Best/Worse and What did I learn today? Friends pt.17

Early morning, but a must if I want to be organized..with so many coming and eating around 5-6ish I thougt with the 5 big tables in craft room that it would be better incase it's too cool outside, so, as you can imagine with most craft rooms there is some cleaning to do..lol..but, do want to get 3 or 4 hours of just sitting included into my day...a trip to Walmart this morning for new table cloths and then to grocery store for the last of my purchases and I'm ready...

Geraldine called last night, she and Bert got in yesterday from Florida..she's at her home, but son arranged a big party (drinkers/swearing etc involved) so she asked if she could come and spend tonight here..did explain all the family but they'd be welcome..just worried that with Bert so ill it might be a little overwhelming, but, said they'd be over...

The family next door whose house burnt a year ago August are finally getting to move in..they've had so many problems with insurance and the contractor but today they will move much of their belongings in..they've been in a small 2 bedroom apartment since the fire..they build a 3 story house, lordy it's beautiful..let's hope they can keep it clean though...you couldn't get in the door of their other house..am sure though with having everything new, they'll make an attempt...

Dawn, perhaps when the house is all painting it will come together and you will like the color..I've only ever painting bright colors in a room once and a week later had to redo it..just toooo much color for me...and yet, when I visit friends who have bold colors I love it!!! maybe I don't give it enough time...looking forward to photo's..

Happy Thanksgiving Betty..Wow..fabulous pies! I am like Hellnzn11....can't make a decent pie crust. I will be making a big pan of Apple crisp to take to my daughter's tomorrow for our family dinner..of course there will be Pumpkin pie there too..from Costco..LOL. You must be thrilled to have the costumes finished..you are a very loving and generous grandma..

Happy fall to all of our U.S. friends..and of course you too Wonder..nice of you to think about celebratiing in spirit with us. Wow ..the price of Clamato juice is so high for you! It is about $4.00 here. We put vodka in it and some spices like you would for a Bloody Mary..rim the lip with celery salt and call it a Bloody Caesar.

I have been painting my kitchen..took all the border off and have chosen a nice warm colour. Sandy Brown CC150 Benjamin Moore...it is nice and fresh . I have to paint two more walls but I will wait till Monday to finish. I have to buy more paint today..I wanted to just get a small can first to see if I liked the colour..I do..so I will buy a large one today.

So here is the new colour..it was off white before.

judy, decor at work is or should i say has to be done in a tactfully manor or they will make us take it down we have lights on one window and basic halloween scenes customers have said oh i like all your decorations but were kind of scared with getting the new district manager she may make us take down the lights(fire hazzard) there unplugged before i go and the girls are not to plug them in on the weekends so i dont know whats happening there yet.
i dont dress up for halloween i think it has something to do with being forced to dress up as a kid and i hated my costumes lol, now your work sounds like alot of fun contests and all for good causes how fun..
and the girls going to 6 flags the'll have a ball, lol no your not nosey, omg your not going to believe what just happened as im typing i heard the doggie door being pushed clawed at so im thinking opps left a dog outside but no dogs arnt up yet so i turn on the lights holy cow two racoons just huge looking at me they ran for the fence oh there just awful can you immagine had i had the doggie door up....

tropicanna, welcome back, thats some real neat art thanks for sharing oh funny that canna i stuck in a pot in the fish pond is just flourishing had a orange bloom but the wind and darn racoons tipped it over and broke the flower otherwise i'd post it for you.

laura,you have got to be kidding omg thats highway robbery lol well when you need rice a roni let us know its real cheap here! thats crazy im going to be talking to myself all day behind this wow..but i guess being imported that kind of makes some sence.

FIRE THE WEATHERMAN/FIRE THE WEATHERMAN...Morning...had great time last weekend, of course spent all my money..but treated myself to 3 blue herons done out of metal..look nice in the garden..then of course some christmas treats for friends...

Was so looking forward to eating outside..weatherman screwed up..major storm, heavy torrential rain..this morning had a few things to do in town but half the stores were closed no power due to storm..of course I invited about 22 for supper today based on weatherman saying weather was suppose to be in high 70's-low 80's...boy were they wrong..so, went and bought 6 table clothes and fall decorations and am presently cleaning the craft room to accommodate everyone..just my luck..who knows maybe by this afternoon the storm will have passed over us and sun will come out...I feel sorry for those down the street who have no power and are planning Thanksgiving..power goes off every 10-15 minutes here but so far it's staying on..thanks goodness..have 2 turkeys in the oven and a big spiral ham to cook..

Did manage to get everything I needed in the next town..quick trip in and back..had put oven really low as to have it ready by 5, but just in case no power I'll cook it more quickly JUST INCASE...

Carol, love the color..bet it makes it brighter..lucky you, Thanksgiving at your daughters..

Liz..racoons..maybe they just wanted to drop in and see your Halloween display..lol..

Prayers worked..hydro stayed on..I've absolutely everything done..and much pre-cooked now I'm sitting on my touch, actually looking for something to do..

Got the craft room table to site 20 and a side table for food and another for a few of the kids...talk about being organized...now I'll have to watch the 2 birds, make sure I don't burn them, and put the ham in..was going to do it on the b.b.q. but decided against it..

Sun has just come out..everything is so wet, so won't be eating outside, unless of course everyone does but I've made the tables look festive so, it's inside I hope..decisions/decisions...it is actually so humid that I have AC on...

Liz love your treasures..Carole..hope it's clearing in your neck of the woods as well..is it a good fair?? all our local ones are finished now..one in Elmvale, which is about 1/2 hr. away but it's always on Thanksgiving weekend so guess they've got the rain as well...with luck sunshine tomorrow and Monday..I've still 2 days to relax...right???

Yes let's all fire the weatherman. lol I like the red, I just wished I'd have it with less shine to it and a little more like acrylic flat. When the white trim is added, it will be nice I think, especially in front where the tall floor to ceiling windows have big beams between each one so they will break up the red much more. We need to add more things to trim on the sides, like shutters and planter boxes.

First off, I need to tell you about my surprise today. DD got the mail and brought it over to me (I was sitting on a neighbor's stoop) and what was in there but a small package from Australia! I could not believe it! Our dear friend Laura sent me a beautiful crystal angel decoration to hang in either a window or in my car. It's beautiful and I just cannot thank her enough!! The adults oooh'd and aaah'd over the angel and the kids just loved that they were holding an envelope that came from Australia. DS zeroed in on the bubble wrap envelope! So Laura, again thank you so much for your thoughtfulness! I LOVE it!!!!

So, I survived HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL ON ICE today!! Amazing considering there were maybe a 1000 screaming pre-pubescent girls - 4 of which were with me! Man, do I feel OLD! The show was actually very nice and the girls really enjoyed themselves. Of course, I love to embarass them by dancing down the aisleway as if I was in the musical!!! LOL!

I'm a single mom this weekend. DH headed into the woods yesterday to camp with his best friend. I actually had a nice night last night. DD went to a homecoming football game with a friend and DS was playing guitar hero with his upstairs. I was able to start putting together a 'block-of-the-month' quilt kit I bought a few years ago from Joann's.

Today, I helped my neighbor put her new tree in and I am letting DD have 3 friends sleep over as well as DS have a friend over. Crazy, I tell ya! The girl is crazy!!! I hear a gin and tonic calling my name!!!!

Well, off to order pizza for the masses. I will try and check in later!

Quiet today ha? I bought an olive tree in 15 gallon and a chitalpa so they are planted also bought a little 1/4 flat of mums and dusty miller, they will look good against the red I think.

Off to church tonight instead of tomorrow, then we will watch a movie or two so I may not be on anymore tonight.

Worst thing is I planted the trees which gave me a headache that I am unable to get rid of.

Best thing is getting the trees. Last purchases of the season.

Made it through the day..just cleaning up..always cook too much food..still a turkey in the oven that I have to find room in one of the refrigerators for...everybody left, all forgot to take a pie..I'll be out on the street tomorrow looking for takers..

Much too tired to post tonight..by the time everythng is cleaned up it should be around midnight..

Jeff and the boys, my sister and her girls all returned home tonight to the city ..boys have hockey games 7am.. Greg/Mel and the boys live in town ....Geralding and Bert are here spending the night..they won't be returning to Floriday until a week Monday..visiting friends..nice to have them hear...well..can't sit for long or I'll fall asleep..gab tomorrow ...

Morning, or is it afternoon yet..we certainly didn't get the weather they had said we would..today is a REAL fall day, damp, cool and leaves falling..the kind of day you just want to curl up and do nothing...

Geraldine and Bert got up early this morning..they wanted to take me out for breakfast, but lordy I had so many leftover..I've enough ham for an army so I made breakfast instead....although they are here for 2 weeks they've many to visit so off they left about 15 minutes ago..

I am just sooo tired so will just do short post for now, I've more pies to cook then off to the couch I go for a mini nap..or..maybe for the rest of the afternoon..just before they left I got into old clothes and climbed into the pond 4' in order to take out the pump...I'll miss the sounds but you never know when the weather can change so thought I'd better get it done, then quickly into hot bath as not to catch pneumonia...

Falling asleep here at the computer so off I go..talk later..

goodness betty, now you be careful not to overdo it. you have that nap...

went to my DD house on sunday which was nice....relaxed most of the weekend.

Thanks Liz, we like it too. It will have a white trim, called Poler Bear, but i want to paint the door different maybe. We like that combo but need more accents on the side like shutters and planter boxes.

well I guess your all kicking back as its sunday over there.
Here its Monday and the day was hectic at work.
I served almost 100 customers on my own today!! phew.
Things are still tense at work. I have emailed the equal opportunity comission for an update to see if they have heard back from VIc Roads. Its doing my head in!

Anyway, all that aside. just another day...... No best and worse... just average.

What did I learn? well nothing today but you may ask me what did i remember and what did i dwell on?
Well, i thought about how lucky I am to be friends with you all, that you all let me take a peek into your lives, family and homes. That you listen when i need to chat and share so much with me. I thought about how lucky I am to have a wonderful husband after so many years of heart ache. I thought about how thankful I am that my children are once again gathered around and loving me. I am thankful that I was able to get through the heart ache that my ex put me through that almost cost me the love of my children with his lies and just this week it all came back to rest on him. I didnt have to do anything. Just as he cheated on me, he has been caught cheating on his mistress and its all fallen apart. I guess i shouldnt take any satisfaction in that. I feel so badly for the woman as she had no idea i was even on the scene when he started with her but i feel vindicated somehow now. I thought about so many things when the tension at work got bad so i could get through. You guys are with me every day you know, your my garden angels and thats why i wanted to send you one to let you know your significance in my day.

by the way jeannine, how old are yuor kids?

Good morning, and yes Laura is was a couch day, slept off and on and day and right through the night and just take a look at the time...must have needed it as it was late nights all last week..

Rain is falling lightly, dull kind of day..know if it had been sunshine I'd have pushed to be out in my garden yet one more time..so not quite sure what I'll do today, quiet kind of day although it's thanksgiving..Saturday was a lot of fun...

you climed in the fish pond yuck but it is getting to be that time of year i leave mine in the pond but it dosnt get that cold here to remove,i hope you got a nap in between all the cleanning and baking.
ok now your going to lecture me im not talking to dh im so mad at him, it all starts from this medication he takes i have been very patient with him it keeps him up all weekend he cant sleep so he will take frequent naps.
well he wanted to hang somemore lights and i had my hands full of screws and some brackets he said well i wish i had 4 hands... well why didnt he just simply ask could you hold this to.
i let it go, then yesterday on the way back from the inlaws we stopped at mcdonalds to get lunch to go well when we got back he started ranting and raving about the stupid girl they left out a order of fries i said to him oh please stop just eat mine and stop all that complaining well that set him off and he made a snyde remark.
and that was that i shut down and refuse to acknowlege him he use to be a wonderful comunicator but now he just expects me to read his mind dont know how im going to hold up till febuary so fustrating.

Went up for a coffee and missed you Liz..forgot this is a work day for all of you...DH..hmm...very difficult I'm sure dealing with someone who is on medication..medication can bring on so many different reactions to it...kind of think about how you would treat the elderly going through tantrums, how much energy you have in understanding that they are ill and you must be patient...is February when he comes off the medication? be praying that this too shall pass...get your laughs throughout the day!!! can't wait to see the house up with lights running...

I'm sitting here in my jammies and decided that as I'm not going anywhere why not be comfy..might be another nap coming on..just came downstairs to get some paints..have some more christmas balls to do and send out...must find another method of shipping boxes..although that will entertain me, it's not hard work just enjoyable..don't want to take something big on as I've just cleaned the craft room, new tablecloths on tables..try to keep it clean for a few days...lol...

Jeff putting his soundless guitar together..has 8 of them..just loves to play music..he played for us and my Nikki my sister's youngest girl played as well...then the young ones played the soundless guitar with headsets..that was nice..no noise..lol...

I look at Jeff and he's handsome (at least from mom's perspective) comedian, plays instruments, great job, money/money, gorgeous home and yet he's alone..told him I was going to fix him us..said thanks but no thanks..just enjoying being me, having the boys and my work right now is my 'wife'...hmmm .. he went out for a cigarette and didn't I tell him he was playing rushing/roulette with his life...only to hear 'my life though MOTHER' so there went that subtle hint..

family gathering...brother couldn't make it..they are having theirs this aft. and it's about 1/2 hr. drive..wants me to come over but no energy, who knows, maybe by aft. I'll get dressed and go over...

Must prepare living room today as am having the drywall done on front wall..was never completed since they put in new windows..I've been ever so patient, called Friday and said first rain day this week and they'd be over..so although I want a rest day, just might have to 'get ambitious'...always something..

Laura, so sorry bad feeling came back..maybe now you can put them aside..and you are in the right frame of mindset, you can wake up today and decide you'll enjoy and make the best of it, or you can make yourself ill worrying about the past and the future...best live in today and make it your best day...you've your family back, that shows just how much you mean to them..direct all that loving nature of yours on them...

love him to death he just makes me crazy sometimes. yes he'll be done with all this medication in febuary but the last year he has been smoking like a fiend i cant believe he hasnt thought a minute about this new lease on life to get rid of the bad habits.

The costumes look awesome! The fur on the monkey is amazing!!! I made teddies for a while but the fur like that which i loved to use is very very expensive over here! It must be cheaper over there as the whole costume is made in it!

Liz, its so incredibly hard for those caring for those who are sick. so much is expected of you at a drop of a hat or a whim. Often there mood swings for no reason or for something small and there you have to be to mend and patch what ever the problem is. And you can often feel like 'why me' and so on. Often wishing someone would take care of you for a change. Belive me I know. but, its just out of their control so often. doesnt make it fair or right.. its just is. Im sorry your struggling with it and i can understand your frustration and anger..... just ride the wave baby, try and imagine yourself like a cork on the water. ride on top if you can, kinda go with the flow rather than get caught in the undertow. Its easy for me to say I know, but i have been there.. i feel for you. chin up and rant when ever you want to! Keep in mind what he used to be like and believe for that again. we will believe with you.

Dh is on the mend after his accident. Cuts and brusies are healing and he is well.
Missing the puppy but happy that there is no more chewed cords, furniture, blankets you name it. he is doing well and keeping and elderly lady very happy so that is good.

Well, have had Tangiegirl (Jan) in my mind for several days now..her last post stated she had a fall...called information with the info I had but they said no tel. # under that name in that area...now I sent Xmas balls to same address and they weren't returned so not sure what has happened..perhaps some of you have her tel.# or have been in contact with her..if so, kindly let me know...better say some prayers for her....

Laura, fur was expensive here as well..$36.98 x 3 meters (yards) plus bindings,elastic,zipper etc..figure it cost me around $150. + mask...yuk..lots of money for costume he'll wear only once...oh well, that's what grandma's do...

well consider that this kind of fur here would cost $150 per metre!! just a tad moe than a yard. Amazing isnt it?

Its 5.30 am and i cant sleep. mind going a million miles a minute. always the same thing, work.... i try and relax which is good but by then i am awake!

I'm still in jammies..can go like the dickens for weeks on end then when I crash, I crash..Kyle dropped in early this aft. - was wearing a short sleeve shirt..asked him if he was cold..said, grandma it's so hot out there, meanwhile, guess whose on the couch, afghan wrapped over her and fireplace on??? yep..I'm chilled to the bone so that means I must really be tired and need some sleep..I did howeer, manage to basecoat 12 xmas balls with blue, sketch pattern on them and ink them...I'll set them aside and they'll be ready for painting and shipping...omg Christmas is so just around the corner...back to make myself a plate of ham/turkey etc. and I have a great choice in pies..lol...

Laura, my kids are 10 & 12 (DS=10 & DD=12). The DD is actually 12 going on 16. She thinks I am a total crazy person for not getting her a cell phone. We've told her when she starts driving, we'll get her one. She goes on and on about how all of her friends have one and I just say "if they all have one, borrow one from them!" She doesn't like that too much! It's unfortunate that some parents think that buying their kids everything they want is the right thing to do. A 13 yr old across the street got a laptop, cell phone and a phone in her room for her 12th BD. How crazy is that!!! I'm sure she'll get a car when she turns 16. Anyway, enough ramblings of my thoughts about over indulged kids!

Well it's that time of night..although I didn't sleep today, did remain on the chesterfield for most of it...just finished watching dancing with the stars..am sure tomorrow night Wayne Newton will be heading back to Las Vegas...now it's bedtime and back to the old grind..no more holidays now until Christmas...will have to partake in your Thanksgiving celebrations..

well, got an email from the equal opportunity today showing me the response from work. they have got thier legal eagles onto it and are attacking me from a legal end. its so hard, i am fighting something that seems so much bigger than me. Its just they really make me feel like i have nothing to offer. did any of you have the popular girls at school tease you and get away with murder at your expense? well de ja vou! depressing.

i had name picked out for all mine but had to compromise some.
My oldest is emma-lea, i wanted emily and the ex wanted jenny-lea so i compramised.
the second is named after my two brothers christopher paul
the third i wanted jesse... boy or girl. the ex wanted jessica....so he got that. close enough.
the fourth i wanted benjamin.... he didnt like the name, i chose joel benjamin.

come to think of it, i compramised on all of them....gosh, gave in way too easy....
Jessica fancies changing her name to scarlet rene. my fathers name was rene so that would be nice.

jeannine stick to you guns lol i got a telephone when i was sixteen but the stipulation was allowence went toward the phone bill, made me think twice about how many calls i would make having to spend my own money.
.but then i pushed the limit once thought i'd be smart and get all my friends on a conference call now back then it was 27.00 lost my phone for two months i learned to appreciate the value of earning things.

betty, you got some rest thats a good thing maby you over did a little over the holliday so now your back on xmas balls look at you already have a full plate again lol well i had a nice talk with dh and we both agreed to work on things( not) that we were having problems but to work on being more of a team so house work and projects dont seem so one sided, that you all for your advice.
now for that stupid camera... took another video it dosnt give you alot of fllming time so i down loaded it viewed it but it dosnt down load like my pictures do.

Laura, my DD's name is Savannah Lucille. I wanted Shelby but DH knew a BOY in school named that so that name was gone. Savannah is after Jimmy Buffett's DD Savannah Jane. We were at a concert and she was singing back-up for him and we both looked at each other and said "that's it". I knew no matter what the first name was going to be, her middle name would be Lucille after my grandmother.

Our DS's name is James Walker. James cause that's DH's, my dad, my grandfather and nephew's name. Walker was my grandmother's maiden name. He goes by Walker. I wanted Wyatt but DH said everyone would call him Wyatt Earp. So now they call him "Walker Texas Ranger" At least Wyatt Earp was a real person and not a Chuck Norris TV character!!

If Walker had been a girl (thank God he was not!) her name would have been Emily Joan. Emily - just cause we liked it and Joan after my Mom and DH's mom (her middle name).
