Fall 2007 RU

Billerica, MA(Zone 6a)

Restaurant at 11, then Logee's.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

my vote:

meet at 12 and eat at restaurant
go to logee's

or
meet at 12 at logee's
eat at restaurant after

going to a park sounds nice, but since we won't know the weather for sure until that weekend, there is the potential for last minute scrambling to re-plan.

anyone want to go with me?

My vote is:

Pick up lunch along the way to Logees.
Meet at Logees around noon.
Then, if the weather is good, meet together in a park for trading, coffee, and chatting.

But, I will defer to the majority.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My vote is to pick up women on the way to Logees and then the rest doesn't matter.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor!!!! there you go again....

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

So far we are 13 people... not so bad for a restaurant ... and by either 11:30 or 1:30 the busy time should not be a problem...

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Don, how big is the vanilla bean??

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I hate eating at home. we eat out as often as we can, which is usually WAY more often than we can afford. it's the whole not-knowing-what's-in-the-fridge-and-not-daring-to-look part. We've been really good recently - I made a LARGE pot of chili - ok, my aide and I made it - but it's very healthy and low-fat and delicious but oh(!) those beans! It's better today than it was yesterday when it was better than the day we made it.

which adds up to - I'll eat anything as long as I didn't cook it!

I'm also up for a restaurant, now that I think about it!
Like Carrie, I love eating out and spending my kids' inheritance at restaurants. I also love cooking, but it just takes one little crook of DH's finger and I'm ready to go out.
Just tell me where and when.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Your kids have an inheritance . . . I don't think we even have disposable income . . . . lol. But restaurant is definitely the way for me . . . I hardly ever get to go to them.

Hey everybody! Sorry Victor and Cat... looks like I'm a little late in the discussion. Cripes, I need to make a decision? I'm a Libra. Libras don't do well in the decision making department.

It takes 2 1/2 hours to get to Logee's from my house and I've got to meet up with Victor and Cat. Yeah, I think we can do 11am... or 12. I like the restaurant idea if we can get a place willing to accommodate us. If the weather's great, we could do the park thing instead. The day before we could check the weather and decide and I could bring camping chairs.

I don't mind going to Logee's at the beginning or end of the RU. I'm not going to spend anything there, but it's just so beautiful, I'm sure I'll stay a while to explore all the secret hiding places. Logee's is no ordinary plant shop.

Is that good enough decision making? It's all I'm capable of at this early hour.

Kassia:
The Vanilla Bean Cafe in Pomfret has a reasonable sized dining room and an adjacent partitioned-off "listening room" where they have cabaret entertainment evenings. I don't remember too many details of the interior because we always ate at their outside tables. They have a website at
http://www.vanillabeancafe.com
and incidently Coke chose to introduce their Vanilla Coke there.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

if the vanilla bean fits all of us I think we should try it... I looked at their menu and looks good!

I vote for the restaurant at 11:30 and then loggees... and can we do plant swap at Logees parking lot in case we don't have good weather???

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Kassia:

I'm voting the same as you. Sounds perfect!!!!
Now, we just need to pray for good weather.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Don't you think getting Victor and Dave47 in the same place at the same time, glorious sunshine is inevitable???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Advisable???

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh we can take them both!!!!! it will be absolutly great... can't wait!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm still not a certainty however.

Pawling, NY(Zone 5b)

Like Victor, I'm still unsure as well.. But I like Kassia's idea.. restaurant at 11:30 and then loggees.. :)

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Sounds good to me! I'm also about 2 1/2 hours from Logees, so let's see, counting backwards, I can leave about 9 am which is very do-able. Traffic should be less by then, too. And OF COURSE I will have no difficulty finding the place, lol.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yup, I'm good with that. The Vanilla Bean's menu is already making me drool.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

. Sounds like we made a decision!
I will call the Vanilla bean for an 11:30 reservation.

Very flattering to hear that anyone is interested in my attending. I'm much less impressive in person though

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've heard that.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Poor Dave47 . . . I am sure we will all be impressed :-)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm impressed.

Dave ... be sure you count me as two people. My DD, Anna, will be coming with me. She's the one with the garden. I just work in it - *grin*

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I am praying that you come Victor!!!! and Dave I am impressed too!!!! too bad Al is so far away I just wonder how it would be with him in the mix!!!!! we have got to find a way to get all of us together one day!!!!

Candyce!!!! I will add your dd to the list!!!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Got you Candyce

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We are so looking forward to this RU! October 6th can't get here fast enough!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I hope you all take tons of pics for us left behind people. Someday when I can travel again maybe I can join in too, till then your pics and stories will be a lot of fun. :)

Southington, CT(Zone 6b)

The Vanilla Bean is an upscale, rather quite Yuppie, very expensive operation. Not my cup of tea, but some might like it...

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Doesn't look like it's expensive on the menu.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Nerm I looked at the menu and didn't think it was too bad...

I got my t-shirt... oh it's really nice!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Hey, maybe the VB wouldn't notice if just a few of us snuck in our own food.

I have a quart of condensed, red hummer food that's been in my fridge since the spring (you know, the purchased kind). If it's still good, anyone want it? I broke my feeder.

Harper

Southington, CT(Zone 6b)

Well, I suppose prices are relative to what people are used to... To me, though, $9.50 for a hamburg & $16 for a ravioli bowl is rather bizarre. But it's not just the prices that turn me off about the VB. I prefer "Joe's Clamcake Shack" (I just made up that establishment BTW :) :)

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

it would be kinda expensive for me on a regular basis, but i look at this as a special occasion...
(sorta like the gas to drive there and back!)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Ayup!!
I agree, amy!!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I was looking at the lunch menu. A bowl of chili for 5.50 is good enough for me. Or maybe a half sandwich 5.50 and cup of soup 3.50 will stuff me for the rest of the day.

Harper

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Nerm... which other place is nice in that area????

Southington, CT(Zone 6b)

I honestly don't know, Kassia. Eating has never been one of my top priorities. But if I have the chance I'll look into it...

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks... and Nerm I wish I could say the same!!!
