun.
Betty, Wow, you got some neat stuff from you shopping. I am glad you had fun.
You are one incredible lady and I am certainly One lucky lady to have the opportunity to be friends with you.
Friday, night was the pep ralley...my girls to have oodles of fun, me too as they let me paint them up! Here they are being silly
All the girls in the Band got to leave right after half time so they could go make ready for the dance.
Julia, didn't go to the dance after all. But my Breenie girl did. She was very excited. Allowed me to curl her hair too, although it didn;t stay, she was gorgeous anyway. As I drove her to the dance, I did my motherly advise...told her if any boy touches her in the wrong...Knock em out!
Here's my girl all dressed up looking elegant.
Everyone in the family gets involved here is our Fluffy, puffy feather ball enjoying the excitement...Breenie had a wonderful time. She was so excited that she got a candle to bring home. Several of her friends went as well...so they all hung out and jammed to the music.
...yesterday weeded my front garden as I have let it go way too long, our weather was beautiful to be in doors.
Marching Band had a big Competition and they won ALL! Very exciting, as they were in 2nd place in past. I was so pleased as they work so hard. It is so amazing the amount of time and so much energy they put into it. Very very Proud!
Seedtosser you have lots to be proud of also. What accomplished and pretty girls you have.
No he didn't get a deer!
Ves..lovely to see your property in its fall colours.
Nice to have all that room to roam. I have one acre.
Seedtosser..what fun! Your painted girls look so happy..Breenie looks beautiful..what does bringing home a candle mean. Is it like winning the centerpiece? Congrats to Julia and the band on winning 1st place.
Well I had 14 people counting kids yesterday..it has been a lot of fun these last two days and I got rid of some apples..which is the best thing.
I made applesauce muffins this morning...and a banana bread as I ahd some over ripe bananas. I'm not usulaly a so domestic.. but this lovely fall weather brings it out. LOL
Some of the gang yesterday.
Look how absolutely adorable she is...and the black dress...great choice...now how come Julia didn't go? Hope she's not ill...now Judy how many pumpkin pies will you make for Thanksgiving with that 120lb. beauty..which reminds me with our Thanksgiving this weekend must get my pumpkins for pies...my things is making about 20 of them and delivering them to friends...and unlike my cooking they are the best tasting in the county..yep..I can make pies..lol...
Is Breenie in the front on the first photo..if so, my goodness she looks just like you..laughing at your 'mom' words of wisdom..if she didn't am sure you or Julia would search him out and do it for her...as for your birdie..sister in law has one I believe to be the same..do they live beyond 100 yrs.???? they've had theirs for about 20 years..were trying to find a home for it because they have such active lives...I'll have to ask her and let you know what kind hers is...can you imagine the commitment...he'd live beyond their lives, their childrens lives and grandchildrens lives..wow...that is quite a thing to pass on...yours looks quite tame..
Vicki..must be a long day sitting in a tree in bad elements..you must have to love hunting to do so..I get tired sitting for part of a day here in the office..can imagine how uncomfortable it must be...
Carol, look at those apples in the tree...you have more than Collingwood did...when we shopped at one of the stores on Sat. if you purchased more than $5.00 they gave you a bag to fill on your way out..delicious....now isn't it a sin you live so far away..all your baking, we could have had a treat with our coffee...don't you just hate seeing the fall move in..leaves on the ground etc. better leaves than snow, right?
Beautiful countryside and lovely, absolutely lovely, young ladies!!!! And pets - gorgeous bird and oh my, that dog!!!!!
How big is the spider? This one looks scary, but he wasn't overly big - I just got up close and personal (well, not really!).
Best for yesterday: gave all sort of time to myself
Worst: it rained most of the day
Learned: nuthin
Judy, just asked Suzanne abouthers...it's a cockatoo..all white other than a touch of yellow on the head....
Suzanne hasn't been feeling the best either so she called for Dr.'s appointment and got one for Friday morning..hope that means I can stay home Friday..wouldn't it be nice..4 days off..I could get all the pumpkin, apple, lemon merangue, apple and blueberry pies done..kids make a joke that I always make Greg's favorite and he gets to take the extra's home soooo last year I made extra's of all and everyone got to take some home...kids..hmmm always looking to see what the other got more of...lol..just joking though...I make everything pretty even...
Those punkin pies sure sound good! I bought a strawberry cr. cheese in town yesterday. Not as good as in the past but a nice change.
Betty where do you have dinner at? Any family traditions?
That apple picking sounded like so much fun. My DH would enjoy the ride part. He's always taking the little ones for rides. Letting them steer the riding mower. Or think they are. It is so cute.
Betty he only goes out about 3-4 in the afternoon until dusk. He finds it relaxing. Watches all the wild life. He works so hard(work acholic) this is how he relaxes. Also when he mows lawn. To each his own.
Don't hate fall. It is just the time to wind down and prepare for winter. I don't hate any season just parts of them. Like Long cold snaps or just after a big snow fall all the clean up,spring and fall days of cold damp rain that seems to not end and drought and humidity in summer. Sounds alot different in print.LOL I really love where I live!
oooohhhh Murmur...not fond of spiders...yuk...guess I have them as well, just don't look that close...better not know where they are..lol...glad you got to enjoy your day yesterday!
Oh my gosh...all this talk of baking, making me hungry!
...Now just wondering Starz, Do you advertize or are all your guest friends and family...how much fun it is to watch others enjoying good old fashioned fun.
Ves, I can just envision your property covered in snow, Nature sure has a way of showing her beauty. I love all the season but Spring and Fall are my favorites.
Well, I am thinking to make some pumkin pies and cookies. Will give lots of it to my neighbor who makes incredible pumkin goodies! Plus-I am search high and low for my sisters Fry bread recipe-she made the best, I'll add the pumkin to a batch,Yum.
Betty, My next bird will be a Cocatoo! Beautiful intellegent birds they are. My bird is a cocketeil- Not sure how long she will live but she will be 9 soon. We have had her since she was 6months old. She picked us at the pet store! Isn't that funny. She has the run of the house, We trained her not to go near the plants or the eagles. She used to talk a few words, but we didn't keep up with it.
Thank you all about my girls. OH, the candle was just like a door gift. Breenie just didn't realize that they were to receive anything...
Oh Murmur that is one scarey spider-yikes your a brave one to get that close.
Liz, Suzanne took me to Party Depot ... wish I had a day to spend in that shop..was looking for monkey mask..the only one they had was $89.99..imagine..material for costume for far is $125.00 and that's for an 8 year old...not that crazy to purchase that mask so I'll play on internet and see if I can't order one where I am getting the other clown mask..I'll be broke by the time these kids are garbed...
Will go back to look at everything they have though another day that I've more time...
Seedtosser..all these people are friends from the Hotel where I worked before retireing last year. I just send out an e-mail to let them know and tell them to bring some friends if they like. I've had this old orchard for twelve years now.
Turned it into my Secret Garden..but most of the trees are still there...about 40 left now. Originally there were 60.
Been living in this house for 24 years now..and the additional property behind was put up for sale by a neighbour who owned a large orchard. He had 8 sections divided behind the homes here so we all have an acre now.
I thought about putting a sign on the road .."Free Apples for picking"..but thought I better not..if anyone fell off a ladder or got hurt anyway by twistiing an ankle..well It could be trouble.
This is what it looks like when the rest of the apples fall..this was two years ago. For some reason there were very few apples last year..so no picking party.
starzz beautiful apples and how nice you just give them away. We have a couple of trees and it is amazing how they work their hearts out. It is usually a good harvest every other year. But it has been 2 in a row now.
Be interesting to see what happens next year.
Betty..cute link..slow on dial up..but I get bits and pieces and know the tune. :)
What a glorious day it is here. I have been reading outside on the lounger..came in to get coffee.
This is what retirement is all about.
My muffins stuck to the paper liners ..Hmmmm...told you I'm not too domestic. Why does that happen?
Birds are very active today.
And look what has appeared in my garden..4 littel kittens..
At first I only saw the three grey ones with their mother wandering through a few days ago..and yesterday a black one showed up..but I haven't seen the mother..don't know who owns the Mother. I put out a saucer of water.
Cheers,
Carol
awe, aren't they the cuttest..don't show Shar..she'll want you to ship her one or two..that would be my problem, I'd end up keeping them as well...do they look hungry? Do you think they belong to someone and they are just out enjoying this lovely day..actually that's how I got Missy last year..she just hung around, hung around, would sit on the decking and look inside the house, would rub herself against your leg when you went out...just would not leave..so guess she pick her home..couldn't resist..but lordy, yours are just too cute...now is the black cat yours?
Look at those apples...OMG you could make applesauce to last the winter, freeze some for pies etc. are the trees hard to maintain..I would love to plant one or two..probably would be dead by the time they'd have apples though...
Lucky you, enjoying this day..we went out to lunch and hated to come back..
Paul just called, they think it's a pinched nerve in his neck..he has specialist appt. tomorrow morning so I have to change his appt.'s..doubt he'll make it in tomorrow but he says he will....
What a wonderful way to keep in touch with friends. My that is one glorious orchard your have. Oh my how precious those kittens are...and i love the little cabin behind the black kitty! Glad you are enjoying the a beautiful fall day.
Oh gosh Betty, that is one expensive outfit your creating...did you explain he must wear it forever now!LOL
So Ves if DH gets his deer, do you help butcher it? Venecin is must for Thanksgiving! Well, as along as he is relaxing...I guess it inevitable to do it in the rain...sigh. Hey are you anywhere near Madison?
Let me back up here forgot to mention...Gardengirl, I hope you had a fun weekend with DD and pups. Hope the weather was good for the guys camping trip!
Liz-so glad to hear Dh treatment going well...
Did you finish scarecrow?
Shar, I hope you were able to get some sleep. Did you enjoy your visit with DD?
Betty, The girl in front is Julia. hehehe, you are so cute, already wishing it's Friday! When will you start baking pies? Also, got to say that Suzannes pup is just adorable!
Judy, pups belong to my sister Sharon..Suzanne is my sister-in-law that I work with..she's the one with the cockatoo...Julia is your double...a sweatheart for sure...don't know why we're so excited that it's Thanksgiving..you know what comes next..everyday Suzanne and I while driving are talking about christmas plans, christmas shopping etc. am sure it will feel like forever before it arrives...Friday will be pie baking day regardless of my work schedule...
OOOpppps, sorry for my confusion!
...and so the Season begins, Can't wait myself for all the festivties!! I love giving gifts, not necessarily shopping but giving a present and watching them recieve it just makes me so happy! ahahha, mumma and i used call ourselves little elves, my favorite watching the kids purchase or make their gifts and give them away, now if I can just get them to start now!
First winter on my list is Julia's Birthday Dec. 12 that is when Our season officially starts.
P.S. half way packed for Florida!
good morning all.
Thankyou for letting me rant and for caring. you guys are awesome. I have had some sleep and feel better today. your right of course... and yes he felt bad. he is sleeping now but i will make sure i reassure him that all that matters is that he is ok and we are together.
what a crack up, in the tree!!!! men!
The land is amazing! how very beautful.
The apples orchard looks like soemthng out of a movie!
For that matter so do the spiders! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!

I cant wait to see what you all are going to do for haloween. oh please post lots of pics, im so jelous! lol
Im totally taking the day off today.. a me day. the sun is out and the house needs me so im going to clean and then potter around doing things.
hope yu all have a good day
xx
Here I am almost ready for bed and you are looking forward to a 'sunshine' kind of day Laura...good girl, taking it in stride...came home to some good news..Bernice next door called, had 2 ladies for B&B but I wasn't home so she had to place them somewhere else..but, asked her how her vacation on Manitoulin Island went and said they had to sign off the offer they had made because the tentative purchase expired, came home same day to find out that there was a technicality with her house on the market and the sale thereof..so, they took it off the market and decided that the Lord was telling them to stay put...I said my prayers were answered in that they will not be moving..not nice of me I know but so did hate to see them leave..told her I could sleep well tonight knowing they'd be there in the morning..lol...
Well, almost time for dancing with the stars..have bath ready and will snuggle into bed..just hope I don't fall asleep seconds after I'm in it...
so...
Best..hearing about Bernice and Cliff not moving
Worse..talked to the couple next door..their house burnt down Aug2006...had problems with insurance..finally settled and got a builder who has been nothing but grief to them...still haven't moved in...and they are desperate..every day the builder has more reasons for asking for more funds..house is beautiful...have to add them to my prayer list..their children in the teens are a bit of a handful but it won't be that many years before they are off on their own...just kids...
What did I learn..just as I'm typing my girlfriend Geraldine that I asked for prayers for her and hubby who has cancer called to say they are leaving Florida tomorrow, will take their time getting here..her son has a bad cold and running a fever so they don't want to stay there so will be coming here for part of a week...just happens to be our Thanksgiving but 2 more won't make the difference..only thing is with the 4 little gaffers running around, it might play on his nerves...let's hope not...
Isn't it all just so exciting...night all, so did enjoy visiting with you today!
evening all,
wow lots to see today
judy, prom pics were so nice daughter looked so pretty, now what are you going to do with that huge pumpkin holy cow!lol
your bird he looks like a big ham just sitting there looking all innocent, and no that spider isnt part of decorations thanks for remembering dh i finished the one scarecrow the stokade is up the gilliteen( sorry my spelling is killing me ready for bed i cant think)and my tribute to the tin man is up all of the props are out but its all the electrical plugging this into that box and not blowing up the house lol so i hope to get all the bugs worked out im now going to be 5 days off from my original plug in date.
vicki, what lovely grounds you have it must keep you very busy
murmer ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww that just as nasty as the one in the back yard
carol oh look at all those apples wow those kittens are so cute are they tame enough to pick up?boy i'd snatch one of those if i was there lol
betty, oh the puppy how white and fluffy so cute, boy you got it going on with all that sewing costumes
now thats something to celebrate bernice and cliff not moving how nice is that, did you get the herons where you wanted them? isnt that spider nasty i really have to watch where im going thease spiders make the hudgest elaborate web and if your not looking where your going you walk right into them.

Had a day off and pottered around. feel much better. DH bike is a write off so we have to talk to the insurance company.
hope your day has been a good one... actually going to be a good one. i cant get this time thing happening....
x
Liz do you ever sleep? lol...funny how the animals just know when treats are on hand...mine actually leads me to the craft room downstairs and cries at the shelving until he receives his treat..even the cats know to do same..
I'd swear it's midnight from the looks outside my window..will attach a photo..looks much brighter than it actually is...noticed you can see my office t.v. playing in the photo..lol...
Laura, how will DH get to work now, will you have to share the vehicle...glad you enjoyed your day off..always make one feel better...best of luck with the insurance company..hope you don't loose out...I'll be checking the P.O. however, young lady you were told..no treats...
I don't know what happened to this thread but it is way wide !!!!!!!!! the rest are fine. Anybody else having the problem
here?
I will not answer much because I have to go back and forth for each line. Someone asked if I lived near madison. About
4 hours north.
The pictures are what my DH takes care of. It is all wild land. I have the yard and flowerbeds.
Even though he keeps expanding the yard.
Best; day is over.
Worst: catching a cold
What did I learn: it is good to go back to work and see that someone else cleaned behind the counters. It looked
really good!
Have a good day!
Wide for me, too - very annoying to try to read!
Have a good day, all!
Good Morning!
Yep my screen is also very wide...thought may I hit the wrong button or something, seems to only be on this forum.
I hope you all had a great evening.
I kept busy for hours helping with the filing of paper. Geesh, DH has one of the most confusing systems! I was so baffled and completely worn out by the time i was finished I had broke out in sweat! LOL I mean, why does everything have to be recorded again.
Then the names on the little filing tabs don't match the title on the bill or whatever and i got to search for every thing...and forget about Miscelaneous info...far as i am concerned it's all miscelaneous-LOL I am so all about the piling system, kept in a PLAIN BOX,
ok..ok maybe sorted by month...ok that was the worst of the day-not horrific but shaking my head and heavy sighs. Oh, I did make a folder for all the paper from accident, and DD car and credit card stuff...Clearly maked DRAMA placed it in the Misc.
Otherwise night was good,
Learned...never offer to help DH with his paperwork! LOL
Betty so happy to hear your neighbors are staying!
Liz-Hope you get the electric figured out so to get spooky up and running on your set time.
oh my gosh 45 degrees...I get cold when it's 60! LOL,
Wonder, hope your day off was just as you wished!
Well, Hope your days are good, busy and just full of fun!
See you later.
I went into 'my information'...then on to my preferences, then it gave a listing of points..think I picked 12, then clicked to save and I'm back on track..hope this helps
It didn't help for me. Still same thing.
